Always a great place for a get together with family and friends. Service always excellent.
Best gnocchi in town. I would love if they would add gnocchi Gorgonzola!!
Amazing pizzas and always a favourite with the kids and their pizza oven!!
The casual atmosphere, warm and personable staff, and great location...combined with delicious Pasta and Pizza, make this a must visit spot on Commercial Drive.

The absolute best Italian Food next to my
Moms. Will never eat at any other Italian Restaurant. The food was amazing!!
It’s always a pleasure to visit & eat at this resto. They’re always consistent with the menu. Staff are friendly & courteous.
Great place , great food , & great service ! Would definitely go there again !
The best pizza 🍕 in Vancouver - viva la capriciosa
The mista salad dressing is amazing and I have not been able to figure it out yet
Great food and great service... if you want to impress someone this is the place to take them.
Only the best ingredients are used in the dishes here, so the price are a tad higher because of this but well worth it.
One of the best, if not the best original Italiano pizzas in GVRD. Highly recommended and never a dis-satisfied moment there!
Marcello’s is one of the staple restaurants along Commercial Drive! I’ve been here a few times in the past, and wrote a review on their takeout last summer. My experience here has always been positive so I was happy to come back when I was invited by the restaurant for dinner!. Marcello’s is located on corner of Commercial and Kitchener. The restaurant layout is long and a bit narrow, but it still fits a good number of people and suitable for larger groups.
Marcello Ristorante & Pizzeria is a charming Italian restaurant located on Commercial Drive. Marcello’s takes pride in providing an authentic Italian experience for Vancouver locals. They have an enormous Neapolitan style wood-burning oven in the centre of the restaurant and they make all of their pasta in house.
The service and ambiance here are both excellent. Pasta portions are large and always fresh and tasty. The salads are big enough for two people to share.
Located on Commercial Drive, this Italian restaurant not only serves good tasty pizzas, its pasta are just as good. Came here for an early dinner, sitting outside on the patio when the sun was still out and it was still kind of warm although the heater was on too. . Our pastasBacon carbonara
This place makes a calzone that will change your life.
Daniele probably the best/nicest server I've ever had. Beautiful patio seating. Will continue coming back.
Wow this place was so good. I especially enjoyed their calzone and pasta dishes. Yum Yum, writing this review just makes me want to come here again. It's really cool how the pizza is baked on a wood burned fire and you can just watch the chef make it in front of you.
The Pasticciati ($14.95) is a gnocchi that's sauteed in a cream and meat sauce. It looked stunning and judging from the reaction on my coworker's faces, they all loved it. Overall, Marcello completely exceeded my expectations and I have to say it's up there for authentic Italian cuisine in Vancouver!
We all ended up getting a Mascarpone Cream ($9.50) because they were highly recommended and I would absolutely say the same. It's fat in a glass but I didn't care at all. Every single bite of that cream along with the soaked lady fingers were heaven. I would come back just for this dessert alone.
Service was rather curt compared to Famoso’s welcoming environment. I would have liked to enjoy myself more, but maybe eating pizza again in the same day might have ruined our experiences here. I would like to come back again and try their pastas as well to give a much fairer verdict. Overall, Famoso won this battle and stole our hearts that night.
Excellent Italian!. Possibly the best Italian food I've had at a restaurant. The pizza crust is light and bubbly and the gnocchi is like eating clouds! So fluffy! I'd definitely go back.
Italian.. yes!. Just a quick review.. the atmosphere is lovely, clean and decorated tastfully. as soon as you walk in it smells delicious. i had a table of four and although the place seemed insanley crowded for a wednesday night, we were seeted within 5 minutes. the wait for food was not long at all and i have no complaints about the food. i recomend it and would love to go again!
Great Pizza...ok service. We came here for my birthday dinner this year because my son is a HUGE pizza fan and wanted to try some authentic wood burning oven pizza. I was told that the chef's do the whole dough tossing thing here too...my kids were really excited to see that, but it didn't happen. We arrived right at 5pm to beat the dinner crowd. Despite being only the second table of diners, the service was horrible. The host barely looked at or spoke to us. My water was re-filled once. The pizza was awesome though. We all loved it. But the service left a bad taste in my mouth.
Chef salad and appy was great but the pizza was plain jane. Like the interior and service was very good.
So amazing!. I absolutely love the pizza and pasta here ! unfortunately i find the service a little unpleasent but the food well makes up for it! i cant wait to sit on their newly renovated patio this summer! :)
Good. My husband and I really enjoy going to this place. Its a little over priced but the food's really good. See you soon for another lovely date night Marcello Pizzeria.
