Excited to visit!!! Good stuff lads!
For Fannypack’s birthday this year I took her to Como Taperia on Main Street. I had passed by this place many times and had always wanted to try it, so this was a great opportunity to do so!. Como Taperia doesn’t take reservations unless you’re a big party, so I emailed the restaurant prior to see how busy it would be for 2 people on a Tuesday evening. I was told we would have no problems getting a table, so off we went!
[3.5/5]Como Taperia is a fun and vibrant spot that serves small tasty plates, “conservas” canned seafood, delicious Gin & Tonic, and many other bar menu options. Before I will get a chance to visit Spain, I would like to think the food here is close to the real deal. But if you sit at a table and order from the menu, it’s rather like going to have a nice dinner experience of a world cuisine. For 2 of us, having 2 cocktails each and sharing 3 tapa dishes easily costs over $100. I wonder if it gets this pricy doing tapas in Spain. It's a shame that ordering alcohol in restaurants gets so pricey in Vancouver.
Some of the finer dishes were the simplest including the truffle grilled cheese or staple hamburguesa while something like the more expertly prepared octopus or squid (chipirones and romesco) dishes were a delightful combination of flavours.
