If you grew up in Vancouver and you are Chinese, chances are, you’ve been to Sun Sui Wah for a wedding/baby celebration/any celebration etc. Soya sauce chicken: We weren’t planning on ordering this, but the waitress recommended it and said it was one of their best dishes. Well, she was right and we all enjoyed it! The chicken was well marinated, very tender and juicy.

4.3. Definitely one of the, if not top Chinese restaurant in Vancouver. We have been here for both dim sum and dinner, and found both excellent. Service is always top notch. You are paying for quality here, so be prepared to spend! Also, get here early if you can because it is always busy.

I honestly forgot to take photos of the food until dessert (tapioca pudding with red bean, which looks gross but don’t let appearances deceive you). C&J kept me liquored up all the way through, and I was kept busy with eating and conversation. There were the usual dishes of lobster, chicken, fish, at a Chinese full course meal. C&J added on sweet and sour pork as one of the dishes, which was unusual because it had lychee added into it. In my drunken haze, I remember that the chicken skin was very crispy, and the fried rice and yi mein was not too oily.

Had a gatherings  - a total of 4 people on a busy Saturday afternoon.  We ordered many dims sums such as : Prawn Dumplings, Pork Shrimp Shiu Mai, Beef Ten Tripe, Squid & Pig Skin (just a few small pieces of pig skin - a bit disappointed for this one), Pan Fried Sticky Rice (very good), Pan Fried Rice Rolls w. Soya Sauce (very good), Thousand Layer Sweet Cake (good).  Most of the dim sums were above average.

We order a plate of Buddha's Fried Noodles - this one was not good.  The noodles were too hard & not tasty, though lots of Siu Tong Veggies but just a few Buddha's veggies.

Overall comments  :  good and clean place with high ceilings, services were attentive; food was above average.  A good Dim Sum Restaurant to go if you do not want to drive to Richmond.

Sun Sui Wah and Kirin serve the best dim sum outside of Richmond. All the dishes we got were very fresh and delicious. The shrimp spring rolls were definitely the highlight of our meal.

Something about cold winter days and dim sum. I prefer Kirin over anything else in downtown, but that place without a reservation will most likely put you at 45 minutes wait. Ummm no thanks. The trick is to call ahead of time to reserve a table, I just always forget. Dimsum at Sun Sui Wah is pretty decent, we actually ordered three more dishes but I forgot to snap some photos, I was already enduring a food coma at that point. The restaurant is moderately large which is good for accommodating bigger groups. The service is good & fast. The quality is up to par with other dim sums in the area. I frequently dine here for family dinners, I don't find anything that special here besides the fact I don't have to wait for a table! Our meal was around $60-70, pretty standard for a higher-end Chinese restaurant.

They have a lot to choose from, and there are a surprising number of vegetarian options. The place also has a giant TV, which is pretty nice entertainment while you enjoy your food. I though the food was too oily, but a lot of Asian places tend to be quite oily. Other than that, I have no complaints.

Anyone who would look for dim sum in Vancouver knew where to get it at: right here. Sadly though, things have changed and not for the better. The service seems to have gone downhill, last time we went we were completely ignored and they were slow in changing the plates. Loved coming here esp when guests came from out of town but it seems the chef has been changed?

Sun Sui Wah is a solid Chinese restaurant featuring traditional banquet style Cantonese cuisine. And while there were few outright surprising dishes, what was offered was cooked perfectly and in a fashion that does Chinese food proud. An easy recommendation for anyone in the area.

Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant is a long standing, well regarded Chinese dining spot, although other reviewers have indicated that its best days may be over and that there are better (and cheaper) places to eat in Vancouver.  It features dim sum, but also has a wide variety of traditional Chinese dishes.  This is a dominantly Cantonese restaurant, my least favorite style of Chinese cooking (more on that later).

My wife and I went there for lunch with a friend and four of her relatives.  We had quite a few dishes:  Alaskan King Crab, Daikon Cakes, Duran Sticky Rice Balls, Eggplant with Stuffed Shrimp Paste, Fried Tofu, Hot and Sour Soup, Sesame Rolls, Short Ribs with Black Pepper Sauce, Shrimp and Chive Dumplings, Spicy Garlic Pork, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Thousand Layer Cake with Egg Yolk, Steamed Prawn Rice Rolls, Fish Fillet Congee, Tripe with Ginger and Green Onion, Sautéed Bitter Melon with Black Bean Sauce and Chicken Feet.  I thought everything, with the exception of the bitter melon, was quite good.  Others seemed to share my opinion of the bitter melon dish, since it was the only one not finished off.  Even the tripe was okay, and I don’t like tripe.  However, I found the overall dining experience to be somewhat less satisfying than I had hoped for.  Most of the food was somewhat bland.  Even the Spicy Garlic Pork had no kick to it.  Admittedly, I am a chile head and much prefer Sichuan cooking to the Cantonese fare we had here.  Having said that, this restaurant does serve up good food.  If spice is not your thing this is easily better than any Chinese place within 30 miles of my home city of Bellingham, Washington.

