Review Hubbub - Vancouver

I have been a big fan of Hubbub salad since 2018 and came often. But very disappointed about recent experiences, got Chicken Breast salad to go, found a BLACK FEATHER inside the salad… ridiculous food hygiene control. Radish and grape tomato are not fresh…

Fresh bread and ingredients. This is a upgraded subway sand which. I got the tuna sand which and found it incredibly tasty. What i love is that there are chunks of REAL tuna in there. Price is also decent. Loved it!

Pretty grossed out just ordered a sandwhich and opened it at home find a long brown hair wrapped in my lettuce. Called to let them know and he said sorry and to let them know next time I am in? Wasn't going to ask for my name or phone number or to contact me, or a manager until I asked to speak to manager. Apparently he didn't know his email for me to contact them? Never heard from them or tried to fix this. Brutal service and I will not be back.

Delicious sandwich and salad. Very friendly staff. I definitely recommend this.

Super filling sandwich. One of a kind pulled pork. Sandwiches are now 15 dollars though which is a lot more tha the original 10. Hope they thrive again and wonder if the price will ever come back down.

Such a great place to pick up lunch! Best quinoa salad I’ve ever had. The also sell a great brand of iced tea there! Super friendly staff, to top it all off!

This place USED to be great! Great value and great quality, but since recent menu changes - which included price hikes - the quality for value has crashed. This is my third and last time visiting after the menu changes and I will not be going back not recommending it any longer to f&f. I ordered the bowl: $2.50 extra for rotten avocado topped with past due date cilantro. The rice was also dried out and hard in the unpleasant kinda way.... Don’t waste your money!
zackary mcleod
It's okay. Interesting options for protein and flavours in the sandwich, and the sauce is tasty. Feel like the portions aren't worth the price and the ratio of ingredients just isn't quite right. Wasn't terrible but won't be coming back.

Grabbed the pulled pork salad to go. As I was waiting for the food to be assembled, noticed a considerable buildup of dust and dirt on the ceiling which was a huge turn off. Please take some time to clean. Food was good and will be back.

Got the pulled pork sandwich today and the bread seems to have changed or degraded to something you just chew on because it is there. Did something change? If so, please bring back the better bread.
DW Sturley
Good food. Unfortunately the restaurant is dirty everywhere. Tables, floors and worse the glasses we were handed were scummy. Clean up! Your food is really good.

Everyone told me the pulled pork sandwich was amazing and the must get so i ordered that one, it was pretty good but i have definitely had better sandwiches. Hubbub is conveniently located around vancouver though so it would be an easy place to grab lunch

Came here with a friend and ordered the bowl of salad with pull pork. He ordered a bowl of salad also. We both didn't like the salad at all. Hardly any dressing on the salad at all. Pull pork is on the dry side and hardly any flavour. The portion is quite generous but we both didn't finish our salad and we didn't bother to take the leftovers. It's a busy and small restaurant. I don't think I'll go back there.
Jocelynwong
Relatively large sandwiches at pretty good value. The baguettes are the perfect texture and taste and for the fillings perfectly. I normally get the pulled pork and love the flavour. Their salads are also bomb af.
Michael
Very delicious sandwiches. The bread is a perfect baguette; crunchy on the outside with a soft interior. The veggie sandwich is a good combination of creamy and spicy and is loaded with veggies. Fun for lunch for sure.
GeoffSetter
Great soups, and if veggie chili is on the daily list- order it! Best $4 bowl ever. The veggie sandwich is very messy and spicy. At $9, it is OK. Cole slaw is excellent and highly recommended!
Bare bones industrial decor with retro rock that is almost loud enough to inhibit conversation. Service prompt. Licensed for beer. Free Wifi. Frequent diner card. Cards accepted.

Hubbub Sandwiches Vancouver newest holiday special includes Turkey Sandwiches and Turkey Salads. Twice a year is when this delicious duo appear - Christmas and Thanksgiving. Hubbub Sandwiches and Salad Bliss has three convenient locations: Robson, Hornby and Cambie Street.

