BierCraft Bistro recently launches a new menu, and they are available across three locations – Commercial Drive, Cambie, and Westbrook Village (UBC). The original beer bar is known for its extensive selection of craft and imported beer, particularly the Belgian beer. Few weeks ago, I was invited to try the new menu, and I visited the Cambie location for its spacious interior and sun-laden patio seating.
Biercraft bills itself as Vancouver’s original Beer Bar and they have three locations across Greater Vancouver. The have an extensive selection of craft and imported beers from around the world, with an emphasis of Belgian beer. They recently revamped their menu, so I dropped by with my friend Rick to check it out.
Great find.
Staff are friendly, decor is unique & you get a side of popcorn (the special spice mix/seasoning will make you drool!) with your drink order.
My recommendations- Brussel sprouts hash with bacon is a definite must.
Bottom line: This is a pretty great place to chat. There weren't too many TVs which can be a distraction for some people. Service was great, the beer selection was phenomenal, and the popcorn is a nice touch. I've heard good things about their food too so I'll have to try that next time. . Out the door price: $40 including tip
○great service
○good food/ similar to their other locations
○average price for type of food
○good place for patio in the summer and chill
○social gathering/ lively atmosphere
○if I had to choose one dish: their mussels
○would I go back? yes
Visiting our son for a layover between Hawaii and Ottawa. He recommended the Bier Craft Bistro. We had the beer braised chicken. It we delicious and the service was excellent. It has a great beer choice and a very comfy pub atmosphere. I would recommend this bistro
Kicking off Dine Out Vancouver this year for us was Biercraft Bistro. I had always wanted to try Biercraft but always forgot about them, so when I saw that they were participating in Dine Out and offering a $30 menu, it was a go!. Biercraft Bistro’s pre-meal snack was seasoned popcorn!. The appetizer version of Biercraft’s Salt Spring Island Marinier Mussel and Kennebec Frites was delicious. I couldn’t stop slurping up the garlic, shallots, white wine, fresh herbs, monte au beurre broth but boy was it garlicky! There was so much garlic AngryRussian actually thought there were orzo in the broth 😂!
One-liner: A very filling $30 Dine Out Vancouver option with some of the best service during this busy season
Highlight: Duck Confit
Recommended order: Duck Confit, Bouillabaisse, and Chocolate Torte
Would I go back? Yes.

Food here is always good. The seafood is always cooked perfectly and not over seasoned. Never had a bad experience here in terms of service or food quality. Price is reasonable.
It was my husband birthday. He picked this restaurant so he can drink different beers. They don't accept reservation for 8 or more after 6pm so we had to come early and save 4 seats thats coming at 7. 4 of us first start drinking while waiting other 4 to come. The waitress is nice. The food is actually so so. To be honest, it's my first time drinking french onion soup and have no clue it should be salty LOL LOL its soooo salty. I had to get my husband to drink it all. I had veggie sandwich (didnt take pic of it) , it was not bad. Too bad they don't serve yam fries.
Lots and lots of choices on Belgian beers. I asked for a recommendation on dark beers and the waitress made a good suggestion. I liked it. Their burger is really nothing more than ordinary, except it's on the pricier side for just a plain burger.
Great spot if your dining with your dog by your side, on the patio of course. Great selection of Belgium beers. Parking is plenty in the day, night time may be a challenge. Food is good.
Excellent selection of beers from around the world. Mostly European so if you are looking for local brews it's probably not the best place for you. Food is pretty good but a bit overpriced for what it is
Great food, better beer. BierCraft is one of my favourite places in Vancouver. They have a great selection of really tasty food, and their beer selection is second to none. I do find the prices a little high, but it's certainly a place that I will continue to visit.
Saturday night with friends we were seated quickly, amazingly friendly staff, very helpful with suggestions. We ordered appys everyone was excellent. Fish tacos, chicken wings, lettuce wrap (pulled pork), frites. Great selection of draft beers. Great experience. Will definitely be back.
