Review Federico's Supper Club - Vancouver

JOAQ PALA
It was my first time here last year and I loved the food and atmosphere. Decided to return for our first wedding anniversary and still was a pleasant experience. I felt like a million bucks with the service and the food was tastefully delicious. I love the way Federico greets his guests on their special occasions. I will not wait long to return.

We really enjoyed our time! Lovely Italian restaurant well known for its pasta. Staffs are very respectful and helpful! The energy level was absolutely high intensified by music and dance ! Food is delicious! It’s a bit pricy on Friday and Saturday nights as only fixed price menu is served! However you never regret if you choose this place for your date or birthday party!

We went here for a dinner and show event because the description said 'Simply The Best' Tina Turner Tribute featuring former World Tina Turner Tribute Champion, Luisa Marshall! We were disappointed that only three Tina Turner songs were performed. The special event should have been advertised properly so this was misleading. Aside from this, the Luisa Marshall Band was very enjoyable to listen to. The band is very good and plays a wide variety of hit songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s to the present They provided a very energetic performance with good audience engagement. We can see why they have a large following. Here is our main complaint - we had reserved for two couples. You must pay in advance. Which I did on my credit card for both couples the day before the event on Thursday, January 2. The wife of the other couple suddenly became serious ill the next day on the day of the event January 3 and landed up in hospital. I called Frederico’s to tell them the circumstances of the cancellation of the couple and they said okay thanks for letting us know. They did not mention anything about still charging for the couple. We kept our reservation for 2 and found out when it was time to settle our bill at the end of the night we had still been charged fully, including tax and 18% gratuities for the other couple. We complained about this and even spoke to the manager. He said the best they could do is to give us a credit under our name in the amount of $157.30 to be used another time. We find this not very good PR at all under the circumstances. This turned out to be a hugely expensive evening for us. We would have skipped the additional expense of ordering a bottle of wine and before dinner drink if we had known. Would we go back? Of course. The food was good and we were not rushed. The courses came out nicely spaced. We were given a very nice table with a great view of the stage. The staff were all very pleasant and it is one of the few live music venues where you can dine and dance in Vancouver. The venue was well staffed. Others we know have always reported having a great time there.

If you want to dine and dance, then this is the place to be. They serve authentic Italian dishes and the portions are just right. The dining area has that old-school Italian vibe to it that harkens back to a time when people actually dress up for a night out.

We went here for DineOut Vancouver. We got a 3 course menu. My meatball starter was absolutely delicious. Definitely my favourite out of the three. The accompanying sauce was just perfect. For my next course I had gnocchi with brown butter and sage. I was so excited for the sage because I love the flavour but I actually couldn't really taste it in the dish. It was overall a lovely dish but I was disappointed with that. To finish I had a steak. Perhaps it was the cut of meat but I was left bits that I couldn't chew in my mouth. Our server was fantastic. You really felt like you were being looked after and cared for. The atmosphere was excellent, there was something oldy-worldy yet timeless. Overall it was a fantastic experience, I was just slightly disappointed with a couple of elements of my dishes. It is worth a visit though! We didn't get to see but apparently there is an excellent live band.

Came for Dine Out Vancouver and really enjoyed it. Lamb meatballs and the risotto to start were both quite good. The cheese and sauce really complimented the lamb meat. The lamb was warm, wish it was a little hotter but it was good. Papardelle bolognese was tasty. My wife's seafood linguini had a good amount of seafood - salmon, scallops, mussels, and shrimp - they didn't get cheap on that. The prosciutto wrapped chicken was awesome, would definitely order that again. For dessert the Bavarian custard was rich and creamy, perfect choice for dessert. My wife had the cannoli and she said it was ok

We were looking forward to eating here. Although we had a reservation, we were seated beside a party of approximately 60-70 people, of which one kept using the PA system to congratulate his parents on 60 years of marriage, and asking everyone to sing some song in Italian. As we were there to celebrate a birthday as a party of 4, we didn't expect to be seated so close to another celebration. There were other tables much further away from them, but we had to ask to be moved there while other diners were brought directly to the quieter area. Food was not bad, but not good either. My friend's Linguine Pescatore was lacking in seafood to the point of having to dig for the few pieces she had, and overall had very little flavour. Pasta was nowhere al dente as stated in the menu, it was much softer than that. I had the prosciutto wrapped chicken breast. It is described in the menu as "prosciutto wrapped chicken breast, peperonata & provolone filling, potato puree, broccolini, baby carrots". As you can see in the picture, I received a sliver of regular carrot, not baby carrots. Finally, our main server was good, but the people who brought our main courses not so much. My dinner was placed in front of me from the opposite side of the table by reaching across my friend in front of her and over her food. I expect that at Denny's in a booth, but not a standalone table. For the money, not impressed. A shame, because we have heard many good things about this restaurant.

