Highly recommend, I've been a few times now and the food has always been amazing. Middle Eastern food has never been my favorite but I really like this place. Highlight for me is the lamb.

Their dishes may be a tad bit on the pricier side, but the quality is definitely there and comes freshly made (you can see chefs making the dishes right at the front), so I think that the dishes aren't overpriced at all. The portions are good for the price, and the service is amazing!! Make sure to try their pita and hummus appetizer, along with the chicken kebab and lentil dish. The ambience is great, and is definitely a place I would come to again with friends or family.

Randomly dropped into this place and was PLEASANTLY surprised by EVERYTHING. I got the Warak and the salad. It was amazing. My only complaint is that I wish I got more! I also tried a new beer that I have never had and discovered my new favorite beer at the same time! :) I highly recommended checking this place out.

I looked all around Vancouver for kanafe. I found the best kanafe here. They serve it by piece only but whatever.. Soo good 😍

After a really disappointing night out at a new Turkish restaurant in the West End, my wife suggested coming here tonight, a reliable favorite, to get our Eastern Mediterranean fix. Yay...They are once again open for business after some renos.

I'm no expert on Palestinian food, but almost everything that I've tried since we started coming here has been delicious. Service is good. It's a small three person front of house, but friendly and well organized.

Tonight's specials were fried cauliflower appy and stuffed potatoes for the main. We ordered both and the freekeh with roast lamb. The cauliflower was lightly seasoned with cumin, served with pita and a zesty lemon and yogurt dip. Yummy flavours, but a touch greasy.

The freekeh is delicious every time. The roast lamb was tender, perfectly seasoned, and served in its own yummy jus. It also had a side of refreshing pickled red cabbage salad. No complaints about this dish.

The potatoes were stuffed with ground beef, served with rice pilaf and beet salad. The stuffed potatoes were good, the beef was nicely seasoned and was served piping hot. But, I found the rice to be on the salty side. I also did not like the green peppers in the rice, it added bitterness.

They are lacking in the dessert department, I would skip the sweets here next time. All in all, I was very happy with dinner tonight. Got my Med fix!

The hummus was the best I've ever tasted! It had a green parsley sauce with it that was a bit spicy and just added a lot of good flavour to the dish! I also ordered a rice and lentil dish, which wasn't bad. There was a party going on and the place was very packed. It was cozy, but very loud and cold. My friend enjoyed the lamb dish a lot.

Midweek visit. I am quite familiar with food from the region and was looking forward to it. I am hyper critical but ended up being humbled by the freshness and simplicity of the food. Hummus to start, served warm with specially made pita, thick but not filling, the spread was thicker than most but not heavy, almost whipped, very special. Fattoush salad, full of nice greens, stringy cheese and onions that were sweet. For a main, the cabbage rolls with chicken, 3 large cigar sized rice stuffed rolls, shredded beets, roasted tomatoes, roasted pepper and small greens with a thigh and leg that has been marinated in loveliness, finished in the oven for crispy skin then covered in sumac. The above was shared!!! and we were full. There were other diners that had ordered a main each and not one could finish it. If you order a main for yourself, do not get appetizers but what a waste, the appies we had were full of flavor and freshness. We finished with mint tea and baklava, made in house. We had a beer and a lemonade, with tax $54. I felt ,besides the great food, the value was great. All food is made fresh and feels like it was made from the heart.

I've been coming to Tamam for quite a while now and the mujadarah chicken is my LOVE. The service is consistently good and you can tell that the owners genuinely care about your dining experience.

FIrst Time...... but NOT the last!. What a wonderful little restaurant this is. Definitely not elegant, but WOW! The food is amazing. We started with The Humus with tahini, garlic, and olive oil - superb. We also had the Red cabbage salad with twisted cheese, toasted almonds and pine nuts - also superb. For entrees we shared the Halloumi Eggplant, the Mujaddarah rice, lentils and caramelized onions, and the fresh green cabbage rolls, stuffed with rice, tomatoes and parsley. Each dish was unique and flavorful. The portions were huge and regrettably we had to pass on dessert. But next time.....

Go Tamam!. Food presented beautifully - fresh, visually pleasing and so delicious! Service is warm. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable. I feel great that I am also exploring the world of Palestinian cuisine. It is definitely worth a try for the adventurous soul!

