Review Fets Whisky Kitchen - Vancouver

Lance Graham
First time here the other night and it was outstanding. I typically try a Manhattan whenever I go out for dinner, and this spot was one of the better ones I've had. Food was top notch - plenty of comfort food options; Im all about the fried chicken, and this place delivered. I got fried chicken with my Makers Mac and Cheese, which was a delicious main. Highly recommend their corn bread as a starter, as well. This place really delivers on its name, by the way - their whiskey list is exhaustive, including innumerable scotch options. Great spot overall, I'll definitely be back.

I have walked by many times and after a long day in the office decided to come in and have a few drinks. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was nice for a date with the Mrs. The drinks were yummy and the presentation of the food was exceptional. My only complaints were that the Scotch Egg could have had a little more sausage and salt and the corn bread could have been a little more moist. The presentation was worthy of pricier restaurants. The mouiles marniere was exceptional. Best dish of the night. Definitely will come back and try the rest of the menu.

Massive selection of whiskeys from around the world. The service was exceptional, and the food was amazing. The menu was adequate with an appropriate amount of selection with recipes that will please every pallet. Everything was made from scratch, and the ingredients were fresh and top quality. I highly recommend this location

They have a fantastic selection of whisky and cocktails. Their sticky toffee pudding was delicious, but plan to share because it’s very sweet. I liked their charcuterie board with whisky pickled veggies. The staff were so friendly and awesome! We had a great time here.

In addition to a huge selection of whiskies, their food is really good! The Classic Deluxe burger with bacon was probably one of the best I've ever had. The chocolate brownie with ice cream and the sticky toffee pudding were great as well. Service was superb

The drinks were so good, the server super friendly and amazing, but the biggest stand out for me was the food. O. M. G. THE FOOD IS AMAZING. I had the grilled cheese and tomato soup and my goodness it made me feel like I was back home at mums again. Such great comfort food. The grilled cheese was nice and crispy with that beautiful snapping sound in every bite. The soup was warm, inviting, and seasoned to perfection. Perfect for a rainy day. If you ever have the chance to try these guys out, they have a great menu and an even more amazing drink menu. 100/10 I would most definitely come here again. Made my visit with my mom just that much more memorable.

Wow!! The food here is fantastic. We got a table outside in November and sat on the patio. Lots of menu choices. Great service, reasonable prices & the food was delicious. Everyone in our party loved what they ordered. I will definitely come here again.

I can't rate this place high enough - great food, superb service, and really welcoming atmosphere. Don't worry if you're not a whisky drinker, there's plenty else on the menu. The veggie options are delicious - try the corn fritters followed by the succulent veggie burger and yam fries and you won't be disappointed. A special mention to Dexter, the owner's son, who gave great service. Thank you Fets!

Great little spot on the Drive. An amazing selection of scotches and whiskey - finding one in the 'giant book of whiskey' is so much fun!! - the food is very good also.
Garrick Bradshaw
My favourite place for food, fun and whiskey in Vancouver! The staff are amazing. Caitlin made our group get-together last Wed a blast! She picked my whiskey selections all evening and I loved them all. It is so worth the trip from the Island to spend time with friends at Fets! - Garrick

This is my Vancouver happy place. There's so much whisky and so little time! The food is also amazing.

Heard about the place on the radio, had to check it out as I'm a whiskey lover. A bit difficult to find parking ,but well worth it.Great service and a great whiskey selection.

It's been a week of ups and downs, and amidst all of the drama, at least I had the comfort of lots of new food experiences. We had H's birthday dinner at Fets Whiskey Kitchen:. They have a full wall of different whiskeys, from floor to ceiling, any type of whiskey your heart could desire! I had the negroni (bottom left corner), because it was negroni week, and all the advertisements pasted on their bathroom walls, and inserted into the front of the menu, looked pretty delicious.

5/5 because the jambalaya was perfect, the rice was cooked through and soaked up all the sauce...

Cool little place with a massive book of whiskey to choose from. We ordered the spiced cider and mulled wine and both were delicious. For dinner the fish and chips (typical, big portion) and the Cajun creamer chicken.. unreal!! I’m still thinking about it. Try it.
Marcela Godoy
Delicious food- Mac and cheese to die for! excellent environment and the whisky library is just amazing! Service was also courteous and helpful.

Initial impression: cool concept, decent patio and space, impressive whiskey menu, pleasantly surprised by food menu selections.
Experience: I started off with an order of a mystery scotch. Two sips in, I accidentally spilled the rest of my precious glass of single malt. I gave the establishment the opportunity to replace my ounce of spilled alcohol, and the waitress had to go ask her superior, who consequently declined the request. Fine, but don't expect me to spend another dime. So I had a great time catching up with my friends, as always. But if a restaurant has an overall business philosophy of providing subpar customer service, then I'm not in a hurry to ever return and find out what other areas in which they are subpar.
Lasting impression: 5 star rating for anyone brave enough to open a whiskey establishment, minus 3.5 stars because more effort was put into making that impressive whiskey menu than in making people happy. Hint: when your gross profit margin of my particular beverage is 700%, the answer is simple- do the right thing.

