We were looking for something light to eat before hot yoga. I spotted Trilussa earlier on in the day so I suggested we give them a try. The smell of fresh pizza wafting out the door is enticing. Trilussa specializes in thin crust, Roman style pizza. Signs out front displaying their combos and daily specials.
Good food and feel like really local from Europe. Nice and friendly! Coffee is very local and special :) will go back again for sure. Didn’t see the pasta was on the menu otherwise I’ll order that too.
This is one of our favourite spots in the city. We have been multiple times and every time we are left very satisfied. Our favourite pizzas are the Vancouver (smoked salmon/cold pizza), and the bacon and garlic pizza (hot). A good thing about Trilussa is that you are able to decide on how much pizza you want to order. Service is great, and prices are fair. If you haven't been to Trilussa do yourself a favour and get down there (much better than Scuie)!
We came and ordered to go. We ordered a variety of pizza slices: the smoked salmon with fresh veggies, the pulled pork, pear and blue cheese, tomatoes and pepperoni and garlic flavour with meat. The crust is flat bread styles. Few pieces have very chewy crust so we didn't enjoy eating the crust but other pieces taste fine. I think it depends on how long the pizza has been sitting there. Overall I like the flavour and taste of the pizzas especially the smoked salmon and pulled pork. I'll come back when I'm in the mood for pizza.
To me, this is Vancouver's best pizza place. It is not one of those cheap junky places serving fast food pizzas; this is the real deal. The owner, Alessandro, is very friendly and his crew make delicious pizzas. The place is very comfortable and has a homestyle feel to it. My favorite is the sausage pizza. Definitely recommended for authentic pizza lovers!
Good pizza and panini and minestrone soup which although a touch salty it was still delicious. .
Always a good meal here. Friendly customer service from i believe the owner/chef. You can't go wrong with any of their pizza selections! All delicious and made fresh.
Went to this pizza place on a weekday lunch break, had a small slice of Capri pizza and a pop, the taste was very good, I would recommend this place to anyone in the neighborhood with a pizza craving.
The newly minted wife and I were looking for a place to stuff our faces while we were wandering around downtown Vancouver. After a couple of weeks of Chinese food (don’t get me wrong, it was delicious but you need some variety), we looking for something warm and filling of the European variety. Enter Trilussa Pizza and Pane. Now I love pizza almost as much as I love burgers (and I love me some burgers) and Trilussa is definitely the place to go to satisfy such cravings. The pizza is made fresh almost continuously in long meter long rectangles and you can order as much or as little of each type as you like. Don’t see an arrangement of pizza toppings you like? Just ask the pizza chef behind the counter to whip up something to your tastes and he’s more than happy to comply.
My favourite flat bread pizza place! Huge selection of differs pizzas to choose from. ( my fave is the brunch pizza with an egg in the middle). These pizzas are unlike the ones you usually get. Definitely a must try!
Our first stop was Trilussa Pizza and Pane. This place serves up authentic stone oven Roman pizzas by the slice. There are lots of daily flavours to choose from from their wooden counter. Once you pick out your pizzas, they’ll heat it up for you. You also have the option of picking out a flavour off their menu and have a whole pizza baked fresh.
I picked out the Vancouver pizza ($6.34) and the gorgonzola pear pizza ($5.91?). The crust was thin and crispy with a pleasant chewiness to it. The Vancouver is a cold pizza that’s topped with smoked salmon and organic green salad. You can definitely taste the quality of the ingredients. The smoked salmon was incredibly flavourful without being too salty. It was soft without any toughness or chewiness. I have this pet peeve with eating anything with smoked salmon in them, that is, I’m always afraid that when I take a bite, I’d pull the whole piece of lox out, you know what I mean? But that was not the case here, the salmon just came apart where it was supposed to. While this pizza was good, I was a little sad that it didn’t have any cheese. It’s more like a flat bread, it’s just not pizza without cheese. I also thought that the Vancouver could’ve been done with a little more sauce. I faintly remember something that tasted like a light dijon mayo that was scantily placed. The gorgonzola pear pizza was my favourite of the two. The gorgonzola cheese had such a pungent, buttery and nutty aroma. The sweetness of the pear complimented the flavours of the cheese impeccably. Unfortunately, by no fault of Trilussa's, I had made the mistake of eating the second half of my gorgonzola pear after my lox pizza. I thought it would be nice to end with something sweet, but I had underestimated how fast the pizza cooled off and how slow I eat. By the time I got to my second half, the cheese had congealed and the texture had become a little gritty.
