A bit disappointed with the place, it seems to be focussed around the Belgrade Kitchen. Came here hoping to just get some drinks on a Saturday night but there is only really restaurant seating. There's a small waiting area that doubles as a bar, but your limited to small over priced beers and wine by the glass, no flights.
I am always on the search for new and interesting experiences, and today it has brought me to a wine class. I have often fantasized about being a sommelier, and the idea of being paid to drink. So today, the Sunday wine class at “Vancouver Urban Winery” was the closest I would get to achieving that.
Wine flights for $12-$15? Yes, please! Love that this place offers and showcases so many different kinds of wineries. Can't wait to come back to try more and buy a few bottles of their own wine!

A few hours after lunch I ran out of idea where to go with my parents. My friend highly recommended this place before so I decided to take my parents out here. Vancouver Urban Winery is a boutique winery located in Railtown, two blocks East of Gastown. They produce 700 cases of wine per year and their tasting room has 36 wine taps where you can taste the in-house brands and wines produced from other wineries in BC.
My parents got Sommelier's Choice Wine Flights ($12) which included 2 white, 1 rose and 2 red wines all produced in BC. They really enjoyed trying out different types of wines selected by our sommelier. Because of the hot weather I got a glass of pilsner instead.
For wine paring, we got delicious Seared Scallops with Terrato + Bacon Jam ($16) which consisted of Cauliflower Puree, Pickled Mushrooms and Crispy Kale Chips. It tasted amazingly good. Regardless of its small portion, it definitely deserves its price. The scallops were very fresh and I loved the puree as well as a hint of enoki mushrooms.
Our second dish was Flank Steak with Chimichurri ($14) which had slices of medium steak with sprouts, malbec molasses and chimichurri (Argentinan green sauce made of finely-chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano and white vinegar) on top. As I am not a big fan of steak, I didn't really enjoy the meat itself but I loved all other ingredients they used for this dish. It had interesting flavours that blended well with the steak. My parents loved it.
For the third dish, we got Yam Gnocchi with Lamb Ragu ($16) but it was way too salty that we couldn't stand another bite.
Overall, I loved their food and wine flights as well. This place is definitely a good place for chilling out :)
Love the place for it's decor and atmosphere. Variety of beverage (on tap) from beer to wine. Definitely an experience, but the food is just so so. Service was good and definitely be back. Overall experience: Thumb's up.
Open these magnificent doors and enter into an out-of-this world eating experience. In this world who only those beyond the fad and hip congregate, they call them Pizzette. You are probably wondering where and what. Read till the end of the article but promise to put on your never go out-of-style attire and head over. And when you do, pray they will have the Butter Chicken with Roasted Cauliflower. All good things come to an end. Don't be surprised if you find yourself kneeling to say thanks for to powers for opening these doors in our city. Worth seeking out. We had brunch at the Urban Winery as part of a wander-aimlessly-around-vancouver outing on Saturday. It's certainly more of a specific destination, since it's not exactly central to any place you might otherwise be walking, but it was on my wish list so we sought it out.
We had the Belgard Meatball Brunch Skillet, the Health Nut Breakfast Bowl, a flight of beer & a flight of wine, and enjoyed everything! We also enjoyed the company of a very friendly server who served us promptly, checked in with us regularly and brought us up to speed on the establishments' history and future plans. It was a great stop and we'll go back (probably in a car!) for dinner since that menu looks yummy too!
My wife & I recently spent a weekend in the city exploring with our bikes. Found this place east of, just past, gastown. Decided to sit and sip a few wines, ordered a cheese plate, sat in nice comfortable chairs, talked. What a pleasant unexpected turn to our day. Quite romantic. We started with a flight of wine. Very cool idea. Never seen this offered before. All in all service was top notch, friendly and knowledgable.
I was instantly impressed when I walked into Vancouver Urban Winery: 20-something-foot ceilings, huge fireplace, and all those massive barrels of wine and beer. The whole place was filled great vibes and energy! As all my 3 friends picked Premium wine flight, I set my eyes on Sommelier’s Choices which featured mostly VUW’s own labels. I figured I could taste both flights for some comparing. I actually enjoyed Sommelier’s Choices a bit more as the varieties were more subtle but following...
The team behind Vancouver Urban Winery, FreshTap (wine on tap), Roaring Twenties Wine Co., and the newly opened Belgard Kitchen have launched their long in the works in-house brewery, bringing the same passion and zeal for wine to craft beer at 55 Dunlevy Street with Postmark Brewing.
To be honest, I am not the wine person, but this place makes me enjoy all types of wines.
The vibe is super good especially for some special day.
If you don’t know about wine like me, try the wine flight(I forgot the name on the menu) like a beer flight; you will know which wine will make you in-loved
I loved it at Vancouver Urban Winery, or Belgard Kitchen, (it has two names, idk why). The wine flights are unique and something I haven't experienced at anywhere else. They have wine flights for people who like whites, rose's or reds. The service was impeccable, and our server was super knowledgeable about the menu. The food was amazing! Perfect for a girls night out. :)
Went to this place with friends for an evening out. Great atmosphere with good vibe. Beautiful setting. Good food! Their own wine may not be the best wine you ever had (but they do have quite a decent wine list so you will have plenty of wine choice) but it was fun trying the local wines. Overall it was a great experience and we had so much fun here.
I went there for dinner on Sunday and really enjoyed the atmosphere (regardless of the location). They have a decent selection of wine, and I love that it’s all local. Restaurant menu is small but still pretty good. I tried their wine tasting, and selection provided was alright. I would most likely try something different next time.
I had yam gnocchi and they were able to make it vegetarian to accommodate me. The food was delicious.
Four star review because of slow service. Had to wave down server to take our order, and bills. Other than that, it was A+
Was visiting from LA and I loved this place so much came back 3 times! Pro tip: sit at th bar for good people watching and so you can talk to the bartenders. Both Ethan and Gian were amazing ! The food is out of this world. My favorites were the salumi board and gnocchi. The wine flights are a great way to try different wines and everything is reasonably priced. Can't recommend enough
What a cool place To discover!!
The ceilings are vaulted and beautiful, the space is intimate with low loghting and many different rooms and spots to be seated. The menu looks wonderful and they have multiple wine tasting trays.
Only thing is the area isn’t so great but then again, that’s just Vancouver
