Clean. Good service. Enjoyed food. Will go again. we usually only go out for special occasions Relaxing
Absolutely delicious! And enjoyed the individual booths.
I enjoy this restaurant since 2001.
One of most most favorite Korean restaurants.
Real Korean food in Canada yes the real thing!
Great authentic food. I'm Korean so I know what good taste is like. I really like kim chi here is fresh and seems homemade. Fried rice is good too! Service is always polite and they care.
The food we received here was solid for the visit. For such a big party (10 adults and 5 small children and babies), we were impressed by the food quality and the attentive service. We didn’t have BBQ as we didn’t want the kids crawling around the sizzling hot grill, but I would like to come back for a BBQ feast. The restaurant was a regular in the “Best Korean” category at the Restaurant Awards. But they didn’t care to do anything innovative to keep up with the dining trends. However, if they are keeping the customers happy, that’s all it matters.
Cho Sun is a Korean BBQ restaurant located on Kingsway, Vancouver BC. It’s the only Korean restaurant near my place. My boyfriend and I had Korean food at this restaurant a couple of times. We had a great time eating there
Location: The restaurant is located on one of the busiest streets in Vancouver, 5 to 10 mins away from Metrotown, which keeps its always super busy. It’s a medium size of the restaurant. Inside the restaurant, it has traditional Asian style decorations on the wall. Very large space inside it.
Service: The servers in this restaurant are all from Asia, so they have a great variety of food including Korean, Korean BBQ, Chinese Korean, and Japanese (sushi) cuisine, which satisfies both of us while choosing dish.
Food: The taste of Food was great, authentic, and flavourful. Calamari $5.95 – Deep fried squid legs with mayo sauce on the side. It’s 100% Asian Style Calamari. The taste was OK. May need more squid legs for the prices. Kimchi Soup $9.95 – Spicy Kimchi stew with pork, tofu and vegetable. It’s one of my favorite dish in this restaurant. The soup was boiling hot. The taste was sour and spicy, which is very authentic. Lots of Tofu and Kimichi in the pot. Totally worth this price. Hot Stone Bibimbap $11.95 – Steamed rice topped with sauteed vegetables, chooped beef and a fried eggs. My boyfriend always ordered this dish. I love eating this with super hot sauce. The hot stone was extremely “hot” so that we have to be very careful when we mixed everything and eat them.Sweet & Sour Pork $17.95 – Deep – fried pork with a lightly sweet sour sauce. The taste was more like the Pork Dish from my hometown – Guo Bao Rou. It was our first time trying this dish. We loved it. Free Kimichi, Sweet Potato, bean sprouts, and Spicy Vegetables.
Price : the price of food was a little bit expensive.
One of the busiest Korean bbq places in Vancouver. The quality is decent, but their prices are in general higher than typical Korean bbq places.
Nice ambience and plenty of seating.
Service is attentive!
This place has been around for so long and it’s still packed even at lunch. Food is flavourful and the side dishes are on point. The bbq is always good.
• located in a busy neighborhood but you can find enough parking in this area
• this was the first place where I tried and fell in love with Korean bbq (lol).
• good amount of serving, averagely priced, good service as well
• i really love the flavours of the marinade they use for their meats, its that good!
• I’ve been back here several times and I recommend it
○poor / slow service / one time they demanded more tips
○decent food/ not my favorite korean place/ you can ask them to bbq for you inside if you dont want to bbq yourself and smells like bbq
○a tad on the pricey side But are sharing dishes so you can split the cost
○If u had to choose 1 dish: their bbq combo
○would i go back? Maybe
First time came here and it was very busy restaurant. My family ordered the platter of short ribs, chicken and pork, seafood pancake, several bibimbap bowls, pork bones soup with potatoes and fried rice. Overall I like the food here especially the seafood pancake. I like the condiments here also especially the sweet potatoes. The soup is good but Seol Doobaegi restaurant has bit more flavour. The customer service is good here, friendly and accommodating. They also parking lot and street parking which is a bonus when you go in large group. Definitely one of the Korean restaurants I would go to.
Super yummy and flavourful with the huge cuts of meat marinated to perfection. Only downside was the lack of fans to clear the air.. Left the place reeking of BBQ but totally worth it. They also have great sushi. Highly recommend.
I would definitely come back again. Their bbq was very flavourful and I also enjoyed the seafood fried rice. The food is a little pricey but overall, it was a really fun experience.
Went here for a late dinner with my friends. Ordered a Bibimbap which was excellent. I really like the ambiance too. Nice and cozy. Would definitely come back to try other Korean food!
Chosun was one of those restaurants that I always walked by but never tried. My cousin and I were both craving bibimbap and she said their kbbq is quite good so we decided to go here. Parking was a little tricky and it got quite busy at the restaurant, but we were still seated promptly. Something I also noticed was that the food comes REALLY fast – which was a good thing because I was starved.
probably not the best Korean restaurant, but i keep coming back here for my fix (everytime i venture out this part of town)
love their lunch specials
cold buckwheat noodle with bbq meat being my favourite
real korean bbq for dinner was expensive but great
relatively good service for Korean restaurant standard
I love Korean food. I wanted to have Korean food so much I begged my husband to take me to eat Korean food. The food here were pretty good. I ordered a bit too much but I couldn't help it. I ordered seafood pancake, corquette, pork bone soup and beef sashimi. They were all so yummy.