While being on the pricier side, I think the quality of the pizza’s definitely worth it. KitKat, JuJube and I were all satisfied with our brunch and we were headed to our next destination. We literally had a full day of munching planned, but we decided to add in a shopping break in-between at 8th and Main as we needed a little time to walk off our food babies before we hook up with Beta 5’s ice cream social.

Of course I'm going to talk about the pizza! It is absolutely delicious and worth the price. If you have a few dollars to spare, skip out on your Pizza Huts and Dominos for some Italian goodness at Trilussa.
The Impossible Pizza. Normally when I get a slice, I hold the wedge from its widest end and point the narrow end towards my mouth. Easy. But the pizzas at Trilussa are cut from long rectangular pies, making each crispy-chewy "slice" a quadrilateral monstrosity. HOW IN HOLY HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHICH END GOES INTO MY MOUTH???? This Rubik's cube of a pizza is impossible to eat! A futiile exercise in frustration and advanced geometry!
Final word: if you can accept the four-cornered abomination, then yes, it is utterly delicious. Best in Vancouver.

Apparently Trilussa has changed hands. How is it? Well, we dropped by on Sunday and found it closed. But looking through the window we could see someone inside cooking, so we tried the door. It was open! I guess they were not officially open, and were actually prepping meatloaf and porchetta, but we were welcomed in anyways.
The new owners were friendly, talkative and, as it turned out, generous. We were offered free samples and, because my wife likes their bread, a loaf to take home. The pizzas are nearly the same as the old Trilussa, but it's hard to judge since we couldn't compare them side by side.
We left full and felt we'd been given the special treatment, which is rare these days. Give them a shot, they're changing the menu so it'll be interesting to see what Trilussa version 2.0 becomes!

We don't get to come out here often, so it's been a while since we've dropped in. Sadly, the pizza, while still tasty, seem a bit breadier and lack some of the crunch of the original... and no wonder, I spied a stack of pre-baked crusts to one side of the kitchen. I remember the original Trilussa stretching their pies just before baking.
Also lacking is the colourful variety of pies that used to sit proudly in the display, this time the toppings seem a tad reserved.
Lastly, they have a warming display of lasagnas, baked in disposable foil pans. While still tempting, they were sitting in a puddle of oil... hm.
What a find. We stopped in after shopping at Oakridge and checking Urbanspoon. The pizzas are really delicious - amazing actually. The Caprese and Vancouver pizzas were so much better than you would think from the descriptions and felt like a really nutritious and tasty meal. They are basically salad based but somehow taste rich and flavourful. The Abruzzo Pizza is fantastic. Their success lies in very fresh ingredients.
When in Rome. Reminds me of Rome! The pizza is delicious and authentic, nice bustling atmosphere....a great place for a quick lunch. Highly recommended.
Scrumptious, unique, flavourful - need I say more? :-)
Gone here at least 10 times over the past year!! Simply phenomenal. The coffee tasted really good too. Service is always friendly.
YUP! It's Great! Awesomeness!! This is tops in town. Fresh, authentic flavours, and lots of choices. My fave by far!
A must try.
DELICIOUSNESS!. Our first night staying near Main we walked over here around 9:00pm for a late dinner. We were charmed by the cozy, clean atmosphere and warm, welcoming owner and staff. The guy who owns it is from Italy and he knows his stuff. Friendly, knowledgable, and purveyor of the finest authentic Roma-style pizza we've ever eaten. The price was right for such high quality pizzas. Everything was fresh - the mozzarella must have come straight from the dairy farm. The crust was flavourful and just the right amount of crispy to chewy. The tomato sauce was light, aromatic and crisp. The toppings were authentic and fresh, and we enjoyed the salmon + arugala, proscuitto, and bacon the best! I definitely recommend this place. The owner even took the time to talk with us as we ate and recommend some nearby craft breweries and bars. Can't wait until we are in town again! We will definitely be stopping by.
Delicious!! Thats all i can say. Love the Vancouver. And also the Milano. Reasonable prices and just really tasty.
Amazing. Came here because the 97% they have on UrbanSpoon is quite possibly the highest rating I've seen on this site to date. The pizza is amazing! Crunchy thin crust, delicious cheese, nice and spicy. Very simple pizza, but everything is excellent. The prices are good and you can sample several kinds of pizza in one meal, as they have several different options for the size of your slice. Even if you order just a slice, they still make it fresh!