We really like the Cambie store space. The bright lights, white walls and sharp reds. The space is created by the same interior design firm Evoke International Design. First thing we noticed was the similarities to Commune Cafe. Evoke International Design also created the charming spaces at Heirloom, Hawksworth Bel Cafe, The Union, Forage Restaurant, Temper Chocolate & Pastry to name a few.

Before Hubbub was Hubbub, Stefan Holm and Ben Thornhill planned to open a sports bar in Vancouver. Lucky for us, that plan never materialized. Instead they opened this boutique sandwich and salad shop with the guidance of Holm's father (Wayne Holm created the Spectra Group of Great Restaurants and led Cara Operations Ltd.).

Hubbub's menu is simple but offers a healthy delicious alternative for quick meals. Five proteins on a bun or salad between $8 to $10: pulled pork, turkey sausage, chicken breast, veggie or prawns. Add a sidekick like Clean Slaw or soup of the day to complete your meal.

Hubbub uses local ingredients whenever possible like Two Rivers Specialty Meat, and Oyama Sausage Co. All their proteins are gluten-free. Celiacs can rest easy. Breds are made fresh daily without chemicals or preservatives. All of their dressings, sauces and marinades from scratch. Hubbub even uses Postmark Brewing beer to marinade the meat!

Holiday Turkey Sandwich 9.99: Oven roasted beer pulled Turkey, onion sage pressed stuffing, cranberry sauce, mayo and arugula. This hearty sandwich is filling and makes for healthy alternative to a cheeseburger!

Soup of the day was one of my favorites Butternut Squash Coconut!

Dear Hubbub,

You do good with your sandwiches but compared to Meat & Bread, you come second. Why you ask? I've visited you a handful of times and you have been the same, which is good. Consistency is the biggest thing in restaurants. The only thing is the bread is pretty dense. It is quite the chew after a while. Is it supposed to be like banh mi baguette where is flaky and crunchy on the crust yet soft and pillow like on the inside? Or is it supposed to be a different animal all together? I like how there are specials. I like how there are onions and jalapenos but between sandwiches, the differentiation between them are small, protein and sauce changes... That's about it. I mean I understand that the vegetables are all the same to keep food costs consistent or so you can double or triple up so it doesnt make each sandwich individually more expensive... But, I know you can make it next level by adding a hail mary vegetable or component (like roasted garlic in your chicken breast?) or something like that. I know its fast, but at least at Meat & Bread its fast yet memorable. I do like how you offer Root Beer because I'm a sucker for that stuff.

10/10 Veggie Salad. It's a warm curry-ratatouille on crispy romaine lettuce and superb salad dressing. I get this for lunch every Monday. Today I added the quinoa side-kick for extra protein and it was awesome.

I also love the fact that Hubbub was is owned an operated by two local guys. Supporting local businesses is what will keep Vancouver special and unique.

Thanks Hubbub for the fresh, high-quality healthy fast-food!

Went here on a night, it was quite hard to find for me as i'm not really familiar to this place, but the review was great so i was destined to definitely find the place and it's actually quite easy to find if i'm looking heads up to the names of the stores instead of the eye level indicators.

so what i had is the prawn sandwhich I'll say it's good definitely it's one of those food where it's good enough that you can eat 2 times a day for 3 days straight and have no complain about it, because the taste is just refreshing and light enough that it still keeps the specific shrimp/prawn sandwhich in the top notch level.

had the quinoa salad, it was okay, as i'm more accustomed of not eating salad but this one is definitely okay.

the price of the who meal is still a lot more than what I would like it to be though, spend around 12-15 bucks if i'm not mistaken. but neverthe less the taste is good just not the price for me for a sandwhich combo :(

Just had my first Hubbub - what am awesome pulled pork salad!!! Oh and I became a food critic at the same time, nice!!!! I will be back Hubbub, mark my words!!
Everything But Weddings
My favourite Hubbub sandwich is the prawn sandwich. They aren't stingy with the prawns, the bread is fresh, and everything just ties well together. I know they recommend that you don't change anything about the sandwich but they always take out the cilantro and jalapeño out when I ask them to (and it still tastes good). Transform the prawn sandwich into a salad and it was also pretty tasty. I've tried their online ordering service as well and it works wonders. I just placed my order online and pick it up... it was very easy.