These guys are awesome. I went in late on a Friday night and had an amazing experience. the staff are welcoming, friendly, kind, and helpful. i will definitely be back. i will definitely be recommending this place.
Fantastic, Real Quality. I've had the pleasure of eating and drinking almost everything on the menu here. The beer list is absolutely THE best in Vancouver, with constant updates, and the food is made with quality and creativity. The best mussels (huge and fresh) I've had in Van (although the size always depends on the season)...so if you're into mussels, it's worth your time. Also the non-pretentious atmosphere is refreshing next to the other spots that propound to be of quality.
Beers, beers, beers -- what else can I say?. If you love beer, you gotta love BierCraft. (I liked the name better when it was Stella's.) Every time I go in this one or its brother on Commercial, I basically play beer roulette. I don't know the differences between Belgian beers well enough to sound authoritative about them. But whatever I've ordered at Stella's/BierCraft over the years, it's been great. Especially the monkish brews. Food's decent too. Not spectacular, but at least as good as you'd expect from a gastropub, and superior to grunge pubs. This is a destination restaurant for the suds, though, not the grub.
Love the beer flight. Cheap way to try new beers :)
First visit to BierCraft Bistro, food and service was great! Had the Charcuterie and the smoked oysters were absolutely amazing! And the Mumbai chicken wings, best wings I've ever had! What more can I say, every dish we had was Delish! Definitely will visit again soon!
Great people, awesome beer, good food!
Great drinks, nice patio. Had a lovely dinner with my gal pal out on the patio on a sunny day. Tried the mojito which was super good with tons of fresh mint leaves and had the fish tacos and a bucket of fries for dinner. Loved the fries...crispy and fresh cut with skins; served with a nice mayo/chili dip. On a previous visit, I had the Drunken Mussels, which were really good too. There is a kiddie menu too; my kids tried the mac 'n cheese (excellent) and the fish 'n chips. The fish was fresh and delicious but the serving of fish looked kind of small. A great place for brunch, and a fantastic place to try beers. You can order beer samplers (tiny glasses of different beers)...served on a cool serving tray where they're all lined up.
Massive beer menu, with a nice selection of wines, too -- and a smart staff. Had a lovely glass of NZ Sauvignon Blanc, and a local beer: Central City (Double hop?). Both were nice. Clean lines on the beer, no doubt about it.
Tasty and creative appetizers too. Just got a few: edamame, beans, and poutine (not for me). All were good, but the poutine were really heavy, or so I was told.
Just love going to a place where there's more than a few beer options. The beer flight is cool too: you get to choose 4 different beers for around $10 (4oz each). We got this last time, but got a little tipsy cause it was so hot out and we hadn't eaten much that day ;)
A really nice place to socialize, drink Austrian beers and eat. Fantastic food. Crowded lively atmosphere. One of my favorite Vancouver restaurants.
Well stocked, good food, poor staff knowledge. Don;t get me wrong, the servers here were all very friendly, prompt, courteous and otherwise perfect. However, a specialty beer bar should have staff who are knowledgeable about the beer. I asked some very rudimentary questions about their offerings (e.g. which of these are "sours"? do you have a biere de garde?) and received totally blank responses. Even after the server went to consult a colleague, we were given no further information about the beers.
This kind of service contrasts massively with the Alibi Room, for example, which is a beer bar with some extremely knowledgeable staff. When you go to a specialty bar, the service experience should include some degree of confidence that your servers understand their product. I didn't get that here at all.
I rate this bar good due to the excellent range of beers, but I advise the owners to train new staff on the basics.
Stella's. Smoked salmon breakfast and Spinach feta omelette were good.
Great neighbourhood spot. Fun joint, great appies, good times, and love the beer selection!
It was super tasty...a little over priced. The atmosphere was not what we expected...it wasn't the pub we were expecting...rather more like a roomier bin 941. The drunken mussels were a tasty choice and we'll be back for the beer.
