I dined here on Easter Sunday. Not only is their food delicious (I recommend their burgers and milkshakes), Save on Meats serve the folks in need too. I knew about their token program from friends, but I learnt (from their super friendly staff) that it's the "tip of the iceberg" in terms of their service to the community. For instance, on Easter Saturday they fed over 1200 people straight out of their kitchen! And they partner with many other organizations to help residents of the Downtown Eastside. If only more places in Vancouver could help give back to the community like these guys. When you dine here, you are doing yourself and the community a favour :)
I came to Vancouver in passing and had one of the best burgers of my life. If you are in town I would highly recommend stopping by.
I've recently moved to gastown and this is my go to place... even if I'm just goin for coffee!!! Great vibe and awesome staff!!
Had an amazing meal with family here recently - food was amazing, staff was friendly and knowledgable. They have a Donate a Meal program that is supporting their community as week - Highly recommend
Came here for the first time today for brunch. The chicken and waffles were delicious!! It looks sketchy from the outside but don’t worry, it’s a fine hipster establishment on the inside!
I must say that I love my experiences here both for a sit down meal and from the butchers side! Good quality wholesome food is guaranteed and the staff are just fabulous!
Love the old diner appeal and the jamming old school R&B. Unassuming charm and they offer gluten free bun for their excellent burgers!
Probably the best breakfast I had in my life home made bacon and ham was just outstanding. Definitely coming back before heading back home!!
The Italian beef sandwich for lunch is to die for. My wife loved the meatball sandwich.
Recently went to the newly reopened butcher shop side. They only do organic meet and at a very reasonable price. Lots of unusual cuts to select from. I got one called a "Denver stake". Pretty dang good I might add. The staff are real butchers that are very knowledgeable and eager to help and explain. I'll be going back.
Wonderful place! Just ate there today and I really appreciate what they’re doing for the community. I found out that they hand out tokens to minority groups who are struggling and that is a perfect way to give back to the community. Ps. If you order anything make sure you get the haystack fries!!! Haven’t had those in ages
Old school Diner that has a build your own burger menu. Friendly staff and great food that fills you up. They also have various outreach incentives to help the less fortunate which I found admirable.
Great place , good atmosphere in a retro building very funky . This place is temporary closed for general public but now only open for community events 🙂🍲🥘🥗🍔🌭🥪🥓🥩🍖🍗🍕🍟 we are very thankful for the community events here from A better life foundation and save on meats , thanks
This place is a MUST if you're seeking a hearty Vancouver breakfast or lunch at the right price without sacrificing flavour! I had their breakfast special (two eggs, hash-browns, sourdough toast, and bacon). The hash-browns were AMAZING and unlike any I have had before - almost deep-fried. The atmosphere boasted a very "hipster" feel - a great local funky place for a great meal. Sorry about the picture of the empty plates. I had intended to get a picture of the food, but once I started eating, I couldn't stop! 😆
A delicious spot dedicated to helping those in need. They give out sandwiches to the homeless. Anything additional (cookbooks, socks, etc) goes to a good cause. The staff is incredible and the food is great. Really filling.
Looks really shady but this is one of those places where you are in for a surprise. The staff is real nice. The menu is diner style and the food is made fresh and tastes really good. The reason for the 4 star is that hey serve free sandwiches to homeless people and you also get complimentary cookies if they still have some.
One of my favourites in Van! They have great comfort foods, a chill attitude and support the local community. I love in Sydney now and when I came back to Van with my new husband it was the first place I took him to eat. Thanks guys!!!
This place is one of Vancouver's hidden gems. I love the food, the atmosphere and the staff are super cool. Peices are great especially when you factor in the fact they make their own bbq sauce. Parking is close by but I prefer to take transit and walk. Neighborhood might look a bit sketchy but I have never had a problem.
Great diner spot nestled in a precarious place in Downtown Vancouver. The atmosphere is what a diner should feel like. And the food is exactly what is needed for your soul. The grilled cheese was simply sublime. Worth checking out anytime during the week.
