I had the Pork Belly Benedict on 1/2 greens 1/2 potatoes this morning. OMG it was so delicious I didn't want it to end. I can honestly say this was the best breakfast food I have had for as long as I can remember. The service was also good. No complaints at all. I will be back.

Ordered Chicken & Waffles and 2 egg Benedict. Chicken waffles only come with 4 small pieces of chicken, not a big portion like Tuc Craft and not as good as before ( year or two ago).
Egg Benny - sauce is good, eggs are cook perfect. Must order side truffle-lemon hashbrowns, taste very good but can be a bit salty.

Heard of Yolks many time.  A breakfast restaurant.  It's quite far from where we live, so we never went as people need to line up before it opens in order to eat there.  We were just too lazy to wake up at 6 or 7 to line up.  Luckily, we wre passing by around 2:30pm in the afternoon and saw it still open.  There were no more customers as they close at 3pm.  We thought they wouldn't serve us anymore, so we turned around to leave.  However, they said they could still take our order.  Very lucky of us.

• very good server, Anton!
• efficient service
• Food: 4/5!!!

At the new Yolks on 1598 E. Hastings, we settle our bill and the young server (dubbed The Dreamboat on our receipt) pipes up: “Have you guys been to our old location?”

EGG-cellent food, as always, and the hostess was awesome in getting us a spot so soon (there is usually at least a 30 min wait)

What bugged me this time was that our server is quite rude and scary.  Not long after we were seated, another waitress dropped an entire fresh plate of food.  You can tell she was embarrassed and was apologising profusely to her customers.  What did our server do?  She muttered something along the lines of "I guess thats what happens here", threw her hands up, and rolled her eyes before walking away.   Everyone was trying their best to help, but apparently, an accident is unacceptable to her.  (I mean, even if it was, do it behind closed doors, not in front of a room full of customers!)

When it was our turn to start ordering, she was very impatient and I felt that if I say anything wrong or unclear, she would give me a glare.   Midway while describing the feature of the day, she was interrupted by some noise and again, rolled her eyes.   After our food came, she suddenly came by, all happy and bubbly, and asked how the food was tasting.  Weird.

When it was time to get our bill, our server literally threw our receipts on the table and didn't say anything.  Not even a "oops, sorry!".   She gave us the credit card machines and two of us literally have to type in the amount ourselves, pay, tear the receipts off etc.

Honestly, the worst service from Yolks I had (caught me completely off-guard).  But again, the food was great and the hostess was awesome!

A lot like Red Wagon close to Hastings and Nanaimo but with a menu that changes more often. Expect a line-up on a weekend morning. Building is old and smells old- but the inside is homey with a lot of nice, fun art by local artists. Serve interesting alcoholic brunch drinks. This place will not disappoint the breakfast food and brunch enthusiast.

Decent spot for brunch in town! Understandable wait time for a seat. Well chosen ingredients as well.

The lemon truffle hash is unique enough to delight but familiar enough to be the comfort food we all want on the weekend.

I took today off from work to make it an extra long weekend along with the Canada Day stat holiday (yay Canada!). My brother’s wife wanted a good brunch so I suggested Yolks on East Hastings. We arrived the restaurant at around 11am and it’s already about 80% full. I didn’t take a photo of the interior as it’s a rather simple restaurant with minimal decor (at least for the East Hastings location), which I think it’s completely fine, as long as the food is good.

the food was delicious. we ordered french toast and eggs benny. both were good!! french toast was quiet weird tho. but after keep eating that, it made us feel delicious which was awesome!!:) and the benny was great too. I think they make the hollandise sauce in the house. However, the service wasn't that good because it was really busy... nobody asked us that "how is the food or refill the coffee .etc.".
but!! still food was great:)

My favorite brunch place in Vancouver! If you haven't gone and tried their infamous truffle-lemon hashbrowns, then you are terribly missing out! This is the place that made me a believer in adding truffle oil to any potato dish I make at home. Every thing comes in good, hearty portions so you can easily share and try everything with a friend or a special loved one. My usual order is the double-smoked bacon bennie and their chicken & waffles, with a large side of truffled hashbrowns. How can you resist a runny, poached egg on top of thick bacon slices and a toasted English muffin? Or crisp outside yet chewy inside waffles paired up with crunchy-coated, organic fried chicken and gravy, all drizzled with maple syrup? Add a pitcher of iced Callebaut hot chocolate, or hot chocolate with Kahlua, or maybe a nice glass of mimosa for the perfect brunch!

