Review Jitlada Thai Restaurant - Vancouver

Operated out of a commissary kitchen so only offer takeout and delivery. Ordered online to pick up at a scheduled time. Authentic dishes with balanced flavours. Not as salty and oily as some other Thai restaurants. Portions were adequate for the two of us. Worth a try!

This is my go-to Thai restaurant when doing take-out. They make the most amazing gluten-free pad thai, so flavourful and the medium spicy is the perfect amount of spice for me. They often throw in a free rice pudding which I devour, so good!

I can’t speak for the others that gave a good rating but I did not have a great experience. Ordered delivery and was disappointed at how small the portions were. Standard takeout boxes were maybe 80% full. The signature Aroy-D curry dish was a small 375ml container (1.5 cups - I measured) and chicken was dry - will say the curry flavour was good in this dish though. Beef in pad gra Pao was dry and chewy. Rest of these items maybe a personal preference thing but vegetables were on the undercooked side, and pad thai was extremely sweet and lacking in any other flavour.

You can really tell a Thai spot's chops by how well they do their vegetarian pad thai, and Jitlada takes the cake for me. It's my favorite spot in Vancouver. Their service is also fantastic; kind and efficient staff.

I had no idea they were here! I'm glad they showed up on the map. Really enjoyed the food, good size portions and friendly! :-) Will be making more trips here for sure.

Came to Jitlada to show my friend this amazing restaurant. I've been to Jitlada before and because of the amazing service and quality food, I keep coming back with different people. Every person I've brought to this place has had great experiences with the food and service. I usually order the Cashew Nut Chicken because it has become my favourite dishes. Portions and flavours for the chicken are good and the chicken is moist. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes quality food and good service.

A very tiny and dim place. Can be loud and you can hear what other tables are talking. Good food but don't expect big portions. I ordered the Hor Mok Talay and it was tasty seafood curry. Free parking is not easy to find. We ended up parking in the neighbourhood a few blocks away.

Horrible! The food was soo sweeet!! Service was very bad! We waited a long time for everything! Even for the bills! We were a large group of 10. So service(15% i think) charge was already included. Maybe That's why we got no attention from the server! Except us there were 2 other tables taken with 3 people in total! The owner was talking to one table the entire time we were at the restaurant. Suddenly she stands in the center and screams at everyone asking if the food is ok and if we need anything!!! The only dish that was ok, was the the vegetables. The seafood curry was never came in a coconut as some pics suggested! They stopped doing it 1 year ago! The pad thai is the most disgusting dish. It was literally filled with sugar and nothing else. We couldn't even finish that! It was just soo bad! This restaurant has such good reviews everywhere. I don't understand why!!! Never going back again!

As always, this place exceeded my expectations. Such a gem and excellent value. I never thought I would ever be excited about spring rolls. And the young coconut seafood curry is to die for.

Service is the best, and the food is even better! I love coming here to get my Thai fix. Thanks Pam for such a consistently wonderful and personal experience!!

Great Thai food I'm Thai and I recommend this place!!!

The food was fantastic. Curry and beef and broccoli and coconut rice. All amazing. The staff was just the best. The most fun and welcoming staff around thank you P'Pam!

Always great Thai food but what makes this ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ is the staff. Always friendly and Pam makes you feel like family.

We went here for the first time tonight - and my only question is why haven't we been here before? It was so good - and the owner Pam is just lovely. The food is amazing - and so much better than what we had previously gotten from other places as Thai takeout. We will definitely be back - and yes, they also do takeout!

Fresh and delicious food. Amazing service. My favourite Thai restaurant outside of Thailand!

Ordered the pad kee mao and it wasn't very good. It was a lunch special so it was $11.50 but that is too much for the small portion size and quality! The noodles were gummy and stuck together in a rubbery brick, there wasn't a lot of meat, and not a lot of vegetables either. I really like basil and there were just three small basil leaves in the whole dish. The dish was bland overall and quite disappointing... I also ordered a thai iced tea which was a bit watery. Not sure why this place gets such high reviews (actually, it's all from people who haven't had much good Thai food, which is hard to come by in this city!)

