A lovely cosy cafe in Vancouver, highly recommend! ^_^
Have ordered several dozen of the mini croissants twice now, both times delicious and a big hit amongst our guests. Even froze a few extras and were still delicious months later. Fantastic service and carry out boxes, highly recommended!
Footo = fresh out of the oven. The shop is located just a short distance from the Public Library. Of course, their menu consists of croissants, which they offer in a good variety of flavours; they do also have sandwiches and breakfast items as well. I had a Turkey Pesto Croissant sandwich, Maple Bacon Croissant, and Pistachio White Chocolate Croissant. The croissants aren't the greatest that I've had (I do wish that they could provide some double-baked varieties), but are still quite enjoyable. The prices are fairly reasonable. I do think that this shop is worth visiting.
Turkey Pesto Croissant ($7.80):
4/5
This comes with your choice of either regular, whole wheat, or cheese croissant; I went with the cheese. The croissant itself was quite crisp and flakey, although I couldn't detect much of the cheese. There was a good amount of filling inside; the turkey was a tad dry but well-seasoned, and the pesto was flavourful.
Maple Bacon Croissant ($3.65):
3.5/5
This was filled with maple cream and topped with bacon. Again, the croissant was quite flaky and buttery. I did there to be a bit of a lack in filling, and I couldn't detect much maple flavour. The bacon was quite crisp and tasty, however.
Pistachio White Chocolate Croissant ($3.65):
3.5/5
This was filled with pistachio and white paste. The pistachio paste was rich with a great nutty fragrance, as well as sweetness from the chocolate. Unfortunately, a lot of it appears to have leaked out of the croissant however, and were on the exterior ends, while the interior was pretty much empty.
Summary:
Food: 3.5/5
Price: 4/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 3.5/5
Recommendations: Turkey Pesto Croissant
When I took a pastry class last October, the chef instructor told us that croissants are meant to be eaten right when they come out of the oven. FOOTO Croissant is one place in Vancouver where you can eat fresh croissants made from scratch in-house daily. I ventured to FOOTO Croissant a few times recently to indulge in their delicious croissants.
Good quality croissants with a range of fillings. Maybe a little overpriced for the actual size of what you get. Still, it's fresh and service was fairly efficient and friendly.
If you want croissant fresh out of the oven, then here's where you need to be. "Here?!?", you ask. Yes, here, at Fresh Out Of The Oven. Oh yes, that's what the place is called :) And as the name suggests, their croissants are sold/served fresh out of the oven. It's a small little bakery/cafe, but boy oh boy, they've got some fantastic croissants!
The first batch, on weekdays, comes out at 7:30 am. On weekends, it's at 8:30 am. If you like savoury croissants, the spinach feta is the way to go. If sweet if you're thing, then blueberry lavender or orange custard. Without a doubt. The custard could tip the scale in favor of the orange custard, but that's just personal preference. If you want croissants and are in Yaletown, this IS the place to be.
Croissants done right!. Found this hidden treasure on Homer Street and was amazed. Best croissants I've ever had. No other place does fresh out of the oven like this! Must try the hazelnut and chocolate croissant. Their customer service is also very friendly! Second please!
Loved it!. We went there yesterday - walking past, had not yet had breakfast, and the smell of the croissants was wonderful. I had the pumpkin cinammon special - warm, not long out of the oven - heavenly! I will definitely be back!
Hazelnut Chocolate. Not a hazelnut fan but I enjoyed the hazelnut chocolate croissant! The crunchy texture of the hazelnuts balances well with the airy croissant. Friendly service.
Nom Nom. Best when the croissants are fresh from the oven, so keep an eye out on the twitter or their baking schedule on their website to catch the freshest batch.
I love the white chocolate pistachio, Hazelnut, and maple bacon croissants!
Passion and Dedication. When i first read about Footo's dedication to fresh ingredients with no preservatives, i was extremely excited and looked forward to trying their famous croissants. I just flew in from another city a few weeks ago and decided to make a stop at Footo's. I tried their almond croissant and was surprised by how wonderful the taste and texture is. My almond croissant had some very unique filling inside, almost like the top part of a chinese pineapple bun, which merged perfectly with the buttery layers of the pastry.
I highly recommend anyone who loves croissants and natural ingredients. I personally love baking, and I know it is very difficult to make a delicious croissant. Footo does an excellent job in delivering it's star of the show!
Something different!. Footo is very cozy place with a variety of fresh out of the oven desserts! I had a chocolate crossaints with flaky surface and nice chewy texture inside.Next time, I am really eager to try other flavours and the frozen yogurt and other desserts!
It's near the Vancouver Public Library, so it will be great to quickly grab some healthy crossaints with natural ingredients to study with.
Whole wheat croissant from Footo Croissant is healthier right? I ❤️ croissants 🥐 as a treat. So many croissant options from plain to savoury and sweet. I do enjoy plain. “Fresh out of the oven” croissants indeed!
Had their Florentine Ham breakfast croissant. It was every bit as yummy as it looked in the pictures. Great coffee as well. Envy the people of Vancouver who seem to have great espresso available every 5 meters!! Can't wait to be back
We were on route to another place for breakfast but we were lured into this place simply because of croissants. Got the eggs Benedict and the lavender croissants French toast. Unbeatable flavours, great service and great price!
Got the Florentine croissant, ham and scrambled egg croissant, and then a blueberry lavender and a vanilla custard croissants. They were DELISH, fresh and tasty. I especially loved the vanilla custard croissant. Will be coming back!
Really good croissants. Not cheap but to put it into context especially those complaining its too small, these are NOT supermarket or starbucks croissants. They're made fresh. You're not getting something that is mass produced. The hazelnut croissant actually had hazelnuts in it rather than some powder or flavoring.
Best croissants we ever had. We ate here every morning during our stay in Vancouver. My kids and I had original, cheese, bacon,
feta & spinach, almond, matcha,
and vanilla custard croissants. And they ALL taste good! You can tell it's all made fresh. My kids love their banana milk smoothie. Cafe mocha and latte was also perfectly done. Most of all, the staff are very friendly and attentive.
We definitely coming back!
