Ganache Patisserie is one of Yaletown’s longstanding businesses specializing in French pastries and desserts. It was opened in 2003 by pastry chef, Peter Fong, who was inspired to open a pâtisserie after visiting France. The key ingredient in Ganache’s menu is chocolate and more specifically, Cacao Barry chocolate from France.
For any sweet tooth, this place is heaven!
The presentation and flavors offered are exquisite. Every cake is a feast to the eyes.
Ganache Patisserie is a solid choice both for cakes and for pastries with reasonable prices to boot.
I have been here before. I came back here for desserts. I ordered a 3" chocolate cake (sorry I forgot the French name or whatever that was). It had many layers of chocolates and the texture of each layer was different. It was a master piece!
They have increased the prices overall. But their quality still remains the same which is great!
Some customers come here for desserts eating in. Some ordered a 6" or 8" cake. It was $50 each. Cakes here are of course more high end than other bakeries or pastry shops.
This is a nice little shop that I would like to visit once in a while.
We heard good things about Ganache and we love dessert so we had to try. We ordered the matcha cake with sesame, and the chocolate cake with passionfruit. Unfortunately the cakes looked better than they tasted. Between the two we liked the matcha cake better. Prices here are on the higher end, but that was to be expected. Service was really good, but we left disappointed most like due to high expectations. We won't be back.
pre ordered a chocolat banane the whole cake and for someone's birthday, definitely it tasteed pretty good, even though i'm not a big fan of desert or anything sweet, this one is definitely alright, the texture of each layer is different but at the same time it complements the other layers. the smoothness, and sweetness is just right for me. and will definitely try other flavours the next time i drop by.
Ganache offers decadent chocolates and cakes, which have always been impressive.
A stroll around Yaletown this weekend beckoned another visit. As usual, they seemed slightly understaffed but the pastry case was still well-stocked with intricately-designed cakes and viennoiserie. I tried the Croissant au Fromage and the Kouign Amann. The croissant was delicious - it was light and the cheese flavour was sharp without being overly-salty. The Kouign Amann, however, was a disappointment. The pastry was denser and drier than it should be. While the base was caramelized and glossy, it had a rather pronounced bitter flavour. I also noticed that the tops of the butter croissants appeared dark and slightly burnt.
Ganache's chocolates and desserts are likely wiser choices than the viennoiserie.
Why do I love this place?
1. The choices you have as a consumer.
2. How can anyone not drool over cake
3. Not many places downtown have a cake place, this extravagant.
This is a great place to get a celebration cake, especially a last minute one. Of course it's always better to call in advance and pre order. When you step into the store it's lovely. A great display of desserts and your greeted instantly, we'll atleast for me. The reviews are a hit and miss from what I read. I just wanted to share my experience which was positive. Others may not be as fortunate like myself. I got a half dozen cakes to try out and one bday cake. They taste very good. Friendly service, and yes, I would return.
My favourite patisserie in town and they have different creative selections each season. Absolutely love the coco mango cake and I would not find a substitute yet. It's on the pricey side of dessert but it's worth it. Not too many sitting spots and I would suggest you can a coffee with he cake. Luv this spot!
Popular Yaletown Patisserie, the prices are quite high even for Yaletown but the quality definitely makes it worth the price. Service is polite and quick, but the interior is quite cheap looking (chairs from ikea?) compared to the expensive cakes...
Love thisss place. I recently made a trip down here for some bakery goods. I have to say their almond croissants are to die for. They are freshly baked out of the oven and the texture of the croissants is very flakey and buttery. It is definitely well worth the money! I love how the shop is very spacious in which there there are quite a few seats available for customers to sit and eat.
My favourite bakery in Vancouver. I've had lots of amazing baked goods but Ganache really "takes the cake" (sorry for the pun)!!! Their Chocolat Velouté cake was like dark chocolatey heaven on a spoon. Their cakes are all incredibly beautiful and well made -- definitely my favourite bakery in Vancouver. I would recommend to anyone, but of course you must be willing to pay those higher prices :)
Good services w white lady... Like their famous forte noire cake, it's so smooth and taste like black forest cake. but don't Like their green tea cake and cappuccino...they all tasteless to me.