The service was very friendly and reassuring from the waiter. The lady who answered my call sounded annoyed when I wanted to confirm that my order was a lunch special lol. I ordered takeout so I didn't spend much time in there but I was surprised by how fancy the decor looked even though their food is food court quality. If you would like to have a comparable experience minus the fancy decor (which I wasn't a huge fan of anyways), go to a Thai fast food place at a mall. Might be cheaper too! In fact, I really discourage anyone from eating in this area of Fairview at all since it's almost entirely expensive restaurants with mediocre food.

This is a small but very clean and sleek restaurant serving Thai food. I went there for their lunch specials, which are currently priced at $12 and are accompanied by a spring roll and a side salad. I've had their Pad Cashew Nut and Mus-A-Mun Curry. While the spring rolls are quite tasty, I found the rest of the food to be just okay, nothing to really write home about. The service was also a bit of a mixed bag: the staff are certainly quite friendly and attentive, but the wait time for your food can be quite wrong. The first time that I visited, I waited 15-20 minutes for my food, which is fairly reasonable. However, there was a table beside me that ordered before I had arrived but did not receive their food until about 10 minutes after I had received mine, meaning that they probably waited 30 minutes for their food. Overall, I can't say that I'd personally recommend this restaurant, but I won't discourage anyone from checking it out either.

Pad Cashew Nut (Chicken, $11.95)
2.5/5
This was served with rice, a spring roll, and a side salad. The spring roll was fantastic: piping hot, crispy and filled with savoury vermicilli noodles and vegetables. The salad was dressed in a sweet vinegarette, and had a slightly peppery flavour that I personally didn't like; I did however, enjoy the slices of strawberries. The rice was on the firmer side, which I actually liked. I didn't really care cashew chicken itself however. Although it's supposed to be stir-fried, it was quite watery and had no hint of caramelization. There was a decent amount of chicken; they used white meat (which is inferior to dark in my opinion) and it was reasonably tender. Although the flavour was okay, it was really nothing special and not at all memorable.

Gaeng Mus-A-Mun (Beef, $11.95):
3/5
The spring roll this time came out within about 2 minutes after I had ordered. One bite into it and I knew the reason why it came out so quickly: it had apparently been sitting out for a while and was just lukewarm. Don't get me wrong, it was still tasty, just not as good as the one that I had the day before. The salad this time contained a few slices of apple in addition to the strawberries, which I appreciated. The curry contained some potato, onion, tomatoes and beef (my choice of protein). The sauce itself was actually quite tasty: creamy, sweet with a fantastic fragrance from the coconut. Unfortunately I was less than impressed by the meat. The portion was, first of all, a bit stingy. More importantly however, the beef was a bit dry and tough, and did not have much flavour. The potatoes were also quite underseasoned. Overall, it wasn't a bad dish, but not something that I'd reorder again.

I think it is just an average thai food restaurants (compare to other places). I feel it is definitely over ranked. Not sure why, but I guess it get some customers from around. :( I went there for dinner, there were only three tables of customers...........

Great food and cozy atmosphere. Smooth flavours and textures, high quality chicken meat on the plate.
The service is just alright. I found it a bit aggressive and awkward with jokes (I've been there three times and always served by the same woman). It would be nice if that were toned down a bit.

We went there for lunch, dropping in while shopping in the area. It was a very nice break. The restaurant felt clean, warm and relaxing. The service was very attentive and accommodating. The prices were very reasonable and serving sizes were perfect. The food was delicious and exceeded expectations. Presentation was very appetizing (see picture). It's a great choice for a meal and social meet-up. We'll surely be back to explore more of the menu.

We were in this neighbourhood after work, so we searched what was good here. We found this Thai restaurant with high rating and reviews, so we decided to come here for dinner.

When we walked into the restaurant, surprisingly there was only one table with two Japanese ladies. We thought there would be a lot of customers. The server (who was probably the owner of the restaurant) greeted us and said that it must be our first time to come here for dinner. Of course we said yes! We could grab any tables that we wanted. The server was very friendly and gave us a menu.