Try the mussels!. Great place for catching up with friends. It's not fancy but it has a solid menu, decent prices and the mussels menu is fantastic. Casual and great for drinks and larger portions.
A restaurant by any other name..... Love this place, have since it opened. Order the lightly seared tuna--oh my! Service is impeccable (shout out to Jenn and Han). No matter what name it goes by, it's great.
Love for Stella's. The restaurant is much bigger than it appears from the outside. The service is great and the food is always good. Perfect for lunch or afterwork drinks. I've never been here for dinner, but I'm hoping to soon! I recommend the pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese (may be only on the kids menu), and the mussles.
Belgian delight in our 'hood. Stella's is a short two block walk from our place and we find ourselves there often. It's a popular place to eat in the Cambie neighbourhood - usually when we're there it has the perfect mix of bustling, but not too busy to find a table.
The Belgian beer list is its claim to fame - it's like browsing a wine list and fun to order something different each time. They have mussels in 1/2 pound ($8) and full pound ($14) servings, and like the beers you could order a different flavour every time if you wanted - there are about 6 kinds. They're good quality, always piping hot and the flavour combos are imaginative without being weird.
Appetizers are also great - the bocconi salad, the beet salad and the arancini (fried risotto balls with cheese - yum!) are my favourites. We've ordered mains once or twice and they've been both huge and quite good.
Great place. Mixed clientele - young types, middle aged and up. Service is pretty good. I find the layout of the space a bit off for some reason, but that is only a minor quibble.
Surprised by the number of bad reviews. I've been there a few times and the food was pretty good.... not brilliant. But the last time I was there with family from out-of-town and we all loved it. Great food and really really attentive and helpful service. Thanks, Scot!!
Great place. Been to Stella's on Commercial, but this was the first time I tried the Cambie Stella. I loved it. Food was great and service was excellent. Really helpful and attentive and the food was served really fast and was hot and fresh.
We ate from the tapas menu and shared a bunch between the four of us. Mussels were really good. The fries are spectacular. The Indian chicken wings were fantastic. Only complaint would be that the calamari was a bit soggy and a bit oily, but everything else was really good.
We shared one really good dessert. It was the bread pudding and was a pretty good portion. We also had one bottle of wine and we were really satisfied. For that, the bill was a very reasonable $30 per person.
Really nice atmosphere too. I highly recommend this place for a fun, casual dinner with great service.
Great food. Eat the wings for sure. Lots of good tapas. Lots o beer to choose from as well.
Had two beers the other night that the bartenders recommended me, along with some fries. The fried were nothing special, but both beers had two of the most unique profiles ever. Thumbs up the staff, who sure know thier product.
Good food but the dessert was the best!. I realize that Stella's is known for it's beer and I had one (a Celis) and both my friend and I had the Angus Beef tenderloin. Both were good portions and the beef was perfectly cooked but the dssert was spectacular! Chocolate banana pudding with an espresso sauce and caramel apple crisp a la mode...shared and enjoyed by all!
We choose to eat on their patio to see more sunshine. I was really satisfied with their service very fast and super friendly with all smiles.
Options, Options, Options~ When you want to visit a bar that offers over 120 different Belgium and craft beers, local cask pourings, a regionally inspired menu of tapas and bistro food, "Biercraft" is my recommendation. As their name suggests they do beer and do things with beer. Beer is their craft. They offer 20 beers on tap and over 100 in bottle. If you can't decide on what you want you can "choose your own adventure". 4 beers in tasting size glasses, served in a handsome wood bar. This is the popular option and with it you get more bang for your buck. You try a little of each before you committing. A great way to get someone who is a little set in their ways to try something new. Most exciting is their offering of beer cocktails. Drinks made with beer as a pose to the traditional spirits we are familiar with. The one I tried was their "Frulini". It is their take on the "Bellini". But instead of sangria mix and wine, a fruity light beer goes in as your alcohol. In this case it was
Vancouver's Best Burger

Biercraft is a great little joint with two locations that offer up a quaint patio setting, an extensive beer list, and some quality eats. Not much else one can ask for.
