After our delicious meal after Peaked Pies, we decided we wanted desserts so we walked northbound to a dessert restaurant called True Confections. This dessert restaurant is known to create the largest selections of “made from scratch” desserts in Canada, This restaurant was founded in 1986 as the first desserts restaurant in Vancouver, BC. This restaurant ironically is the same age as me as I was born in the year of 1986.
As we walked in, there was a large variety of cakes that was displayed and both my significant other and myself were eyeing on their red velvet cake. As we were greeted and sat down by the host / server we had a couple of minutes to look over their menu and our host / server approached us and we decided to order a slice of red velvet cake to share. First bite on the cake, the cake was moist and I love the cream cheese frosting it was very delicious.
Overall, I rate this dessert restaurant a 5 stars out of 5 stars. This restaurant have been around for about 33 years in Vancouver, BC. They are deemed to have a largest freshest desserts in Vancouver, BC for quite sometime. I definitely support a local restaurateur in the long run, as I appreciate local businesses bringing good food to our city.

I must begin by saying I have never had my dessert packed to go before!
Amazingly decadent cakes, so so so tasty, I’m still dreaming of it. Huge slices and very warm staff. Told the person behind the counter, in conversation, that it was my friend’s birthday and he added a little candle to her pie. What a sweet gesture!
Their multi layered chocolate cake is to kill for! Indulgence in chocolate. A slim slice looks small but the creamy mousse and dark chocolate cake is hard to finish on your own!
Location: I’ve been to Broadway and also the downtown one in Vancouver. Both are located in excellent places.
Ambience: Servers are very welcoming
Food: Well, the place is known for its cakes. I believe they have awesome cheesecakes but other cakes are okay-ish.
Well well, they have a special dark Belgian choc hot choc with marshmallows on top, amazing ; a must must try!
Price: slightly on higher side but cake slices are huge
*go when u really crave for choc
To die for cheesecake and hot chocolate very splendid desert. A great place to indulge and celebrate after any type of reward or accomplishment
Craving for something sweet, or need a date night idea? This dainty café is just a few blocks away from English Bay .. honestly, the only bad thing I can say is that they need more locations! It's worth the trip for the abundant yummy cakes and desserts they have. My personal favorite (and a must-try) would be the Devil's Food cake! Layers of moist chocolate cake and smooth, silky chocolate mousse enrobed in marshmallow frosting .. it's pure temptation in a slice. It's soo good that I have to always order another one to go! Grab a london fog or vanilla latte and you will be in heaven. Their cheesecakes are quite creamy, and there are tons of variations and toppings that you can have!
The lady who served us was really sweet. The service was quick and the food was tasty. I had the diplomat and I definitely recommend it. It's a little on the pricy side but the overall experience was great and I would for sure come here again.
Is anyone else surprised that this appears to be the only dedicated dessert place around downtown that's opened passed 8pm on a weekend? That fact doesn't take anything away from the cakes, cheesecakes and trifles. Reasonable prices at $7-10 each.
A friend and I walked in 20 minutes before closing time. We managed to rangle a table with the promise that we'd be done in 20 minutes.
I ordered pecan pie and my friend ordered raspberry and white chocolate cheese cake. My pie was delicious, I chose to eat it cold and every bite warm great! I tried one bite of the cheese cake...damn my lactose intolerance. I didn't have my pills so chose not to keep going. It was good though.
I usually like dinner with my dessert but regardless I'll come back sometime in the future.
Hazelnut dark chocolate mousse is to die for! Light and fluffy. Mmm. Flourless cakes melt easily in the mouth and so does chocolate mousse. I decided to make my own flourless cake and chocolate mousse, Taste pretty good too. I guess any chocolate mousse paired with flourless cake done right is tasty. I've been to True Confections three times and had the Hazelnut dark chocolate mousse twice and the Napoleon. The Napoleon isn't very good.
Mouth watering feast for the eyes as soon as you walk in. Very cool relaxed vibe, I suggest checking this place out with someone you want to share with. Often busy, somewhat crowded but an intimate feeling once seated. Enjoy an assortment of beverages and as far as dessert choices...let your taste buds guide you. Always serving delicious favourites and seasonal treats. Anything chocolate...you won't be disappointed. An autumn staple, got to have the pumpkin pie cream cheese. Friendly service and you never wait long for your very own slice. @TrueConfexions Enjoy!
