My friend and I had a lunch at JJ’s Restaurant (VCC) once. We had an awesome experience there. JJ’s restaurant is a small restaurant inside Vancouver Community College (VCC). It owed by VCC for its students to practice cooking skills. The restaurant is only open a period of time during the day. Inside the restaurant is fancy design and the decoration is very simple. The table setting is of western style. People can see cooks who are making their food. The menu is very simple, includes Appetizers, Mains, and Desserts. All the food together are $24 person. It was a very great deal. Servers here were all students. They were very professional. We very enjoyed our lunch at JJ’s Restaurant.

Best kept secret!. I have been to JJ's both for weekday lunches and also the famous Friday night buffets and I do have to say for the price you are paying it truly is the best kept secret.

When walking into VCC you don't think much but once you enter JJ's restaurant I am very impressed how nice the restaurant is with great customer service (not perfect service but take into consideration they're students).

As soon as you walk in they always ask if you have any coats to hang up and from there they take you straight to your table.

I highly recommend going there Friday night if you have a big appetite because for the price you are paying and the quality you receive it is amazing! My advice is to book the Friday buffet in advance because can get very busy. Attached is a picture of the dessert served at the buffet. Great spread!

Wonderful experience. I tried the salmon, prawn and scallion cake with thai lemongrass sauce and the lamb cooked two ways, slow cooked leg of lamb and pan roasted loin rosemary jus.

my friend and I both agreed that the cake was a bit on the salty side but other than that it was pretty good, very creamy.

I really enjoyed eating the leg of lamb and the potato wrapped in phyllo pastry side it came with. the pan roasted loin unfortunately was really really dry.

I really like this restaurant. I think it's a great way for people to enjoy good food for a low price and help out students at the same time. Our server was very polite - forgetful, but polite. (he forgot to bring the bread) I'm definitely going to return again. I find it strange how they don't give guests the chance to fill out comment cards. after all this is suppose to be an learning experience.

Good value for your $$$. Great place to eat. Student chef and servers. Sometimes you need to have patience to eat here but the food quality is great. Worth your while! Friday night buffet is very good value. Reservation is high recommended.

I ordered the Moroccan Spiced Lamb Sirloin for the main dish. The lamb was served with a side of cous cous, cauliflowers, and a yogurt sauce. This was my first time trying out cous cous. I didn't really like the grainy and nutty taste of the cous cous. So this is probably my last time to getting it. On the other hand, the lamb was cooked to perfection. Ask for a medium rare and thats what I got. Taste was pretty mild in flavour without the overpowering taste of the lamb taking over as some places will.

One thing you should know about JJ’s Dining Room is that you’ll need a reservation for lunch, because the place fills up.

Ha Long Bay Despite their vibrant food posters plastered across the window, it would be months before I finally took notice of this modest vietnamese restaurant on W Pender before I finally took notice. Finally, as I embarked to Sushi 01 for some lunch, a distraction caused my companion and I to take a different direction. The food posters finally caught our eyes. It's been a long time since I had vietnamese food and my stomach was agreeing with my brain to go in. We took a quick look at the menu and immediately knew what we wanted to get; an order of 8 spring rolls and a vietnamese sub. The lemongrass sandwich made our first visit a great experience and memorable. Succulent grilled chicken, marinated with lemongrass and seasoning, rested along side of julienned cucumbers, carrots and cilantro. The french baguette was fresh and toasted. The sandwich tantalized my palette. I enjoyed every single bite of it and continued to fantasize about it from time to time afterwards. It was a done d

JJ’s Restaurant is located in the Vancouver Community College’s Downtown Campus. They are open for both lunch and dinner. The restaurant gives their culinary students real experience with dealing with paying customers. The students do rotations so they get to experience how the back and the front of the house works

I love schools. My early 20s saw many a haircut at the hairdressing school that used to be on Cambie St. It was cheap and there is a supervisor there, what can go wrong, right? I feel the same way about culinary school dining experiences. I had a great time at PICA so I was looking forward to trying the cafeteria at Vancouver Community College. A perfect opportunity appeared on Monday when Cool J, of Lez Reno fame, emailed with an open lunch date. Jax is always up for an adventure! On the way to the caf, we went past the formal dining lounge, JJ's Fine Dining and thought this sounded like a great idea. They run on the idea that the culinary students are the serving staff and the chefs. After confusing the first student by asking if we needed a reservation or if we could walk in and eat, another student decided we could and sat us. The best part of the restaurant- watching the chefs make your food on a giant TV in the dining room. That is not Hell's Kitchen, that is you food being made!