Definitely different to Lebanese and Israeli. When the leader of the "let's try this new ethnic restaurant" group I belong to picked Tamam for an excursion, I was intrigued. I wanted to see how Palestinian food compared to Lebanese, Israeli and Turkish cuisine, all of which I've eaten lots of. I don't know if Tamam is typical of ALL Palestinian kitchens -- ancient cultures develop many food facets over a couple millennia, after all -- but it was certainly a new twist on what's passed my lips.

As other reviewers have mentioned, Tamam's dishes are milder flavoured than the slap-you-in-the-face style of Lebanese food, with its za'atar, hot pickled items and other bold tastes. But it's not UNDER-seasoned. The lamb I had with freekeh -- small whole grains of wheat similar to bulghur, but more toothsome -- had a deep, slow-cooked flavour that made me flash on Australian "meat and three veg" roasts. The meat was soft, not grill-charred like most Middle Eastern lamb dishes. The freekeh was also suffused with meaty flavour, probably from cooking in juices from the roasts, and it had a smoky quality to the taste. Because Tamam touts its "made right here today" cooking stye, I'll assume that vibe came from meat juices, not a couple drops of Liquid Smoke seasoning.

Some of the food elements reminded me of Egyptian dishes I've had, especially the way Tamam uses lentils and other pulses. There are elements of Greece, such as my appetizer of grilled filets of haloumi cheese (similar to saganaki) on eggplant rounds. But Tamam's eggplant was sauteed tender, not just oiled and grilled the way Greeks would. Other items, especially the kunafah dessert -- fried haloumi coated in kataifi pastry shreds, then basted with syrup and rosewater, were unlike anything I've tried. Sweet breaded fried cheese! My tablemates thought it was an acquired taste -- even moreso because of its salmon-pink colouration -- but I dug it. I love novelty, and Tamam is a novel take on Mediterranean food.

Great Flavours. Halibut was perfectly cooked, not overdone, well seasoned with garlic and peppercorn. Really enjoyed the sides of lentils and rice, and salad. Roast lamb was very tender, toasted green wheat had a great nutty flavour, and the red cabbage salad balanced the meal with bright acidity. Liked the homemade hot sauce which I think had lime juice and garlic.

We had the dessert Kunafa dessert, which I thought was good. I liked the pistachios and honey and the rosewater flavour. I thought it was going to be more cheesy. Perhaps I expected too much from reading the reviews.

I'll be back to have the halloumi and eggplant salad and to try more dishes! It appears prices for lunch are lower but perhaps there are smaller portions too.

Tasty and simple. I guess the word is simple and delicious:)
The dishes here are not overly-flavored but are quite tasty and healthy.
One of the best eggplant dips to be had in Vancouver!

Their dinner prices are bit steep, 13.50 for a slow cooked chicken dish, but not by much , I guess.

The deserts are all very good, in case you have space for them:)

Phenomenal. I've eaten at Tamam several times now and tried a number of items. Everything I have ordered has been phenomenally good. It feels like home cooking from Palestine. The food isn't overly salted which is a common problem at middle eastern restaurants. The owners are really friendly and a pleasure to talk to. If decor us your thing then you may have a problem, personally I like that it's very unpretentious and more like a cafeteria. At dinner the conversation is loud and boisterious and feels like communal eating.

Tamam has shot to the top of my list for local restaurants.

Simple yet delicious. A completely unassuming place that I would of missed out on if I had not looked at all the great reviews.
This is the kind of the place I want to go where the food feels home cooked and like a lot of heart went into making each dish. I very much enjoyed the warak and the roasted eggplant with halloumi cheese. Plus the Majaddarah is fantastic!
So glad that we are able to kind great ethnic restaurants like this in Vancouver.

Catered delicious food for our party. Tamam prepared delicious stuffed grape leaves and assorted Sambusec for our garden party. What a hit! When I walked through the party serving this delectable finger food, my guests were chasing after me asking if they could have more!

It was also arranged and presented attractively, ready to go on the serving table.

Try them!

Great new addition to Gastown!. Amazing food, great addition to Gastown! We went in twice for lunch in one weekend, so yes, we loved it. Delicious Mediterranean food, fresh ingredients, really nice. The owner (Tamam) was very sweet and it is obvious she is passionate about sharing her delicious food. Everything is made in-house. Loved the Fresh tabbouleh, Grape -leaved burgers, Beans and rice, and chicken and beef Roti.

Tasty and delicious!. Tamam has catered for us in the past and we knew the food would be wonderful so we were very happy to find the same high quality and freshness at the cafe. The fish (tilapia) was cooked perfectly, tender and delicious, and the tabouli was great as usual! I will be back weekly to satisfy my cravings for these healthy and tasy delights.