I love chocolate cakes! There are so many good cake places in Vancouver. This time my friend and I went to True Confections on Denman Street in Downtown. I love how thick and heavy their chocolate cakes are. Why can't bakeries in Hong Kong make moist heavy chocolate cakes? It seems I can only find those light chiffon chocolate cake in Hong Kong and those are not good. Not very chocolatie.
Amazing desert, great service, tasty drinks, reasonable prices. Highly recommend it!
a place that is open late, and serves a good size of a cake slice that is DANgERously good, my only negative thing to say about this place is it's lacking in charm for ambiance, and they are stingy with their drinks..
True confections was great for a sugar hit. My only qualm was the grumpy lady who ran the place. She was pushy and acted like everything was an inconvenience. Otherwise our chocolate cake was nice - though not the best I've ever had per se.
This is a lovely spot. Fabulous selection of desserts and the service is fantastic. I was surprised to read the reviews on USpoon saying they had bad service...I've been to this restaurant many times before on different occasions with different servers and it's always been fantastic.
Nice dessert. We ordered a slice of cake to go. it is the strawberry shortcake ? Sorry i dont remember. It tastes very good ! We will go back and try some other flavor for sure!
Cakes are delicious and worth the commute from surrey!
Uncomfortable chairs. But great cake
One word: chocolate-peanut butter cheesecake. Nuff said
Great cakes, prime location!. Perfect place to stop by for a dessert and then walk it off at stanley park! Wide selection of cakes, you just want to try all of them. Loved the black savannah cream cake, which I chose since it seemed "lighter" than the rest, but was surprisingly quite filling. My friend had the pecan pie, which was also great. Would definitely return!
Such good cakes. A relative of mine introduced me to this place just off Robson. The wait is a little long but it is well worth it. The cake here is fantastic and they make great coffee. I try to check it out anytime I am in the West End when visiting Vancouver.
Yum! Yum! Second visit in as many years, only because I currently live in Ontario. It has become my birthday tradition! Unfortunately I don't remember the name of the cake or specialty coffee I had. Both were featured items, something like a triple chocolate mousse cake and chocolate Bailey's kiss coffee...I was in heaven!
Good cakes, but prepare to wait.. I tend to come here with friends, and this is a popular late-night place. There's usually people waiting, and the wait is usually around a half-hour.
Once you're in, most of the cakes are pretty good. One thing to note - you might get what looks like a thin slice, but they are filling. The cakes aren't too cheap either (though pound-for-pound cheaper than most of the fancier patisseries), but either way you'll have a good cake.
I got the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake. It was ok. The service can be improved but overall I would give it a 2nd chance to prove it's worth paying so much for.
Great relaxing place for a light snack. Cheese cake is good, expresso is good, great outdoor seating, service ok
Love it but maybe too much?. I love their cakes. But 9 bucks for a piece of cake is just too muck. :( And I find each slice toooooo big. If they cut slices smaller and charge somewhere between 5-7 bucks it would be better. Maybe that's just me. Maybe other people don't mind eating such a large piece of cake after a meal.
This place is just WRONG. The cakes and desserts here are terrific, but don't come here looking for a bargain. The prices are painful, but the place is worth coming to on special occasions or just for that great date night out. Wicked desserts and great dessert drinks, and awesome tropical tea too!
The place youmay actually commite carbcide
Somebody roll me down the hill!. Excellent cheesecake but now I'm a stuffed blimp. The menu could use a good overhaul though. The photos look like a 90s dot-matrix school work assignment and don't do justice to the selection in the display case.
Hands down, this is THE place to go if you're in the mood for cake. I went again last night and it was just as good as always. Classic chocolate cake with a glass of milk and you're in happy land. They also have a small but very good selection of teas and coffee as well. Expect to drop about $15 for a slice of cake and a coffee, but it's worth every penny. Give it a try!
Time for dessert and where better than sweet confections? True confections has a few locations in the Metro Vancouver area. True confections is a cafe that’s known for their cheesecakes to order by the slice for dine-in or take out. They also serve alcoholic espresso/tea drinks here but we didn’t end up trying any of them on this trip.
Confections, all their cakes are made from scratch with no stabilizers or chemicals and made daily. The Strawberry Cheesecake is the best one I have had for a long time.
Arguably the best cakes I've ever tried, True Confections is really in a class of it's own. Some say it's a bit rich, and I have to agree, but if you're into rich, this place is it. All you need is a sliver of cake, and you can enjoy it for ages. There ha
