Great Cream Puffs with a Delicious Stuffingand all are fresh....Loved the choco brownie cream puff .
Refreshing healthy drinks are also there .They have wonderful time employees who are adamant about sharing their experience about products
We were craving something sweet one day, and had passed by this place several times. Knowing this was a popular chain in the area we thought of giving it a try. Got the matcha and the vanilla filled into two different types of puffs. Were fairly happy and satiated our sweet craving. Would definitely visit again if we are walking past it and craving something sweet :D
Edit: We now live in the area, so we dont mind going here every now and then to satisfy our dessert craving :) The creme brulee was good too.
Despite the over cooked exterior, the filling was rich and flavorful. The matcha flavoured cream puff was large, generously filled, and smooth. Would have gotten a higher rating if the pastry was perfectly baked.
I love their cream puffs especially the green tea or matcha cream puff flavour. I also like the cheesecake stick. Bought for my family and they also like the cream puff but they like the vanilla flavour more. The cream puff is bigger than other places but I still don't find the price is cheap at all
On a random day, I decided to try Beard Papa in downtown. I had the coffee and my friend had the green tea. The taste = sooooo good and not too rich either. It's a nice size for dessert and definitely would love if they have the mini version of the different flavours.
The cheesecake stick is the best invention ever. For any cheesecake lover who just wants a little taste of cheesecake - get this! I love the texture, the taste, the portion and everything about this cheesecake stick. Aside from that, yes the cream puffs are good too and my favorite is ofcourse, the green tea flavor!
Beard Papa's is an international creampufferie that originated in Japan. Being a fan of them in Asia, it was nice to see that the chains here have maintained their consistency and taste. They typically offer a variety of puff fillings that have an Asian influence, such as mango or green tea. A nice way to finish a Vancouver meal!
Amazing! We walked by and thought we would try it. Tried the original puff with vanilla filling ( you can choose the filling) and my hubby got creme Brulee. So good. Really recommend. The shop is small but staff are friendly. Would go back again.
Posted on April 26, 2015 by mag_mei I remembered long ago when this franchise first opened in Vancouver. Cream puffs soon became all the trend. Now generations of trendy desserts later I am finally trying their home made cream puffs. Though given their size and weight they were more cream balls than puffs. Their trademark yellow was eye catching. The colour draped their awning and was represented in their small shop. Their mascot too wore the same sunshine yellow. He, an elderly gentleman with a broad smile and white beard dressed in yellow waiters. I believe his beard and his age was what their dessert shoppe was named after. Though I found the connection a reach. On the door was a listing of the cream puff flavours in stock today. Vanilla, Green tea, and Caramel. A different day, a different flavour on rotation. Though given the presence of vanilla and green tea every day I suspect these were their core offerings and their best sellers. Strawberry, chocolate, and mango were also on rotation. Though I wished they offered more than just three flavours at a time, had they, I would have gotten one of each today. Diners like me want variety and want to try all the flavours of something they liked. Though having them on rotation means repeat visits throughout the week. I would still like to see more flavours in general and maybe even a flavour of the month. Perhaps something timely, something tethered to the season. The options for fillings are endless after all. Any fruit, sweets, or nut flavours could and would work. Given the beginning of spring and the cherry blossoms being in bloom, a cherry blossom cream flavoured puff would have been fun. It certainly would have gotten more bodies through the door. Though as a franchise it might be difficult to launch and to keep consistent across their many stalls. To my surprise they didn’t only offer cream puffs, but a few other French desserts as well. Cream filled eclairs, eclairs topped with chocolate and almond slivers, an
Best cream puffs in Vancouver!
Original is the best
Flavour burst. Green tea. Mango. Vanilla. Those were the flavours of cream puffs available to us when we showed up and cleaned out the remaining mini cream puffs at 6 p.m. on a Thursday. I'm sure we didn't impress the line behind us, but that's a testament to how in demand these cream puffs are.
