Since opening its doors in 1982, this restaurant has been specializing in Italian and Greek food, serving up pizza and pasta specials. Having lived in this neighbourhood for most of my existence, I have only dined here for lunch when I was very little so it was a completely new experience trying this place again. This place was pretty packed when we arrived for dinner, even on a weeknight. Looking by the endless conversations the staff had with patrons, I can see they have built up a huge fanbase in the neighbourhood!
A few days before payday and you find that your dining choices are much more curated. What’s good and works with my $20 a meal budget? With their Monday to Wednesday specials, “Neighbours”, the neighbourhood joint was a fine pick. When I know a restaurant is family owned and operated my expectations for it are a little different. I shift from a focus on food to one more on vibe. How comfortable and how well taken care of I am, is almost more important than what I am being served. To be labeled as home style encompasses the community and the unity of family. I want to feel that coming in. I want to be welcomed, to know that my stopping in at random is appreciated; and if I have a reservation, that they have been expecting me and are excited to usher me in. Such expectations I trade, in exchange of accepting a regular meal at a fair price. A lot to ask for from this long standing mom and pop kitchen, but they delivered.
Went at a late time. First thing I noticed was the wide menu range, all of them sounded delicious and tempting. I wanted it all, but alas, my stomach could not fit everything. I would agree with the others who have written reviews, generally the baked dishes are where it is at for this restaurant. Overall, its a solid 4. The staff were efficient, the food decent, and the prices were good for what it was. A good place to grab a casual meal, get filled and not break the bank. There will definately be a second visit.
Love the pizza at this place! The shrimp & peppers will always be my favourite. Their lasagna is indulgent and perfectly done almost everytime (except one time when the inside was still cold.) Chicken parmesan is also very good, as well as calamari. The waitress is so nice and welcoming!
Decent to go special menu. I love their dinner to go menu. Good value. The Lasagna is their signature item and it's delicious. Their restaurant was featured on the food network and I must agree... You really gotta eat here. Cozy ambiance, excellent service, reasonable prices.
I saw this restaurant featured on the TV show "you gotta eat here" and their pizza looked so good I thought I need to try this place. So, as luck would have it, I was not too far away from the restaurant the other night while on a job for work, so I thought I would grab a pizza to go and see what it was like.
I'm glad I did.
I ordered a small ham and pineapple, and it really was fantastic. No complaints at all. Pleasant restaurant staff, a decent price, and a very great tasting, nicely cooked pizza.
I don't eat pizza too much anymore, and usually order one about once every month. I would order from this place, but they are way on the other side of town and don't deliver to where I live. And sadly, I'm just never really out there so unfortunately I don't think I'll eat here too often even though the pizza really is fantastic.
I wish they were in my neighborhood.

Food was good, but nothing to rave about. Prices on the higher end for what you get.
Decor should be either old pizza restaurant style or give it a modern decor. Photos are great, but don't work with the stucco look.
Staff are very friendly, but can take time getting beverages refilled.
Will go back if in the neighborhood.

Delicious. Great cozy little place that can get quite packed on the weekends. I LOVE their lasagna, it's a must try and I can never finish it in one sitting! Kalamari is tasty as well and the Daily Special is soooooo good. Comfort food in a comfy setting. Love it.

Tasty Pizza. This is another little place I tried out after seeing it on "You Gotta Eat Here". I've only had the pizza so far, but I really liked it. Nice texture and taste to the crust, not greasy, reasonable prices. When I have a bit more time one night, I plan to eat in and get the lasagna, or maybe one of the lamb dishes.