Came here for lunch with a friend. I ordered the chicken quesadilla for lunch and baked or fried bread pudding for dessert. The quesadilla is bit over cooked and on the dry side. I didn't like the salsa that came with it. The bread pudding was made like a french toast with a drizzled syrup on top and whipped butter. The bread pudding was not bad but very filling. The customer service was friendly but not as attentive as you would like since they don't refill the water unless you ask them to.

had a birthday dinner here last night. great place, great sangria and the food was great. the corn fritters are pretty heavy but still tasty. the fried chicken came out like chicken fingers which surprised me but was really great. the mashed potatoes were lumpy as hell and pretty dry but the gravy on top made it all good. portions are a little on the smaller size. will definitely go back.

I normally don't write reviews, but after this experience, I had to.

I'll start by saying: I will not be back.

It was well over an hour wait to get our meals.

My friend's hash was very good. Other friend's clubhouse was dry but OK. My order was sub par. The Sausage was good, but the French toast was so dry, it's like they ran out of eggs when making it. Poached eggs consisted of: 1 cooked hard 1 barely cooked. Hash browns appeared like they had run out and tried to take a little from multiple plates in order to have some on my plate.

No manager or kitchen lead should have let a plate like mine out of the kitchen.

This was the type of meal that I would have sent back and left the restaurant without eating. The only reason I stayed was my blood sugar was low and I badly needed to eat.

I saved a piece of the French toast and asked that the manager sees it. To my surprise, the manager did not come to apologize, but instead sent the server to say "the manager sends her apologies".

Wow.

Here I am, the guest, paying my hard earned money to eat in this establishment... And the manager can't be bothered to listen to me?

It's a shame, because this place has a great looking collection of whisky... And that was one of the things that drew me to the location.

I hope the owner gets the chance to read this: I will not be back, and this is solely because the management. Stop trying to sell your East Van Foodie book. You are letting things slide way too much in the kitchen.

Service was good. Food was tasty but not as interesting as advertised. Caesar was very good but the lime they gave me was old and brown/mouldy. Made us wonder about their food safety practices.

The service here was great and we came on a pretty quiet evening. The appetizer we ordered was the hummus dip and it was fantastic. I loved that there were two types that complimented each other. For dinner we had the chicken quesadilla and a burger. They were able to add an extra patty for us too. The chicken quesadilla had a kick to it, and was served nice and crispy on the outside. The burgers are done medium rare and absolutely perfect. Make sure to ask for a side of their chipotle dip - it's to die for :)

I'm not a whisky drinker, so my review is based on the food. Average brunch. Asked for a side of sour cream and salsa for my veggie hash and was dinged $3 a side. Further, instead of a side of salsa, they just cooked it into my meal, which tasted fine but was easy spicier than anticipated. Wouldn't be my first choice for brunch on the drive. Service was also slow. Chicken sandwich needed more sauce.

Definitely adds to the commercial vibe! Food is awesome and so are the bartenders. Service can be a little hard to get especially during peak hours (5-8pm) but overall I had a good experience. Should be coming back!

Insane selection, and great service! The owner actually made a couple personal recommendations that just blew me away. Good thing the prices are high, because I'd end up going there every evening otherwise.

Yum!. Stopped by for our first time last night. We will for sure be back! Our waiter was lovely, drinks came very quickly and the food was awesome! Nothing beats some fried chicken (with the nicest mash I've had in a while) on a rainy miserable night. The hubby had jambalaya and it was just enough spice (we like spice so may be a bit hot for some). Overall we are so so glad we stopped into this little gem and are already planning our next trip back!

Came here on my birthday with my boyfriend and the food was amazing! Our waiter was super nice and at the end, my dessert was paid for by one of the cooks :)

Good food, but not southern. I ordered the fried chicken and my friend had the mac and cheese. We both split the salad. The taste for both were delicious, though I didn't taste the whiskey or see how it is southern. Something to consider if you go there:
1. It is pricey for such a tiny portion of food.
2. The fried chicken is more like chicken strips (no skin, no bone).
3. The Brussels sprout on the brussels sprout was yellow. Though they say it's whiskey infused, I didn't taste it.

I have a particular bias. Because I am looking for real New Orleans type southern foods in Vancouver, Fets have fallen short on that. I expected deep fried oysters, andouille sausages, gator meat, grits and biscuits. Leave the "fusion" foods and bring on the hearty traditional soul foods Vancouver!

Love this place!!! My family and I have been going here for years and it only gets better:) we can honestly say we have never had a bad meal. We have made it our place for all family get togethers:) brunch on Sunday is the best!! Any of the eggs Benedict's are delicious and my husband raves about the breakfast enchilada. All and all, if you want a place to go that's got great food and atmosphere, this is the place to go. Staff and owners truly make this place a gem.

