Very authentic, very affordable, great atmosphere. Good portion sizes and very good food. Fast service as well!
Great place for food. Good selection of tequilas. I like the staff as well. I will be back many times
Terrible with names but the lovely gentleman who looked after my sister, myself and my toddler was amazing! Patient, friendly, and helped find us a spot to store my stroller while we enjoyed our meal. And his smile was infectious and super genuine. Oh and the food was awesome! First time here and definitely coming back with my hubby. :)
Atención y servicio Súper !!!
Comí una sopa de tortilla especial y La verdad está deliciosa .... muy diferente a la tradicional !
Felicidades a todo el equipo .... volvemos pronto .;)
Hands down best Mexican food in the city. Prices are very reasonable, the specials are always great, awesome chimichangas and those big ass Margaritas are THE BOMB!!! We won't even consider other places anymore!
Mucho bueno!! Fun atmosphere, good food, friendly service! Could've used some sour cream or more variety of sauces but overall it was delicious!
Amazing! Tortilla soup the best I've ever tasted. We also had the steak tacos, flavour beyond words. I can't wait until my next visit
Food was amazing, ceviche, tortilla soup and margaritas, very authentic, all I needed was the beach! Service was just as amazing! Will definitely be back for Micheladas!!
Get the tortilla soup. A litle but spicy and a lot of flavor!
Great tasting food. Friendly staff. I will go back when I'm in Vancouver.

We tried some Mexican food here and the food turned out to be definitely awesome. This is the first time we tried Mexican food and it was the word the decision to choose this place.
First time trying this place it won't be my last i ordered the very delicious Super Tortilla Soup and the awesome Beef Burrito meal i give the food 10/10 they also have a very addictive bottle of green habanero hot sauce on the table it's got good heat and terrific flavour, the service was fantastic (waitresses should smile and not walk around with grumpy looks) i would recommend this place
Man that super tortia soup is awesome. Its safe to say its a little treat every time I come into Vancouver. The margaritas are pretty solid as well.
As a foodie, when I take on the responsibility of picking out places to eat, I do so seriously. I use my success to gauge my effectiveness, and today I think I did well. Although I went in having my work cut out for me. Today’s dinner was for a work function, and one of my coworker had very specific eating habits. Like she will try snails, but would refuse Madeleine’s from France. She ate to survive and not to enjoy, so finding a destination to impress the others, but would also cater to her, would be a tricky. Although, I usually find that Mexican food often caters to all, and it did so today. I also got her to vet the menu online before we walked in.
We were drawn in by the prickly cactus outside the front door. No maybe not, only kidding!! Actually we adore Mexican food & we were in need of a chilli hit after a cold day walking the streets & parks of Vancouver. This turned out to be above our expectations with great food & service. The fish tacos & vegetarian options were great & they delivered on that chilli too
We were back at my partner’s favourite Mexican restaurant. When he has that craving, this is where he comes and this is what we order, basically the same combo every time. So much so that to date this is the dish I have ordered the most of at any restaurant. “La Castia” is iconic with its cactus shaped landmark by the door. It attracted your attention and invited you in with a twinkling glow. The exterior hasn’t change much over the five years we have been coming here. Though I do think they swap out the piñatas that hang from the ceiling from time to time. All the other Mexican themed memorabilia have seemed to stay pretty constant. Like the colourful lucia libre masks over the bar, the palm trees in between the tables, and the stone and tile figurines that hung off the walls.
My girlfriend and I went here not expecting much. We were in the area and wanted to explore. Upon entering it was a very loud crowd. The energy is high and seating was limited since it was a weekend night. Our server recommends the bar, which is fine.
Our bartender was extremely friendly and gave recommendations. Let me tell ya, the margaritas are insanely HUGE here. It's the size of your head!
My Mexican friend had told me it's true, the margaritas are huge and the drinks specials are frugal, so they get you drunk enough to eat their food... Yikes. If your a true Mexican you know what good Mexican food tastes like, and since he's a red seal Mexican chef, it's more then enough to believe on my own standards.