One of us ate something earlier, so we did not order too much. We ordered Jitlada fried rice with pork and Gaeng Daeng (curry) with chicken. We did not bother ordering a bowl of rice. We just ate Gaeng Daeng by itself. Both dishes of food tasted wonderful! The only thing we didn't like was the portion especially the dish of fried rice was very small. It gave me an impression of an high end Asian restaurant. The fried rice cost $14. Gaeng Daeng cost $16 without rice. We could have ordered the same curry dish in other neighbourhoods but it would come with rice.

The interior of the restaurant was very well designed. All the colours and decorations matched very well. The location of the restaurant is in Vancouver west. That's why the food cost more overall.

My conclusion is that if you wouldn't mind to pay a little more for smaller portions of the food, sure come try this restaurant and enjoy good environment, good interior design and good quality of food.

This is the best traditional Thai restaurant in the city. Very excellent quality food. Owner is a character and will remember you. Best traditional soup in the city. Lunch deal is amazing value for quality Thai.

The owner is fantastic, so sweet and charming. The food is very good. I feel like the prices are a little high and on top of the dish you have to pay for a side of rice which adds to the cost.
Nom.nom.nom.
The owner picks her ingredients fresh the morning of! Spring rolls are a must try and my go to dish is the green curry with chicken. Their thai ice tea is good but really really sweet (try dd mau for better ones)! Friendly service but you might have to wait for your food if it's super busy
Domo Is Craving...
I came here for lunch with my colleague because she was raving how good the food was. We searched up online for their menu to order in advance so we were able to eat our food right when we got there. Initially we were going to get it to go but we changed our minds and decided to sit in. For lunch, they have a lunch special, where every dish is for $11.50 and it comes with homemade salad & spring rolls. You can check out their lunch menu HERE.

I’ve been wanting to try Jitlada for a very long time… but, for whatever reason, we haven’t been able to find the time. We managed to finally drop by for a visit one evening in June and found that the place wasn’t too busy. We started out with a couple of Guava Juices – these drinks were nice and refreshing on a hot evening.

Best Thai food here in Vancouver! The taste is spot on speaking from somebody who is born and raised in Thailand. The service, especially from the Owner Pam, is amazing. She makes me feel right at home and is so kind and generous. She gave my friend and I a free dessert once which was a very nice gesture. Can't wait to go back!
Every Day Is A Food Day
The lunch menu is quite simple with all items for $10.95. Most items come with spring rolls, salad, and rice. The Spring Rolls arrived, and they were plated nicely with a side of dipping sauce. They were piping hot and had a generous amount of cabbage and cellophane noodles as filling. The wrapper was light and crispy. E got the Pad Kee Mao , which they describe as drunken noodles. You can choose your meat, and she went for the chicken. It’s essentially stir-fried rice noodles and it’s seasoned with Thai basil leaves, onions and bell peppers. She said it was pretty good. Gaeng Daeng For myself, I got the Gaeng Daeng , which is red curry, and I chose the chicken for my meat. The curry is seasoned with fresh basil, bamboo shoots, red chili paste and coconut milk. You get a huge scoop of rice, and a pretty good salad filled with fruits and a light dressing. The curry itself had a good spice to it, but I didn’t think it was too special. Just average. It could have been more flavourful. Overall, the portions are great for lunch and fairly priced for the Broadway location. Service is a bit slow during the lunch hour, but they manage to get you out within the hour lunch. Pros: – Friendly service – Reasonable prices Cons: – Curry was just average Price Range: $10-15 1: Terrible 2: Poor 3: Average 4: Good 5: Excellent Food: 3 Service: 3 Ambiance: 3 Parking: 3 Overall: 3

Favourite Thai Restaurant. I love this restaurant - the food is great, the service is prompt and everyone is really friendly. They work around food allergies and preferences with a smile and always go the extra mile. Highly recommended.

