Review Tap & Barrel - Bridges - Vancouver

It's a beautiful experience! So pretty to sit on the porch looking at the boats and bridge! 🌉 Food on the other hand was not good. Shame! Mussels and fries were good, beautifully cooked, but wild salmon tasted weird, not like a salmon at all (couple of tables down, other couple also send salmon dish away). Waitress was very nice and friendly, she recommended to change the dish, so we ordered mushrooms and truffle pasta, or something like that. My steak dish was alright, asked for medium rare, but got fully rare (not a problem, I still liked it), but the dish itself looked very sad and boring! Asparagus was bad, tasted old and too salty on both dishes. Once I finished my dish we were hoping that pasta will end our evening on the good note, but after an hour sitting and drinking, we realized that dish is not coming 🤷🏼 view and patio definitely a plus, but that's all.

The mango and strawberry sorbet tasted great but they ran out of cups so my husband had to get his scoop in a cone. Also, the girl who served us said they ran out of spoons and ran to the other end of the restaurant to retrieve one. All in the meanwhile, she left my sorbet out of the freezer and it was melting slowly. Would have been nice if she left my sorbet in the cold temperature while she was running around for five minutes.

First time here and the experience was alright. We booked a reservation and announced our arrival. Was told it would be just a few minutes to be seated. ~20 minutes had passed so we followed up, and the hostess reacted as if she just realized we had arrived. 5 minutes later we were seated. I was excited to try one of the many truffle-infused menu options, so I opted for the truffle burger. While the burger was good, I did not taste truffle at all. My friend ordered the truffle pasta and barely tasted any truffle. My red wine also tasted like it came from a bottle that had been sitting open for a few days. All in all, I was still hungry after my meal. Our server however was hilariously great and made up for the shortcomings.

If you’re looking for a nice view by the water, this is a great location! But if you’re looking for great food as well, maybe look somewhere else. The food was of course priced high but came out at staggered times for our party and was lacking seasoning and flavour. The spinach salad is definitely one to avoid as it was basically undressed spinach with a few toppings at the bottom. The fish and chips is also quite inconsistent with the portion size. You could come short while the people beside you get big pieces but still have to pay $23. The waiter and hostess were nice, no issue with staff!

We sat on their pet-friendly patio with a beautiful view of the harbour for dinner. Food was delicious, we ordered the salmon burger and the fish and chips. Both were cooked well and brought out quickly. For drinks we had the Phillip’s Dinosaur BlackBerry Sour Ale, Granville Island Cypress Honey Lager, and the Patina Mango Guava Hefeweizen. The sour ale and the honey lager were great and the hefe had really good mango flavour. Servers were very kind and friendly and very accommodating with our dogs. 12/10 would recommend.

Be careful about eating outside. You might have a bird taking a poop on your food. Food tastes okay. Very very long waiting time for food. We waited 40+ minutes. They also missed my father's meal, and we had to wait even longer. The meals are also not very big; expensive and low calorie. My family and I are not full. The views are nice.

Beautiful patio and friendly servers. However, the food was outrageously overpriced for what you get. We got a pitcher of sangria to share. We also got the wings, 10 wings for $16.5... For our mains I got the halibut cioppino (pictured here). First, it was brought out luke warm. On the plate was 6 mussels, 2 prawns, some potatoes, fennel, a small piece of halibut and the tiniest amount of broth. Very underwhelming to say the least. Others at the table ordered the tuna burger (which they said was bland) and the seafood linguine. Overall, the food is not worth the price and you are paying for the view. You’re better off going to Dockside or Sandbar on Granville island for better food and just as nice patios.

The worst use of my money this decade. I'm a fairly understanding and easy to please person, but my experience at Bridges was perhaps my worst ever dining experience in Vancouver. Tried it on a whim because I heard it's their last summer. My boyfriend and I walked in yesterday (Tuesday) around 5:30pm and waited about 20min for our table — reasonable, no problem. FOH was okay — not particularly friendly but not hostile. Our waiter was kind enough to put up an umbrella to shade us and that was probably the only good thing about this experience (although he set it up hastily and bumped into the table beside us several times during the process). I was disappointed when they didn't have the app (ahi tuna ceviche) or drink (honey lager) that I wanted. Ended up just getting the crispy humboldt squid ($17.50) and halibut cioppino ($30) with high expectations due to the pricing. My boyfriend ordered a cocktail (strawberry crush). We didn't expect fast service because it was busy, but our food arrived before drinks. In fact, we never got our drinks even after we finished our food (which was quick because the portions were so small). It took a while to cancel our drinks and grab the bill because our waiter never checked up on us (never even got a water refill). Our waiter told us he forgot to order our drinks in the first place... so I guess no cancellation was needed. Our waiter seemed like he was just desperate for his shift to end. Made no conversation, forgot our drinks, and never checked on us (we asked a different worker who then went to get him to get our bill). We only tipped because we're not barbarians. Food itself was horribly overpriced for the size and quality. Not that the food tasted bad, but it was definitely not worth its price at all. $17.50 for what looks like a HALF-EATEN plate of calamari just THROWN onto a dish. Tasted good but other restaurants typically serve double (or more) the portion at this price. I'd honestly rather go to White Spot for calamari. The halibut ($30) was small (like a child's fist) and it was dry. The dish came with some mussels, shrimp, potatoes, and a piece of focaccia. I'd understand paying $30 for a small but exquisite dish, but this was less enjoyable than halibut from any of the places inside the Granville Island market. I'm so disappointed in this experience, especially for what seems to be a Granville Island staple. It pains me just thinking about it.
