La Notte was my Italian friend's restaurant of choice, when we all decided to go out for Italian. It's close to UBC, it's a family-run establishment, and it has an extensive wine list!
It was fairly busy, but we had called ahead and reserved a huge table for all (12-13) of us. First things first: complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We were very hungry, and even had seconds.
They were running a special offer - on Thursdays, for $25, you could enjoy a three-course meal! Almost everyone ordered one of that, as did I.
I took my friend's suggestion and went for stracciatella for the first course, and vitello al funghi for the mains. For dessert, they had chocolate mousse.
The stracciatella was not the most flavorful soup I've ever had, but I still enjoyed it. The main course was pretty good, and I loved their mousse.
La Notte's price to portion ratio is a bit on the higher side, but maybe coming back for $8 pasta on a Tuesday would be worth it :) I would definitely go for that, but otherwise, not so much. Extra points for their super friendly servers though! They were very nice, and would chat and joke with us. The restaurant itself has a welcoming vibe as well.
Great food. Good service. Cozy atmosphere. Love the love piano player in the background. Best desert of my life!
Excellent value. Once again we had a fine meal, properly served without delay. The pasta, shellfish and my Pollo Marsala (chicken) were all very good. The Bruschetta appetizer and even the coffee were enjoyable - we had no desert.
Last time we all had the Osso bucco (friday evenings) which was delicious - since it is our family's favourite, we requested it, over the 'phone, in our reservation!
This is a great place, not overly fancy, but totally competently run.
I absolutely loved this restaurant! Great food and the dessert was amazing. I will definitely be going back!
John. Loved it, great food espesialy like tuesdays
Neighborhood Italian. Menu/food is very good. Wine list is good. Enjoyable experience. Better than average and nice to step into for a quiet meal.
Three things I absolutely adore: good food, amazing friends and lovely atmosphere. This past week, La Notte (a wonderful Italian restaurant on Dunbar just south of 16th Avenue, near the UBC campus) had all 3: food that was delicious, across my seat in the same table I had my good friend Erica Hargreave who is one of my best friends, and the atmosphere was just right (although the lighting didn't help my photos, not even in macro). I loved La Notte for so many reasons: the food was excellent, and not extremely expensive (actually, quite inexpensive). The service was spectacular. The pasta they create is perfectly cooked and not overwhelmingly heavy, and they totally spoiled me on my choice of dinner. And it was lovely of my good friend Erica to take me there for dinner (I had been working late at the university), since she was in town just briefly on her way to Ontario. Casual fine dining is yours to enjoy in a Tuscan atmosphere. Well known for its Pasta selections and veal specialties,