Great authentic Thai food. Best Thai food my family and I have had in the city. Would highly recommend the deep fried whole ocean perch - crispy fresh fish with a tangy, fruity sauce. The seafood curry is also wonderful. It's served in a coconut shell and comes with tender coconut meat in the curry. Pam always makes us feel welcome and provides wonderful service. Quiet, comfortable space.

Great Thai food. Great service. The owner is delightful and remembers everyone - even from 10 years ago at Montri. Love having this place in the hood!

I've only had the soup but I had tom yum at three different places last week and theirs was by far the tastiest. I will definitely be back for more!

Wow wow wow. Jitlada is now home. The presentation of their offerings are as pleasing to the eye as they are to the palate. A marvelous combination of tastes and textures not found elsewhere. Occasionally, Pam ( the warm and talented owner) will have a new creation that is not on the menu. Again, Jitlada can become a marvelous addiction. Well worth dining there again, and again.

Don Lamb

Excellent. Lovely atmosphere, service is perfect and the food is amazing. Best Thai in Vancouver. Great location at broadway near Granville. I highly recommend and have been back to impress my foodie friends.

Great authentic Thai cuisine. The owner is a very sweet lady with great customer service skills.

Great Food/Great Staff. My husband and I have been following Pam and Sopa around for years. First we met them at the old Sala Thai on Cambie, then followed them to Montri's and now Jitlada. Our meal there last week was superb. They deserve to find a customer base that will allow them to keep on creating this great food.

The food is fresh and lively with the wonderful balance of spices that makes great Thai food such a pleasure. So many Thai restaurants dumb down the food for Vancouverites- too much sugar and ketchup, too little of the real stuff.
It is such a treat to find a restaurant with so much respect for sophistication of the customer's palate.

Authentic Flavours - Very good Thai Food. One of the better Thai restaurants in town. Authentic and bold flavours. Highly recommend the Tom Yum Goon soup which is a combination of sweet, spicy, salty, sour. Green curry beef and Panang Chicken great flavours goes perfectly with steamed rice. Ask for the Thai Iced Milk tea which is not on the menu. Very clean restaurant although decor is not very "Thai" inspired. Owner and staff very warm & friendly. Highly recommended.

Searching for good Thai in Vancouver has been tough. Maenam is close but fusion doesn't hit a home run with me. Nothing quite matched Thai available in Calgary until I tried Jitlada. That have nailed it. I will be back. This is on par with the Calgary trifecta: chili club Thai, Kimg and I, Thai Sa-on. You will like this place!

Excellent Thai Food.. My boyfriend and I ate here on a weekday and have to say the food was exceptional. We ordered the vegetarian padthai and green curry for mains (springrolls for appetizer). The service was fantastic. Food came quickly. The lady that served us was super nice and the decor was lovely. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Excellent service and authentic food. My boyfriend and I randomly ended up here and I'm so happy we did! First, the wine list is great, especially for a Thai restaurant. We got a bottle of Joie Riesling for $35...Pretty fantastic considering you pay about $25 at a liquor store. The woman serving us was wonderful, as was the food. I would be back once a week if we still lived in the area!

Thai food gem!. We went to Jitlada for dinner and were so happy to find a new place for thai food in Vancouver! I loved the decor, it is new, clean and modern but still had an ethnic vibe. The room is small but that just adds to the cozy, warm feel. The service was very friendly and personal and the food was amazing. It has only been open for a month or so and we will definitely become regulars!

The Return of GREAT Thai food to Vancouver!!. My partner and I were long-time customers of Montri's Restaurant on West Broadway until it closed about a year and a half ago. What a disappointing day THAT was! Since then we've tried other Thai places in the city but nothing compared. Actually, nothing even came close to the quality that we had come to know at Montri's. Long before it closed, two business partners had purchased the restaurant from Montri and had done a wonderful job with it. The food continued to be fantastic and the service level increased dramatically. One of the owners, Pam, has just opened Jitlada and my partner and I went for the first time a few nights ago. Wow, it was fantastic! My partner said "we're home". Everything was just like it was at Montri's including the fantastic hot sauce! Each dish was plentiful and delicious. The food quality is superb. As had been the case at Montri's, the produce was very fresh and the ingredients overall are of the highest quality. The pad thai was fantastic! Overall, the prices are very reasonable.