Surprise, more sandwiches! With the weather in Vancouver getting better everyday, I find myself walking or running home after work a lot more often than usual. Some days though I end up having to work late which means I get too hungry before I have the opportunity to go home, so I’ve been slowly stopping by places on the trek home. One place that’s caught my eye a number of times is Hubbub, a cool little sandwich shop along Hornby. A friend first told me about this place a little while back and said while they make great sandwiches, they don’t take too kindly to requests to modify the sandwich. Apparently he asked them not to put jalapenos in the sandwich and they gave him the stink-eye and refused to do it. He ordered it anyway and just picked it out himself after the fact. I’m not sure why, but this made me want to try them even more. When you first walk in you see benches along the wall and a sign on the wall mentioning three simple steps. Step 1, pick a protein. There’s a number of options including chicken breast, turkey sausage, pulled pork, prawn and of course vegetarian. I decided to go with the Turkey Sausage since I’d already had both chicken and pork earlier in the day. Step 2, don’t mess with the sandwich, something my friend already warned me about. Thankfully there wasn’t anything in the sandwich that I disliked so I followed this rule. Interestingly enough the ingredients don’t change depending on the proteins so the only difference you’ll ever see in sandwiches there is the meat. 3. Keep it tidy by tearing the paper one third at a time. As a bonus step, they also mention the possibility of adding a sidekick which can either be a soup, salad, potato chips or cookies. Unfortunately there weren’t any cookies left over at the end of the day so this tells me they must be pre

Great Pulled Pork Sandwich, a little spicy with the perfect amount of sauce and great toppings and fresh bread

Sandwiches are amazing here! I've tried every flavour. I wish there would be a special flavour that would rotate though as I would like to try something new.

Paseos?. These guys have obviously been to Paseo's in Seattle
but Paseo...blows them out of the water

Hell of a sandwich!. I dropped by this place to kill some time before watching a movie. Its an unassuming little place, pretty easy to miss, but I'm glad I didn't! I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it tasty fantastic. My friend wasn't hungry but tried a bite and ended up eating half of it. Damn. Would definitely go back if I'm in the area.
Also, the warm but industrial decor is great!

One of the best pulled pork sandwiches!. Pulled pork sandwich is awesome. It is incredibly tasty, but also spicy. A must for anyone that enjoys flavourful food. Also very economical at under $10 for a large sandwich. Lots of meat and fresh bread.

What a bunch of goofs!!. Read the reviews here and thought it was just the place to order a few dozen sandwiches for the meeting I was hosting on Monday. Called Saturday to try and make the order. Kid who answers says he will have their catering department call me "right back". Three hours later - nothing. I call again and the kid apologizes, says he told them, but will try again. Two hours after that I get a call from some bozoo who says the catering department is closed on the weekend and they'll call me Monday morning. By now I know these people are amateur screwups and there is no way I will trust them with a business luncheon that close to deadline.

My Favorite Sandwich Shop!. This is with out a doubt a great place to grab a sandwich for lunch. The staff are so friendly and the food is finer than fine. The griiled chicken salad is so tender and juicy! come on sandwich, it doesn't get any better--this place has always rocked.

Please give this place a try you will love it ---I have never taken anyone who had not enjoyed the experience.!

Do one thing well. I am a huge fan of Hubbub- the sandwiches are really good, very filling, and not at all easily replicated at home. Don't mess with them, the ingredients are brilliantly balanced (and there's something special about the pickled jalepenos and garlic spread...). Also don't attempt to eat a sandwich without lots of napkins or without protecting yourself- it can get messy (in the best possible way).

