We've been frequenting The Slocan a lot as a family recently, and have found it to be such a great place! Staff are incredibly friendly, they always accommodate dietary restrictions or requests to change/add menu items. And they do it very cheerfully. Menu is quite broad, and I've been loving their eggs benny lately. They are welcoming of the kids too, which isn't always the case, so I give them two thumbs up!
Friendly atmosphere. Fast service and quality food makes the price worth it. Would definitely recommend to others.
Always consistent with quality, service, and friendliness ... The price point is also friendly .... Keep up the tradition ..
Always great service & great food. Been going there for decades. Love it
I love this place, great staff April, I am looking at you, fun good food and the locals make it. A great neighbourhood local.

Great music and great food. We had so much fun and will be back again.
So much food!! Great service
Well definitely be back
Great breakfast. Favourite is the bourbon French toast with fruit compote.
Besides being a bit outdated and dingy looking from the outside, noticing The Slocan was always busy we thought we’d give it a go for a quick lunch. Nice diner feel, friendly and efficient service and good homely chicken strips and poutine.
Above photo shows a plate of the cheesy fries and my Fat Tug IPA. They didn’t have any stouts at the time, most places don’t during summer I guess, and I settled for this instead. The fries were not the crispiest, but the abundance of cheese, sourcream, and small bits of bacon made up for it. I am interested in seeing what else they have, but maybe I’ll come back in the winter when they have stouts.
I pass by this restaurant every week, but finally decide to stop by and have breakfast food. Food is ok. Eggs are made perfect. Super friendly service here that made us felt welcomed. I would come back if I'm in the area and wanting breakfast food.
Relaxed for late breakfast. Pretty good. Omelette (had the Okanagan) was okay. Thought it could have used more pears to even out the ratio with the brie I suppose and would have preferred them wedged/sliced rather than the small diced & it was a little/but not a lot on the dry side. The rosemary spuds were a very pleasant surprise and tasted fresh. My mate very much enjoyed their potatoe salad and was delighted that it was offered as a side rather than fries or greens. What will certainly bring us back here however is the atmosphere. So cheery and easy going the way I like it and they were playing classic rock like Pink Floyd. I enjoy visiting Roundel (just a little west) as they play whole albums and now there is also this choice for old timey classic rock. Right on!
I agree with other reviewers that the portions could be a little larger.
Beautiful attentive friendly service, good affordable food, amazing eggs Ben, best Caesar in town.
Family style restaurant with 5 flat screens and a big bar to watch the games. Best hand -cut french fries in #EastVan
I love this diner, the l just dig the wholesome food. Hey it's a diner.. Simple food.. Clubhouse.. Real turkey! Bam! Thick cut fries, breakfast all day..milkshakes!! Brillant
I liked this place as soon as I stepped in. Kind of a retro-70's diner look, but new and very clean. Plus we had what might have been the best, most friendly service we've had in memory. Honestly friendly too, not forced. There are a lot of regulars here, the servers knew them by name. Good burgers, and really great fries and onion rings. Plus a nice selection of pie. This was our first time here, but I would go back without hesitation.
For those of you who regularly follow my blog, you know that Chris & I are big fans of brunch. You may also know that we moved this summer to new part of the GVRD, so we’ve had to try to find some new places for morning meals in our new neighbourhood. One