Consistently delicious. Great for a quick snack. The soup and pizza combo is excellent value. Pulled pork pizza is a hit with the kids, as is the nutella and strawberry. Always friendly, always tasty. Best pizza on Main St.
Excellent. I've been looking for a pizza place like this. The crust is perfect!
Best pizza I have had in Canada hands down. Excellent value as well
Jump'in Jupiter! Wow! Just stopped by for a quick bite and I'm hooked. Best in town for sure.
This is literally the best pizza I have had in the world. I've traveled all over and this is amazing.
Best Pizza in Vancouver. Been to enough pizzerias in Vancouver to say that Trilussa stands out and serves the best pizza in Vancouver. There's a certain satisfaction with every bite that I've not found elsewhere. The pizza at Trilussa is comparable to some of my best edible experiences in Italy and other parts of Europe where I've spent eating many memorable slices of pizzas. Like one reviewer below, it really helps that the owner is Italian. Hearing the Italian accent is like music to the ears.
And they selll gourmet pizza slices too!. So I'm eating a panino from Trilussa Pizza and Pane -- the Toscana, with grilled chicken -- and thinking "This is GOOD!" And I ask myself "Why is this better than a lot of the panini I've eaten in the real Italia?" Because I've had many that were sub-par, usually because I grabbed them in a hurry at a train station or when I was walking the streets late at night in some tourist town like Venezia when most of the restaurants were closed. Trilussa's panini come across nicely because the bread is fresh and soft without being spongey. The lettuce/tomato topping is fresh, but there's not so much of it that it overwhelms the other ingredients. But what really put it over the top was the sauce that they moistened the bread with, a flavourful oil-and-pesto concoction that added depth to the taste without sogging up the sandwich. They would approve of this panino in Roma.
I didn't realize Trilussa also sells pizza a taglio, in various sized pieces. It looks to be Italian-style, crust-driven pizza with simple toppings and not a ton of tomato sauce and cheese. If you want that, Fresh Slice is just a couple storefronts away. I've got a piece with a couple pieces of pancetta heating in the toaster oven right now (I'm at work.) I'd better get it out before it burns!
You can taste the love!!!!. Great food, commitment to quality, authentic and great service!!!! I have been here a dozen times and never have I had anything other than excellence!!! and I love the owner's accent!!! :P
Delicious and authentic. I moved to Main a year ago and was thrilled when this place opened up. The owner is unfailingly kind and passionate about his food. And you can taste it.
I've had several pizzas here (cut in those tasty square slices) and they are all authentic Roma quality--spicy olives, pesto and potato, mozzarella and ham. So many options. The bread and ingredients have that exotic, fresh from Italy taste. No short cuts. There is nothing like this place in Vancouver.
Enjoy!
Nice find along Main street while antique shopping. We wanted to try everything (pizza) but settled on 3 pizzas and than had a nutella and banana pizza, plus soup all very good food.
Best Italian in Vancouver. I went in and they were so friendly to begin with, I had a soup and sandwich combo and got some pizza to go and it was perhaps one of the most incredible things I've ever eaten. The staff are just about the nicest I've ever encountered in any cafe/restaurant, and the food was literally to die for. They had a nice selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options and a very nice and clean, welcoming environment.
Best pizza in Vancouver, no contest. As a carb addict, I have eaten pizza from domino's to new york city slices to home made to Naples to the finer Italian places in Vancouver and I can assure you that there is no greater crust than at this place. It's crispy and chewy and the pizzas are absolutely delicious here. This is what real Italian pizza tastes like.
Delicious!. Came here for lunch two days in a row and ordered the same thing. On our first visit, we shared a regular Vancouver Pizza and a Parma sandwich. The Vancouver Pizza was bursting with flavours - dressing, smoked salmon, greens, olive oil, etc. It combined for a very refreshing and savoury taste. The crust had a perfect texture - not too dry (crusty) nor was it too soft (bread-y). It was also nice and thin with a perfect amount of ingredients on top.
AMAZING. Pizza Hut, Panago, Dominos and even DELISSIO can NOT compare to the pizza at Trilussa Pizza and Pane. I recently discovered this as I was walking from work, searching for new foods to try and came across this place. As soon as I entered, I knew that I'd love this place. It's very homey gives off a welcoming aura, the portraits of Roma and the Pizza is absolutely gorgeous, and the simplicity of the booths are comforting. For those who want heavenly pizza for such an affordable price, then I suggest you go here. It is tantalizing and authentic to the eyes and tongue. Two thumbs up!!