The clean slaw gets a thumbs up too- cilantro, coconut milk & lime. It's good and works with the sandwiches.
Hamtaro
Meh. That's right, I said it, "meh".

I admit, the sandwiches aren't bad, but they are nowhere near great. For the price, I'd rather walk down a few blocks and get a cheesesteak from The Great American Cheesesteak Co.
Jujube Aliscious
Pork sanwhich was pretty awesome. meat was very tasty and the pickled jalepenos give a nice kick. bread was perfect and not hard at all. would love to go back and try other meats :)

Delicious!. Stopped by for the first time today. Turkey chorizo sandwich with a side of clean slaw. The slaw was tasty, but the sandwich was TO DIE FOR! Probably the best sandwich I've had in Vancouver. I was skeptical at the pickled jalepenos, but I didn't mess with the sandwich and I don't regret it one bit. This is definitely added to my go-tos at lunchtime.
Smilie604
What's in there?. *
Overall Rating (Out of 5-♥): ♥♥♥♥
Serious, what is in the sandwich? I'm not normally a jalapeño or garlic person but I've made an exception. The delicious turkey sausage, caramelized onions, and toasted baguette was just the perfect combo for me! Mmm..mm...m! Just choose your protein and you're all set. Can't wait to go back.

Pork Sandwich-The BEST !!. I just ate the best Pork Sandwich I have ever had - had lunch there and just ordered the Pork as my protein. It really was fantastic - first time there but not my last for sure. Sandwich had pork, onion, jalapenos and other delicious stuff.

Delicious Pulled Pork Sandwich. I love Hubbub's concept. A few sandwiches done really REALLY well. The last time I went I had their pulled pork sandwich - which was absolutely delicious. I paired it with their corn on the cob - which was unique, but not something I'd order again. I've also had their quinoa salad and it was good - but the portion was pretty skimpy.

All in all I'd recommend trying Hubbub's.

Nice little sandwich joint. Had a really tasty chicken sandwich and the slaw, both were exceptional. Will be frequenting this little place quite often.

Filling and Tasty. Absolutely loved the Clean Slaw. So far I've tried out the Pork and the Chicken Sandwich. Both great. Lots of interesting Sidekicks. I'll be definitely back!

I like the simplicity of the restaurant. The service staff was really friendly and helpful. I tried their chicken sandwich which I found to be average. Sadly they ran out of shrimp sandwich so I had to settle for my second choice. I like the ingredient in the sandwiches, but I find it hard and messy to eat because it's not cut to smaller pieces. The bun was not very good and found it to be tough/hard. I do not recommend eating while walking. I will give this place another try in the near future. Price is average with a cost of about $9 Overall experience: thumbs down

Delicious.. Loved it! can't recommend it enough. awesome décor and friendly service. the most important thing however is the sandwich. Awesome! The best i have had in all Vancouver, and i have been all over.

I had the Chicken Breast, and it was served hot, with mild spice and the chicken was perfect (not dry in the slightest).
Will be heading back for sure.