Located on Cambie street, BierCraft Bistro is specialized in offering a wide range of Belgian beer, tapas, and European fares. I have to admit that I was somewhat intimidated to inquire about the beer list as I'm no beer expert and haven't got a clue. Nonetheless, our server was extremely friendly and informative in making several suggestions on the types of beer that would best suit our taste. Thi ordered the Maredsous triple, an abbey ale with golden and creamy body with a nice smooth finish. Pepe and I shared the Moinette Brune $20 with soft nose, caramel and herb undertones. It had a full body with a sweet finish and we really enjoyed it. Housemade potato chips to snack on while chucking down the beer. These are complementary, refillable, and..*munch munch.. super addictive! Since french onion soup is one of my all time favourite soups, I have to write about how good Biercraft's was. Made with emmental and edam cheese, and garlic crostini, the cheese was baked to golden brown, cris
What to do on a sunny Sunday? A few weeks ago, on an unexpected afternoon off, we headed out in search of a patio... We ended up at Stellas on Cambie, and had a beverage or two. Needing a few nibbles, we perused the menu and were delighted to find that th
We did not have reservations but the hostess was very pleasant and offered us a seat in their lounge while we waited.
I went to Stella's Tap & Tapa Bar for the first time a couple weeks ago, and wow, this place caught me by a surprise. Being my first time there, the word 'Bar' just make me think of sports TV, and nuts on the tabl
My friend and I wanted to take advantage of the sun which led us to the patio of Stella’s on Cambie. I’ve always liked the tapas and the drinks list there. It’s not the most innovative selection but the food is decent and I like the casual atmosphere.
When we are in Vancouver (not traveling) we almost always dine out at places we can walk to. But when we get invited to lunch meetings in various other neighborhoods around town it is always a treat for us to try somewhere new. Thanks to a meeting with Te
Brief Description: The second (and newest) addition to the Stella’s chain, the Cambie Street location is a stylish and comfortable bar with an extensive beer menu. A large focus on Belgian beers makes this bar the mother-ship for Vancouver beer-lovers.
Jenkins and I went out with his family one day to Stella’s on Cambie. When I tried to call and make reservations, I was told that they were not accepted. Luckily for us, when we arrived at about 7PM, there was only a short wait before we were seated. Prev
For Caitlin's 21st, we went to Stella's on Cambie. Since it is a popular watering hole/dining spot, they don't accept reservations past 330pm. The best thing you can do is to show up early and …wait. And wait we did. For an hour and a half. Now normally,
Stella’s on Cambie, located in the space formerly occupied by Tomato, is the sister restaurant to Stella’s Tap and Tapas Bar on Commercial Drive. Like the Commercial Drive location, they offer a wide variety of imported Belgian beer which compliment well
Was a spontaneous after work drinks session. Made it on time for the happy hour and was quite pleased with the service, price and quality of food. It's a beer place with a great selection but I was quite surprised how good the tacos were.
I really like this location. I come in every week or two and there are always new selections on tap....very nice selection of local brews and everything tastes fresh. Food and service are also great. See you soon.
Love this spot! Great service and very reasonably priced drinks. there was live music on Wednesday which really added to the warm atmosphere of the place. Also impressed by their ability to accommodate for plant based/vegan dietary restrictions so easily - will definitely be coming back!
The mussels were amazing! Our server suggested some French fries to soak up some of the mussel broth. That was a good call. The artichoke dip with taco chips was very good. The taco chips seemed home made and fresh. They were much thicker than your typical chips you would buy in a store. The selection of beer is outstanding!
The exterior renovation is very nice. I almost drove right past looking for the yellow building and sign. Much sleeker now. Loads of outdoor seating options which is very nice. Reliably good pub food. I had the beefy mac and cheese. Delicious and really stick to your ribs cheesy. The yam fries were perfect. My dining partner had his usual, the beef dip with a side Ceasar salad. It looked yummy too. Street parking usually not a problem. Great neighbourhood spot.
