My all time favourite Vietnamese restaurant! I always stop here when in Vancouver
Our alltimefavourite Vietnamese Restaurant in Vancity!!! We tried almost all the vietRestau in Vancouver but no one beats this one yet! the BEST when it comes to taste and service! #superb
Always tasty! Very affordable. Great service and they do excellent take out! I'm glad the noodles are rice noodles so I don't have to worry about my wheat allergy either!
I really enjoy eating Vietnamese food – it is delicious, cheap, and filling! One night, I was feeling like trying a place that we haven’t gone to and trying out other Vietnamese dishes that weren’t a pho or lemongrass dish. After some Yelping, we came up with Mui Ngo Gai because they had a big menu offering different types of Vietnamese food that we don’t usually order, and a high rating online!
Good service
Great Authentic Vietnamese food
one of my favorite vietnamese restaurant
many options on menu - even traditional family meal
parking at rear or street parking
convenient location
average price and good portions
if i had to choose 1 dish: caramelized dishes with soup for nice family dinner
would i go back? yes
We’ve been going to this place since it was located in Nanaimo and E.Broadway! It’s been in this Kingsway location for a few years now and the place still serves delicious meals! We’ve ordered 1/2 the items on menu and we’ve enjoyed each dish! My go to are the special pho soup, deep friend spring rolls, fried tofu (my kids favorite) and Vietnamese coffee. I gave the place 5 🌟 because the owners are such nice people! Sometimes their kids are sitting at the table doing some homework and they’ve always asked how my kids are doing. We’ve been going to this place (Nanaimo then Broadway) for a number of years!
Our favourite place go-to place for pho! I crave for the pho here all the time. The broth is tasty and not greasy, and the noodles have a good chew to them. The restaurant is a run by an older couple and their family. The restaurant is clean and service is friendly, unlike your typical viet place. Hours are open late until midnight and prices are very reasonable.
Tasty Vietnamese food overall, their pho is not as good as their other dishes. I also find they put too much MSG in the pho so the aftertaste is not so good.
Their grilled chicken and spring roll on vermicelli was good though but I feel like the portion is a bit on the smaller side compared to other Viet restaurants for the same price. Taste-wise was great though.
Been going here for past 5 years and it always meets my expectations. We usually have: short ribs, seafood soup, chicken wings---(omg the BEST) spring rolls & fried tofu. By far the best authentic Vietnamese cuisine in town. And the staff is beyond amazing.
We will continue to only come here for our vietnamese cravings 🍜👌🏼
I came here last night for dinner. The older lady and older gentlemen greeted me and we're very friendly in their service. They even did follow ups. I ordered the bbq pork salad roll and it was very refreshing. Loved the grilled marinated pork. Love eating with my hands. Then my entree came. I ordered the egg crepe. They give generous amounts of fresh basil, mint, veggies. The crepe is beautiful... Crisp on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. Absolutely delicious. Roll that up and dip it into the fish sauce and BAM... That's all she wrote. Try something a little different besides ordering pho. The vietnamese culture has plenty of other food items. Interior looked like it was renovated very nicely. Loved my experience and I love eating with food in my hands lol. I would go again for those items.
MùiNgòGai is a simple restaurant without much ambiance. But basically clean and spacious. Price for portion is fairly good as most things come with rice or noodles, making it easy to get a filling meal. Free wifi but you need a password. SHAW wifi as well. Thịt Kho tộ Caramelized pork, 越式炆豬肉煲 ($12.95) A special dish in which the delicate sweetness of a light caramel balances the vibrant saltiness of fish sauce. You can have it spicy or not, as it is cooked to order. Quite salty so eat with a lot of rice, this was a Vietnamese way of stretching a little meat a long way.
went there late night at around 10pm, was one of the few restaurants that open late, was already eyeing this store since a week ago since i was living in the area, so then didn't hesitated and went inside and took a look a the menu, menu was rather interesting as they serve not only regular pho but the one that i'm getting snail, fried tofu, and green onion pho. they also serve sharing portions as well some raises my curiosity like frog leg and can't remember the sauce though, maybe curry.
so back to the main topic the snail and fried tofu pho, when it first came the smell, was oh my god goood type of smell i guess it's the combination of the broth and green onion, as hungry as i was i held back against my natural response which is to chow down the pho in 5 scoops, i first tasted the soup, it was great, real great, the seafood smell of the snail and the freshly chopped green onion blends really well, and so the soup was great. then next is the rice noodle, even though there were options to change the noodle i decided to stick to the rice noodle, and one bite of the rice noodle, it's firm not that tangy and the flavor is a combination of rice and the slight seafood broth from the soup. and finally the deep fried tofu... aw my gaa, maybe i was too hungry but again the tofu was deepfried reminds me of tofu puffs in hotpot restaurants, but slightly more crisper and the inside was quite solid like regular tofu. was really surprised with that, because until the last bite the tofu remained slightly felt slightly crunchy at the outer layer.
trully recommend the place :)
cheers
One of the best broths I've tasted. It was light, but still flavorful and I think it was free of MSG. It's set at a good price, but the portions are pretty small so appetizers and extras are recommended. The servers are super nice and friendly.