We ordered the fish tacos, and the Mexican vegan dish. The fish tacos were wonderful and the vegan Mexican dish was delicious. The only downside was that there was cheese on my refried beans which is kinda weird if it's vegan. Perhaps it's suppose to be "vegetarian"? Not a big deal to me but it would be a big deal to a true vegan. Second, our food literally came to us in 5 mins. That is fast man! But unfortunately fast doesn't mean quality. Don't get me wrong, it tasted good. Nothing is wrong in their prep. It's executed way too fast that's all lol. As soon as we ordered I went to the washroom, came back out and my food was ready lol.
This place is a great place to socialize over drinks and food. Food is decent, but if your Mexican, it's Meh. Would I come back? Yes of course, for the same dishes, and perhaps the nachos. Food I would rate 3.5, it was almost a 4 for me, almost!
As for service, it's a 5/5 for sure. Excellent staff!
I really like the decor. 4.5/5
The food was very tasty. We ordered combination 1,3 and 7, and we found out that the portion size was huge. The flautas with potatoes inside and the beef chimichanga were very delicious! The Spanish rice, salad, and refried beans were great as well. The corn tortilla in the quesadilla was just simply amazing. Everything was very tasteful and kinda salty (i didn't mind the saltiness but my mom clearly did)
Food 4.5/5
Service was OK 3.5/5
I really like the simple and straightforward menu without fancy names for the dishes. that just makes ordering pretty easy for me cuz i know limited Spanish.
I had an amazing time here. Really cute, love the decor, the staff, the service and the food was wonderful. Those were definitely the best jalepeno poppers I've ever had! Amazing margaritas and everything else I had tried. Will be coming back next time I go to Vancouver. Great memories .
The greatest Mexican food in Vancouver! Their texas nacho is the best!
Good looking and friendly servers, nice private party space with stereo, TV, and couch, and the owner is really really nice!!

Decent Mexican food. Not too expensive, good drinks. I would recommend it. Haven't been to tacofino restaurant but this is better than the bar.
To be honest I've only ever had the chimichangas here but they are delicious enough to keep me coming back. I've never had to wait for a seat and the service has been great. The complimentary chips and salsa are great too.
Not a lot to say about it! Its just really good Mexican food and I really enjoyed the nachos. There is a severe lack of fried chicken at this place but I guess it's not their fault fried chicken isn't technically considered "Mexican".
Anyhow, it really is great food. Definitely eat here if you're ever in the area and craving for some Mexican-style grub
Good taco and burritos. Definitely one of the better Mexican food in Vancouver. They have a wide variety of meats and vegetable. Price is affordable and restaurant opens late if your cravings some Mexican food.
La Casita is by far the best Mexican in vancouver. It has everything; good liquor (although a bit easy-handed), good atmosphere, fabulous menu (including any Mexican meal you could possibly wants), caters to vegans... Etc etc, amazing! Service is a bit iffy sometimes but certainly not any sort of deterrent.
Amazing place for large groups. I came here with a group of about 15 people on Saturday April 12 for dinner. We were downstairs with another large group—I guess the area is designated a "party room" of sorts. The service was great, servers attentive and the food was amazing! Great selection of drinks and delicious authentic Mexican cuisine. (P.S. You eat free if you're celebrating your birthday.) Two thumbs up!
It was friendly and casual dinning. The staff was open to substitutions/requests. Margaritas are good. I would go back. Good atmosphere to sit, eat/drink & chat.
Great Atmosphere and Good Food. Great atmosphere, with good selection on the menu. The beer is amazing. Very reasonable priced with decent portion. Service is great and attentive, always checking on us to see how things are. Plenty of parking in the area.
Super Awesome Mexi Cuisine that doesn't breaks the bank! We went there for lunch and just fell in love. This is the most authentic Mexican food I've eaten in Canada. The service is just as good as the food. A must visit if your in Vancouver - j n' S
I really liked this place awesome Fajitas and ceviche I will be back!!!!