This place is worth it for the decor (clever Pop Art) and truffle hashbrowns alone!  Their menu features a flowchart (catnip for us nerds).   Very rich and tasty food, but smallish portions.  (One of us had chicken & waffles, one of us the pork belly benny, and two of us ordered from the flowchart...)  Mushroom add-on was our favourite.  Suggest you go put your name on the list and head to Starbucks or nearby Gourmet Warehouse and check out awesome kitchen gadgets while you wait :-)

Chicken waffles are a nice change of pace, generous piece of fried chicken on top of a fluffy waffle and smothered in a dreamy gravy.
First time here , I had to try the lemon truffled potatoes , daughter said "Mom I love these as much as your hash browns. Nobody makes them as good as you or here." Aww sniff sniff😘.
They are to die for , the combo of the flavours are intoxicating!
Only downside is we were charged for our fruit salad 🍉on top of the waffle order and didn't get it. Already left the restaurant and noticed the booboo after that, oh well

Servers here are awesome. They're so upbeat and friendly. Food is quite flavorful, generous amounts too. I really enjoyed the truffle hash browns with aged white cheddar. The bottomless coffee was sour though and atmosphere was kinda dingy but a bit hipster. Recommended to go on weekdays if you can. Line ups are over an hour on weekends if you don't go early (before 9am).

The best way to describe our experience at Yolks is: solid.
We had a nice server who was not amazing, nor was she offensive in any way. We had food food that was not mind blowing, but had nothing wrong with it.
I ordered the stack of pancakes (5 small-medium sized pancakes), with side of fruit and bacon/sausage. Bacon/sausage was good served on a spicy mustard. The pancake was good. The fruit was a fresh assortment with a lot of variety.
My husband ordered the chicken and waffles with an egg on the side. He always orders chicken and waffles whenever it is available at a breakfast joint. They came with some gravy on them which he said made it more "savoury" than "sweet" as he usually finds his chicken and waffles to be. He didn't complain about it, but he didn't rave about it.
You won't be disappointed, but I don't know if it will draw you back time and time again.

You’ve got to check out Yolks. The whole restaurant its self is amazing. The food is great and the service is wonderful. They have really nice servers at Yolks and so is the owner. Inside the restaurant is a machine that literally squeezes oranges to make orange juice. It tastes great. Above is some pics of the food. The first 1 is their Egg Benedict, the second dish is the hash browns, and the last picture is their pancakes. The presentation and creativity is super. The only bad thing I can say about Yolks is that it is quite busy between 9 AM-1 PM. Otherwise I would say that their food is top notch. You’ve got to eat here.

Recently had breakfast at Yolks and ordered the pork belly benny with a side of lemon truffle potatoes (wish I could have ate more but I was stuffed!). The egg was cooked perfectly soft and gooey and the amount of pork belly was generous. My friend ordered chicken (moist and crisp) and waffles (fluffy).

Yolk's is where everyone wants to get breakfast, brunch, and lunch at.  Their wait-list can take up to 2 hours before you'll be seated during their peak hours (11-12).  Located 1298 E Hastings Street, they are in the midst of many factories, almost in the middle of nowhere, and yet they still manage to attract people from all over Vancouver.

Taste: they really like their citrus.  Two of the egg oriented dishes I have gotten, Eggs Benny and Croque Madame (lower plate), have had an a very pungent citrus taste.  It is very unique to Yolk's, but after the first bite it can be a bit overpowering.