Grayson and I have been passing by Tamam Palestinian Restaurant for the longest time and since he was FINALLY feeling adventurous one day, I was able to get him to go in with me.

Solarium at Tamam The name did not sound too enticing for me to try, but Tamam proved me wrong big time and is currently my most favourite restaurant. Her food is the dictionary definition of a good meal. It looks amazing, delicious, seasoned perfectly, tender, balanced, and good for you! Not to mention they were priced and portioned reasonably. Start with their tea selection, we got mint and lychee. Both were really nice to share in our tiny glass cup. The menu was straight forward, no reason to be confused. I got the Mujadarah (rice & lentil) with roasted lamb. It came with pickled red cabbage salad that tastes a little sour; it was fresh and helps cut right through the meat fat. The mujadarah was cooked perfectly, still has a bit of a bite and not mushy. My lamb was deliciously tender, herby, and yummy. hot sauce My favourite was the mujadarah and baked chicken though. Not only tender and juicy, but the chicken also was well seasoned all the way through the meat – which is a true tr

I've been hearing raving reviews about Tamam since it opened but yet to try it. And when I did, I went all out and took a group of lovely colleagues out to Tamam . A large group meant a feast and a feast meant I had a chance to try almost everything on Tamam's menu (and it was all amazing). Tamam serves authentic Palestinian food prepared by a lovely Palestinian owning family.  With Palestine a walking distance from Lebanon, you'd think the food will be the same.  It is the same in terms of what the food is, but the preparation and spicing is different enough to make this a truly unique eating experience even for me. And using Palestinian olive oil in the food (which is the best olive oil in the world in my books) just elevated the taste of everything even further. Most authentic humus and baba ghanouj in the city and all freshly made. The humus was warm (which meant the chickpeas were warm when smashed, a sign of freshly made). You could identify the taste of eggplants in the baba ghanouj, again a sign of freshly made. Generous amounts of olive oil and sumaq. Lots of fresh pita and the feast begun. A perfect Fatoush with tricks to learn - add chopped shallots, lots of salt and oil and sesame seeds. But the star of the appetizers was the Halloumi Eggplant. Fried eggplants served with grilled haloum and soaking with zaatar and olive oil.  A perfect flavour combination that I will be trying at home soon. The meat mains are slow cooked, well spiced and elegantly presented. But my favourite was the Freekeh that came with it. No idea how it was cooked, but way better than any Freekeh I tried making at somerville kitchen. The stuffed grape vine leaves is where the real difference between Lebanese and Palestinian stood out. Rolled in a ball, spiced with more than my salt and pepper and cooked with tomatoes. The same variation went for the stuffed cabbage rolls.  Too stuffed for dessert, but who could resist these home made baklawa's packed with pistachios and generous amou

This is my special corner. I love the light in this sun room. Tamam Fine Palestinian Vancouver on 2616 E Hastings Street. There are not many high quality Middle Eastern restaurants in Vancouver. And although I hold Nuba dear to my heart – you simply can not have it on heavy rotation too much. I don’t want to ruin it to become same-same. If you are not on a look out for Tamam, it could be easily missed- hidden amongst groceries, markets and coffee shops. We came to Tamam after a dear friend’s recommendation. Prices here are fairly priced. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is neighborly.     The sun room where we dine grows fresh herbs which Tamam Fine Palestinian uses in their dishes. Mint, rosemary, lavender, cilantro, etc. They even have an olive tree. The olive tree can be finicky to grow.       Hummus 5.50: chickpeas, tahini, garlic and olives oil. We liked the herb garnishes and pepper flakes. Tamam’s hummus is served warm with a side of hot sauce. The hot sauce is a puree o

boldly understated :Commercial: I have a feeling I will be back in this area, on repeat.  Last night I joined the sister and her peeps, Raulie and Yertle . Raulie pointed out more restaurants than I had time to paw into my iPhone. The sister trusts Raulie's opinion, after Tamam , I do too. I have now moved their suggestions to the top of my List. My growing List prompted me to start prioritizing so I created a system  about an hour ago. Let me share. A t the top is ' need to try' - as in if I don't eat there soon I'm a food-blogging-fraud. Then there's ' nice to try', then ' eventually try', which is mostly a mish-mash of recommendations that sound okay, but likely won't blow my mind.  Finally, there's ' pretend to try' - a handful of restaurants I wrote down out of politeness but could care less. I don't trust the people who offered them because they over-analyze and are more eager to participate than educate. Regardless my system is a testament to the fact there are so many (maybe to
