First visit and I will be back! I just finished a delicious apricot breakfast cookie ... moist and soft but crumbly ... a perfect accompaniment to my artfully presented beautifully foamed americano misto. The filtered water available through a tap was also appreciated. and ... a sweet "parklet" outside with tables and benches for nattering and noshing. Come and enjoy! :)
Lured by the smell of coffee, we walked in the Fir Street location (1809) last week, and what a nice surprise! Loved the lunch, loved the coffee, loved the spot! Pleasant ambiance, pleasant staff, all great! Thanks!
È il locale dei cugini Canadesi....con un po di Italian style! Capuccino all italiana....Best in the World!
Great place to have tea, write emails, or the next great Canadian novel.
Much love for Prado! Really great food, drinks and atmosphere.
because I have the same last name, I messaged Prado Cafe and inquired the prices of their mugs. they suggested I come to one of the cafe locations and pick up a mug there. however, I live in Northern California in the San Francisco Bay Area, so that would be a bit difficult. to my pleasant surprise - they offered to send me one as a gift! I received it today (playing tag with UPS)!! so exciting! thank you, Prado Cafe. I hope to some day come out there and visit a Cafe. thank you for being so thoughtful. ....... sincerely, Janina Prado
Aura and I had a delightful time there. And many thanks 🙏🏻 for holding my backpack 🎒 for me.
Love at first Sip! Would love to come again and all the time..!
Professional staff and professional coffee. Fine cafe-ing without the high prices. Keep it up!
Fantastic coffee, a great location and an all around great place to be at! I think your going to hit this one out of the park Sammy Congratulations!!
I was brought this coffee as gift when my sister in law and brother visited me in England where I live. When I come home I will be there to get one in person love it !
Best coffee and breakfast cookie ever! Great staff, good prices.
Our schedules worked out just so that D and I had time to meet up for coffee in between our travels. We were originally going to hang out at Continental Coffee, but it was packed, and Prado had a small table that was perfect for us. I had the cappuccino, and D had the mocha. We shared the cookie, and if I remember correctly, it was bomb. Peanut butter and cookie match made in heaven.
A nice atmosphere - high ceiling, off-white walls + grainy wood interior, glass front letting the sunlight in - all gave the place a trendy yet warm, simple, and inviting feel. My flat white and a "cookie with no name" were both solid. If you are in the neighborhood, this would be a perfect place to hang out with friends or to read / work. Limited selection of food items.
Trendy, good service and delicious coffee (forty ninth parallel). Love the atmosphere and the area. Great outdoor seating and they make a solid cappuccino. Fast internet too!
Best cafe patio in the city to sit when it’s nice out. It can be hard to snag spot though, it’s a busy place. My americano was ok, my friend’s latte was awesome, and my apricot cookie was good (their muffins looked better, but the lady in front of me got the last :( ). I’ll be back for sure because I think it’s the best cafe in a fifteen minute walking radius of my house.
Cool spot for Coffee. And that's about it... Gotta say though the Banana bread is great, super moist!
A Shot of Rhythm and Blues.. I was very scared of the hipsters:) so I just got my espresso. mmmm prado has changed a lot!! the spro was sweet and the employees were friendly.
the cool white walls still exist. This place rocks!!
Delicious Baked Goods. I tried the Cinnamon sugar donut and loved it! One of the best i've had. The peanut butter cup was outstanding as well. The coffee was good.
Prado Cafe has always been a good spot for a good coffee. I've been stopping in for years. Recently the cafe has changed hands and has been taken over by a very well known name in the coffee industry, Mr. Sammy Piccolo. For those of you who may feel put off, nervous or intimidated by the fact that a world class barista and coffee artisan is now pouring your morning capp, don't worry. The lovely thing about Sammy is that his desire to serve and make you feel comfortable is 100% warm and genuine. There is none of the dreaded coffee snobbery or haughtiness present from him whatsoever - and on the flip side, there's no need to name drop either. Prado is wearing it's new cachet rather lightly, like wearing Dior as if it were your favourite pair of jeans. The coffee being served is from the ever excellent 49th Parallel Roasters, the espresso paired with creamy smooth milk from a local Fraser valley dairy. They have recently added some delicious calzones to the menu, and I highly recommend the raspberry bars, they're incredibly lush! If you haven't been by Prado or it's been a while, make a point of stopping by... Those stark white walls are looking a lot warmer these days.
Best coffee on the drive. They serve tasty coffee (49th Parallel roaster) and best small cappuccino on the Drive in my opinion. The young woman who owns the place possibly makes the best dry cap in Vancouver. Breakfast Cookies and Cran/Ginger muffins are delicious and worth coming in for. The scene is minimalist, lo-fi and the hipster scene easily shrugged off, it is the DRIVE after all...
Love Prado!. Hands down, my favourite coffee shop in the city. but everyone has their own opinion of course.. I've talked to lots of people that don't like this style of roast - i'd guess it is somewhere just darker than a 'full city' roast, but i'm a roasting n00b.