Croque Madame was their house special when I went and was almost everyone's order that day.  It's composed of two pieces of toast with two Canadian Bacon (ham, lol), and a single poached egg on top all drizzled in sauce.  Their sauce has a special flavour and the taste can take over the rest of the components on the plate.  I believe the poached egg is meant to be cut into and the yolk is supposed to act as a second secret sauce to balance the tartness.

Their Eggs Benny is essentially a baby version of the Croque Madame.  English muffin with Canadian bacon and a pouched egg all drowned under hollandaise sauce.  You can choose where you'd like 1 or 2.  Their Eggs Benny was also accompanied with their special sauce, which gave it a citrus kick.  I recommend ordering this with hashbrowns (extra cost) as there was extra sauce leftover.

The Chicken Waffle is probably my favourite dish from Yolk's.  Two pieces of chicken on two pieces of waffles all drenched under sweet maple syrup, yum.  It's a classic, and they got it right.  They are very generous with their maple syrup as you can see (top plate), and is sprinkled with icing sugar.

Price: fairly standard compared to most breakfast places, and like many, their drinks menu will definitely take a toll on your wallet.

Really busy since a lot of people seem to enjoy going in groups here on a Saturday morning. However, since I went with only one other person we got seated right away. The menu was pretty interesting with the flow chart method of ordering, makes it easier to understand. I ordered the portebello mushroom eggs Benny with a side of truffles mushroom hash browns. It was delicious, though I suggest if you aren't that hungry just to get one egg over two or else you'll be super full.

The second location of the famous Yolk's Restaurant opened up on November 17th on Broadway and Cambie. It's a 30 second walk from the Broadway City-Hall skytrain station (Canada Line) and the lineup can be upwards to an hour if you go during their peak times. My girlfriends Fonzor, Rae, Sis, and I came here at about 11am on a Sunday and the place was completely PACKED. We were told our wait would be an hour long but we could leave our name/phone number and when the table was ready, we'd get a text. I loved that system because we were able to go warm up and chat at Starbucks without waiting outside in the cold!

There is a good reason crowds are lined up for this joint!
With it's simple menu, unique combinations and fresh sourced ingredients- it's a indie-diner of your dreams! The hashbrowns are flavorful and crispy, and this is coming from someone who typically despises HB's. Now the benny's are what they're known for and I was salivating at the sight of them, but I went with the chicken & waffles for the sake of novelty. Not disappointed in the slightest.
Something everyone should try at least once!

With an eclectic mix of art on the walls in an otherwise unremarkable space, Yolk's is very much a diamond in the rough. In this case, the diamonds are eggs benedict, and they really are exceptional. Don't be out off by the flowchart menu, it's actually pretty straightforward. Try the ABC (avo, bacon, cheddar) benny with a side of the excellent hash browns.

I have a friend I see rarely, but when we do meet we meet over breakfast. She knows her Vancouver breakfast places and suggested Yolks. I discover Yolks was in the old Brave Bull building at the intersection of Clark and E. Hastings. That fact almost made me change my mind: Brave Bull had a terrible reputation for filth and vermin. If you know about that reputation, don't let that put you off.

Yolk's decor is basic and functional, but it was clean and the staff were very friendly. The place was also packed within 10 minutes of opening up. I had the eggs Benedict. Great hollandaise sauce, perfectly soft poached eggs, tasty truffle oil hash browns - fantastic benny. Not cheap but definitely worth it.

Not sure when my friend and I will meet up again for breakfast but I will be suggesting Yolk's for sure.

Had breakfast at yolks today. I waited a long time to be able to visit on a weekday when it's not so busy. No wait at all. Three of us had the Benedict. And B had the chicken and waffles. I enjoyed my time there and the service was great, but I don't know if I'd go back on a weekend because I don't think it would be worth the line up. Definitely worth a try on a weekday.