Check it out if you're close by. I'll definitely be back.
Just another pho restaurant in the "Little Saigon" stretch of Kingsway in East Vancouver. You get all the usual kind of stuff, like the bowls of noodle soup and cold vermicelli, but there's also some more unique menu items too, like frog legs. Pretty decent, but nothing special.

Been coming to this neighbourhood for Vietnamese food since my University days and this is the best place in memory. Friendly staff and a spacious atmosphere are great but the best part is the food! You can see the quality in the ingredients when they set the table and most importantly you can taste the difference quality makes! Reasonable prices and a good variety of dishes on the menu. One of my favorite spots! By the way if you don't know how to drink the Vietnamese coffee, the staff will be happy to show you.
Best Vietnamese in Van. Fresh, complex flavours, great service.
There are a lot of Vietnamese restaurants along Kingsway and this is the only one I will go to. Not only is the food delicious and the portions reasonable, but this is a great place to take friends that have never had (or have minimal exposure to) Vietnamese food. The restaurant is very clean and the waitstaff are always friendly. Menu has pictures, descriptions of food and small blurbs about some of the cultural aspects behind food, making the menu very accessible. Love that this place is open relatively late, has free wifi and is spacious!
WOW. Hands down the best and most unique Vietnamese food I've ever had. The restaurant was spacious, the servers were welcoming, and overall a really great dining experience. I will definitely come back...tomorrow.
I drank the whole bowl of noodle soup and wasn't thirsty at all for the next 3 hours. There s really no msg. Small is a good portion for girls.
Back to revisit after more than 6 month hiatus. dinner. tea ok. ordered shrimp salad and grill pork roll. peanut sauce no crushed peanuts. shrimp n pork rolls taste ok n size the same. then pork chop fried egg on rice, & 3 meat on rice noodles. taste is the same. pork chop slim, but thicker than the previous piece of paper. cautiously optimistic. free wifi.
This place is so good! The soup for the pho is so flavorful, and the spring rolls... Oh man the spring rolls! So fresh and crispy! Have to check it out... It's my favourite go-to place for pho... And they serve large portions for a reasonable price
Great selection. I used to go to this place when it was on Nanaimo and Broadway. That was our weekend pho place after a late night of partying. Then it moved and I never knew where it moved to. I recently found it at its' new location on Kingsway and Victoria. I'm so glad I found them again and will now be going there again!!
The food is still the same deliciousness with lots of variety of regional dishes to choose from. I'm not a huge fan of pho soups but I like that theirs is lighter tasting than other places where it tastes super greasy and salty. I really like the chili chicken dish, it's not super spicey but just enough of a kick and very savory. I also like the spicey fried tofu, it's never too greasy. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and the portions. One thing about the spring rolls though is I find the wrappers they use to be a bit too doughy. I don't know if they use a different kind but they are not as crispy as other places and I prefer the crispier texture. But they are still delicious anyway.
The place is clean and modern looking and very spacious. I really appreciate the framed pictures they have up which adds a really nice cultural flair to place without making it look cheesey.
The staff is as friendly as I remember and they make you feel so at home. There are boosters seats available for babies and there are always young kids in there after school having their pho after school snack. This is a very family oriented place it seems like.
I really recommend this place for some good Vietnamese food.
Really great vietnamese food. Reminds me of my mom's cooking! They offer lots of options that other places don't have. If you want to try authentic vietnamese food other than pho or grilled meats (although they have them too!), you must try Mui Ngo Gai :)
Awesome service + super sleek. The pho wasn't the most flavourful, but it definitely had zero MSG, which is a big plus for me. I asked for extra tripe in my #18, and they didn't charge me extra for it.. which is rare, and much appreciated. They gave me plenty of tripe too.
What makes me want to come back however, is the awesome service. The servers are extremely friendly, and look like they enjoy where they work. Also, this is one of the better looking Vietnamese restaurants.
The interior is spotless, and the decor new, stylish, and cozy.
Went to try the Bun Oq. Few places in Vancouver have Bun Oq. Mui Ngo Gai looks newly reno'ed. Service was good and attitude excellent. The condiment had an extra herb, parillia - shiso. Ordered minced pork and shrimp salad rolls and brochettes. Rolls were good, tasty; the peanut sauce - I like mine with lots of chopped peanuts so was disappointed when there were so few. Brochettes good flavorful, springroll excellent wrapper light not overly greasy filling minced very fine melted in your mouth, w/soup $23
Very Nice. Nice food, Nice Atmosphere!!! Super Good, NO MSG!!!
I am Super allergic to MSG, when I say NO MSG which means NO MSG...
Thank you owner for the reply... MSG to me are some are from the food during cook and some are add on to our food. I also understand that MSG are different kind of "sodium"... Which an adult should no more than 2300mg, more perfect between 1300-1500mg.