Jitlada is at the site of the former CRU restaurant (West Broadway right by Granville, across from Jordans Interiors). Pam has done a great job with the interior design. It has a very fresh, modern feel and the tables are comfortably spaced apart from each other. The service is cheerful and efficient (your water glass will never go empty for long).

We are thrilled that Pam is back in the Thai food business as the sole proprietor of this fantastic new restaurant. Vancouver has numerous Thai restaurants but we've found many to be mediocre at best.

It's not a big place and once people become aware of it AND addicted to it as we are, reservations will definitely be required.

ขอให้เจริญอาหาร! (I think that's "bon apetit" in Thai)

PS Since posting this, "gayaa" has posted saying "very disappointed, don't go". I looked at gayaa's five other reviews for other restaurants. Guess what? Every single one is rated as "doesn't like it". I don't think "gayaa" likes any restaurants, period. Jitlada's pad thai is fantastic, just as it was when made at Montri's. It's as good as it gets.

Overall, we had a satisfying dinner. A quaint Thai restaurant that boast authentic dishes and scrumptious options. Prices are typical and the pad thai is a little weak but overall, Jitlada offers a good experience.

At the old home of "Cru" now resides "Jitlada", a modern Thai restaurant, with traditional flavours. I called in a take out order, so was surprised how great the place looked when I came in to pick it up. It was empty now at a quarter past 5pm, the start of their dinner service. When full, I am certain the guests like where they are sitting. With a plain undecorated doorway and unsigned windows you may miss this place; except that you trip over the white sandwich board, printed on with black narrow font. Shame if you did, as once you get past the wall of a partition you can truly see how nice "Jitlada" looks. A view not visible from the door way, which may be a reason for less customers dining in. If can see in, how do you know you want to come in? The first thing that greets you is the most beautiful gold jeweled pedestal. On it sits a clear glass bowl. And in that floats a delicate, hand crafted purple lotus flower. It shines as it is back lit by a green spot light. Everything is u

Jitlada, a fairly new Thai Restaurant on Broadway. Their lunch and dinner menu are not very tempting to us but when we saw the signature menu, we were happy that we have tried Jitlada. Thai Milk Tea Trust me, Thai milk tea is becoming a new trend. We can see it at more and more places and it actually tastes good. Golden Angel Wings Stuffed chicken wings are quite common in Thai restaurants in Vancouver. However, it’s the best we have tried so far. The stuffings are firm and full. Pork, shrimps, carrots and glass noodles, etc. Both the display and the taste are satisfying. Gai Hor Bai Toey It’s not bad. Neither tender nor tough. Hor Mok Talay It’s a must try! it’s rarely seen in most Thai menu here and when it appears on menu, they just use a coconut shell to pretend it’s hor mok most of the time. Jitlada’s Hor Mok Talay is authentic, however. Very yummy and nice. Deep Fried Banana with Vanilla Ice Cream Freshly made. Not bad. Overall, Jitlada is pretty impressive. We love the chic

This little Thai restaurant is a hidden gem. I know I am a little late at posting this review, but better late than never! We came here on a lovely Thursday night to celebrate one of my favourite co-workers birthday. She really wanted some good Thai food, so A recommended Jitlada Thai located in West Broadway. It's a cozy little restaurant with very charming staff. We were greeted right away and this elegant lady in a beautiful floral dress handed us our menus. We ordered a round of Thai ice tea and Mango juice. I absolutely adore their Thai ice tea! Refreshing and it hit the spot after a long day at work. We ordered some appetizers to share. The spring rolls and the chicken satay were amazing, highly recommend it. We also ordered their boneless stuffed chicken wings , which were a little unexpected, the flavour was very good, but I personally didn't like the texture, I think if the chicken wing itself was crispy or deep-friend it would have been tastier. We also had the
