After a morning coffee at 49th Parallel Coffee, I did some errands along Main street and got distracted by this modern looking pizza place called Ignite Pizzeria. From the outside I can see the large wood fired pizza oven and a simplified menu on the sandwich board outside the shop. Inside was spacious with lots of seating including a big row of window seats.
On this day I attended the grand opening of “Ignite Pizzeria”, the newest stop for flatbread pizza in the Mount Pleasant area. Not only myself and other media/influencers were invited, but “Ignite” cleverly hosted the entire neighbourhood for one evening. They invited everyone in for a complimentary slice or two, and some drinks. I thought it a great way to garner some attention, getting would be lunch and dinner goers, who frequent and work in the area down to see what they are all about. After all, with one bite you’ll be hooked. It was all in the dough. And as a lover of carbs and bread, you know when I say I could eat a basket of their pizza crust, I mean it. The dough was just that good. It tasted a tad like sourdough (which I love). Especially when enjoyed with splashes of olive oil available in either rosemary or chilli pepper flavoured, for self service use on each table. The former was my favourite and the more popular of the two.
Last summer, Ignite Pizzeria became a new neighbourhood pizzeria in the Mount Pleasant area. They specialize in stone-baked artisinal pizza sold by the pie or by slice which uses a low-sodium dough that takes three days to craft and rest, making their pizzas light and easy to digest. Pizza Garden is usually my family’s go-to place for pizza in Mount Pleasant so we were very interested to see how Ignite Pizzeria compared.
