Essential burger experience! I think the best time is Happy Hour! Meat is always tasty and fresh. presentation excellent! I really like burger and beer here!
Our server “Pam from the Office”, was awesome! Provided a great atmosphere and recommendations.
Had the Brussels Sprouts (HEAVEN), Wings, Nachos, and Lettuce Wraps to split between 5 people. Everything was delicious and filling.
I had the “El Diablo” to drink and started a trend at the table. Super drink! 😊
Would go back again for sure.
Truffle fries, $6.95: The scent of the truffle oil slowly wafting to our table was amazing. Mmmm… truffle oil…. The fries were delicious, crunchy and fresh. We would definitely order this again!
It's alright - nice patio and beautiful view. I like their burgers and the menu has gotten better over the years. It is not spectacular. I do like hanging out there in the summer and they are accommodating for our kiddos, which is nice. The manager is wonderful and always does his best to help out when needed.
Beautiful location! Great patio and awesome takeout window. Service was very friendly and attentive. We had to wait until after our entrees for our appetizer but otherwise our meal was good. The food was tasty, but I don't like it when major ingredients are left off the description of the burger. Obviously I just took things off at the table, but I don't like wasting food or having to dissect my meal before I eat it. Not a huge deal, but a bit odd to me.
Great location and atmosphere (music and decor). Unfortunately the space in the restaurant was quite tight making it feel a little cramped. The service was really good and they kept checking in with us to ensure things were good.
Both my partner and I ordered the Brewer's BBQ burger, which was on the month's fresh sheet. For $15.95 you get burger and fries. That was cheaper than the burgers on the menu (average $13.95) then having to pay $5 more for fries. With that being said, their burgers are fairly large that if you don't have a big appetite fries and burger may be too much food.
The taste of the food was decent. I wouldn't say it was fabulous because the burger I ordered was supposed to have tequila lime onions with pepper jack cheese, maple smoked bacon on top of this organic beef burger dressed with a grapefruit ale BBQ sauce, and, it was a little bland. The beef burger tasted delicious but I couldn't taste any of the other flavours I was expecting. It tasted like a regular cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and bacon I could get at White Spot. They could have done a better job of bringing our the tequila lime onions and maple smoked bacon.
A nice perk was filling out the survey in the end to get a free dessert donuts on my next visit.
Came here a few times for the $5 Benny special. They're only available on Saturdays and Sundays before 11am. I find the food is not too consistent because the first time I went, the potatoes were put in the deep fryer until they were crisp and brown. The second time my potatoes were not crisp, but my sister's plate was brown and crisp. But for $5, I can't complain! Would go back again. You get a free coupon for their drunken donuts for your next visit if you do the short survey when they bring you the bill!
Good selection of food. Quality is great, I have always been happy with the food taste. Pricing is fair, but some items can be a little pricy. service is good, but it can get very busy at peak times - expect to wait a long time on Friday night. They do takeout - yay.
Great location with a lovely view. Love this place as their beef is sourced locally from BC (no hormones or antibiotics). Burgers are made to order and service is usually quite consistent. Truffle Fries and onion rings are always a must! Burgers don't come with sides so there are additional costs to add sides. Burgers are a bit on the smaller side but overall quite tasty (might need a pinch more seasoning). Their Brioche buns are soft and toasty. Mango Mint Ice Tea is the bomb!! Oh and don't forget to finish your meal off with their yummy drunken doughnuts!!
Good service. Nice view of the river from the patio. The real test of a 'Burger Bar' is a basic patty with basic stuff on it. Romer's passed with flying colours but didn't blow my mind. Will return to try some other things. The whole menu looks amazing.