Best sandwich ever. GO there. EAT. No complaints only massive compliments! Pork Should sandwich was great. SIDEs are awesome. Great dedication to making the best quality and tasting sandwiches!
This Little Oinky
Though the baguette lacked a soft interior, it still was very fresh, chewy on the exterior and was served warm and toasty. The 24 hr-marinated and slow roasted pork was spicy and tender. I really liked the spices inherent in the pulled pork - it really gave the sandwich that zing! The Veggie sandwich comprised of diced red peppers, eggplant and squash in a chili-lime marinade. It was good, though not outstanding.
Hubbub is a somewhat small sandwich place located in the core of Downtown Vancouver. It is a tiny little restaurant that specializes in sandwiches, with the claim of the perfect sandwich combo and layering and all you need to pick is the protein for the sandwich. They offer a few different types of protein you can choose from from pork to prawns.
J At Vanbrosia.com
... prawns cooked well, decent amt and decent flavor, but baguette simply too thick to balance out the lightness of the shrimp; it was a 70% bread, 30% shrimp sandwich...
J At Vanbrosia.com
...not bad; for a turkey sausage, surprisingly juicy; not as much meat in the sandwich as the pork though; hint of spiciness
MISS VANCOUVER PIGGY
… small sandwich shop with limited seating, most likely not an issue since most of their cliental probably grabs food to go. The sandwich shop is very welcoming with friendly staff and information about their sandwiches around the restaurant. The menu is very straight forward and states the ingredients in every sandwich. For a "healthier" alternative, salads are available rather than a baguette. Baguettes are toasted, then smeared with creamy garlic sauce, cilantro, and pickled jalapeños before the customers choice of sandwich is prepared. We came in around 11:00am and the shop was empty, but by the time we left there were about four to six customers. Apparently Hubbub gets busy during lunch time, as in line ups out the door. Although they have some interesting sandwich combinations that are pretty tasty, I find that the steeper price, without the addition of something like salad or soup, kind of unjustified.

I’ve tried the clean slaw, potato chips, quinoa salad and sometimes order the soup of the day. I like the clean slaw and the quinoa salad.
Justamorsel
Good for sandwiches (their portions are pretty big, I was stuffed by the time I was done) but not somewhere I would revisit and make a staple.
Fiopo
In theory, the chewy bread, the crunchy onions, spicy jalapeños, zesty garlic sauce, and aromatic cilantros should’ve combined with the different protein components to create enjoyably complex contrasts of flavours and textures. In practice, however, the individual deficiencies of the various parts were amplified when combined together. The bread felt chewier, the sauce tasted too much like mayo, the onions had flavours that were too indistinct, and the leaf of romaine was too annoyingly wide to fit neatly in my mouth.
Every Day Is A Food Day
their concept is that there is "the sandwich" and then your "protein." So basically, every sandwich starts off with the same base: pickled jalapenos, creamy garlic sauce, romaine lettuce, cilantro, and crunchy caramelized onions on top of a toasty baguette. And then you choose your protein, which

Looking for the perfect pull pork sandwich? Look no further! Hubbub Sandwiches has the best pull pork sandwich I have ever had :) It is a new restaurant located close to the Scotia movie theatre in downtown. My boyfriend and I wanted to eat a simple meal before heading to the movies, so this place was just perfect! In addition, I got a $5 for $10 deal from Groupon, which was a nice bonus :)

It does take a short wait because they make it fresh and on the spot

It was a Weds night and fresh off reading the book, TMc and I heading to the Scotiabank theatre downtown to watch T he Hunger Games . We arrived a bit early so we had time to grab a bite to eat. I'm not one to just have movie popcorn for dinner, so we did a quick walk of the neighbourhood to assess our options and I was pumped when we discovered Hubbub Sandwich Bliss right around the corner. Being the sandwich fiend that I am, I had read a lot of great reviews and I've been wanting to try them since they opened last year. I didn't know they were open until 8pm...I thought it was lunch only! I love the decor in the restaurant. The design is clean and hip with wood and tile, booths on both side, bar seating and some stools, and some chalkboards, funky industrial office lamps and jars of hot peppers. There are five sandwiches on the menu to choose from but essentially the sandwich remains the same for all of them, it's just the "protein" that changes. The sandwiches are on a 9.5 inch ligh

I did not enjoy the sandwiches at Hubbub and find it a little pricey for a lunch sandwich.
CreamyBlue
The pork I thought was a bit dry but the onion was very complete as a piece. I like how there's a bit of veggie in this - otherwise I would have been overloaded with meat. The sauce was quite tasty and the baguette was a bit chewy. It certainly has a different flavour than Re-Up. Clean Slaw - 5