The popularity is well-deserved. The flavours are pretty strong with a great essence of green tea and mango in the creamy centres. The pastry has a nice crunch on the outside with the soft fluffy inside. If you love high-end creampuffs, you deserve a visit to Beard Papa's, just go early, because on a prime location on Robson, I suspect they run out quite often during the rushes.
Pretty good place for cream puffs when they arent sold out. I have had better in hawaii but cant go there all the time. ;).Had the vanilla and mango. very good for a hot summer day.A must try at least once.
Best Cream Puffs. The place on Robson Street is tiny but the cream puffs are GOOD! The cream is very light yet flavourful. Tried both the plain original one and the chocolate eclair, and both are really good. Want to try other flavours but always end up getting the original one because it is so good. Can't wait to go back again!
Really worth a try. Sometimes it is hard to see how a place can get buy on such a simple item, but when I'm in the area it us hard not to get a box full and bring them back to the office. Just don't inhale while you bring the powder sugar covered puff to your mouth, or you'll be coughing up powdered sugar for an hour. I stick with the chocolate ones now.
Original is still the best. After visiting Beard Papa's on a number of occasions, I still always order the Original cream puff with vanilla custard. It's the classic flavour, and the thick, creamy custard tastes best when it's not watered down with artificial fruit and tea colours and flavourings.
I also love that this Robson location is on a street full of other cool Japanese restaurants, and only a few blocks away from the Cineplex movie theatres on Granville St. Cream puffs make for great late night snacks or quick desserts after dinner.
Yummy =]. Oh man i had this when i went to the olympics. it was JAMMED. i had to wait for about 30minutes just to get my half dozen. they come in those neat little boxes and each cream puff is individually wrapped too.
when i brought it home for my friends, we couldnt get enough of them, they were just that good.
i just hope that people wont get the branch on Robson Street confused with the one on Denman Street, though both are still great.
I'll definately be getting another one of these the next time i see it around =]
4/5 Their cream puffs are pretty much perfect. They are like really light and airy croissants with a custard inside. Well what do you know, they still are. I got the matcha one and the vanilla one. ($2.50 each) Sadly, at 5pm, they weren't the freshest and were quite cold BUT The matcha one was seriously still amazing. Perfect amount of sugar and that custard. Wow. Angel
With only $7 in my pocket, I didn't know what I could eat for lunch... and finding a place where I can buy lunch for less than $10 downtown is quite rare. After much thinking, I remembered Viet Sub. It's a small (really small) hole in the wall sandwiched between the Beard Papa's and Kushi Box on Robson. They serve a variety of Vietnamese subs, pho and salad rolls. It's a place where you can get lunch for under $10! The salad rolls are about $2.75, subs range from $3.25 - $4.25 and pho for $6.45. My co-work
I was having a stressful day at work, so during my lunch break; I headed over to Beard Papa's for some cream puffs. That's the usual thing that cheers me up, sweets! I'm actually not a big fan of sweets, but I do love my cream puffs! The location on Robson does not have many flavors and they have a schedule, so they only have 2 flavors available per day. They just have the usual flavors that you would see in the other Beard Papa's. I grabbed it to go as usual since I didn't want to be the one in the office that makes everyone else jealous. I went home with the little baggie and shared it with my sister. Sharing is caring right? Eating it all by myself would be a little bit selfish. I gave my sister the Chocolate Cream Puff ($1.75). She quite enjoyed it as usual. The cream is quite light and it is usually filled up very nicely so the cream tried to escape as you take a bite. I had the Green Tea Cream Puff ($1.75). I think one of my favorite is the green tea. The green tea taste is very
Luckily there was a Beard Papa's right next door to Japadog so that we could get the taste from our previous debacle out of our mouths. The cream puffs there were tasty with a sweet filling and hard chocolate shell across the top.
Walked by the newest Beard Papa location on Robson yesterday and decided to by a batch of 6 original cream puffs.
