The food items here look really healthy and seems like a great option if you're into healthy eating. However, I did not try the menu items as I only came here for the ice cream. The chocolate cone I had was a bit pricy at $5.75 (I believe) but you get a big scoop. My only complaint is that my ice cream was a bit sour which I didn't necessarily like. Overall good experience and service.
I have been meaning to visit this cafe for their homemade ice cream, but their earlier closing times and my schedule have never married up. But today, on one of the last warm days of summer it was as good of a day as any to take a stroll by the Seawall with some “Brown Paper Packages” ice cream. Some of which is only available out of this location, with select specialty stores offering snipets of their line.
I was invited by Vancouver Aquarium to attend a special lunch event at Flota Seafood Restaurant. Starting August 29th, 2016, Floata Seafood Restaurant’s new sustainable menu will feature Ocean Wise items. The launching of this new menu is a huge leap forward and shows the support to keep our Oceans from being over fished.
One of the best artisanal ice cream spots around. Earnest is good but sometimes I find too sweet. For real originality, go here. Flavours are constantly changing depending on the season. Miso Salted Caramel and Black Rice Pudding are musts. But any flavour is prob yum!
Who knew that this cute little Italian place with a striped canopy was in Chinatown and across from the Sun Yat Sen Garden of all places? Doing Italian dishes that are reminiscent to what a Noona (italian grandmother) would make, they also serve Brown Paper Packages Ice-cream in a scoop, pint and sandwich form. The food is focused on great quality, local, fresh and organic ingredients. I had the pleasure of trying their lovely menu.
Tried it the other day for the first time squid ink pasta with squid and was absolutely spot on. It was rich and tasty and would definitely recommend it.
Last year I tried my first Brown Paper Packages ice cream sandwich and I wasn’t too impressed but I spotted them at the Food Cart Fest and I thought I’d give them another go (yes this is a very late post). They offered 5 flavours and also a sundae. Their logo is pretty cute!. They had a sign with the White Turtle and the Peanut Butter Cup on display so I was sold on getting those two!
Pazzo Chow did not disappoint in the delicious department, we had a really great satisfying lunch. Each day are new specials, and when they run out you are out of luck. That Friday, we just missed the butternut squash lasagna, so I ordered the Ceci (chickpea) and pasta soup and Curtis got the Panzanella salad with focaccia, tomatoes, arugula, capers, sundried olives and anchovies. YUM! It took every inch of willpower not to order the Nutella focaccia as well. I was craving something sweet after my lunch, so I went ahead and got a Panettone ice cream. It was amazing, creamy, not too sweet, had all the great tastes of a pannettone with the dried fruit. I could have eaten a tub of it!
This place is amazing - charming, delicious food, modest and fun! Having lunch there was like going home to Mom's kitchen - they have captured the charming element of creativity and anticipation -you don't know what's on the menu until that day. Brings back memories of milling around my family kitchen asking, "What's for lunch, what's for dinner Mom?" Simple concept great execution. Tiny European style space made it feel quaint. We ate out side and loved the experience. Must do in Vancouver! I've been back in Ontario for months and still wonder what they are serving at Passa Chow!
I am so confused how this place currently only has a 3.2 star rating. Pazzo Chow is delicious! There is a daily hand crafted menu so the selection always changes. The food is simple, no fuss, cheap and delicious. We are here at least one time per week to sample whatever salad, sandwich or pasta dish Maya has on offer and are never disappointed.
Not to mention Brown Paper Packages Ice Cream Thursday have really made my summer. I love eating ice cream for dinner and look forward to Thursdays all week. Ashley creates a different sundae and float every week as well as the normal scoops, pints and sandwiches that are available.
The selection of high quality Italian goods really is a bonus - you can get everything from pasta sauces, dried pasta, olive oil, truffle spread etc.
This little Italian café is situated kitty corner from the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Chinese Garden and the soccer fields. It is a charming, cute modest space, that reminds me of those little cafes in Europe ran by little old men serving delicious food.