Breakfast is one of my favorite meals of the day. I am usually looking forward to what my first meal will be. Yolk’s started out as a food truck and then moved on to opening up a restaurant on East Hastings & Clark. Just this week, they opened their second restaurant location on Broadway. They specialize in breakfast and are open til 3 pm most days. The food truck is still in operation and that’s where I initially fell in love with Yolk’s.

One of the popular breakfast places in Vancouver. Always expect a line up during the weekends! I mean there are people lining up before they are even opened. Anyways, we went very early cuz we didn't want to wait and we ordered the egg Benny's and French toast. Their food is decent but I find that they can be quite inconsistent.. I ordered the egg Benny's a few times and sometimes the eggs were done great with a oozy creamy yolk, but sometimes they are over cooked. Their hash browns are very popular here, cuz of the lemony truffle flavor. But they are also inconsistent, as they were very over cooked once and almost burnt. However when their food is done right, they are delicious!

While the inside of Yolk’s is rather plain looking, it has a bright and homely atmosphere. The staff at Yolk’s are friendly and full of personality. The food here is also pretty good. I like that you get to customize your bennies ($7.50 for 1 egg, $10.25 for 2 eggs). I got the double smoked bacon with arugula, poached egg, hollandaise, on an English muffin with a side of truffle lemon hash browns (+$1) and Okanagan Valley goat cheese (+$1). My favourite part of the plate was definitely the truffle lemon hash browns. Now my first bite was really lemony and sour. Sunshine agreed. It left us wondering “why the lemons?” But once we dipped the hash browns into the spicy ketchup, it sang a perfect sonnet. The sourness was neutralized and all the other flavours were brought out. They were simply addicting. The benny on the other hand was good, but not mind blowing. I didn’t think the goat cheese was worth the additional dollar considering how I only received a tiny sprinkle on my benny, which I barely tasted. The bacon was crisp and smokey, but all the other components were just average. As we were eating, one of the ladies stopped by our table to check up on us and noticed that our eggs were slightly less runny than they should’ve been. Sunshine and I said that it was okay, but she immediately told us that overcooked eggs at Yolk’s are not alright and that she’ll send us new eggs. That was super kind of her. Our eggs arrived promptly and the lady jokingly said that she'll beat up the chefs in the back of the parking lot later on in the day. I gotta say that the runny egg really did make a difference to our bennies. But unfortunately, we only had a few bites left by that time. Sunshine and I were pretty full after cleaning off our plates, especially Sunshine who ordered 2 eggs and ended up with 4. Hahah

If you can appreciate a good poached egg you will be happy! The orange juice is squeezed on site too early to watch however the machine that does it is too neat to not have a look at. Go and enjoy The only reason they didn't get a 5 is that you wouldn't believe me potentially! I'll be back!

By Nancy July 22, 2015 American, Breakfast / Brunch, British Columbia, Canada, FOOD, Vancouver No Comments. Yolk’s Breakfast Vancouver started as a powdery blue food truck in downtown Vancouver; just outside the Stadium Skytrain station, on the corner of Dunsmuir and Beatty. Since then, Yolk’s Restaurant And Commissary has taken over the corner of Hastings and Clark where Brave Bull House of Steaks used to be. The space has cleaned up a bit but definitely not somewhere you would call fancy! On any given Sunday (and Saturday), there is a huge line up outside for Brunch and Breakfast. Everyone wants to indulge in sinful desires.

Heavenly truffled potatoes. Great service, the wait can be a bit long but they usually seat people earlier than the expected wait time. The truffled hashbrown potatoes are a must try as a side along with the eggs benedict! I recommend asking for some homemade raspberry jam to go along with your english muffin - it's also amazing and free too! Get a full order of the hash - you won't regret it, make sure to try it with their spicy ketchup!

One of my favourite brunch places. Their parmesan truffle potatoes never disappoint. I also like the set up of their menu where you can basically build your breakfast to your liking. I usually go for 2 eggs, aged cheddar (vs hollondaise which is also really good but I love my cheese), portobello on either their potatoes or on an english muffin. Never disappoints. They also do a mean chicken and waffles with the perfect ratio of maple syrup to gravy. On top of all that they do freshly squeezed orange juice and mimosas. WIN!