We decided to go Chosun for Friday Lunch. Chosun is specialized in Korean cuisine located on Kingsway nearby our office. Our colleague strongly recommend us to go together for lunch. This was my first visit and I was so looking forward to have a Bibimbap under a chill windy day of October. The lunch combo specials was a great deal. Other than Korean dishes and Korean BBQ, sushi and Japanese food were on the lunch combo menu too. We ordered the lunch combo; came with the complimentary banchans and salad.
Perfect place for warming up. Stepping in here is a sensory experience. The smell of meat grilling and korean spices fill the air; sounds of sizzling and bubbling of things cooking at the table..
I love the homey soups -- silky tofu, chewy rice cakes mmm... ; the hot stone bowl dishes, scraping the just-burnt crispy rice bits from the sides; the variety of small Korean appetizer dishes that come with the meal...
Everything is warm and cozy here. Great for a rainy day.
Quick mini-review! Chosun is one of my go-to spots for Korean food. Their KBBQ is good, they have decent prices, and you can't really go wrong with their other food either. We went for lunch and made it just in time to order their lunch combo specials. And this is how it works. You can choose one of the specified noodles, for example bibim naengmyeon, and you also get to choose one of the free mini dishes. I ate a "yukhoe bibim naengmyeon" which is just the regular bibim naengmyeon with the add-on of raw beef. It was the first time I tried this dish here and was really really yummy in my tummy. The noodles were extremely bouncy! Mmmnonmnom. I found the spicy level to be perfect too. Just enough chilli to have a kick but also a little bit sweet and savoury with sesame oil. For the free dish, I picked the BBQ juicy short rib. It's definitely a good deal for lunch. The pickled veggies on the side were a nice touch too.
Quite enjoyed out experience here. We had the Bibimbap, which was good, but a little dry for my liking. I guess that was why they had soup on the side, which made the rice a little bit more moist. The Unagi, which was alright as well. Lastly, we tried the Seafood friend noodle, which was very tasty. I also enjoyed the sides dishes, which the potatoes stood out for me. The service was mediocre. I would try out the bbq next time, as the table next to us made it look very tasty.
Went to this restaurant on a weekend evening, very busy long line ups, I had to wait one hour to get a seat, I ordered beef bulgogi, la galbi, unagi don, deep fried sweet and sour chicken, and we got six free small size appetizer, the food was good and I recommend this restaurant to anyone that loves Korean food.
My favorite Korean restaurant! Although, it can be a hassle to cook the meats yourself, it's definitely worth it. The meat is high quality and delicious. I love the side dishes and dumplings
I love this place! The waitress is always so nice and welcoming and the food is really good too.
The bibimbap and seafood tofu soup are excellent. Seafood pancake is a little too oily for me, but everything else is done well. Jjajangmyeon has the perfect chewy texture, and has a sweetness that compliments the salt well.
Definitely would recommend, as they can seat a lot and the booths make dinners comfortable.
I like this place a lot! I find the food taste really good and fresh. I recommend the meat platter combos if you want a bit of everything to try (I usually get Combo A which comes w beef slices, beef ribs, chicken, pork belly). They only take reservations for a party of 6 and up, anything else is first come first served.
Kimchi Pancake. Best I've had this side of the Pacific
Great place for some authentic Korean BBQ :-)
Lets start off with... cho sun is always packed. It is very hard to get the servers attention, especially if you sit in the corners of the restaurant. I had a family gathering dinner there and found a little twig like thing in one of our stone bibimbaps but the manager (I assumed) apologized and cancelled it off of our bill. If it wasn't always so busy, I'm sure it would be a better experience
YUMMY!. This is the first korean restaurant I've been to. And I don't regret coming here. Cho Sun's service was very polite and nice. The barbecue quality was very good.
Delicious. Loved the food, very good but after I was reeling from the MSG. I would go back but could not eat too much. I would eat more if they would go easy on the MSG.
Good. The meats were delicious and the portions were good as well. Aside from the BBQ we ordered the seafood pancake, it was really delicious and flavourful. The only complain I have about this place is the service, we got the uncooked meat before the rice and the side dishes. When I eat I want to have the appetizers first and I guess they're a bit slow when it's really busy.
Cho Sun specializes in grilled marinated short rib, aka galbi. Despite this, I ordered the yukgaejang, or spicy shredded beef soup, which at normal spicyness had enough of a kick but was not overwhelming. My dining companions ordered naengmyeon, one in broth and the other mixed with spicy sauce. Fortunately, they ordered the lunch special version, which came with a side of galbi. I am happy to report that all our dishes, including the banchan, were delicious. Add in a comfy decor, efficient service and clean restrooms, and you have a great option for Korean food.