La casita is my fave mexican restaurant in van. I really enjoy the tacos nice shells and good portions. they have a special on tacos on tuesday
have had the flutas and enchilada before both were really good the refried beans are good too not too salty like you find at a lot of places.. the salad that comes with the plates is pretty boring
they will bring you complimentary chips and salsa i believe they have 3 different homemade salsas which i enjoyed (you may have to ask if they are busy)
like that they have mole sauce usually get a side of that with my meals
also like that they have a number of commercial hot sauces and I believe a couple of their own homemade sauce
the very large and in charge margarita is fun to share with friends if youre having a party night!!
Hands down best traditional Mexican west of Toronto and North of California.
Staff can be slight aloof and not so friendly however they have never messed up an order and they always end up warning their tip. Count on this as the best place to enjoy Mexican favourites like the red enchilada and chile relleno.
Our 'go to' for Mexican food. Close, reasonably priced tasty food. Portions good. Their enchiladas mole are great and their tortilla soup is one of the best around... great with combo #2 the flautas! Eat here a lot and the food is always consistent. It gets very busy but that's not a bad thing!
Family run small restaurant is a taco bar with exquisite variety of authentic tex mex. I had Baja fish and Carne asada and were both fantastic - guacamole with chips is a delight. There is salsa bar for all tastes. The place is clean and cozy - food presentation, quick and friendly service tops all one of the first real tex me taco bars in Vancouver finally.
Check it out, it is worth it.
I Love La Casita!. I was there with my friends Veronica, Ryan, Cam, Jenny and Ann the other day. The first impression of mine was a pleasant surprise. The décor is so cool and totally reminds me of Mexico. We managed to get a table on the main floor. I need to say the place was packed and some people behind us had to wait in line to get seated. The waitress immediately brought us some chips with delicious salsas for free. She was so sweet and helpful. What can be better than that?
I got beef tostada, tortilla soup and horchata, but my friends got burritos, blackened cod fish fillet, chicken fajitas, chiles rellenos meal, enchiladas, beef and chicken quesadillas, and something else .. I don't remember exactly what :) Oh my god! It was so delicious! I had a bit of everything and was stuffed. Price wise food is very affordable.
I will definitely come back and totally recommend you to come and check the restaurant out! Oh, they offer a birthday person free meal. And, they have super margaritas .. a huge glass of margarita. Soooo good! I took a picture of me sipping on it :)
BBF forever! Love ya all Veronica, Ryan, Cam, Jenny and Ann!
Potato flautas are delicious! The sides try come with aren't that great though.
So good! A little pricy for dinner, so I'll go back again for lunch next time
Food was very good, fish ceviche especially. Service wasnt very good considering it wasn't very busy when we went. The new mini burrito is pretty huge, good bang for your buck.
Mexican Pearl. Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Fairmount Hotel in Vancouver downtown. I have to admit that Vancouver is a beautiful city with lots of places to visit, but there is that one place that stands out for real: La Casita. We were wandering around Gastown and decided to have a lunch there. We were pleasantly surprised about La Casita: Mexican vibe in the heart of Vancouver. We had lunch specials, tacos and margaritas. The best Mexican food you can ever imagine! I totally recommend La Casita. Arriba! (I don’t know what it means, but it sounds cool .. haha)
No comments!. La casita is the best Mexican restaurant in Vancouver period. My friend Victor had a birthday and he invited us to drop by La Casita in Gastown. Jeez! That was something incredible – tequila, tacos, enchiladas, quesadillas, burritos and that other Mexican stuff I have no clue about, and, of course, a lot of awesome people. Best party ever! You know what? Victor didn’t have to pay his share since his was the birthday boy. Oh man, he knows where to party!
Yummy. A favorite pre-game spot that I've been tell my wife about for a while now. Today we were downtown together and so stopped in.