Yum!. Had their salmon salad pizza, the owner made it right there on the spot. It took him two minutes and it was fantastic!! I only wanted to buy a small piece but ended up coming back for the entire piece. I was also intrigued by their strawberry nutella pizza, and there was a small piece left, and the owner just gave me one for free. It was great too.
I definitely want to come back for some of his other pizzas!
I am addicted! One if main streets best kept secrets... Amazing, authentic pizza i perspnally LOVE the ' Vancouver'. The owner is friendly, passionate about his food and a REAL Italian! Highly recommend!
Yay, good pizza!. Finally, good pizza in the Main street area! The Caprese was delicious, with creamy mozzarella and a delicious fresh salad atop. The pepperoni was quite greasy, although had a nice spicyness to counteract that. The minestrone was good, with lots of vegetables and beans, although it was a little one-noted and mostly just tasted of tomato. That bread that came alongside was quite dense and gluey. The pizza is absolutely delicious though, and I will try a dessert next time as they also look amazing!
Great Food, Great Service, and Great Big Smile!!! :>. This was my first time here, great food, great service, specially are their great big smile!!! Love this restaurant!
Great pizza!. I've been on the hunt for good pizza since moving to Vancouver. And this is the best. It's roman-syle square slices, fast and inexpensive, and sure to replace the ubiquitous cheap pizza-by-the-slice joints all over town. The chef is from Rome, and so proud of his pies and bread you'll be stuffed from the samples before you get your slice.
Beautiful, fresh ingredients on a lovely thin dough with a perfect chew. Always perfectly balanced, and not slopped in cheese or sauce. I've been at least 4 times in the short time it's been open, and he will have a few pizzas ready but has also said if he has an ingredient, he'll do whatever you want. He seems to always have a cheeseless option, usually packed with flavour (lots of red pepper and sea salt, or anchovies, and he doesn't skimp on the olive oil).
He also makes a good espresso, making it the perfect 10 min. lunch spot!
Loving "Vancouver". I personally don't like Pizza. They are often too greasy for me in general. But friends referred this new Pizzeria to me, and it is probably the best pizza I've tasted so far. It reminded me of Rome. Very authentic taste of Italy for sure.
I LOVE their "Vancouver Pizza". Fresh and tasty. Highly recommanded.
There are definitely a lot of great restaurants that could escape our eyes when driving along Main Street. One particular restaurant that is not very eye-catching from the outside is Trilussa Pizza and Pane . At first glance inside the restaurant, there is a home-like café vibe where you order up front and seat yourself. Their main specialty is serving freshly baked Italian flat bread pizza with a great selection of toppings, including many vegetarian options. Each of their pizzas comes in three sizes: 3” ($3.75), 5” ($5.91), and 7” ($8). Personally, I like to follow the greater norm and opt for the most popular item on the menu. In this case, it is the Vancouver Pizza which I ordered in the 7” size.
Are the rectangular pizzas here just as good as the classic round ones around the city? Read on to find out. Food: We got to try a medley of pizzas in the following flavours: m argarita, spicy pesto, tomato, potato, sausage, prosciutto, salami . Out of these flavours, I would say my favourite two were the potato and the spicy pesto. The potato wins because it was amazingly filling being full of carbs but it was mixed with enough herbs to still keep it tasty. The Spicy Pesto also wins because it had a great pesto flavour with a background spice to zap your taste buds with excitement. It wasn’t too overbearing so you wouldn’t have to take a sip of something after each bite. The least exciting pizza was the Salami because it was a little too close to Domino’s pepperoni to be inspiring. On the whole though, these pizza flavours are very similar to what you might find at Flying Wedge; simple pizza concoctions but great taste like at Famoso , and I’d say a little better than Rocky Mountain Flatbread . The rectangular shape wasn’t a deterrent. It makes the pizza perfect for eating with a fork and knife if you choose and perfect for those accustomed to holding their pizzas up by hand. Features: There’s a big open kitchen concept here, and with a big open kitchen comes a large pizza display seen below. This is a great way to entice customers to take a look at the different options before making a decision and a great way to entice customers to take a second look at their options before making a decision to order more pizzas. Great lighting in the restaurant also helps with making the pizza look great. Service: Our server was very friendly to us in explaining all the different flavours which is great because I never know which pizza is which. Even worse is when they come out 4 at a time. Water service was also pretty prompt and was a great time to get to know a
To our shock, when we arrived, they were completely out of pizza dough and actually saved us the last two pieces of dough! The crust was thin and very crunchy on the outside, but soft and chewy inside.