One of the most fun places for dinner I have been at. Even on a Sunday evening. Good live music, fun to watch people dance and very good food. Makes me want to work on my dancing for the next visit. Even our 20 year olds enjoyed the night. A great spot to enjoy the night and we would return for a weekend. I'm sure it's really hopping then.

Good Friends organized our 30th anniversary here. Great Night! There were over 100 guests so lots of table hopping and visiting with each other. The staff were great, everybody’s meals progressed nicely and tasted great!! The staff were friendly and professional. Music was good for our age group, dance floor was full much of the evening. Great place to organize something like this.

Our Christmas Party last night at Federico's was the biggest hit ever with all of our staff! Food was absolutely top notch and that kitchen staff need big kudos for the quality, from our salads to our dessert, and plus serving all 80 of us at the same time! The waiters were on point! The restaurant was so Christmassy and festive with the music playing! And Federico and his beautiful singer were fantastic!! We all danced and sang the night away! And thanks to Dolores who made booking our event so pleasurable! Thank you so much.....Diane and the staff at St Leonard's😊

Went on a Saturday night for dine out Vancouver and it was some of the best food I've ever had! It was a bit loud with all the groups in there but great music and overall fantastic atmosphere !

This was the second time we have been to Frederico's and both were wonderful experiences. The service was excellent and the food delicious. It has a nice atmosphere and the dance floor is a decent size to shake your bootie. A great place to go with a few good friends for a fun and entertaining evening..

Fantastic food, music, friends and atmosphere. Loved it and would highly recommend it.

Food was totally great, beautiful presentations, and music spectacular. Table setting and service was lacking in comparison to advertising that this restaurant was of a fine dining sophisticated level. But a beautiful supper club and would go again

Great atmosphere, crowd, music and food. Love to be here. This is our third time and we always want to come back. A bit pricey but worth it.

Have been numerous times and never disappointed. Everything is top quality! From the food, to service, to entertainment, to ambiance...top notch. You get the real supper club experience - nothing like it!

Loveeee this place! My frd has a great birthday night! If u r looking for a fun night, then u must come here! Thanks Federico for the great music!
Nicole Bursey
What a fun night! We held our holiday staff party here and the entertainment was very memorable - everyone was on the dance floor! Unfortunately the food was disappointing and the house wine was awful. If the f & b were improved I would recommend Federico's with more confidence.

If you haven't been yet, go. This is a supper club, not a typical Vancouver restaurant where the server is trying to get you to eat and leave as quickly as possible. Go, sit, eat, enjoy the music and dance. It's a great evening experience.

We really enjoyed our evening at Federico's. The meal and service were fabulous (thanks Gian Luca) and the place was hopping. The Billy Joel/Elton John tribute duo were excellent. We just booked our return visit there for the August 25th Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Can hardly wait!

We came here for their $45 dine out. Very cool and classic Italian restaurant with a dance floor and live music. They keep it old school and service is exceptional. We never got to meet Federico because he didn't arrive at the restaurant to perform until 9:30 pm and our reso was for 6:30 pm.

Came here to celebrate a birthday and they were very accommodating. Food was unique - I tried a rotolo di pollo (pancetta wrapped chicken roulade). Tiramisu was amazing and so moist. Arancini was yummy!

More on my blog:

came for dine out vancouver. from top to bottom this was a great meal. everything we ordered was fantastic. the carbonara was one of the best i’ve ever had as was the tiramisu. just awesome. if i had to nitpick i’d say the risotto needed some seasoning but other than that this was a night to remember. great staff. top notch. i’ll be back

Fantastic on every level!
Food, service, entertainment!! Recently was there for a family anniversary- our group was about 40 people and everyone absolutely loved everything about the night. It was a Saturday so it was a packed house and full dance floor if you are looking for a night out with after a fabulous meal. This place is the total package!

I hoped that Federico's would be like the Bamboo Lounge a la Goodfellas and Federico's delivered in spades. Excellent food, entertainment, service and ambiance. Had the Small Bites, Pescatore, Steak and Flour-less Chocolate Cake. Will be going back.

Great pasta but the pork and lamb were bland. The pasta alone is great but the proteins were barely acceptable. The cheesecake is made in house but tasted like store bought. The tiramisu well, its your average tiramisu.