She has a small chicken taco and I had a small mole enchilada. Both were great. Full flavour and good serving size (bordering on too much).
Service was friendly and prompt; it was quiet but that is my usual experience even when busy.
Best Mexican. Whenever I have a serious craving for Mexican food, I come here. I have eaten here half a dozen time in the past 6-8 months and have never been disappointed in the food or the service. The menu items are fresh and authentically cooked, absolutely delicious. AND they make a mean margarita.
Tacos were extraordinary. Flavorful. Service great!
Great Margaritas. For $20 you can order a massive margarita that's good for at least three people
La Casita delivered a solid Mexican meal. The chips and salsas were excellent, Valentina hot sauce in abundant supply on the table. The entree of tacos, enchiladas and chorizo chimichanga was above par. The service was prompt and attentive. A solid performance all around.
Amazing Full of Energy. Went downtown Saturday for my Birthday. The Manager was great fit our party of 7 in without reservations even though the place was packed. We had authentic margaritas and super food. The wait staff was fun, energenic and very accomadating. Felt like I was in Mexico the food was so great. The restaraunt has a great selection of Tequila and the quacamole is better than when you are on holidays. Loved our Bartender he was so fun. Would go again and again in fact I think this is our new favortie place to go when we leave the North Shore.
We had a fantastic time! Great margaritas, food is delicious (big portion) and great ambiance. It really feels like Mexico! Loved it!
My favourite so far... I had a serious craving for Mexican, as I frequently do, and popped in to La Casita because a buddy of mine recommended it. I like to go to a different Mexican joint every time I have a craving to test the local scene, and I like to cook a bit myself so I'm always looking for some inspiration. I think I found some. Cool place, in Gastown area, relaxed vibe, good spot for some casual conversation and a drink. i ordered the chicken burrito and a beer, my usual safe order when I try somewhere new and I snacked on the complimentary chips and salsa. Let me tell you, my eyes must have been huge when I saw the size of this burrito, fricken huge, with beans and salad. This burrito would have been enough for 2 average people, but I somehow managed to finish it by rinsing it down with a Corona. Good food, good price. Went back again after a hockey game with some customers of mine for a snack and a drink, was pleased to find a party downstairs where we were served in privacy. Drank from a great selection of Tequila and some Chipotle wings, good stuff! I'll keep you posted on the hunt for great Mexican in Vancouver, but go try La Casita, definitely worth it.
CHEAP TACOS!!!!. Man! I was at La Casita the other night to watch the Canucks game and apparently its 2 for 1 tacos when the game is on, Sweet! So we pigged out and drank Mexican beer, Crazy hot sauce , they should bottle that $h!#. Cheap tacos and game night ,perfect!

Lovely food and Latin guitar. Last Saturday night my husband and i went to La Casita for dinner with an other couple that we frequent restaurants with. We showed up without a reservation so we had to wait about 15 min to get a seat but it was well worth it. I started with a top shelf Margarita that was to die for and my girlfriend had a blueberry Margarita that she said was good too. a few minutes after we sat down ,much to our suprise a latin guitarist came on and started playing some very nice music that we all enjoyed. For my main course i had the Chipotle Prawns that were kind of hot but but quite delicious , lovely green salsa as well. I highly recommend this restaurant on satureday nights or any night for that matter. Thank you La Casita.
On a rainy day I stopped in La Casita in Gastown and was warmed by the great tortilla soup with just the right amount of heat and flavor. The music and enjoying the atmosphere with other folks in the restaurant gave me a little taste of Mexico, until I stepped back into the rainy afternoon in Vancouver streets.
Good Service but Great food. I was pleasently suprized the other day when me and my girlfriend went for lunch to La Casita. I had the Chicken Fajita and she had the flautas, the food was great ! Good portions , lots to play with, free chips with 2 differnt salsas, what more could you want for Mexican food. p.s. the sevice was also good, overall nice experience, thanks La Casita!
