I work at a lab at UBC and a couple of my coworkers would often go to this Irish Pub, which is located on Broadway near Alma, for beers. Being a non-drinker, I've never been particularly interested in checking this place out until I learned that they apparently also carry a rather extensive menu filled with classic comfort/pub food that one of my coworkers claimed was delicious. I decided to finally check this place out during lunch time, when it was still relatively empty. I ordered a 1/2 Order of their Beer Battered Cod and Chips and Homestyle Meatloaf. Both of the dishes were delicious and pretty reasonably priced. Service-wise, the waitress I had was relatively friendly but a bit slow; I can't really blame her though since she was the only person present and there were several tables that she had to manage. All in all, while I can't say anything about their drinks, the food here is tasty and definitely worth visiting for alone.
Beer Battered Cod and Chips, 1/2 Order ($11):
4/5
This came served with a side of tartare sauce. The batter on the fish (which is pacific cod) is wonderfully crispy. The quality of the fish was not the greatest - I did find the texture to be a tad mushy, but not fishy. I really enjoyed the fries, which were again wonderfully crispy while having a somewhat starchy interior. The tartar sauce was wonderfully thick and tangy.
Homestyle Meatloaf ($19):
4/5
This came served with mashed potatoes and vegetables. The meatloaf was tender and well-seasoned, and had a nice sweet glaze. The potatoes were well-seasoned and quite smooth and creamy. The vegetables, which consisted of zucchini and carrots, were simple and nothing to write home about, but well-cooked and not overly bland.

Recommendations: Beer Battered Cod and Chips, Homestyle Meatloaf
Nice relaxed atmosphere with some good food. The service was very good and I enjoyed my shepherds pie. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a decent Irish pub with good food and good beer selection.
Nice Pub. Enjoyed the Shepherds Pie and a pint of ale, good service and nice atmosphere. Definitely will come back!
The Chicken Cajun abdthe classin beef sandwiches were tasty, and the stmosphere was cozy and warm :) Definitly will come back!
With about a dozen brews on tap, most of them from B.C., this is good pub for beer lovers. The food is pretty good, too.
Sports Bar?. Why does every Irish pub in town have to become a sports bar? What happened to a little good cheer with your friends and not having to have screens blaring at your face from every angle? Sure if it's the playoffs have 'em on, otherwise, how about some atmosphere? That being said, food and drink are great. Guiness is a good pour. They don't make their female servers dress like jail-bait (*cough cough Mahoney's cough cough*) Get your burger with blue cheese!
More choices for vegetarians please! Beer is very good; try the Storm ales for a treat
Best pint in town and rugby on the tube...
Cozy spot. Had some fish and chips and guiness on draft. i'd go there again.
