Review Indian Roti Kitchen - Vancouver

Leif Bailey
I've been going here for almost ten years and it's always excellent! Big portions, get some extra to have leftovers... Everything on the menu is great. Mixed pickles are a great addition if you need a hit of extra spice! The woman who runs the counter is always lovely (I think she is one of the owners). Highly recommend

What a meal! Absolutely delicious! The spice is no joke be careful. The mango lassi is incredible too.

First time here, had Lamb Roti (spicy), suggested by attendent. Great taste, lamb chunks were properly cooked in a delicious gravy wrapped in a large portion roti (bread). Nicely cooked ,hot and spicy meal. Enough for dinner serving for one. You can select from range of spice, I selected the max spicy one which was okay as per Indian taste. Only take out, no dine in option when I went. Neat & clean packing. Roti got soft after some time due to gravy, will try rice option next time.

Just wow, I was craving for something spicy and man, did the Indian Roti Kitchen Deliver ! , The food was spicy, but not too hot and you could taste the love and care they put in their food! Well done! Keep it up !

Was my first time ordering from them I ordered the chicken biranyi. The portion was really good and I'm going to get some meals out of it. I appreciate i can choose the heat level, the only complaint I have is you can't order any Naan or roti as a side but wasn't a deal breaker. Will definitely buy from them again.

I don't have much experience with Indian food, but I thought it was really good! I got the lamb roti with mild to medium spicy and the spice was just right. I might get the next spice up next time 🤭

When I miss Toronto’s Indian roti, I come here. The food is excellent and tastes clean, balanced and home cooked with a lot of care. My favourites are the samosas, korma and madras curry.

Would eat here every night if I could. Fave spot in the city. Delicious food, large portions, no frills kind of place. The mutter paneer roti is 11/10.

Best food, lovely service. I barely eat at other restaurants.

Everything I have tried from this fine establishment has been outstanding and the service is great as well!

THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! The food is delicious, the prices are (very) affordable, the service is out of this world - it's always the same person when I come, which is probably too much, and they are the best! - and location is accessible. Ideal for take-out. 6,7, 1000 stars really!

The most delicious Indian food, ever! My wife and I need look no further for Indian food that has our mouth watering at the very thought of having roti for dinner. Is it bad that we go there nearly every week now? I think not.

My buddy was in town for Acro Festival so I picked somewhere nearby for us to eat. We decided to try Indian Roti Kitchen, which specializes in roti. It’s next door to Tropika Malaysian Cuisine. We dropped in on a Saturday evening (around 6:45pm). It’s literally a hole in the wall with only two tables (8 seats total). Most people were getting takeout. Service is friendly and they refilled our waters several times.

This place serves stuffed rotis that are pretty delicious. You can tell them your level of spiciness (literally, they have a chart for it) and they'll make it that way. The proportions are humongous and very filling. Take away was quick, the lady was nice and polite.

Indian Roti Kitchen is more of a small takeaway place. They don't have perky interiors, just two humble tables. Coming to the food, they had a scale for spiciness, I chose 4, since I love spicy food. The stuffing was flavorful, subtle not as im your face as other Indian restaurants. Not too expensive either. Recommended for a decent Indian meal.

