Yaletown is one of those neighbourhoods that for whatever reason, despite being easy to travel to, has been left relatively unexplored by myself! I was meeting a friend who lived in the area and she suggested that we hit up a favourite spot of her’s, so off we went to Little Saigon. The method of ordering here is a bit different than your run of the mill Vietnamese restaurants. Essentially, you choose how much broth you want, what kind of noodles you want, and however many proteins you want in the soup.
The restaurant is not huge but it has personality! This incredible mural is painted along the back wall separating the diners from the kitchen. The decor is simple but classy with a touch of foodie fun. Their Happy Hour deal is quite incredible. You get three items off their eight-item menu for just $12. What a fantastic deal.
I got their Prawn & Pork Salad Roll with their peanut sauce. I LOVE that peanut sauce. OMG, delicious!!! Everything was so fresh and clean, no MSG…
If this is the mini Pho, I can not imagine how big the regular Pho must be! I added the garnishes, lime juice and then tasted a spoonful and knew there was something missing. Usually when I order Pho, it is take out and there are all these little sauces you add. I asked my server what I was missing. A NEW sauce! They have a SPICY hoisin for the Pho. Oh yeah… Much better! I did not find it super spicy, just incredibly flavourful and exactly what the Pho needed.
I ordered the pork spring rolls but many of these appetizers had vegetarian options. These are available in veggie and tofu. Dipped in their dip-able fish sauce (which still blows my mind that they created such a genius foodie product) it made these crunchy treats a little funky in the best of ways. Damn!

Every Day Is A Food Day

I was craving some Vietnamese food on this cold rainy day so ended up choosing a new restaurant, Little Saigon, in Yaletown to try. For our appetizer, we had the Pork & Prawns Salad Roll which featured vermicelli, lettuce, bean sprouts, pickled carrots, cucumber, basil, pork and prawns wrapped in rice paper served with a house made peanut sauce. The rice paper was thin and they didn’t cheap out on the filling. For our entree, we had the Saigon Special which included grilled lean pork, pork patties, chicken patties, 4 tiger prawns and 2 spring rolls served atop vermicelli. We were super impressed that the food was still warm when it arrived and the portions were great. We especially liked the pork patties which were seasoned perfectly.
Their pho is great. I enjoy the soup a lot. They claim no MSG, just TLC. Chicken patti is my regular order and I usually pay for extra vegetables. The prawns in the seafood pho did not taste fresh. The beef was shewy. But I just love the broth.
The rice rolls were delicious. The rice wrap was very sticky, a good condistency.
Well, the rice with Lemon Grass Chicken was the worst. Not edible. Tasted like the chicken was 4 days old. So, stick with the pho.
I first came to know of Little Saigon in Yaletown from a friend who is a regular customer there. He loved the fact that their food is MSG free yet still very delicious. I was curious about his recommendation and ventured to Little Saigon on two occasions. Having very much enjoyed my dining experiences there, I was very excited when Little Saigon invited me for a menu tasting. During the tasting, I also had the opportunity to learn more about them including the story behind a beautiful tribute hidden against a wall.
I love pho, and I wanted to get together with friends to dine for pho. My friend knew this place since he tries to avoid MSG and their pho doesn’t use any. Their tagline is “No Msg, just TLC.”. They even have their own sauce products that are made here in Abbotsford, BC. I ordered the Large Shredded Chicken Pho $9. It came in a nice large bowl, with the sprouts and lime on a plate underneath. So with each individual order getting their own, I got to have lots (all) the sprouts
Pictured on the blog: set combo of grilled pork, salad roll and spring roll. When I was first told about this great pho place in Yaletown, I was a little sceptical. Good pho in Yaletown? Really? Verdict: Yes! There is good pho AND vietnamese food in Yaletown thanks to Little Saigon. The menu is standard fare found at typical pho joints but everything is done very well - from the presentation, to the freshness, flavour and portions.
Situated on Pacific Blvd right on the edge of Yaletown, this is one of their three locations serving up Vietnamese eats with the motto: “No MSG, only TLC.” I know so many people who are sensitive to MSG so after hearing that, I can now share this place with them!. Our spread of yummy eats!
Great pho restaurant. Doesn't taste like they use MSG.... Decent amount of meat. Meat is not too fatty either. Great service too, always a good visit.
The food was excellent, a little over priced for a vietnamese resturant but you pay for the yaletown experience. Ordered pretty much all their appitizers and the big saigon bowl. All was excellent, the only thing that didnt jump out was the sub, i would def go back, but for your instant vietnamese craving ill still take the kingsway stretch.
Dopest pho i've ever had. Dope pho. comfy place. calm atmosphere. quick and attentive service. and fair prices. we will be back *high five*
I decided to let him pick the destination this time since we decided to do something in his neighbourhood and he suggested Little Saigon, somewhere I’d never heard of before. He mentioned he liked this place since it was one of the cleaner pho places he knew of and that they didn’t use MSG. I wasn’t in any mood to suggest otherwise so I agreed and decided to walk over to his place where we then walked to Little Saigon. It’s a rather clean and modern looking place for a Vietnamese restaurant as The Italian mentioned. The chairs and cushioned seating along the wall were all solid black with a few extra tables outside on their patio. A rather odd mural of a lady could be seen behind the bar, I wondered if it was the owner of the establishment. It was just after noon and it was fairly empty, but by the end of our stay things had picked up a bit which is always a good sign. The menu had a number of pages with various starters, Vietnamese subs, pho and other various entrées. Service was exceptionally good, with a soft spoken Asian lady being very attentive and friendly.
Great spring rolls. My wife and I ate here today for the first time and it was delicious! The spring rolls were our favourite, the best we've had in a long time. Great service too. Definitly order the spring rolls!
Great food and prices, fantasyic service and nice area... Highly recommended!

Nice broth, lots of rare beef, decent amount of noodles and yummy sprouts to throw on top. All for $8.