Delicious Lamb. Loved the food, service and lack of pretentiousness ! If you are craving a homestyle meal, with generous portions and flavour , this is your neighborhood restaurant. My husband and one year old daughter came here on a Friday night. We ordered the lamb and the lasagna and ribs. The food was excellent, the lamb fell off the bone and had great slow roasted flavor, with some cinnamon, I suspect.... The ribs were delicious as well. Even the Greek salad, which at usual spots, lacks quality, was evenly flavoured , crisp and delicious. The service towards my daughter was the best we've ever had... And after we forgot a couple of things at the table, the management came to find us outside to give us my daughters sippy cup and book.
Great service and above all, the food was lovely, authentic, and fresh.
Great pizza. This little family-owned pizza/greek restaurant is rightly very popular. It's clearly family-run (the servers were friendly, efficient ladies who kept our glasses full and the tables turning over though we never felt rushed), and updated but still comfortable. The spanakopita with more-ish tzatziki was very good, and we really enjoyed the pizza! The crust was crispy from a well-oiled pan and not overly bread-y, the sauce was thick and kept the toppings in place, and the whole thing was liberally covered with fresh toppings & cheese. A couple of notes: the menu is huge! There are some *very* reasonably priced specials and items, but it ended up being $40 for our shared apply and a large pizza with tax. Also a large pizza here could pass for a medium somewhere else- so order accordingly!
Consistently good food, good service and friendly atmosphere. Eat at Neighbour's; you will like it. Try the baked Spaghetti or lasagna. The owner/cook is nicest guy around , and everyone is so friendly to kids which is getting to be rare in this city
Awesome!!!. Great local family owned restaurant tucked away in South Vancouver. Fabulous food and the service is excellent. If your a regular they remember your order from weeks / months ago. That's service. Congratulations for being on the Food Network. Hardwork paid off and well deserved for the Neighbour's family.

GREAT DINING EXPERIENCE. After viewing the segment on the Food Network 04/27/2012 featuring Neighbour's Restaurant, I decided to see for myself if the food really was that good.The next morning we began our trip from Kamloops to Vancouver in search of the ultimate Greek and Italian cuisine! After picking up our oldest son (a poor starving medical student)we made our way to the restaurant by cab, and were seated shortly after are arrival about 6:30 pm.After reviewing the mouth watering menu we placed our orders with a very knowlegable and friendly server.We each had different dishes including shrimp souvalaki and my favorite chicken parmeson,and just like on TV the meals were amazing!! So amazing we ordered their pizza the following night wihich again was in a class of it's own! I would like to give a Big Thanks to the staff and owners of Neighbour's for offering such amazing food and service at such a reasonable price. If you ever want to franchise to Kamloops you let me know! If not how about DELIVERY !

Great pizza! Ordered it for delivery last night after seeing it on You Gotta Eat Here earlier that day. Delivery took a bit longer than I was told (probably due to the demand due to the show) but when it arrived it was hot and fresh. Very "hearty" pizza but not greasy per se. A welcome change from the chain outlets, which is something I've been looking for for a long while. We will definitely eat here again.
Love ittttt. I love to go to this place and drink long island ice tea....and order food. i ordered tortellini which was average but tasty. nothin weird about it at all. i liked the steak alot and i love love love the hummus! the waitress has always been friendly and funny. i go here all the time and love it.

I've been to Neighbour's Restaurant 5 or 6 times and I've never been disappointed. It's an Italian restaurant with a mom & pop feel and superb pizzas. It has also been featured on You Gotta Eat Here. The location is pretty good as there aren't too many restaurants in the area and parking is free and fairly easy to find within a one block walking distance. The restaurant itself has a homey feel to it and they can take a couple of larger parties. Service isn't bad, although it can be slow at times. Even when the restaurant isn't full, it can still take over 20 minutes for food to arrive due to all the take-out and pick-up orders that they have to process. When the restaurant is full on a hockey night, you can expect to wait 30 minutes as they work to keep up with orders. The food at Neighbour's is really good. I always order a pizza because they are well made. The crust is crispy on the bottom (think Pizza Hut pan pizzas) but never too greasy and the crust is crispy on the outside and so
I wasn’t aware of this for the longest time, though they HEAVILY emphasize it, they were featured on the Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here! So…I guess I have to eat there, yay! Not wanting the usual steak special, I ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Dish (15.95) The Greek salad was very fresh, and had a good amount of oil. The rice was seasoned fairly well, and was al dente (not mush), though the chicken part of it, I had some issues. Although there was sauce, it pretty much all pooled at the bottom, leaving all of the chicken not touching the bottom dry like a desert breeze.