Burratta amd beef carpacio were ok but not good but the arugula was nice and fresh and dressing tasty

Would go back for pasta only

Went here for my cousin's 40th Birthday - what a great night!! SOOO much fun!! Food was great! Entertainment and dancing was a blast!!! The only negative was I was DD that night and I could not believe they charge for refills on their pop!! - and at $2-3 per glass!! Other than that - staff are great and it's a great night of fun!!

This is the 3rd year that I came to this restaurant for dine out. It is because they have so much option to choose and the food are all very delicious. Today is the last day of dine out so I wanted to come here. My salad was good, I'm just not a fan of blue cheese. My entree was a pasta which is very good too. For my dessert I had new york cheesecake which is so good. I think from all 3 restaurant that I went for dine out, this restaurant food are what I love the most. Waiting to come here next year dine out.

Went to Federico's for Mother's Day Dinner. Usually I find that when a restaurant takes reservations on open table for a special day, it's a bad sign- I'm lucky I was wrong because Federico's was such a great experience. Overall, the entire dinner was enjoyable and we would return again. Try it out before the pasta challenge ends!

Best atmosphere ever. I had the best time at this restaurant on Sunday! Food was fabulous, service was awesome. And the owner came around a lot to ask if everything was going well.
I will definitely be going back. Only downside..... No change table for babies or high chairs.... Other then that perfect night out!

Dining the way it used to be...and should be again. My wife and I were looking for a place to celebrate our anniversary - on a Sunday night! Thank goodness a friend of a friend suggested checking out Federico's. Sadly, Federico himself was on vacation, so we weren't treated to his usual lively musical stylings, but a couple of nice young men called The McQuaids provided dual acoustic guitar and singing, doing a lot of classic and reworked hits that were very danceable. Service was superb, friendly and professional, ably provided by maître'd Joe and waiter Earl. Dinner itself was excellent: my wife had the pasta special, and I splurged on a T-bone steak that was done to medium rare perfection. We shared forkfuls throughout the meal! Dessert was Federico's unique take on tiramisu, with pistachio and citrus. I had the butterscotch pudding with sea salt, also very tasty. The decor, service and atmosphere made me think of what a fine dining experience must have been like in the 40s and 50s. If we lived in the Vancouver area, we'd make Federico's one of our regular haunts, but we'll definitely make the effort to return next time we're in the area! Highly recommended.

If you are looking for a dining experience in Vancouver- this is definitely the place. We have been here a few times now and always feel completely welcomed from the moment we step inside. The staff is incredible and the service is always first class. A delicious meal, bursting with flavour has been consistent with different dishes we have tried here.... And the desserts, to die for! But it doesn't end there! Once the dancing music starts, Federico has the dance floor packed whenever we have gone on a weekend. It is a blast and he always sings a wide range of music. Not to mention his weeknight song list that has ballroom dancers taking the dance floor. Incredible to watch and hear some beautiful music. There is really something for everyone at this gem! We love it!!!

Thanks for the. I took my wife to Federico's about a month ago. We'd been once before and absolutely loved it. Food was great, and the service and ambience was are unmatched. We'll be going back again soon!

Thanks!

Great Atmosphere. Our firm went here for a Christmas Dinner and it was great!! Everyone loved their meals and we were treated like family as soon as we walked in the door! The live music and dancing is really something else! Cant wait to come back next year!

Awesome!. Federico entertains well...great selection of songs! food was great too!! really enjoyed ourselves dancing and endulging in the menu! had the lamb shanks, they were so tender and delicious.

Very expensive for what you get. Food it's ok 7.5/10 , and the service was not good. It took a long time to bring our food. The best part is the show, but it's very short, one hour max.
Nick Prowse
Great concept, needs work. Expensive, tacky. Federico only sings for 1 hour (1030-1130). Would not go back.

...good flavour, but I thought pasta too stringy for the creamy flavour; I was expecting a more fettucine like pasta for this dish...

The Strozzapreti was a mouthful to say, but a delicious mouthful to eat. It was a hand-rolled pasta sauced with a slow-cooked mixed meat ragu. I found its shape to be very interesting, and it was the first time I’ve ever eaten this type. It was simple, meaty and tasty.

I have been on the hunt for places to "dine and dance" in Vancouver but this seems to be a rare entity these days. Federico's Supper Club is one of those few places that has a dance floor, albeit not large.
FollowMeFoodie
It was one of the 3 restaurants in Vancouver to receive an Italian Quality Seal Certification! The food generally was very good if I combine all my experiences together.

If you're careful with your ordering it can be great! I came for their Dinner & a Laugh comedy night. Love the live entertainment & Supper Club theme.