Exquisite cakes and dessert!. Wow, the desserts here are just awesome! I only wish that it was opened a bit later because my girlfriends and I would love to come here after dining out at one of the fabulous restaurants in yaletown. Sadly, they're just opened until 5 on most days so that's a bummer. Great work ganache! :)
Always exquisite. Having sampled a few other fine patisseries in Vancouver (Thomas Haas, Thierry) I have to say that Ganache keeps me coming back. Even if some of the cakes are so-so in terms of pleasure gained, their taste combinations are always interesting and palate-tickling. The exquisite craftmanship that goes into each complex dessert is also amazing. Two absolute flavour standouts at the one enrobed in caramel that everyone talks about (it's pretty sweet, but never too sweet!) -- the raspberry gelee in the middle just kicks it up a notch, as well as the surprising hazelnut crunch. The apricot-pistache is also rave-worthy, and a slightly lighter option. The flavour profile and appearance is quirky and memorable. The only bad things: Ganache closes early, and they don't have washrooms available for customers!
Fantastic Cakes. The cakes are superb. Peter was very friendly and nice when we met him for a wedding cake consultation. We had a hard time deciding on flavours because they were all so good. We opted for the mango chocolat and the guava exotique (which doesn't seem to be offered all the time). While it was pricey, it was definitely worth it. Our wedding guests raved about the cake and many people asked us where we got our cake from. We have since tried other cakes here and have loved every single one! I would definitely recommend this place for cakes.
Good cakes. That's about it.. I've been to this place repeatedly and found that the cakes are the one star of this place - but what a star it is. The chocolate-banana, chocolate caramel, and concorde praline (I am a fan of chocolate) are the three stars that I recommend to people. I haven't heard any friends be disappointed about any of them.
That said, the macarons and croissants were disappointing to me (and I would definitely go somewhere else). But if you're looking for a special cake, this is on my list. They're not cheap, but they're worth every cent.
Three cakes - all winners!. I ordered three cakes last night: Passion fruit chocolate, strawberry layered trifle cake, and red velvet. Wow! The passion fruit kinda split apart - but it was by the favourite of the group. I also really like the chocolate caramel cake. A six inch will put you back $30.00. Worth every penny. You know when everyone asks where you bought the cake that it's a winner!
Favorite. Love the matcha-exotique cake! It's beautiful and delicious :)
Special Cakes for Special Occasions. I've ordered cakes from here several times. They make beautiful cakes that are also delicious. I especially enjoy their Blanc Fraisier cake. It has a very delicate flavor and is not overly sweet.
Their cakes will add a special touch to any special occasion. Their service has also been excellent.
Desserts. Overall presentation of the desserts are excellent. However not all the desserts are exceptional. Macarons are not that great. but some of the dessert like the chocolat banana (if im not wrong), opera, passionfruit chocolate and the pistache citron is good. the rest is pretty much average. i find some of the desserts a little too sweet. Ganache loves to play with their flavors.
By far the best food I have ever put in my mouth. I am now a regular. Highly recomended.
Word around town is that Ganache has the BEST cakes in Vancouver! So, being that it was my birthday, I decided to hit up Ganache for my birthday cake!! Ganache is a quaint little French bakery tucked away in Yaletown. I went in at 5 pm without a preorder, so I was a little worried I wouldn't be able to get a cake. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that there were still a plethora of choices available! Their most popular cakes are the Chocolate Banane, Matcha-Exotique and Blanc Fraise. Unfortunately the chocolate banane contained walnuts (which I'm severely allergic to) and the other two were sold out of the large size. I instead opted for a reliable favourite: Red Velvet, the "Coco Velours Rouge." Concorde Praline and Coco Velours Rouge Ganache's interpretation is made with coconut cream cheese mousseline, chocolate ganache and vanilla chantilly. Mmm, sounds divine doesn't it? Keep reading for drool worthy pictures and a review of my cake macarons! Sitting area! Wedding Cake
For the most part, they were all enjoyable in their own rights. Ganache is very skilled with their layering and balance. The only cake that I've tried so far from them that I straight out did not enjoy is the "Pamplemousse Litchi et Rose" which I find absolutely too sweet.