Great food, service getting better. I've been going here for years. I always come back for the food as the service has been very inconsistant. But lately the service is better. Don't expect good service, just good enough. New entrance is much better. Pizza is good but expensive. I always have the vongole or polo picante; so good.
I'd be a Regular. On our way out of town around noon, hungry and wanting to avoid the (too) many brunch options (AKA bacon and eggs), we thought Commercial Drive would provide some choices. Sushi was out but pizza sounded just right.
We had been to Marcello before and only for pizza. Couldn’t see any changes in décor. Service was quick and friendly and the house only had about eight customers. I could see the pizza chef was behind in his prep and was busy putting out “to go’s so we waited a little longer for our za, but not bad. It came out hot with plenty of toppings made in two different halves, one for wifey, one for me. Nice thin crust and the size was perfect for two mid-day appetites.
I like this place and I’m not alone. Our last visit was on a Saturday night and it was packed. I don’t think I’d go on a weekend night again. Beware the self-validating posters (“I really know Italian food cause I once had a two hour layover in Rome“). This is a great neighborhood joint in a great neighborhood!

Molto Delizioso !. I am not going to lie... I have had my issues with the service here. However I do recommend sitting at the bar, quick seating, comfortable chairs, and a friendly woman bartender. I usually enjoy one salad, one pasta dish, and a small pizza with my family in order to taste a bit of everything.
Chef's Salad ---> One of the best salads I have ever had... loaded with ham, egg etc
Carbonara -----> cream sauce but not heavy in application..... soooo yummy and full off good stuff :)
Pizza ----> I have had a few different kinds but I would recommend one with baking cheese on top (unique Italian cheese almost a mix bet sour cream and cream cheese).
w/o drinks our bill came to about $42.00 dollars total for 3 adults to have a complete dinner ! Spending a lot is not necessary if your order right !!!! ENJOY
Good stuff. I drive all the way from Delta just for the Spaghetti Carbonara ... enough said.
It was really really delicious! We stayed away from the pizza which is thier specialty and went with pastas instead. The clam spaghetti, creamy tagliatelle (? Spelling) and picante chicken. All were tasty choices!! We'll definitely be back for more!
Fantastic pizza, in a very stylish place. I love the big oven face. The crust in their pizzas here is always so beautiful, slightly rustic, perfectly cooked. And so many great topping choices. Just don't get lost in the menu drooling over what pizza to get. The only criticism is maybe the service. They have always been friendly, but can be really slow. Especially bringing the bill - I shouldn't have to ask for it, and you would think they want to improve the turnover. They could fix this with an extra server.
Good fast pizza.. Had a couple of slices of veggie pizzas here while working in town. A quick tasty lunch option.
Food was good and the price was average. The pizza is good, it's good that they can do half/half on the pizza and get 2 kinds in one pizza. I find the service to be slow, even ordering wine, we still also want water, which took a long time to get refilled. It's a good group restaurant where they can accommodate larger parties! The calamari was decent and portion was good.
Good food, bad service. Their pizza was good despite the crust not being quite as crisp as I'd have liked, their pasta is delicious as well. However, despite the fact that the restaurant wasn't very busy when we were dining, the waitstaff were slow with everything and unenthusiastic.
Great pizza. Yummy thin crust, nice space
Not as good as it once was. Still go back but sadly it just does not have the same oomph as it used to. I used to make the effort to go from Kits but I don't find myself making the effort anymore
Great pizza,,. I love this pizza, very authentic, tasty. The only thing I can say negative though is it is very pricey and the service can be sometimes poor and slow. On occasions we waited for almost half hour for our bill and then more time to pay it.Also it is overpriced...for a large it is 28$.I also have ordered Ensalada Misto many times and for the price the portion is way to small for liking.
My Drive Favourite. I moved here post divorce drama - so I know there are those who took the "other" side and will only go to Lombardo's. Poor them - the food at Marcello's is SOO much better. Their gnocchi is so authentic it's amazing.
The service is spotty, at best. And the atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired. BUT - Marcello is our very own soup nazi right on Commercial Drive. Just watch him scowl at the waitresses and be entertained. Or better yet - compliment him - it's hilarious!
Mama mia!. Bustling and raucous when full, but cavernous when not. The food is basic and tasty. Pity about the service (but what do you want when there's so much wait staff turnover because the chef has his hands on other things than the food ...). Good pizza, fine salads. Not though a place for those with a conscience about professionalism!
Okay folks, if love, romance, and most importantly pizza pies is what you’re after – look no further because Commercial Drive is your answer.