Delicious. Food is delicious, the lunch special's comes with soup which are still boiling when they arrive at the table, service ok, prices higher than average, looking forward to next visit
Yesterday my dad and I were driving around Kingsway debating where to eat dinner! My dad suggested Sui Sha Ya! SERIOUSLY dad?!! Of all places?! I told him that they had already closed down, but he didn't believe me LOL. If he wanted AYCE Sushi we should go to Kingsway Sushi instead. We did park in front of Kingsway sushi, but we changed our minds so we kept on driving! I wanted to go to Lucky Noodle for Hunan but my dad wasn't in the mood for chinese, so he suggested Cho Sun instead! There were so many people when we got there! We even bumped into one of my dad's students there LOL what a small world eh? We ended up having to wait 20 mins for a seat because we didn't have a reservation. By the time we left there was already a huge lineup congregating outside, goes to show how popular this place is! Hey, can you blame them? Who doesn't like Korean BBQ?! :D Signature Dishes Cho Sun specializes in Korean BBQ! If you're not in the mood for BBQ they have a wide selection of korean
i have a newfound LOVE for korean food. i recently learned to eat spicier foods and korean meshes my two favourite things (usually) being spicy and healthy(ier) going back to the summer time, i asked my friend what her favourite korean place was as a starting point and she suggested cho sun so with a group of my friends, we decided to try it, one of my best friends hates the smell of korean barbecue so we opted for food that did not require any grilling and i ended up ordering bibimbap to share with my friend and a seafood pancake to share with 2 friends. bibimbap (~$9.99): rice, eggs, veggies and minced beef on a bed of rice served in a stone bowl - this was okay. a bit tasteless without the spicy sauce (which my friend could not handle) and therefore was bland for her. i actually love bibimbap because of all the veggies and generally healthy meal. seafood pancake (~$15.99): pancake made with assorted seafood and vegetables - this was very oily and was lacking in seafood. the portio
We stopped in Cho Sun Korean Restaurant on Kingsway for lunch. I’d driven past this place more times that I care to count, but I had never tried it. It’s a pretty wide menu. With started with juicy beef short rib with stew and rice This was boneless marinated beef short rib, grilled and served on a sizzling hot iron plate with sliced onions. This stew is called doenjang jjigae. This is a traditional stew made from soybean paste, mushrooms, vegetables, prawns, squid, and medium firm tofu, served in a hot iron bowl. It had a slightly spicy kick to it. There was a lot of flavor in the broth, quite a bit of garlic, and lots of tofu, and vegetables. It was pretty good. And as with most Korean meals, we were given a variety of side dishes This included marinated seaweed, kimchi, stewed potatoes, and a small green salad with a tangy dressing. I’m not a fan of kimchi, nor the seaweed, so I can’t say too much about those. The salad was pretty good though, it was crisp and the d
Cho Sun is a Korean restaurant that I have frequented often since high school. Two of my favorite dishes here are the jampong (spicy seafood noodles) and bibim naengmyeon (spicy cold noodles). The former comprises of Korean ramen type of noodles while the later consists of thin noodles made from buckwheat (most commonly). During this visit, I finally satisfied my craving for bibim naengmeyon. The Spicy Cold Noodles comes with a couple slices of radish and cucumber, a slice of meat and half a boiled egg. I like that the noodles have a nice bite to them despite being very thin while the sauce is sweet and spicy. I really enjoy this dish because it's refreshing, especially on a hot day. My boyfriend opted for Barbeque Sliced Beef or bulgogi. I think this dish was pretty up to par, flavorful and not too dry. If only one order of barbeque is made, the dish is made in the kitchen, rather than cooked by yourself on the grill. Of course, we can't forget about the banchan, which was your sta
Considering how many times that I drive by Cho Sun BBQ Korean Restaurant, you’d think that I’d come here more often.
Like most Korean restaurants, they bring out an assortment of Banchan to the table and I found that these dishes were pretty good.
Needed a break from studying. Ordered the Japchae to share from Cho Sun...
even they are super busy, their service is not too bad. For some reason, it is hard to find good services in Korean restaurant in Vancouver but Chosun BBQ does ok.
My brother and Marv decided to share a combination of meat. Despite the price and pictures, there wasn't a lot of meat! I think my brother just misses cooking meat on a grill now that Shabusen closed down on Granville :)
1 week of spring break is already long gone. gone were the days that i get to take semesters off and bum around. condensing 4 months of workload into 1 month scares me a hell lot but i accept that i'm taking summer school . all along, i thought i will be
While there are times where I just don't want to cook at home, there is a compromise I will gladly take on - grilling at a Korean BBQ restaurant! ...The menu is pretty expansive - from lunch special posted on the walls, to cooked dishes, BBQ items, hot pots, and sushi/sashimi. We stuck with a few BBQ items and added an appetizer too.
We were there at noon but the place was freezing cold like there is no heating at all. They have these portable heaters placed all over the restaurant which I thought that it was kind of dangerous leaving it standing on the walkway. I was just thinking …