My quest to seek out Vancouver’s best macarons have brought me to Yaletown’s “Ganache bakery”. A small shop specializing in French patisserie and polished wedding cakes. These works of art were visible from the front window, and a terrific choice to lead with. White icing smoothed to silky perfection on tower. Symmetrical levels and layers cascading with delicate flowers, lace detailing, spiralling patterns, and sparkling jewels. They looked more elegant than they did decadent. Walking up to the counter it is hard to miss the all chocolate statues of Asterix and Obelix, sitting on top. This was a true testament to the skill of the pastry chefs as artists. I can’t even fathom the time they must have taken. How labourous the process to mould something that melts, and craft it into a piece of art meant only to be eaten. And if you don’t believe their talent from just that, believe their awards won and their glowing magazine reviews displayed on the walls. To the right there was a bookshel
This is a quick one, just wanted to blog about the new cake at Ganache! You must go try!!! PAMPLEMOUSSE LITCHI ET ROSE Grapefruit parfait and rosewood water lychee cream. Yum yum. I love lychee myself and this combination of grapefruit and lychee is sooo yummy!! Go try it out! And if you have never been to Ganache, you need to try out their chocolate cakes. All of their cakes very yummy and you won’t regret it, I promise. Though there is limited seats in the shop and they don’t open very long so double check their hours. But I always love to get cakes from them for take out to eat at parks and etc. If you are into dark chocolate, I recommend Chocolat Veloute (in dome shape) – 70% dark chocolate mousse. OMG it is so yummy.
The desserts continued with Ganache Yaletown and its tasting plate of Blanc Fraisier Cake, Chocolat Veloute Cake, Coffee Macaron, Vanilla Vachterin, and Raspberry and Mango Pâte de Fruit.
My favourites were the first three listed. The Blan Fraisier had a much-appreciated fruitiness that cut through the sweetness. The Chocolat Veloute – omg… I had no idea that a cake could be so smooth! Also, the coffee macaron was just really well done.
I’m already a fan of the cakes from Ganache Pattiserie but after hearing so much about their Almond Croissants I finally got a chance to try them ^^
As our regular readers have noticed by now, we like going to bakeries, a lot. We like going to French bakeries even more. We had been meaning to visit Ganache Pâtisserie for a long time. We even made it there one evening, after
it was my virgin try having the chocolat-banane cake from ganache patisserie during the easter weekend and i must say it’s really awesome ! the bottom layer is really crispy and the chocolate actually melts in your mouth. if you order in advance, the bake
Ganache is one of my favorite pastry shops in Vancouver and will always have a special place in my heart.
The outsides were crisp, almost eggshell thin, with a very sweet, chewy texture on the inside. The pastry cream was only noticeable in the strawberry one as it had a vanilla cream sandwiched between the two cookies.
I have been hearing so much about Ganache Patisserie over the past few months, and thus kept having a craving to try it out. I took a look at their website online and noticed that beyond their regular desserts, cakes and pastries, they also make fresh cro
Dessert places are what I often search for, and this one came with high recommendations. I gotta say, this place is amazing, their desserts looked delicious with very nice presentation. Their selection is pretty good as well, so it make the selection proc
This is my favorite pastry shop in town. I found ganache patisserie accidentally when I was web-surfing on Google. When I first got there, I was thrilled coz nothing can make me smile wider than seeing those mouth-watering Parisian desserts =) So last wee
The first place Jenkins and I went to was Ganache Patisserie in Yaletown. I first experienced Ganache last year when some friends took me there for some birthday cake. I was quite impressed with the variety and quality of dessert there so it was definitel
When I was writing my “Where to Eat?” posts for Vancouver 2010, one of my suggestions was Ganache Patisserie for pastries. While I trusted Elaine’s opinion, I must also now add I have been there myself a couple of times.
