The broth is fabulous, the egg so delicious and the pork is very good. Oddly there are times when you get about half the portion of pork.
Pretty darn good. One of my first ramen experiences in Vancouver. The store front is beautiful. Last I was there, it was a little cramped in there. Kind of hidden away from the main road there- Hokkaido Ramen Santouka is more visible - but don't forget about this place! Worth a try. Broth was super packed with flavour and the noodles and meat were lovely. Not my favourite ramen place but pretty up there!
One of the better ramen joints in Vancouver. The broth was very flavourful and light, the egg, pork, and the noodles were all delicious. The garlic chips at the bar/tables are a nice touch. We would come back if we’re in the area.
Had ramen to this branch and was happy as they’re consistent with their Ramen from noodles to broth. This branch is not that super busy compared to the main branch so our waiting time is less than 10 minutes for 8 people. The place is a bit small and staff are friendly. They don’t accept cash so make sure you have your payment card with you.
Best chicken broth ramen! The Pork slices are very thinly sliced, just wished there were more pieces for the price of 12$. The thin noodles pair well with the broth.
Definitely the best Chicken broth ramen we have ever had. We got the original, and asked for spicy. It certainly had a nice spice kick, the noodles were perfectly cooked, and the egg.. oo la la.. the egg was not only nicely pickled but also perfectly boiled -- oozy yolk. Certainly the best Ramen place in the Yaletown area (if not the whole of Downtown )
Edit: Took a few ramen junkies here, and they loved it too. :D
Edit 2: This is definitely our favorite Ramen place in Vancouver. Now we have tried many different places but we always come back to Marutama. Their soup is chicken based, it's very creamy and yet lighter than the pork based ramen like tonkatsu. The soft boiled egg is perfectly marinated and the chashu is so tender and flavorful. We always go for the spicy which has a very nice mild heat to it. I also like the fried garlic on the table. The serving size is also perfect. It's has always been consistently good.
Best ramen according to us.
Have nothing bad to say about Marutama. Each visit only reminds me that I need to come here more often. Their signature dish: Tamago Ramen (spicy, of course) is heavenly and the soft boiled egg is perfection!
Out of all of the Ramen joints that I’ve tried so far (and I confess, it’s not a WHOLE lot), my best memory comes from the Marutama down at the bottom of the hill on Robson. I remember how delicious the broth was, how awesome the chew of the noodles was, and just..the overall experience! As such, I was super stoked to see a new location opening up at the old Jinya spot!
The spicy tamago ramen remains one of our favourite dishes anywhere in Vancouver. In this particular location, they served decent handmade gyoza as a side dish.
Highly recommended!
came here during dinner, quick dinner, packed, but still okay not much waiting. luckily eating for one doesn't need to take much time due to space limitation, i think eating with alone or another 1 person is good during peak hours/dinner time. the noodle is good, thin, and tangy. the broth is chicken broth which is quite different and at the same time flavourful in different way. so far this is my go to spot for ramen due to chicken broth and no long line ups and decent flavours