Great food. TERRIBLE service. I have been a regular customer here for quite some time - often craving their delicious food, and order for pick-up, as well as dining in. However, although they have delicious food, they have terrible service. Only one woman works at the front - answering phones, serving customers, dealing with pick-up orders, payments, and she can clearly NOT handle it all by herself. Not sure why they haven't hired someone to assist at the front, but it is taking a toll on their business. As nice as the "lone woman" has been in the past, today she was nothing short of INSANE. I called ahead to order for pickup, she said it would be fifteen to twenty minutes. I was driving an EVO (pay by the minute), and therefore asked it there was anyway they could rush my order as I was just down the street. She said they'd do their best, but that it was likely going to be 15 minutes for sure. I said Ok, placed my order, and made my way there. Traffic was crazy so I got there after about 15 minutes, and parked the EVO in a precariously small spot - with the hazards on, hoping my order would be ready. I walked in and a number of people were ahead of me, so I patiently waited off to the side until I was able to pay. Meanwhile the phone was ringing off the hook, people were coming and going for their pick-up orders, paying for them at the front; she was multi-tasking, answering phones, running credit cards, running back to the kitchen to get orders for pick-up, etc. Meanwhile the clock was ticking on, and my EVO was costing me more every minute. It ended up taking half an hour. True, not too much longer than her estimate, but had I known it would take that long, I would have "signed off" the EVO, and walked in to pick it up instead (walking home afterwards). When my food was finally ready, I went to tell her that had I known it was a half hour, I would have made different choices regarding my EVO, but couldn't even get a word in. She started yelling at me, saying "You ALWAYS do this!!! You STRESS me out!!!......and so on, and so on, and so on!!!" And generally, just flew off the handle - covering her ears like a 4 year old so she couldn't hear me responding to her outrageous behaviour. There was ONE, I repeat, ONE other occasion when I was in a rush to pickup my to-go food, again, because I had an EVO waiting. But I was not rude, or impolite - I simply let her know I had a "pay by the minute car" waiting. I worked in the service industry for years, and eventually ended up leaving as I couldn't handle the demands hungry customers put on me, while my colleagues could. I would take things personally, they wouldn't. I realized it was not a good environment for me, and it's clear, it is not a good environment for the lady who works here. Honestly, I've recommended this place to SOOOOOO many people in the past because of the good food, but having one of the owners(?) go off on me in her restaurant, yelling at me in front of another customer is unacceptable. A petulant toddler should not be the face of an otherwise good business. So, go here at your own risk..... you might just get her on a good day and leave happy. But honestly, Indian Roti Kitchen, you should seriously consider hiring someone who actually knows what they're doing when it comes to customer service, and the ability to handle customer feedback and complaints.

If you love spicy Indian food, you have to eat here! For their dishes, they offer a 6 point spice scale and it is actually very spicy. We ordered the vegetable pakora, butter chicken roti, and the lamb biryani. Even though this place is small, the food has a lot of flavour. The majority of their customers order their food to go, but the lady who works there provides service regardless.

Price is fair and their portions are quite big. We would recommend this restaurant hands down.

Located at 2961 Cambie Street, Indian Roti Kitchen is opened 7 days a week from 4 pm to 10 pm (no lunch). When I arrived at their small shop, I discovered that it is primarily a take-out place. In the distance, I could see several take-out orders ready to be picked up. A steady stream of customers came in, picked up their food and left. Dining in is limited as there are only two tables.

Delicious Indian foods wrapped in a roti blanket. Spice level is is honest, the hottest spice level is definitely a hot spice, you've been warned :)

Can't go wrong with this small establishment, but it's mostly good for To-go orders as there are few tables.

I recommend this to anyone wanting cheap delicious and healthy food.

I like roti, but didn't know of any places until I found this spot.

I got take out, which is probably better as its a really small space. There are maybe 3 tables here.

I got the chicken curry roti with a spicy rating of 4. It was a good amount of spice; you get a definite burn. All ingredients were good quality, and the taste is what it should be. Will definitely try other items.

Just had a wonderful meal there with 4 friends. Sat evening, no wait, very generous portions, very friendly, great service. The lamb saag roti and veg korma roti were our favorites. Their mango lassi was also a big hit. Best roti place in town. We will be coming back!

This place mostly has North Indian rotis, however, the flavours are much subtle as opposed to being more robust which would be traditional. Also, more potatoes than meat in the roti? A decent value for money but I would prefer not seeing too many carbs rolled into carbs unless im eating a burrito

Lamb Madras Roti. Various levels of spiciness, this curry has a creamy texture and tender lamb. some good!

Deliciousness!. This place is very authentic. Everything is on point - the flavor, the price point and most of all the level of service. Super friendly too!
They are very cautious with food allergies and food sensitivities catering to every individual so that anyone interested can enjoy this delicious cuisine! My personal favorite, the aloo gobi!
It's definitely a new favorite of ours ; so glad we stumbled upon it!

Love this place!. Excellent food, friendly owners, great prices, and able to customize for specific diets. Really good experience every time we eat here. One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver.

One of my favourites. I had to write a review because I can't believe this place is rated 99% .. it should be 110% :)

My partner and I have been eating here very consistently over the past couple of months. He has tried different varieties of the chicken roti and I have tried a variety of the veggie rotis. We have never been disappointed (far from it, in fact). Not to mention the service is very friendly.