Having our hearts set on Italian, we turned to commercial drive and the well known “Marcello’s”. I have never had a meal here that I didn’t like. I always leave full with plenty of leftovers for the following day. Plus with their larger dining area I was almost certain we could get a table without reservations on a Saturday night. Not only were we seated right away, but our server approached us within minutes and our food came shortly after. Maybe it was because of their efficient team, or maybe it was because we had expressed our immediate hunger. Either way we were thrilled to be eating after searching for a place like this a good 45 minutes before. It was a large open space that narrowed towards the back, tapering into a thin hall. And it was within this thin hallway that we were seated. Had we been willing to wait, maybe we wouldn’t have to settle on table all the way in the back, right by the restrooms. Though depending on the person, this area wasn’t all that bad. It was a
This restaurant is on the corner of Commercial Drive and Kitchener. It’s got character with iron bar gates on the front door facing Commercial (which isn’t used as a door) and high ceiling with chandeliers made from wine bottles. It gives it a bit of hipster-ish feel, but without the run-down feel. It was cozy and had a really nice atmosphere. We were there for lunch, and I had the Chef Tagliatelle with sauteed mushrooms, black olives and capers in a creamy tomato sauce $14.95. I knew that their signature dishes were the pizza, but I just love pasta that I couldn’t resist. I also had a slice of the Prosciutto pizza with tomato sauce, mozarella and ham $13.95 (for medium) The medium was quite a large portion, and very good price. It had a thin crust that was baked just right. I was pretty impressed and knew I had to bring Sheepie who has become picky with pizza after traveling to Italy this fall. Their pizza is baked in their wood fire pizza oven – and it’s not just an ordinary oven. It’s shaped in a face of a human, where the oven is the opening of the mouth of the person. Very unique! Again, adds character to this restaurant. Unique fire pizza oven!! My pasta was very good as well, though it was slightly dry so that all the noodles stuck together. Good portions, and I couldn’t finish it all, so I had the left overs packed up. Service was satisfactory. The music was a bit loud, making it sometimes hard to hear each other clearly, but then again, I complain about this with many places…lol. Chef Tagliatelle with sauteed mushrooms, black olives and capers in a creamy tomato sauce $14.95 Prosciutto pizza with tomato sauce, mozarella and ham $13.95 We all had coffee at the end, one cappucino, espresso and a latte for myself. I had been disappointed to return from Europe with all the great lattes over there only to return to Vancouver with very expensive but not good coffee drinks. But this latte was pret
The combination of good food, nice atmosphere, and reasonable prices makes Marcellos one of my favorite pizza places in town. Not to suggest that Via Tevere, Pizza Farina, or Nicli Antica serve a lesser product. They each have terrific pizza, but Marcellos holds a special place in my list of favorites simply because they’ve been doing for so much longer than the others.
Work friends decided to have our own Christmas dinner/gathering on top on the annual workplace party. G, having been all around town, decided on Marcello on Commercial. As he said, it’s Italian and most people enjoy Italian (except me that is haha).
Such an amazing place. Love the food. Peter was our server, who did an excellent job. He was very attentive and at the same time he was giving us enough time to enjoy the food and time. We are really glad that we get to celebrate our friends birthday at this wonderful restaurant. Their pizzas are so delicious. Must try this place.
We are still here and about to leave. Cant wait to post a happy review of the place.
We were assisted by Mina and she gave us an excellent service, good recommendation to our ordering which we are super happy. Had a short friendly conversation too.
Happy music, good vibes, good food. Cant ask for more. We will definitely be back even if we live far from East Van. 😉
Sophia S was Amazing! She was attentive, and very helpful, with our order for dine in, as well as, our takeout order. We enjoyed the Capricciosa Pizza. Delicious!
The dough was not over worked, and was a great bite, and mouth feel. We were seated by the kitchen, and by looking at the other plates, we will definitely be back!
We enjoyed the variety of pasta that we ordered and our server was awesome. The food did take over 25 minutes to arrive but it was all worth it. Definitely coming back for more of the lasagna.
Omg awesome 🤩 my children 👨🏽👧🏽 👨🏽👩🏽 surprised me with lunch 🥗 🍱 reservations here. I haven’t been here before, but wanted to go. It is so nice 😊 inside and the food 🍱 🍝 🍛🍝🍲🧆was so tasty and I had something I never had before. The staff was friendly and service was good 😊 it was busy on Mother’s Day 😊 flowers 💐💕
Love the pizza so much!!!!
Update:
5 stars—>4 stars
The washroom smell insanely bad. Some kind of strong chemical smell. I almost throw up. An amazing lunch got ruined at the end:(
I will still recommend the pizza tho. Just avoid their washroom.
