Review Kirin Seafood Restaurant - Vancouver

Must call-in before for a reservation to get seating. Seafood dim sum is fresh and tasty. Validate your parking ticket for the underground parking structure. Service is fast and waiters know English so don’t let the Cantonese hold you back from eating here.

Another great place to get dim sum. Some dishes are very authentic and hard to see at other Chinese restaurants. The service is fast, the waiters are nice, and the portions are large for the price. The space is large to accommodate many customers, but get a reservation none the less to ensure a seat, because it gets busy.

Pricey restaurant for dim sum but they also serve regular Chinese foods. Some normal dim sum, tasted good and fresh. Names of dishes in English is extravagant and sounded very high class but normal food wise. Beef balls were done well but the taste was overwhelmed by the veggies and spices. Shrimp dumplings were good. "Har cheung" were good and I like that they don't splash the sauce over it and provided the sauce on the side. Beef tendon was well done but too overwhelming in taste. The seafood "yee meen" (noodles) was ok, very little noodles and decent amount of seafood. Place was crowded on weekend so get there early if you can. Try making reservations. They did not pick up the phone when I called to make reservation.

Dim Sum is done well at this location. Kirin aims at a fancier audience reflected in its pricing. A good way to tell quality dim sum is in the signature Siu Mai (pork dumpling). Kirin uses high quality knife cut pork rather than ground pork which gives it flavour and texture while maintaining juiciness. You will also find certain seasonal dishes as well as some older recipes prepared here.

Good quality dim sum for a price. People come to Kirin for consistency, quality and service, you don't really come for innovation, and new tastes on the edge of the food spectrum. The town hall location has a nice open edge view of city hall and is a comfortable location to sit and chat while enjoying dimsim. Food comes relatively quick and is freshly made, with craftmenship above the norm. The wrapping and layers are thin, but bouncy, without being chewy. Only concern is the menu changes very slowly and does not rotate much, so if you come often, it becomes well crafted; but monotonous. Dinner is different, and Kirin caters primarily more to banquet style dinners with that type of dishes being provided at the forefront. Classics and all the variations are available for order and are well crafted with the expected flavor profiles and textures. You come to Kirin for consistency and the expected, and in this Kirin performs exceptionally and is at the forefront for Vancouver in banquet and DimSum service

Slow/non-existent service. Food came out at a decent pace allowing you to enjoy the bustle of the place and catch up with the latest gossip. Place did get packed, so try and make a reservation if possible or arrive when the door opens.

Not coming back here. We ordered in advance, we sat down at 6:45, had the quail dish and now it's an hour later, 7:50 and no other dish had arrived. We're basically watching other tables get 4-5 dishes whereas we've gotten 0. We're not here to watch other people eat. No one has come by to say anything to us. We finally managed to flag a guy down and all he says is, "coming" and leaves. Seriously. Don't come here.

High end Cantonese restaurant, during lunch time serves dim sum. The food was good, the waiters were efficient, the only thing is that the recepcionist/hostess is a little bit rude, with a long line of clients waiting. Always busy, make sure you have reservation!