• quietly located in the River district (south Vancouver - Marine drive where a lot of trees have been chopped for more condos)
• parking can be a problem, limited space in the restaurant, park along the street if theres any available or carpool if you must
• servers and hostess are nice, friendly and don't give you a tired look; checks out with you couple of times and refills your drinks efficiently
• food is good, I recommend the onion rings which was piping hot with a tasty garlic dill dipping sauce sprinkled with fresh parmesan & thyme. The garlic fries are so good too but the serving is small. The freshness elevates all the flavours you can tell that the potatoes and onions are not frozen and fried.
Suggestion for the menu, waffle cut fries + nachos together
• Man's man burger is good, simple and you'll love it for $13.25. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Meat is not fatty, you won't get that greasy feel around your lips after you finish this. Side of fries optional $
• Wicked deadly cheese was just ok, I'd probably not order this again and just concentrate on the"fave list". Something is missing on this burger
• $5 sangria on Saturdays which was a delight
Had lunch here yesterday.. Ordered the fish tacos and then mans man Burger with mushrooms. The burger was good . My taco was not bad either but because of the crispy shell it felt a bit too greasy.
Food was good. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was a bit burnt.. hard and crunchy. The appies were great tho, highly recommended the wings, truffle fries, and the Brussel sprouts. Those were my absolute fav. The appy ribs were ok, not the greatest. They offer to make it 'green' by replacing your brioche bun with half a head of lettuce for extra charge. Other than the snooty waitress it was a pleasant meal :)
There are so many bugs in the washroom! If you're on the patio in the summer there are tons of bugs too! I love their dip mini donuts and their burgers are not bad either.
Instead of always ordering the benedicts from Romer’s weekend brunch menu, I opted to try something new from their regular menu and went with the Street Tacos! They have four to choose from but the one that appealed to me the most was the “Wild Pacific Fish Tacos” ($14.95). This came with chipotle slaw and roasted tomato salsa.
Ok I'm not a big fan of corporate restaurants. But I was invited by my brother and his gf here for dine out. I gotta be honest, wow...
The mushroom burger I had was so light. It tasted amazing and I didn't feel like a grease ball afterwards. Very well done. Decor and ambient cozy and our server was amazing I wish I knew her name. She has brown hair tied back in a pony tail. Wonderful service.
Need a place to park your dog? No problem it's a dog friendly area
Update: I went back for brunch. Ordered the watermelon salad, sausage bennys, Cajun shrimp bennys. Nicely done. To my suprise a really fresh cup of coffee wow...
The burgers here have not disappointed me at all. Tammy had the Man's Man awhile back and she thought it was average. I had the Chorizodor and was blown away my first time here. However, the Kobe burger just tasted like a regular burger. I've had Kobe before and ....other places Kobe lived up to standards.
Anyways, this review is about their Holiday Turkey Burger. Best Turkey burger I've ever had! It wasn't dry, and had stuffing as well as cranberry sauce on it! In a nutshell, it was everything delicious about the holidays in one burger.
I'm only giving the restaurant a 4.5/5 because I think the Kobe could be much better. This Turkey burger makes my Top 5 ever though. Brewji approves!
PROS
+ Love their patio
+ Donuts are really tasty, love them
+ Liked their pulled pork
+ A variety of premium cheese you can choose
+ Fresh, crispy french fries
CONS
- Coffee tastes (really) bad
My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday evening. We sat out on the patio and watched people walk by as the sun set. It wasn't very busy, so the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. Service was good, standard, nothing over the top but not bad either. We shared the Threesome as an appetizer (olives, spicy nuts, and pickles). My boyfriend really likes olives so he was disappointed that they weren't mixed olives, but they were still really good. The only problem was that there were a lot of each thing, which in my opinion is too much for just two people. I can only eat so many pickles and nuts, so this dish would be better with a larger group of people. We also shared the Jamaican Chicken Tacos and the All Day Breakfast Burger. The tacos come in two, with a side of fries. Fries were thick cut and nice and hot, and we got the Spicy Banana Ketchup as well. The Ketchup had a nice kick, and a subtle banana flavor. Who knew bananas and ketchup went well together? The tacos weren't in a typical tortilla, more like thin naan bread, or thicker roti bread. I prefer tortillas but my boyfriend liked it. The burger was DELICIOUS. The pork sausage patty was nice and spicy, and egg yolk was creamy and runny, and all the condiments worked perfectly on the burger. That was the selling point for me, other than being able to sit near the water without having to go all the way into the heart of Vancouver. Overall experience was good, we'll definitely come back here.