Great atmosphere; collies, decor and music all supported energy and fun. Good size portions, great flavor in the beef/bean burrito dinner I enjoyed.
Had time for a beer and appy and didn't get dissapointed. Had the Cerviche (sp?) Tostado and it was delicious! Made with pickled cod, avacado and salsa, it hit the spot. Recommended!
Great Value for Gastown. La Casita is a family run Mexican Restaurant meets sports bar meets "place to hang out on the weekends with the guys". The portions were substantial and being that we weren't quite satisfied with our dineout meal that evening, we wandered into La Casita and were warmly greeted by the manager and waitstaff.
We were, admittedly, half-full, but it was the weekend and after flipping through their large menu, we decided to split combo #4, and two drinks that the waiter recommended, the Casita Sunrise. It was like a tequila sunrise, but with pineapple and orange juice, and (if I heard it correctly, 2 oz of tequila). Personally, I don't think it was two ounces of tequila, but it could have been the food that made me full, and not boozy.
Combo four came with two chorizo and mushroom quesadillas, a salad, and six hot wings. M really liked the quesadillas. He said that the flavour of the mushroom and chorizo really came through. I would like to note, and I appreciate that the tortillas were home-made. Home made tastes better!
I was actually getting a little full, and liked that the salad wasn't a plain green salad. It was a marinated slaw of sorts, and I love that they had fresh avocado garnishing the plate. The chicken wings were average, although I liked that there was extra hot sauce on the table for you to add as you pleased! Another bonus was that the food, although filling and rich, was not greasy. Finally, a Mexican restaurant that is not all about greasy fingers and shiny lips!
Service was great, considering that we had just come from a higher end restaurant with no service but almost triple the price tag!
We were really too full at this point but we finished the entire combo nonetheless. For under $30 and full bellies, we would love to visit La Casita again, perhaps to watch UFC? I was told that there was a larger group area downstairs, with karaoke and televisions.
A Pleasant Surprise. We had a spontaneous craving for Mexican. We were contemplating our next vacation, and were hoping to find something authentic in Vancouver (We've been known to travel to the States, to get better prices, larger portions, and authentic style. My girlfriend said that she had spotted this place from the bus. We ventured out and found reasonably priced food, authentic style (like real Mexicans eat in Mexico!) and a fun atmosphere. Friendly service was the order of the day. We're definitely going back soon, and bringing friends
They also have a taco shop on Robson. I'm not sure if it was just the holiday, but the streets were rather empty and it was kinda creepy walking in that area lol.. Unexpectedly during dinner hours, the place was also pretty vacant when we arrived, with their bottom floor completely unoccupied. Again, it may have been that people were still lining up at Future shop buying a new flat screen TV or crowding around Forever 21 haha.. ---------- The Food Anyways, we were warmly greeted by a waitress and picked a nice window seat. Moments after we placed our order, a basket of Complimentary Tortilla Chips & Salsa arrived: These chips were delicious and fresh, and you can definitely taste the quality difference between them versus the bagged Tostitos. (No offense, Tostitos.) The two salsas we got were medium salsa and salsa verde .. ? I'm just guessing because they didn't say much about it and I was too lazy to ask. The salsa verde was refreshing, but a bit bland for my taste buds.. Tray loved it though! I much preferred the subtle kick in the medium salsa. Apparently, Naomi got some guacamole instead of the salsa verde on her trip, I'm very jealous.. Warning, highly addictive. I had to convince myself to stop eating these in order to save room for the entrees, only to return back to them, continuing to stuff myself until my stomach couldn't handle it anymore. x'D The crispy goodness, in combination of the flavourful salsa was just on point. (5/5) [Why am I rating a complimentary dish? Because they were that good.] Suiza Chicken Enchiladas (small- $13): It was a little embarrassing ordering a small to share, but definitely a wise ch