Love this place! You cannot go wrong with the lemongrass chicken vermicelli bowl. For soups, my favorite is the one with the fish cake. Ask for extra dill if you like dill. It's tasty and not fishy at all. Pho is alright as is their Bun Bo Hue.
Decent Pho. The Pho here was decent but it seemed to be clumped together in a ball so had to work it free with my chopsticks and then all was good and tasty :)
On the other hand, the Vietnamese spring rolls didn't look remotely like the traditional looking ones I'm used to.. It tasted alright though so looks can't be everything, am I right?
Great Vietnamese Place. The food here is absolutely wonderful. I'm a big fan of Hot and Sour style Vietnamese soup and so it's always the first dish I try when a restaurant gets to offer it.
This one makes a great one, and they're smart they put their peppers on the side so that if people want their soup to pack more heat they can always add it on afterwards.
I tried some of their beef pho, but I found the beef a little dry and average. It wasn't necessarily bad, but I didn't feel that anything had stood out.
But the place is relative large and can seat families. It's a good place to go if you're looking for food beyond the pho.
My rating 3.5/5 stars.
Fast, friendly service. The food was great and moderately priced. I will be returning to eat there again soon.
Our Vietnamese comfort food place. This place is just great. They are friendly and consistent in their quality of food. Their prices are great and they offer a wide variety of Vietnamese dishes and noodle soup options besides just Pho.
We come here consistently for that end of day, too tired to cook place. Where we know exactly what to order and what we will be getting. Plus they're always open!
My secret East Vancouver restaurant for some of the mist delicious Vietnamese Specialty Soups You have ever tasted.... So much more than just Pho ! The dishes are many and represent some local fare one might find in a fancy restaurant in Saigon, or at a special famlly gathering... Priced to keep You smiling as well!
This is the real deal. They’ve got specialty soups, crepes, hot pots, and authentic sounding meat entrees. With dishes like goat stir fried in coconut milk and frog legs with lemongrass and hot chill, can anyone ever go wrong? (Well maybe, but they had me at coconut milk).
I was searching around for another late night restaurant when Mui Ngo Gai caught my eye. I've tried quite a few Vietnamese places in town, but admittedly haven't really branched out to try that many past what have become family favourites. Most of my favoured pho restaurants are usually closed by 10pm, so I was trying to find either 24 hour ones or ones open a little later for those late night pho cravings. Mui Ngo Gai fit the bill with a 12 midnight closing time. Located along Kingsway just past the intersection with Victoria (heading "South"), with street and side-street parking available. I think there also might be parking behind the restaurant, but we parked on the side street. Just two doors down is another Vietnamese pho place, but 24 hours. I think we'll try it another time :) It certainly seemed like a favourite for a lot of police, because there were 2 squad cars and a van's worth sitting inside waiting for food! Haha. Inside was well-lit, with photos scattered on the walls w

The decoration and set up reminded me a lot of Asia, being kinda kitschy in a Vietnamese kind of way, but comfortable and homely.
It's a gloomy and rainy sunday afternoon. After some thought, Marv decided pho would be the best choice for a meal on a day like this! So we made our way over to Mui Ngo Gai located on Nanaimo and Broadway. This is my favourite place for pho, it's close by to home and has a pretty good pho broth! Mui Ngo Gai 2408 Nanaimo St, Vancouver BC Tel#: (604) 251-3254 It was fairly empty since we had arrived at bout 4ish. There were a couple of tables with dirty dishes, guess those customers just left! Upon entering the place, the first thing you notice is all the hanging leaves/vines. The place is fairly clean, the walls are adorned with pictures. Feels kinda cozy! To start us off, we ordered the Sliced Pork Salad Roll. I like this better than the shrimp. I'm not a big fan of seafood, so I guess meat ones will always be better for me lol! They gave a heaping amount of their peanut sauce, I can never get enough of this dip! The dip may be the reaso
Blog post contains video with overview of menu items.
One time while driving down Kingsway I noticed the bright awning of Mui Ngo Gai . That led me to notice the website address they posted on their window. I thought it was interesting that a Vietnamese restaurant that’s not part of a chain to have a website setup. So I logged on to check them out. Boy am I glad that I did. Mui Ngo Gai is owned by a couple where the wife is Vietnamese. They chronicle (through their blog) their travels to different parts of Vietnam, trying out the different types of pho of different regions, and recreating them at their restaurant. The regions include and are not limited to Hanoi, Hue, My Tho, Saigon, etc. This leads to lots of different flavors and combinations in the “Specialty Soup” section, some of which I’ve never seen before anywhere else in the Lower Mainland. They’ve also included very good descriptions of each dish. Check out their website and see for yourself. Of course they have the good ol’ staple of beef pho for the unadventurous bunch
Attention foodies … especially those of you who are adventurous and enjoy exploring new and unique food. This is another restaurant that excites me … a lot. I think it will you too. I stumble upon Mui Ngo Gai by accident a couple of weeks ago when we d