Pricey but not bad. Good quality food. It is indeed expensive and I think that's what most people are complaining about. The waitresses are so confused and forget to fill up your drinks, likely due to a high turnover rate as each individual has to be re-trained (but this is only an assumption). I guess it does not matter what people comment on about this restaurant because it is ALWAYS busy. The are no other restaurants you can get to by walking if you live in river district. Rumour has it that the owner of the restaurant has strong connections with the mayor, thus the prime location. I gave this restaurant a "like" because I thought the burgers tasted pretty good, especially the jerk chicken burger.
Burgers Good - Service Bad. Been here a few times, always have had great burgers. But the waitresses always seem very unfriendly.
Tasty huge burgers...salads were dry and far too large (the people at our table couldn't finish them)..noisy place...hard to have a conversation but there is a patio thats quieter..modern interior with historical pictures of bc logging on the nearby fraser river...not sure we would rush back to eat there again...
Tasty burger but expensive even for plain fries on the side. Too bad I couldn't get the burger cooked to the temperature of my choice. View was good and atmosphere was good. Service was slow with a larger group.
BRUNCH was really GOOD!!! Now we have a decent place to go for Bennies on the weekend. Had the basic Bennie and knew it was going to be good when I saw that the egg had been poached in water.; Obviously someone really knows their stuff on this kitchen. Serving was reasonable, well priced and the hollandaise was real (not premade powdered stuff you usually get). I was pleasantly surprised by Romer's brunch and will soon return.
Burgers by the river!. Such a nice view to have a meal, the server was great and attentive where she explained menu items we didn't understand with great detail (ie. the Drunken Doughnuts)
Had the Magic Mushroom, which was great with lots of mushrooms and the patty was pretty beefy.
The only gripe I had was the burger didn't come with a side order automatically. We had to order sides on top (poutine & onion rings) but the portions were sizable to share between my friends.
A new gem in the neighborhood. Very surprised of how this neighborhood has developed. Right by the quiet water and an open patio for the sun.
Food was really good. A little surprised that the burgers were served alone without a side. For a $12 burger, I may have expected a little more. Had the Man's Man burger. Didn't amuse me like some bloggers had mentioned. Order garlic fries on the side. Was good, but in my opinion, was not outstanding. The drunkin mini doughnuts were truely outstanding. The dips were incredible.
Service was really good.
Great fries. We had the garlic fries and the yam fries. Both were very good. The burgers were good but not outstanding. Lower on my list of burger joints. Clean with a nice deck and location.
Great atmosphere. I ordered the mushroom burger. I thought it tasted good, but for the price of the burger, it should be heaping of mushrooms and boursin cheese, but it wasn't. The pickles and olives were really tasty - peanuts were a little on the bland side. The donuts were very good - my favorite is the maple whisky sauce. The atmosphere and service was good. FYI...they only have 2 bathrooms for both boys and girls - yuck!
...once you are on the patio you really don’t want to leave. The view is amazing with the river, a small kids play area and lots of people out for an evening stroll with their dogs and loved ones. It’s a chillax place to be.