We eat a lot of Chinese food and I can definitely say that this is one of the best restaurants I've been to in awhile. The Peking duck was crispy and the lobster was fresh. I also tried king crab for the first time and it was amazing! Service was friendly and attentive.

Correct. I have given Sun Sui Wah a 5. This may seem outrageous, but it is the best dim sum I have had in the city. I have eaten at most of the dim sum places in Vancouver, and while many have merit, Sun Sui Wah is consistently the best. Their food is great – everything from their springrolls (which will change your world) to the prawn rice roll (which I often find to be fishy, not here). The ambiance is great too, and even though it is a bit more expensive, I love how clean and fancy it is for somewhere I consider to be a casual dine. The staff are always friendly and tentative.

I only ever go for dim sum. Have not tried their dinner menu yet. Tips for avoiding a line up: get there before 11:30 and you will not have to wait for a table! Dim sum is good, not the best, but for some reason I still keep coming back! The servers and staff are friendly and professional. I have been lucky enough to get the small room everytime. It is much more comfortable than being in the main dining area with 300 other people. Would I recommend it? Yes, but be prepared to pay a little more than most dim sum places in Vancouver

Reliably good.. I've been coming here for years with my family and each time, the food has ranged from good to excellent. Overall, I know that if I go there for dinner, I won't be going home with any complaints. There have been a few times when a dish came out overcooked, however, the staff never have a problem correcting any mistakes. The service is attentive and they always know when to provide new plates if the current one I'm using becomes dirty or too full of crab shells, etc.

Always A Delight. Not only does Sun Sui Wah serve great dim sum, it's dinner menu is equally, if not more, delicious.

The dim sum quality is comparable to that of Hong Kong's, the quality and freshness is always delivered.

As for the dinner menu, the roasted pigeon and the Alaskan king crab dishes are their forte.

Whenever we have guests from out of town, my parents always, without fail, bring them to this delicious restaurant.

Dim sum yum. This restaurant provides a great selection of dim sum. You can get dim sum almost anywhere in the city, but Sun Sui Wah has something that makes it tastes just a bit better than most other places. The food does not seem as greasy and it seems to have a wonderful fresh selection.

King crab delight. Although this is a very expensive treat i recommend everyone trying the king crab at least once! It really is there specialty and is so delicious. They cook it three ways for you. One is with steaming it with some garlic. Next, the take some of the crab and deep fry it with some hot peppers. It was surprisingly not oily. And finally they do a curry seafood rice dish with the remaining crab. Here's a tip: Ask them to cook the first crab dish (the one with steaming it with garlic) and use the "juice" left over to mix it with noodles. It isn't on their menu but they will do it for you! It's so yummy. Another must try dish is their squab! Another speciality. Everything else is so exquisite too but does not stand out as much as these too dishes. Also come back in June for winter melon soup season!

Delicious -- worth the wait. First off -- you WILL wait to be seated here for Dim Sum. There is no way of avoiding it. Sometimes I've waited 30 minutes, sometimes more than an hour. Plan ahead.

That being said, once you are seated, the food is delicious and table service is prompt. This is by far my favorite place for Dim Sum.

Hyped, but not without it's merits.. No, it's not the best dim sum you can find in Vancouver, but it is by no means bad, and they do have some notable dishes (namely, the steamed and pan-fried shrimp and chives dumplings).
The atmosphere and service are commendable, and if you're not there for the single purpose of analyzing the foods, yea. You can have a great time.

Dim sum experience. I really enjoyed the food at Sun Sui Wah, but the service was extremely slow. There were two points during the meal that we were ignored for at least 30 minutes. They also forgot to bring out one of our items entirely. The food was excellent, but I think I'll go back on a day when it's less busy.

Typical dim sum, a little oily. My favorite thing here is the mango pudding. It has real pieces of mango in it, so it's really really good. Everything else here is very typical dim sum stuff, tastes good, but very oily.

The food arrived quickly and was exactly as it should be. My favourite, the shrimp dumpling, came out of the bamboo steamer without tearing and had massive amounts of shrimp.

