Was wanting Chinese and after a quick Google search this was the closest to where we were staying and had decent reviews (On Yelp which is more popular in the US and Canada than Zomato).  From the outside it looks like a dingy Chinese takeaway, however not to judge a book by its cover we decided to give it a go. The menu was big with pages and pages of dishes to choose from. We stumbled across the Group Combo page and decided to order from there, we chose: Traditional Wonton in Soup, Sauteed Green Bean with Minced Pork in Spicy Bean Sauce, Sauteed Bean Vermicelli and Beef with Satay Sauce served in a casserole, Pork chop with onion in tomato sauce(?). I didn't have high expectations for $42.50 both quality and quantity wise however I can conclude that our expectations were exceeded. The Wonton in Soup came with 10 wontons that were huge and tasted very authentic (HK style). The green bean with minced pork was very tasty and the serving on the beef with satay sauce and pork chop with onion was huge (the casserole in the satay beef was literally overfilling). This was more than enough to fill four hungry adults and it even came with Chinese mochis as dessert. I think this place is worth a visit if you're wanting a cheap but filling feed. Service was decent.

(Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures because I didn't have expectations beforehand. Next time...)

Writing this post is a bit unnerving because I have to admit the undeniable truth – I really like Hon’s Wun Tun House.  It is what it is: fast Chinese food which is cheap and cheerful (at least to me).  Growing up in Richmond in the 90’s, the Hon’s in Richmond was my family’s go-to Chinese food restaurant.  There weren’t as many Chinese options back then and most were serving Cantonese style fast-food.  Fast forward to 2016 and the Hon’s in Richmond has since closed down.  Numerous Chinese restaurants have opened since then and Vancouverites’ taste for Chinese food has become more refined due to the sheer number of options.  Hon’s is unlikely to be the go-to Chinese restaurant.  Now as a West End resident, however, I still head to the Hon’s on Robson once in a while for my Cantonese-style fast-food fix.