God bless the child who endureth an entire plate of mole and lives to tell the tale. For he is a special child who knows not weakness but only strength. Tis no simple feat to polish off one whole platter of Chicken Mole Enchiladas and I’m not about to claim such feat. I’m no hero so it’s thanks to good friends who will pick you up when you’re down, brush you off, and take half your mole from you in exchange for half of their delicious Veggie Enchilada. Karan, wherever you are in this world, I want you to know – you are a hero and a saint. Don’t let anyone tell you different. It’s really nobody’s fault but my own. I should have thought twice when Karan uttered the words, “You know mole is made with chocolate right” But instead, I hissed, “Yes, of course I know. It’s just going to have that smoky chocolate taste.” Wrong. So wrong. How was I to know that the description of “Mexican Curry” would mean something closer to chocolate mud? Imagine for a second, if you will – chocolate, and then mud, and then layers of that smothering your entire enchilada. It’s enough to make anyone gag, unless that anyone is an intense lover of mole. If that’s the case, this might just be your ticket. Still, as traumatizing as my mole was, I could never hate you La Casita. So many nights, you have supplied me with the Giant Margaritas and Tequila shots that have made me the low classy senorita I am today, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Mole woes aside, Karan’s Veggie Enchilada was a real life saver tonight because all those cheesy vegetables set to the tune of Marc Anthony’s sessy Latino crooning are what my JLo dreams are made of. If JLo doesn’t live like this, I don’t want to wake up from this dream. Accompanied by fluffy, well flavoured Mexican Rice and a smooth dollop of tasty Refried Beans, this large platter at $17 is the very definition of living large. Obviously next time I’d opt for the chicken or bee
You know that place with the cactus cutout? You know they have 2, one on Cordova and the other facing Abott? The ones that are out there rain or shine. That sees a rainbow flag during pride and a string of lights during Christmas? Well I was here enjoying dinner today. My guest had been here a handful of times and has sworn by the food. He dared say the best Mexican food in Vancouver. You walk in past the rusted iron gates, and a slew of over grown greenery. Wild vines and prickly cacti that oversees the threshold. The place is usually busy, but with two floors you always get a table without too much of a wait, if any. Looking around the room you notice that all the cliche Mexican paraphernalia are all present and accounted for. Lucha Libre masks in all different hues; some with lightening shaped eye holes and others with streaks of glitter. The ceiling was strung up with pointed piñatas; on each of their tips hung tassels or streamers to match the confetti and sequins that adorned
...the super nachos were delicious. The sauce was really yummy and melted the cheese, and the super crispy chips were so good. Definitely not healthy…. but…. delicious.
...beef chimichanga and chorizo quesadilla combo...I loved the chimichanga. This crispy burrito came stuffed with well-seasoned meat, beans and cheese. The quesadilla was filled with spicy chorizo and melted cheese...I loved the food, it was very good. The Margaritas were amazing.
Before a Canucks hockey game last week, we decided to finally try out La Casita in Gastown. We were able to have a quick meal before the game. The service seemed a bit scattered, and I know for sure that they sent our food to the wrong table at first. You can get smaller dishes, and also massive ones, but I thought it was a bit pricey. I ordered the Combo #6 which came with 1 mini beef burrito and 2 mole enchiladas with beans, rice, and salad. I enjoyed the burrito the most, as their mole sauce for the enchiladas was a bit too sweet for my liking. The beef burrito was very flavourful and the meat was tender. My friends ordered a small Chimichanga, and a full sized Chicken Burrito. The chimichanga was very cheesey, but in a good way, and the burrito was massive. We did enjoy the food, but I didn’t really think the food was any better than many of the Mexican restaurants in Vancouver though. We also ordered a Churro for dessert. Sweet and cinnamony, and serve
Approaching summer makes me think of tacos and salsa and, ok, margaritas, so on a sunny day last week when I met a friend for lunch, I found myself suggesting Mexican. Specifically, La Casita in Gastown. A cute little hole in the wall with kitschy decor (
