This is my go to place in the neighbourhood for good vegan food. Friendly staff, good food at good prices and most things can be made vegan which keeps me happy. I used to eat at the owner's (Victoria) other restaurant Me Kong back in the day too.
My favourite thing to order is the peanut sate pho veggie style. Thanks for all your hard work. Much love ❤✌
This place is great! Flavors are on point and are plentiful. .order after order..impressed thoroughly! !
Amazing food for the senses. Victoria and her family always make you feel welcome. The home made gelato is to die for.
I love all of the Vegan options!! Especially the Vegan Peanut Sate Pho
The food is always fresh and delicious. The soups are amazing!
It's around the corner where I live, and it's awesome. Love the food and service oh and the ice-cream is very good!
The BEST Vietnamese food in town. I am vegetarian, and grew up eating Vietnamese food, and this is my go-to spot for delicious eats!
Neighborhood place! Easy walk from Britannia library. You’ll need to line up at cashier and order your meal. Delish soup base and vermicelli bowls are good too! The Vietnamese coffee needs a bit more sweetened condensed milk but maybe I just like mine sweeter. I will try more items on menu
Order first and then sit down at a table and they'll bring your food out to you. There's plenty of tables to choose from. They'll also bring out beansprouts and Thai basil for your pho.
I had the special mixed beef pho and my boyfriend had the spicy lemongrass beef and pork vermicelli noodles. I liked my pho. It had beef balls, tendon, tripe, and slices of beef. It was a good variety. There was plenty of noodles and the broth was flavourful. I had a spoonful of the broth from my boyfriend's noodle soup and it was pretty good. It had a unique flavour and a bit spicy.
The servers here are really nice and the food is solid. The best part is that they also have gelato here. I had two scoops of guava and blueberry in a cup. I really liked these flavours. It really tasted like blueberry and the guava had a nice tart taste to it. Also, their cup was pretty cute since it was flower shaped. I would probably come back. Food here is pretty cheap considering the portion and they don't compromise on flavour either.
Sunday afternoon decided to stop in and give them a try. Menu selection is quite good and prices very reasonable. Thought we would try the Wonton soup for $4.00. Generous portions for the price. Spicy and very tasty. Definitely will go back to try other items on the menu.
Very good pho. Had the peanut the first time and it was delicious, went back few days later and tried the spicy Seafood pho and it was also very good. Spring rolls were amazing and wrapped in a real rice paper.
Very tasty!. Just got back from here for dinner, it was great! My date and I started by splitting an order of the "meat" spring rolls (they also have veggie ones available). They were $5.50 for an order of two, and were really good---very crispy, not greasy at all, and the pork filling was of high quality. I also had a Vietnamese iced coffee and it hit the spot (date had a can of A&W root beer to drink). My date got the rare beef pho ($8), and liked it a lot. I had the spicy sate soup ($8), and it was quite good as well, though not as spicy as ones I've had elsewhere. The broth had a pleasant creaminess to it, which rounded out the spice.
We will definitely be coming back. We're not Vietnamese, and can't really speak for its authenticity, but we've tried our fair share of pho at various places and Five Elements sits high in the rankings. This is also a place I'd be comfortable coming to by myself; it has a casual, friendly vibe and they have wi-fi.
Wonderful!. What a great place, delicious food, friendly service, nice atmosphere!
YUM. It is so great to have Victoria back (she is the previous owner of the Mekong on the Drive). She has a gift with food, in flavour, but also in thinking about healthy eating. Her menu has diverse and delicious options. The ambiance is very comfortable for casual dining or take out.
Just remember to order before you sit down.
A take out order took about 20 minutes. I ordered the crispy spring roll (2 for $4.5) and lemongrass chicken and pork chop ($9). The order was big with a lot of rice (two bowls). Spring roll was thrown into the takeout container and it was very sloppy. I also ordered a special ham Vietnamese sub ($4). Bread was extra crunchy and very dry. Their meat ball were very chalky.
Fresh and tasty. Great food' crunchy fresh vegetables with yummy flavors. meats nicely grilled and also flavorful. the gellatoes looked delicious but we were too full to try.
milkshake was wonderfully light and frothy.
if you want to experience tasty without heavy and greasy this is it!
The lines keep getting longer and the food just keeps on coming at Tasting Plates Vancouver...
Interesting mix of cuisines, but I was intrigued so we went inside to check it out. Click for larger image Five Elements Cafe carries an array of foods; they have vietnamese dishes such as pho and subs, Thai dishes, caffeinated beverages, tea, gelato and frozen yogurt. You can click on the picture for a bigger version of the menu. Price wise, most of the dishes are under $10 other than the sizzling plates. They have a display of their selection of teas for you to smell, which I thought was a nice touch. You pay and order at the counter, tell the cashier where you are going to sit and
hippoCHAN and I went with the typical Pho Rice Noodles w/ Beef. It may be typical, but it was still really tasty! There’s almost nothing better than a hot bowl of pho on a dreary, rainy day! The broth was good on its own, but I wanted to spice it up with… what else? Sriracha! The rare beef was tender and delicious. Great, simple pho.