This one has been on my list for quite a while, however I never find myself awake early enough to catch their breakfast/brunch service or up early enough to attempt locating their roaming food truck. It was a rainy day, but that didn’t stop anyone from entering the baby blue and pale yellow building. If I had to colour “breakfast” those would be it. 1pm on a Tuesday afternoon and the place was full, or at least appeared to be full, with couples paired off patiently by the door and the delay of clearing tables for new diners to be seated. With nothing else to do but to wait, I couldn’t help but to scrutinize their process. There was no sense of urgency here, there was no system to say who was doing what, and no attempt to maximize the work that needed to be done. They weren’t working efficiently. It wasn’t like the dining room was slammed, there were no big parties and with four servers floating across 20 or so half seated tables, they weren’t necessarily short staffed. As we stood by the hostess podium we watched these servers. A few spoke to one another in between the dropping off of dishes and the busing of tables. One girl thought it important to sort the cutlery at their drinks bar. Had she only raised her head she would be able to spot the empty tables and the now impatient customers wondering why they couldn’t be seated. By the time we finally sat down it was with lowered expectations. Yet the place continued to see guest after guest drift in and happy faces leaving well fed. I suspect they came for the food, and like us they would not regret it. Their breakfast fare was certainly worth the annoying wait. Impressive plates walked past us, crossing the black and white checkered floor. Yet the smell that filled the room was less appetizing. A stagnant and dense scent like brewing mould or water from a logged basement. My guest was insistent that what we were smelling was the truffle oil used in one of their hashes. Luckily it seemed only concentrated in the foye

Line ups for a reason.... I never like to pay for breakfast, it's a simple meal that I can make really easily at home. Yolk's is the one restaurant I'd make that exception for... I mean, their truffled potatoes are TO DIE FOR... and I don't have hollandaise made from scratch hanging around in my fridge... or the pancakes stuffed with goats cheeese, strawberries, whip cream and maple syrup.... with bacon of course. YUM. and it's the sweetest fresh house squeezed.... not 'tropicana' orange juice I have ever tasted.... and and and they have a really good tea selection not 'stash' brand which drives me crazy. And my server was so wonderful as well!

So yes, I'd recommend them.... especially on on a Monday, because there aint no line.

Potatoes yum, coffee prices dumb. Pros:
Our server was entertaining.
Nice portion of truffle oil potatoes that were veeeeerrrry good.
Mush benny was good too, gluten free bun was fresh.

Cons:
3.25 for a cuppa joe?!!!?!?
Prices were steep for the setting, 10.00 for 2 eggs, sans taters.

Overall it was a nice experience...

My 2 cents:
Add some potatoes to your plates and charge 12.00. Include bottomless coffee. There ya go, I'm not broke and we're all happy. There is a fine line to pricing, you have to make money but the customer also has to feel like you're not penny pinching.

The chef said that the pancake batter was not up to par, so they refused to serve pancakes on next visit, that was disappointing and how hard is it to make a new batch of batter ?
Service poor ( forgot items, took a long time to serve), food 8/10, atmosphere a little beat down.
If you go strictly for food, good place to go. Wait times are also a problem ( even at 2 pm it is busy )

Very busy but very good. I work in a restaurant so I never get weekends off. I don't even remember what it is like to go out to a Sunday brunch with friends but I'm not bitter... not any more. A crew of us from our restaurant and a few other restaurant friends have been making regular trips to the Yolks food cart in Gastown for a couple of years on our way to work and it has always been very good. Lately we have been making a semi regular visit to the Yolks restaurant on Mondays with a small crew and I have that feeling like we are there for Sunday brunch! It's seemingly busy all the time and although the service can be hit and miss the food is fantastic. The menu is simple but it allows you a lot of options with the clever flow chart menu. I can forgive the hit and miss service as I know how hard it is to keep up when you are just seemingly always serving the most challenging service in the industry every single day... I don't envy them but they all seem to be having fun. Restaurant people: This is your brunch solace

Best benny around!. Expect a wait of 30-40 min at peak times, but it is worth it. Menu is small, but excellent choices. The smoked bacon benny with arugula is divine! You will not find a better benny in Vancouver. English bangers are fantastic. Servers are top notch. Coffee is good. You will not be disappointed by this place!