Remember I told you guys I was craving pizza yesterday? Before you go "Heyy, I thought you were trying to eat healthy!" Well I did eat something healthy...sorta LOL! I made the healthiest possible choice, and got a pizza "salad" hahaha! That's as healthy as pizza can get! ;) Anyways, I found this place on Yelp while I was strolling down Main St, aka Hipster Central haha! It was pouring rain and I was walking around like a idiot looking at reviews of all the restaurants I was passing by LOL (the things I do for this blog!) I saw some pretty interesting ones that want to try out: The Reef, Shanti's Curries, Solly's Bagelry, and the Splitz Grill! Then I came across Trilussa, which has a 4.5 star rating on Yelp, which is...really hard to come by! Apparently this place makes the most authentic pizza in all of Vancouver! One guy even claimed that he had traveled the world and this was the best pizza he's ever eaten! While I was noshing on my pizza alot of people came in, and it seemed like they were all regulars because the owner was greeting them all by name, which is always a good sign! Soo many choices!! I WANT ALL OF THEM!! If only I had the money...and the stomach space LOL! ;) The Vancouver $6.34/Regular Size 3.5/5 stars For premium, authentic pizza made with fresh ingredients, this was a great deal! 4 pieces was enough and really satisfying! They serve all their pizzas on a paddle board, which adds to the appeal haha. The "Vancouver" is topped with smoked salmon, and organic salad! There was also (what tasted like) thousand island dressing in it. The smoked salmon had a subtle smokey flavour, and was really flavourful from the spices. The pizza dough itself was a little hard and doughy for my liking, I prefer soft dough that sags a bit lol, but it wasn't a big deal! Lemon Lavender Cake from Trafiq 3.5/5 stars Well...so much for being healthy! After lunch I went over to Trafiq a few doors down for some dessert heheh! Seriously, how could I resist? Cakes
Fresh pizzas made with freshest ingredients, friendly service, reasonable prices and moderate portion sizes. Seating is limited. Menu and pricing available on-line (http://trilussa.ca/)
It took us a while to decide what we wanted because everything looked so good. Unlike the average pizza joint, you can't really buy their pizza as a whole or by slice, that is not an option. Instead you buy it by the inch! 5 inch or 8 inch. In the end K got the Vancouver (salmon and organic salad) and
It is a good restaurant worth the visit. The food is authentic and not overly seasoned like other pizza places that will leave you thirsty for water.
It arrives on a wooden paddle in small pieces, smoking hot and with a touch of oil on top. I may have a cold but damn, this pizza is GOOD, even through a plugged nose. The crust is crunchy, super hot and the mozzarella is that perfectly stringy cheese that you only see in cheese commercials. The pecorino is an AMAZING addition since it's sharpness is just the perfect match to the saltiness and strong flavors of the pancetta. The pizza is a bit oily but don't be afraid - it's drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and it tastes very good with the toppings. Awesome, just awesome. My only disappointment is that fact that I didn't choose the larger size. Je regret.
We decided to try them out and see how their Roman Pane pizzas differ from regular pizzas. I’ve probably driven by this place hundreds of times, and even when looking for it I managed to miss it once and had to turn around. It’s small and low-key, but I love those kind of places! (Q: probably better that when he drives, his eyes are on the road and not looking at other things!) Small and easy to miss. Even before walking in, I could smell the aroma of pizza. Inside, I got a sense of being in a small Italian cafe. There is some seating inside and a couple of tables put outside. The kitchen area is fairly open, which allows you to see how fast the chef, Alessandro Fonsec and his team works. (Q: love the whole open kitchen
Trilussa Pizza and Pane is located on Main Street near 28th ave. They serve up authentic Roman pizza and uses fresh ingredients that make the pizza taste great. Alessandro Fonseca is the owner and the creator of the pizzas. Very friendly staff here too. Our department at work decided to do a mini food crawl during the afternoon at Trilussa. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this place because it’s so cozy…plus they have good pizza. One thing you just have to get is the pizza. The prices are quite fair and all under $10. Once you look at their counter full of the thin crust pizza, I am sure you mouth will start drooling. They have a pretty cool way of cutting the pizza, so you won’t find triangle slices, but you will have squares. Trastevere on the right has pancetta, mozzarella and pecorino cheese. Really good and goooey. Garbatella has sausage, tomatoes and mozzarella. Margherita has the tomato and mozzarella. It’s very simple, but is really good. Attilio on the right side of the bo
I stumbled upon a hidden little pizza place, Trilussa in the Riley Park neighbourhood that I’ve never even noticed before.