I enjoyed our visit, though I've been to other restaurants that are cheaper, have more variety or more daring menus this was a solid choice and I would return. And so would my mom.

...a favourite for my family and family friends (more than Red Star ) for dim sum as well as dinner. I prefer dinner over dim sum because the service for dim sum is horrible at both locations, unless I am with my family or at least 8-10 people in a room. The restaurant was also my friend's choice for a wedding dinner which was quite nice.  The restaurant's foyer has two sets of stairs that join in the middle leading to the restaurant. The interior is spacious, comfortable and clean, but not as "fancy" as  Kirin's   COCA COLA ($2.50) AND FRESH ORANGE JUICE ($6.50). The orange juice is $2.00 pricier than  Kirin's  and $1.00 pricier than Sun Sui Wah's Richmond location. THREE COURSE PEKING DUCK, ROASTED SQUAB, CREAM AND BUTTER SAUCE CRAB, AND SAUTEED FRESH SCALLOP WITH SHREDDED CONPOY AND VEGETABLE . ROASTED SQUAB ($12.80). The squab has a n

Sun Sai Wah has a longstanding reputation with many accolades and reviews, etc. Love it or hate it, it's just dim sum people, and it's allll good. I went bonkers over the mango pancakes. Fresh mangoes and whipped cream bundled up in a light crepe. My heart rate just increased. The baked tapioca pudding requires advance notice because it takes time to make, but it's worth it. And this is coming from someone who doesn't like tapioca. It's red bean, tapioca custard, and a boa loa bow top crust. For those in the know, that would be my attempt at saying "pineapple bun". I love Dim Sum. It's the perfect way to gather a gang of good folk and sample a wide range of snack-sized plates. There is a catch, however. Much like grocery shopping, if you do it on an empty stomach, you may buy too much. With four empty stomachs, it's inevitable. Sun Sui Wah is amongst the vanguard of Vancouver Dim Sum restaurants. If not the best, it is certainly one of the most popular. On a Sunday afternoon the place is teeming with several hundred diners and a small army of servers. Upon entering the room I was stunned at the sheer size of it and the vast amount of people. Luckily, one of my friends keeps his head shaved so it wasn't a problem finding our table. Gotta say, so far that's the best reason for keeping a clean melon that I've come across. Along with a colorful, pictorial version, there is also a menu checklist. With no time given for pleasantries or excess chit-chat, the list was attacked with abandon. I got me some serious, very hungry foodies here. First up, one o

Great Dungeness crab!!!😍 It was 3lb and the price was $27 per pound(probably it varies everyday). Before cooking, the staff showed me the live crab to confirm if it is the right size for me. I was happy to see the fresh crab and it took about 25mins to cook. While waiting, we ordered seafood fried rice and soup dumpling. For some reason, we could not find pricing in the menu. 🤔But we just ordered. Seafood fried rice turned out to be the best choice ever. The amount of seafood is so generous, and I loved the fish roe topped on the fried rice. The portion of the fried rice was also satisfying(good for 3people). Soup dumpling was disappointing compared to the one at Dynasty. Dumpling was already damaged before we ate. 😔So we could not enjoy the soup in them. However, when the crab was served, we forgot about the dumplings. The crab was deep-fried and it was full of crab meat. The crispy toppings on the crab was great. It did not ruin the natural crab flavor. I mixed the crispy toppings with the seafood fried rice. It became more enjoyable. After the satisfying meal, we ordered Mango pudding that is shaped as a wholesome corn. Even when it was served, I doubted if it was really Mango pudding, and after a bite, I was like "How clever!"☺️☺️ It was a real pudding and real Mango pieces were in them. And the milky sauce came with Mango pudding was also good. From now on, this place will be my spacial go-to restaurant !! I will come back with my loving ones ~😊

This always had been (and still is) my ‘go to’ favourite dim sum place to take out of town guests and friends. They have really stepped it up since Covid and are top notch when making sure customers stay safe. They check for ID & proof of vaccine. In addition, there’s a thermometer to check your hand’s temperature. Not sure how that works. There are many pros to this place: - Good quality and fresh food (the 4 of us pigged out on 16 dim sum dishes!). Group favourite was the crab claws and eggplant. - Tables are socially distanced from other tables - Good ambiance - Service is prompt - Complimentary parking is located downstairs with elevators taking you directly upstairs - Reservations are available Note: the corn on the cob photo is actually mango dessert! Delish! Definitely come here if you enjoy dim sum and/or want a great experience. You will be impressed!