As a vegetarian, I think my favorite is the Saag Aloo Roti, although I'm sure it depends on what your preferences are. One thing I know for sure is that everything I have tried from this place has been delicious :) There is ALWAYS more than enough to eat. Unless you are especially hungry, I'm sure you could eat half and save the other half for the next day (this is another thing I like about this place). And it's very reasonably priced for the amount of food you are getting and the quality.

Hands down, this is the best restaurant in the south cambie area.
Sabrina
My curry had a terrible consistency and was obviously frozen and reheated.
Would not eat here again.

Great place. Very cute!. This cozy restaurant is a great place for Indian food! The prices are good and the service is even better. Check it out :)

Perfect comfort food!. Indian Roti Kitchen is our favourite take-out food... by a long shot. When we moved to Vancouver from Toronto one of the things we missed the most was Gandhi Roti. We were soooo happy to find Indian Roti Kitchen when it opened a few months ago.

The food is great - and for the price it really can't be beat! Two full meals for under $10. I also love that we can get good India food close to home and can get it spicy enough to be really interesting.

Great Indian spot!. We had never had roti before and it was delicious! We started with the pakoras and samosas which were really good then I had the butter chicken roti. Only $9 for the roti and a huge portion. I only ate half! Definitely will be going again.

Delish foods - nice addition to Cambie Village. This little gem is a great addition to our neighbourhood. The small but cozy space is clean and minimalist & modern. However most of the customers (including myself) appear to be picking up take-outs. I've eaten perhaps 4 times, and each time was rewarding.

The biryanis are very nice, the basmati rice ever so fluffy and thoroughly steeped in flavor. However I wish they put a bit more meat in the meat biryanis, nevertheless they are always tender and flavorful without being overly-salty, a trait many local Indian restaurants foods exhibit.

I now prefer the rotis (meat or vegetarian) as they are total comfort foods and a great value at around $7-9 for a VERY generous portion. Last night I had the aloo gobi roti (cauliflower + potato) and it was very good.

Spiciness is on a 6-point scale (1 -> 6) so you can have it exactly as you like it. I started out on a 1 and am now at 2 (yes I'm a weenie), and can probably handle 3 alright.

Owners (young couple) are warm and friendly, and you are always greeted with a big smile when you walk in.

Menu: http://www.indianrotikitchen.com/menu.htm

So happy!. I was absolutely thrilled when I saw the Indian Roti sign go up late last year. One of my favourite comfort foods is a roti. I couldn't wait for the shop to open. I was there on their first day and have treated myself and family to rotis several times since. I'd highly recommend Indian Roti Kitchen. The shop is welcoming, the service prompt (and cheerful), and the food delicious!

Check it out!. Unassuming place with great food and service. got the lamb masala roti with pakoras and was definitely impressed with the amount of food/portion size. owner is super sweet as well, an awesome addition to cambie village.

Amazing. Clean, healthy food, options, good for special diets, dishes made to order, priced right. Go here. You will be happy. I felt like I was floating through space, eating paneer to light trance music. (In a good way).

We came here today after walking by several times. The food was phenomenal. We started with the pakoras which were the perfect balance between moist and fried and tried a mixed vegetable roti and a mutter paneer roti. Both were fantastic. I am a big fan of Indian food and this may be my new favourite place in Vancouver!

Tasti she Roti. A fine addition to the Cambie Village area at very reasonable prices. Taste is fantastic and the portions are more than generous. Do yourself a favour and check it out; I'll definitely be back!

At the risk of repeating what everyone else has said about this place...it's all true. Efficient, good value and delicious curries. And if you say you want spicy, they'll give it to you! Had the butter chk and madras lamb, two thumbs up...These guys are doing a great job

Best Roti in town!. I just ate my first (of what will be many more to come) vegetarian roti (Mixed Vegetable Curry Roti - $7.99) from Indian Roti Kitchen! It was amazing! Great value and excellent flavours! I just moved back to Vancouver and I am super stoked to have this place in my neighborhood. The owners are super friendly too! Check it out - 2961 Cambie St.

Indian Roti Kitchen is open. The food is really good, cooked right and healthy, the portions are surprisingly huge. The price is very good for this area, I really also liked their uniforms and big smiles, really good energy in this business

We ordered lamb saag curry, butter chicken, and chicken korma rotis and they were all really good! Served piping hot, the chunks of lamb were tender and cooked perfectly along with the fluffy potato chunks that melted when you took a bite. There were 6 levels of spiciness you can choose from – I took the safer option and went with Mild Medium, which has just enough kick but not too much...