Great food! Please get berry toppings instead of banana!!. Tried Yolks today and had the eggs benedict, belgium waffle, orange juice a coffee and a side of bangers. The total came to $39 with a 15% tip for 2 people.

We were pleasantly full but I do think that $39 for breakfast is a tiny bit pricey. I would've been content with $32 with tip.

BUT with that being said it was quite well-made. We were very happy with the taste of it. My only beef with the place is that they only offer bananas as a topping for both the belgium waffles and french toast. I would much have preferred a berry topping.

I would recommend!

Best Benny in the City. Well we had heard a lot of great things about Yolks and WOW did they Deliver in a big way!! The restaurant has a cool retro vibe and service is extremely friendly and knowledgeable by Pam. Wait times can be long, but we got there at 3 pm and got right in. The first bite of our Portobello mushroom Benny set the tone.. Unbelievably good!! The egg perfectly cooked.. mushrooms were seasoned beautifully... the sauce was buttery and lemony.. heaven.. WOW.. loved it. Also ordered the chicken and waffles... I have never ordered this dish in my life..and really wasn't sure about it but wanted to be adventurous.. Delicious!!! chicken was super succulent and tender..you get salty.. savory, sweet all in one bite .. waffles were light and perfect. I have had a lot of Benny's in Vancouver..and for me.. this was TOPS. Will be back.

Amazing. So the french toast.... Are these things coasted in sugar then fried?? its some sort of amazingness al packaged into these fried piece of thin french toast covered in sliced bananas, walnuts, caramel sauce, syrup, and whipped cream... I mean what else is there to say?? Their special for the day which was some sort of eggs benedict served on an english muffin naturally, but the poached eggs were on a small bed of spinach was nice, the eggs were topped with a pork belly confit with hollandaise annnndddd, a very tasty mustard. Absolutely amazing!! The coffee could use a step up though ;)

Chicken and waffles yummmm. I have to say that the chicken and waffles were really enjoyable and one of the tastier ones I've had recently. My friend had the special eggs bennie of the day but it wasn't that memorable or even that good considering the price. I might suggest to choose one of their standard ones on the menu instead. We also ordered the beignets (fried donut type things with powdered sugar coating) but it wasn't really that good at all and not worth the price (try the ones at Lucky's Donuts on Main st). In total my bill was quite hefty and for that I would have preferred going to Cafe Medina (more variety) or for a cheaper option Sophie's on W4th but overall I would return for just the chicken and waffles and a simple breakfast menu item to keep the bill on the lower end.

Chickenwafflicious. Lately, I've been on the prowl for the best chicken waffles in town. My faves, each with their distinct battered fried chicken and waffles are: Chewies, Joe Fortes, and now I must also add Yolk's delicious chicken and waffles. The deliciousness of this comes from the perfect texture of the waffle, the slightly crunchy-on-the-outside-moist-inside fried chicken, and wait, the perfect chicken gravy that adds a very unique flavor topped with a sweet maple syrup.

I've heard the lineup gets you quite impatient on the weekends if you're hungry and just stuffing yourself with the sweet breakfast brunch aroma. I went on a weekday afternoon and didn't need to line up. +1 for the tummy!

The lineup was daunting but the succulent pork belly confit and crispy truffle lemon potatoes were well worth the wait. My bf complained his bacon was nothing special but perked up when I gave him a morsel if the belly. I guess he knows what he's getting next time. Only complaint? The seating is tight and a bit un-relaxing. That's probably a good thing as it prevents people from lingering and incurring the wrath of those still waiting outside.