The quest to find the ultimate sandwich has resulted in a search through town for the best and tastiest. A few months back while walking back from the courthouse I discovered Hubbub Sandwiches : A small sandwich shop located conveniently for my sake across from the courthouse. It was love at first bite. Their sandwiches are each made with detail and love. You can feel it in every bite. I have only tried the turkey sausage and pulled pork which I love equally. However, the turkey sausage has carved a special place in my heart...or rather stomach. The sausage is made locally and tastes extremely fresh with the right amount of herbs and spices for that extra punch. The bread made in house is chewy and ever so delicious. Each sandwich comes with a long strip of onion and a delicious messy sauce. I am a big fan of adding chips to my sandwiches so you can imagine how delighted I was to find out that you have the option of ordering a side of house made chips, corn cob, quinoa salad or colesla

The bread looked amazing – lightly crispy on the outside with a nice soft doughiness on the inside. Fantastic colour and perfect thickness for holding everything together.

If you’re looking for a sandwich place downtown Vancouver, may I suggest to you Hubbub. Their concept is a simple one: fresh baguettes, romaine lettuce, onions, cilantro, a few jalapeno peppers, and your choice of meats. I wouldn’t call Hubbub a gourmet sandwich restaurant, but the simplicity to their recipe does have some allure. Good food doesn’t have to be complicated. I was introduced to this restaurant by @yvrbcbro who encouraged me to try the pork sandwich. The pork is marinated for 24 hours and slow roasted. It was very juicy, and for that I was grateful for the baguette, as the bread did a very good job of absorbing all the juice. The sandwich also has Hubbub special secret sauce. Not sure what’s in it, but I could definitely taste garlic. One more thing about their sandwiches: These are MAN-sized beasts! I could’ve easily made two meals out of mine, but I was hungry. We also tried the turkey sausage – free range sausage, lightly spiced, made by locals. It was really good! But

Hubbub Sandwiches is located close to the Vancouver Art Gallery and they serve up Sandwiches and salads. It’s quite popular during the lunch hour for people working in the area. I myself have gone a few times with friends and coworkers to grab a quick meal or get takeout.
FOOD FOR BUDDHA
The meat was very tender and flavorful. While most of the grease had seeped into the bread, it didn't have the heavy "gross" feeling from the fat.
There Is Always Room
I love the decor of the restaurant. Their design really appeals to my aesthetic being clean and hip
VanFoodies
The place is comfortable and cute, with white walls, dimmed lighting, colourful chairs, and a large photo print of Lego men on canvas. The kind of place where you won’t make a fool of yourself trying to pronounce ridiculous item names and could probably impress your friends by knowing that such a place exists downtown.

Yesterday morning I woke up to a message from a friend who raved about these sandwiches that he had tried the night before, and that I must go and try them myself. I happened to be in the Hubbub Sandwiches hood yesterday, so I decided to go there for lunch. This sandwich joint is super new. The decore was simple, modern, and fun. They also had really good taste in music, I already liked the place before I tried the sandwiches. The sandwich my friend loved was the Veggie sandwich, and the sandwich the cashier recommended was the Pork sandwich, my friend and I got one of each with a side of Clean Slaw and Creamy Corn . The first bite of the veggie sandwich was pretty amazing. It has roasted red peppers, eggplant, and zucchini. I could really taste the sweetness from the roasted vegetables, and the sauce added really nice spiciness to the sandwich. By this point I was pretty excited, I was having a hard time deciding if I should try the clean slaw or

The pork sandwich is seriously the highlight here. The rest of the menu is good and some things were okay, but gimme the pork!

After walking around for a bit deciding where to eat, we found ourselves at the charming Hubbub Sandwiches.

These sandwiches are goooood so I’d definitely stop in for a quick bite if I was in the area. I particularly like the chicken breast sandwich but the prawns are great too.

What's all the Hubbub, Bub? Well, if you make your way onto Hornby street just a block away from Robson, that Hubbub is sandwiches. The abandoned sports bar project turned sandwich shop dishes out torpedo like packages of protein, carb and veggies in a well manicured operation.