Hey Everyone, Had lunch with my coworkers yesterday at Romer's in River District, the one on Kerr by Marine. We had no idea this restaurant was part of the Dine Out program as well, so this was a pleasant surprise! Normally the burgers don't come with any fries, but with the Dine Out menu, you get fries included, along with an appetizer and their mini donuts for dessert! Here's the Dine Out menu: It might be a little hard to read, but there are actually two options here, the $18 menu or the $25 menu. This is the second time I've been to this location, and the third time I've dined at a Romer's. After each of those two visits, I came out pondering why Romer's was considered as such a good burger joint by many of my friends. While the first two times weren't very impressive, I was hoping this third visit would change my opinion of Romer's. I decided to start off with a Thomas Kemper Craft Brewed Rootbeer $4 ; no alcohol today! This rootbeer was very delicious! The fizz isn't too strong, right on point, and the flavour is just so smooth! Definitely a must try for all you rootbeer lovers out there! I ordered from the $18 menu, so for starters, I had the Tomato Basil Soup (normally $6.95) . This soup was actually very tasty! Very rich with a little bit of spice to it! What you see on the side are a few squares of grilled cheese sandwiches, which they consider as "croutons" to go with the soup! I only found out about these being croutons after the fact because I ended up eating them first straight up, because I love grilled cheese sandwiches! I was disappointed to find out however, that they were cold, which should have been a hint that these were meant to be croutons for the soup, and not consumed separately as actual sandwiches. All in all, a very good starter. For the burger, I chose the Magic Mushroom Burger (normally $12.95) . This is a hand-crafted beef patty, topped with carmelized onions, sauteed portobello mushrooms, herb garlic Boursin, and baby arugula. Thes
I enjoyed the balanced tastes and textures of the patty, toppings, and bun. The crispy onion strings on the Man's Man looked delicious, though everything on that plate was gone within five minutes. The Magic Mushroom disappeared slowly. By the end of our time, we regretfully did not have room for dessert. If anyone tries the Famous Drunken Doughnuts or the Warm Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding, please tell me how you like them!
It was honestly a piece of fine art how well everything complimented each other. (One word of Caution: don’t order it if you don’t like mustard
Nice natural chunk of beef covered with port-braised onions, creamy Stilton and fresh thyme leaves. The additions don't overwhelm the meat, only enhance it.
Romer's Burger Bar located down by the Fraser River in an undeveloped neighbourhood in Vancouver just off Kerr St and Marine Drive.
So there you have it… a visit to a burger place without ordering a single burger. If you’ve been to Romer’s before and like their burgers, make sure you try out their brunch items
It was a nice atmosphere, service was kind. The food was around average. My burger patty in particular was very charred - not sure if that's just the style but made the meat rough for me to eat personally.
The fries are crispy (which I do like).
A little more on the pricey side but
overall decent experience, would come again.
We went there with friends on Remembrance Day ( they open at 11 instead of 10 that day). Covered patio seating area with outside fireplace was great choice. You can sea water from their. It’s nice location. Menu items was a good variety but brunch is only at weekends. Staff were friendly and service was nice. Food amounts was reasonable and tasty.
Tried out the dine out Vancouver menu. The Nashville hot wings were really good, perfectly cooked chicken wing, great dry spice rub, just needs a touch of more salt. But the hot sauce combined with ranch was amazing. Their cauliflower wings weren’t bad but again the sauce was amazing. The burger was okay, patty was a bit dry but over all was pretty tasty when I added extra sauce. The berry cobbler was incredible. The berries were not overly sweet, the tartness balanced the flavour of the sweet vanilla ice cream. The drunken donuts were also very very good. Tasted like fresh mini donuts from PNE but the true star was the Kahlua Nutella chocolate sauce. Normally Nutella is very very sweet on its own but the sourness of the Kahlua liqueur balanced out the flavours and you get a nice toffee, chocolate blend. I also drizzled the chocolate sauce on top of my vanilla ice cream to add another layer of flavour. Would definitely return for the dessert.
Good burgers and bowls, as always. I REALLY wish they had never removed the jerk chicken burger, however! Great selection of wine. Lovely ambience!
Great happy hours and it did get busy on a Thursday evening. Good thing they are expanding along with the neighborhood developments. Had a great time here without having to go to downtown.