The place itself is beautifully done, it's a great place to be when the sun shines through the southern windows (in the spring or fall... it's hot there in the summer). It's always calm and friendly, some people seem to be put off by the clean aesthetic of the place, but to me that makes it more tranquil.
Mmmmm... Good coffee. Hip looking place for those who want to ignore the chain coffee places. Nice clean design, but the test is always the coffee. And they pass the test. I'll walk extra for coffee here versus some of the other cafes around.
Got that independent vibe.... ... that you'd associate with The Drive. From the slightly deer-in-headlights service, the Gortex-wearing clientele (mixed in with the burgeoning crowds of hipsters there working away on their Macs and iPhones). The busty female barista apologized to me for her lack of skills in making a good rosetta. Not the best I've had (as it had a touch of burnt-ness) but the accompanying banana bread was nice and delicate.
Prado Cafe and Vancouver coffee in general. Am sipping a coffee right now, but not in Vancouver. All you Vancouverites, enjoy your coffee because Vancouver is one of the best places in the world for great coffee. Prado is one of the best places in Van but Bump and Grind on the Drive is about as good. Slightly less good on the Drive, but very acceptable (still better than what I am drinking right now), are the Italian place with green marble, and JJ Beans. Here I am paying more ($) for less (quality), hence the musing on Vancouver coffee....
Aaahhh... Cafe Prado !. Aaaaahhhh.... Cafe Prado.......
For the longest time, I couldn't even figure out its name !
Between us it was "THE" cafe... "you know the one at the corner of 4th..."; cause I guess that they had lost their mini sign, or that putting the sign out wasn't on the task list of the employees at that time ;-)
And then it was "Cafe PradA"... hum... too much shopping I guess !! ;-)
Eventually we figured out its real name...
But really, who cares ?!?!
Cause what's most important is how good their coffee is !!!
I just LOVE it !
It's my saturday morning spot... you know... first day of the week-end... would SO much love to sleep in...
BUT little monsters wake you up BEFORE 7:00am (how on earth do they know it's the week-end, so that they can wake up EARLIER than usual ?!?!?!).
So, you dress with the first thing that come under your hand, you fill the double stroller with mini-monsters in pyjamas, so excited to go out, you start zombi-walking toward Commercial Drive.... All this with your eyes half open.
And then you enter you wonderful cafe Prada...mmmm.... the smell !!!!
You order your tall cafe latte... AND the raspberry bar (don't tell me you've never tasted it ! that would be a crime !!!)....
You wish you could stay in this great clean, bear, tranquil space.
But NO. Remember ? You have your mini-pyjamas-monsters... So you bobble your way to the nearest park (luckily just half a block from there).
And then it's HEAVEN !!!
You sit on a bench and start sipping your perfect cafe latte. not too hot. not too warm. coffee taste perfect. not too strong, not too weak. AND not burnt !!
Bon. you still need to share your delicious, scrumptious raspberry bar with your mini-monster... but hey. that's a small price to pay for this really nice moment to wake-up and be ready to start your week-end ! :-)
My First Love Prado Cafe. Prado, which means open spaces in Spanish, hangs out on at 1938 the drive (right on the corner of east fourth) it's has a minimalist appeal too with it's all wood tables, metal chairs and a simple chalkboard menu with brick columns reaching to the ceiling.
It was also the first cafe in Vancouver I enjoyed without knowing the go to spots. . . It remain one of the top on my list.
The coffee was well made with smooth and not excessively bubbly milk foam. They passed my cappuccino test, so I was a happy girl. The coffee here is good and worth checking out, however, I have an issue with seating here. Every time I have gone here it is packed full of people. I know it is unfair to criticize a place for being popular, but I have walked in and left because there were no seats available. People come here and sit on their laptops for hours and they won’t budge. So just be warned, you may have a hard time finding a spot if you come here. Recommendation: Yes, for good coffee on Commercial Drive. Tagged: feature

I appreciate how courageously and professionally they handle stuff. I love their products as well, it’s healthy. Wish the staff happiness and health
Prado has one of the best Coffee in Vancouver. Prado breakfast is on the picture. The avocado toast with poached egg, arugula, and special sauce. The bread was crisp, flavorful and chewy. Great variety of baked goods for vegetarians and vegans (an an apricot cookie is must try). Also, one of my favorite spots to work at. Good wifi plenty of tables (not a lot of outlets, though) definitely worth dropping by.
A busy, clean cafe with a nice contemporary vibe. The cafe bar is nicely spread out and the cups are stacked neatly. The sitting arrangement is cozy with writers chatting and typing for hours. People are usually friendly in this cafe because of a bright atmosphere, and the baristas make good coffee.
The other evening i went to enjoy a latte and they played the whole Shine on you crazy diamond part 1 to 9, and at first i was like dang I just want to enjoy my latte but then it turned into a whole sensory experience 5 stars
