Review Delhi 6 Indian Bistro - Vancouver

Ample seating and great service. Went in for a Saturday lunch. The service was quick and courteous. The Naans and spring rolls were amazing. The Biriyanis can be spicy but definitely worth it.

Two stars only for the decoration. But the food is horrible, oily and full of fat. It does not resemble the lightness of Indian food and is drenched in oil and you do not feel its taste. Unfortunately, this applies to naan bread and butter chicken as well. And the amount I paid is also more than it's worth. An experience that will not be repeated

This Indian Bistro is described as vegetarian friendly with vegan options…the cuisines of Indian,Asian and Fusion options drew us to this restaurant…The Tandoori Flatbread, the Kalamari, and Specialty Chicken that we ordered was very delicious..the service was excellent and super friendly and made our dinner a very special event…the atmosphere is very welcoming and the seating arrangement is very comfortable…

In spite of the fact that Indian food easily ranks in my top #5 favorite types of international cuisine, I am often disappointed by what I typically find is average to good, but not great Indian food. With that being said, while visiting Vancouver, I went to Delhi-6 Indian Bistro, on the strength of a personal recommendation. Having ordered my go-to menu items (Vegetable Samosas, Dal Soup, Garlic Naan, Bhindi Masala, and Chicken Kadai) I couldn't have been more satisfied. This restaurant has it all, from great service, a pleasant ambiance, and most importantly GREAT food. I will 100% be back next I am in Vancouver, and the time after that, and the time after that).

Seating was readily available, didn't have to wait. Loved their garlic naan and paneer tikka masala

First the good part - the food was good and the ambiance was 👍. The bad part - BAD service, and surely high priced. Firstly the wait was long for food to get to our table. And after the food landed, it felt like they forgot about us, the attendant was so infrequent at our table that when we ran out of naan and water, and we were waiting for roughly 15 mins in the middle of our dinner to order more naan. By the time additional naans landed, we had lost our remaining appetite. To note here, the place wasn't even busy or crowded for the service to be that laid back.

First things first, this is clearly not a fine dining restuarant as some google maps pictures suggest. The seats are torn/worn out to the point of looking bit shabby, tables are bare, and they serve paper napkins. Our opinion is that it wasn't worrh it's price range. Not sure why it's called Delhi6? From perceptive of taste or authenticity- seems they don't even aspire to be anything close to Delhi-6 level of cuisine. Food itself is mediocre. We ordered their speciality chaat (in picture) which was pretty much any that you could get for half the price anywhere in Abbotsford or Surrey. It was noticeably dry and had those usual Namak-para. I mean if you call yourself Delhi6 atleast try to put an effort to serve an authentic papdi. Second dish was "Goat Biryani" and 2 stars for just that! However, my pet peeve 99% of Indian restaurants is that they think of Indian food as just Mild, Medium, or Hot... which is a travesty because authentic Indian food is much much more than that. Biryani with was served with the usual tiny quantity of Dahi. (Typical of Canadian Indian joints.) We went here for a special lunch, but called it a day after these two uninspiring items, a lukewarm tea, and an uninterested service from the lone server. Also not sure why they ask for occasions on opentable bookings? It was totally irrelevent to our server. The place was peaceful and some fixtures looked great. I wouldn't recommend this place for a dine-in.

I have been going to Delhi 6 from 2-3 years now, though never took out the time to write them a review. Today I would really like to say that this place is an awesome restaurant. Seating, customer service, food quality is amazing. No restaurant in Surrey is as good as this restaurant in Vancouver. I highly recommend people to go here and try there delicious food.
