We wandered into Turk's on Canada Day and it was quite busy but we got a seat. My husband got a mocha which he loved and my decaf latte with a shot of hazelnut was the best coffee I have ever had. It was robot without being bitter and no migraine came on. Loved it. You can read the full review on my website Suzie the Foodie.
This is a nice, cozy coffee shop and the baristas are friendly, as well. They have limited seating though, and it can get crowded quite easily.
Cool little place A nice.... Cool little place
A nice representation of what commercial drive is (was?) all about. Independent business with an eclectic clientele. My latte was excellent and a a slice of banana bread was very tasty. Staff appeared knowledgeable and helpful. Spall place with unpretentious decor. I would come back.
2nd living room. Look, you can debate about the quality of coffee all day, i chose turks because of it's atmosphere which is laid back and unpretentious. i'm not there everymorning to argue about the notes of the roast, i'm there to have a quiet moment, drink my morning cuppa and say hi to friends/neighbors as they head out for the day.
"Everybody Must Get Stoned...". Next, at Charles and Commercial, is "Turk's". Outside, a congregation of new age hippies, and cigarette smoking students over populate the patio tables, and block the doorway. Upon entering, I am immediately taken back to a memory from the Grasshopper in Amsterdam - well known for it's solicitation and consumption of weed - fun times. However, I was on the official pursuit of caffeine, not THC. It was dark, dingy and reeked of weed. Blasting in the background was the course line to Bob Dylan's ultimate - "Everybody must get stoned" - seriously? Not today. With a pivot in our steps, we exit Turk's without liquids, but head up the street.
Turks coffee is the best quality of coffee here in vancouver over all! The café is so nice and comforting and the expresso is breath taking. Im really involved with coffee and the first sip i rook was the best tasting sip ive ever had. Its so commercial drive and its so hip! I highly advise you to try turks coffee house and i highly advise you to go to turks west ( the coffee roasting plant) !! Hope you take this review in and go try some of there cafés!
It's undoubtoudly the best coffee house in vanouver right after milano coffee, that place rocks too, I highly recommend it go there as soon as you get the chance.
This year for Dine Out Vancouver, I had the pleasure of participating in the East End Brunch Crawl, courtesy of Urbanspoon! Thankyou to Urbanspoon for giving me the opportunity to participate in both Street Food City III and the East Side Brunch Crawl! The concept of the Brunch Crawl is you receive a "passport" with a list of restaurants. From 10 am to 2 pm, you get to visit the restaurants on the list at your leisure. At each stop, you get the sample the restaurant's offerings and your passport is marked off. The restaurants participating in this year's Brunch Crawl were: Yolk's Breakfast, Famoso's Neapolitan Pizzeria, Parallel 49 Brewing, Tyler's Taco & Tea, Oollo Tea, Turks Coffee Lounge, Dolce Amore, Siddartha's Indian Kitchen and Timbre Restaurant!
