This is a small, but clean and sleek restaurant located not far from Granville Island. They have a smaller lunch menu that is served from Wednesday to Friday, as well as a larger dinner menu. I had their Spanakopita and Moussaka off of their lunch menu. The dishes were quite good, and the prices were reasonable. I was quite impressed by their service: the food was prepared reasonably quickly and the staff I encountered were friendly and attentive. This is definitely a joint worth visiting.
Spanakopita ($10):
3.5/5
This consisted of a phyllo pastry filled with spinach and feta cheese, and served with a side of tzatziki. The phyllo was fantastic, and was hot, fresh and crispy. The filling was flavourful, although I did find the spinach to seem to have a slightly bitter aftertaste. I really enjoyed the tzatziki, which was thick and tangy, and contained a good amount of garlic.
Moussaka ($16):
3.5/5
This consisted of eggplant, zucchini, and ground meat, topped with bechamel, and came with rice, potatoes, and Greek salad. The moussaka itself was quite tasty, with the ground meat being tender and well-seasoned and the bechamel quite rich and creamy, with a nice sweet fragrance of nutmeg. Unfortunately, I did find the vegetables to again have a slightly bitter aftertaste. The sides were also quite good; the Greek salad was well dressed and had a good amount of feta while the rice was well-seasoned and fragrant.
Summary:
Food: 3.5/5
Price: 4/5
Service: 4/5
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Spanakopita, Moussaka
We have been here a few times and find this to be the best Greek food in Vancouver, we really recommended the roast lamb! Don’t get delivery food may come cold so we alway pick it up or eat in!
Apollonia Greek Restaurant is a small Greek restaurant located just on the outskirts of Granville Island. Given the building renovations they were doing when we visited at the end of July, it was rather nondescript from the outside which probably explains why it wasn’t super busy. The interior seemed rather clean and avoided the overuse of white and blue colours which many other Greek restaurants in the city use.
One of our best Greek restaurants in the city. It's this place or Kalamata on Broadway. Glad my office moved nearer to this place. Only knock is that Kalamata has better rice.

Expensive, but quality Greek food. I've been there twice. Ordered the Apollonia Pizza the first time and a Rack of Lamb the second time. Oh my, what pleasures this food gives you. Not only have I ordered these foods, but I've had little bites of my friends' foods, and those were amazing too (referring to Chicken Souvlaki and other types of pizza). Honestly, the best part of the whole meal were the appetizers. Calamari, tzatziki with pita and everything in between are perfect ways to start your meal. Just don't have too much, or else you'll be full before the main course.
Great Food, nice ambiance, great service!. Out of all the Greek restaurants I've been to in Vancouver this one is my favourite!
Killer lemon potatoes (which I am very particular of). Great calamari, saganaki and the lamb souvlaki was tender and juicy.
All in all a great experience, will definitely be going back!!
Very good food. I will return for sure. Hope they can keep it up.
First time. Great food and very affordable! We had lamb and it was delish - will be returning!
One of my faves. Consistently good food. Even the delivery food is great.
Classic Greek. We frequent the Apollonia because the owners are friendly, the food is consistently good and the prices are very good for the amount of food you get. Simple formula!
Good souvlaki portion, probably the best "Greek style" pizza in kitsilano
Delicious! Calimari was soft and tender, chicken souvlaki was moist and nicely grilled, salmon was tasty. I will be back!

Fantastic. I took my family here 6 years ago and it was so good I always talked going back. I don't live in Vancouver, but had a chance to go back this weekend and it was just as good as I remember. Great service, great wine choices and the lamb! Oh, the lamb!!! Tender and juicy. Every single bite was as delicious as the first. We had the Nikos platter and hummous and we could not finish it all though we tried our best. The pita was toasty outside and soft inside; the potatoes were out of this world. Moussaka tender and flavorful, perfectly seasoned. Calamari crispy and not greasy. The only recommendation I have to the chef is to season the rice up a bit more- it gets lost ammongst all the other wonderful flavors.
Very capable. Don't know about all the dishes...but if you seek a very tasty and pleasant souvlaki experience..Apollonia won't disappoint. Their pizzas are pretty good as well.
Friendly staff, great food & unbeatable prices. if you like Greek food, you must experience apollonia
I was thinking we hadn't had Greek food for awhile, so I looked up places that were nearby and came up with Apollonia. Someone had actually pinned their take out menus to the billboard in the mailroom of my building, so it seemed rather fitting, haha. The restaurant is located in a rather unassuming area near Granville Island, hidden amidst the many interior decorating and design stores there. There's plenty of metred parking there and the street is nice and wide in front. I called ahead to make sure there would be a table for us, but when we arrived there were only 2 tables occupied and the restaurant mostly empty. We were greeted warmly and told to pick any seats we wanted, though there was a table "reserved" for us. We decided to take the reserved one because we liked the bench and could sit side by side :) I guess it's fairly slow since it's only midweek, not a weekend or something. The restaurant was well-lit which I liked, and because of the brightness the little table candles di
...main courses are great, except the Greek salad. The price is a bit over average. If you love Greek food and haven’t tried it yet, you can think about Apollonia.
This is a really weird area of town, the north-of-4th-Avenue area between Granville and Burrard. It's not Kitsilano per se, but it's also not really what most people would recognize as Fairview Slopes. But the number of hidden gems I found within this area in the course of attending the recent Standing Armed presentation of their Spring/Summer 2012 collection is unbelievably high. Apollonia Greek Restaurant is a little gem that produces some of the best Greek food this side of Takis Taverna, Stepho's and Bouzyos . It wasn't really my discovery, it was really Anabelle's . She had dinner there and I just landed for a quick appetizer (although Anabelle gave me her salad, I ordered an appetizer of Keftedes (Greek meatballs) that was really, really tasty and filling. The price point at Apollonia is pretty decent and it's not going to break your wallet. I'm sure I will get flack because the meat balls look a bit overcooked on the top. Personally, I like them like that. I'm glad Anabelle invi