Good Surprise. Was strolling on the drive and crossed this place, was meant to go to Havana but was so busy so came here instead and so happy with our decision. Although the server kind of forgot about us, the food more than made up for it! Has the louisiana burger, it was SO delicious, juicy and filling. Tried a few appies as well and they did not disappoint! great little spot on the drive

Love Fets. Was introduced to this place by a friend at her birthday party, they offer free run wings, in fact all the items on the menu uses free range chicken. Louisiana chicken burger was spicy and delicious. They renovated and made changes for good.
Ps they also offer a delicious whiskey caesar.

Pretty cool place. Good tunes. I really liked the expressotini

Walked by today at lunch time with a friend on our way to a different restaurant, and decided to give this place a shot after reading a few good reviews. To start we ordered the Mac n cheese to split, it was quite good and had good spice, but for 15 dollars, it was waaay too small and wasn't worth the price. For my meal I ordered the steak sandwich with a cup of the Creole clam chowder. The soup was good, nothing spectacular. But the sandwich was awful.. the steak was cooler than lukewarm, and overcooked (i ordered it medium rare and it was well done) and the sandwich was on two thin slices of baguette, resembling a pile of steak on biscotti.. the worst part was that the blue cheese on the sandwich was a cold slice about an eighth the size of the sandwich. The best part was the Diamond Knot IPA. the server was funny and friendly though.

Great Service, Great Food. I was in Fet's on Saturday morning watching the Chelsea vs Munich game. We have been here a few times before but not since they renovated. The restaurant looks great being much more open. I ordered the chorizo hash which I get every time I come here. The restaurant was packed but our food came out quickly. Everything was great as usual. Our server was Angie who is almost always our server on Saturday mornings. She was in South America a while ago and we didn't think she was coming back to Fet's.We are very happy she did!! My wife and I always have great service weither it's breakfast or dinner. Thanks Angie for making our Saturday morning win even better!! We are glad you are back.

Fantastic Service. Thank you Tricia..... You made our experience so awesome!!!! We will come back again!
No Dessert Im Full
Awesome burger! The classic deluxe was very good, super tasty. Pink vodka lemonade on special? Hmmmm whatever ill take one plus a jager bomb and a pint of 1516 please, the waiter srrves me a raised eyebrow. Food was a bit pricey but the drinks were not too bad, pints runnin around 5 and up. The atmosphere was pretty chill and relaxed. Guess i get luck of draw! We only ended up in this joint because biercrafts wait was too long! It did turn out to be a pretty good time actually.

Food is great - a little high. The food is great! Actually really good food, however. The prices are a little high and they charge you for every extra thing.

Food, especially their burgers, are good!

Not bad, not great.. Went to Fets for the first time with my bf and 2 other friends because we heard the food was good. It was alright. They were all pleased with theirs, my Jambalaya was drowning in sauce but that may be just a personal dislike I have against "over saucing" dishes. The garlic prawns were great. Our friend ordered the creme brule for dessert and believe it or not it actually tasted salty! The sugar topping was there but the custard part was actually salty! Disguisting. Service was good, attentive, friendly. Only wish that we didn't have to ask 3 times to turn the heating lamp on since we were on the patio. I'd go back but try the burgers since that's what they're known for more....and go for dessert somewhere else.

Great burger. Simple, well done

It was not bad service but angry waitress. One of the waitress in this bar has a really bad attitude. She spoiled my night here today. Waitresses are supposed to be nice, right? Won't come back. Who wants to be treated with disdan?

The food was ok, and on time. I guess this waitress wanted to hit me in my face.

really scary

Fets always has the best burgers. So far, the best in the lower mainland. Plus the best Whiskey collection in Western Canada. Always consistant, always friendly on the Drive.

A good burger and fries while watching the game

Great Food, Great Service, Good Prices. Fet's is a classic. The food is consistently very good. Great burgers. Great pasta. Very tasty breakfasts on the weekends. And utterly fantastic Nachos - enough for at least 2 people! The prices are better then most generic chain restaurants. And the servers are knowledgeable and friendly. Fet's is a consistently solid good restaurant experience. I've eaten there many times and I can highly recommend it!

I had dinner there the other night with my date. I ordered the Stacked Texan which was THE BEST burger I have ever had, also got the garlic mayo with my fries and it was well worth it. My date got the seafood Alfredo and it was such a large surving she had to give some to me (boy am I glad too!) I don't even like seafood but I found that was delicious! I've never seen such generous portions on The Drive before! Great prices for grey food!

Fets is a Southern Inspired Diner, that just happens to be an outturn distributor of the Scotch Malt Whisky Society. This place is great fun for a whisky lover – you can order from the menu of whiskies (Scotch, Irish, Canadian) and bourbon (a type of American Whiskey), or take the plunge and try the mystery Whisky Society offerings – all of which are single malt whiskies, all served at cask strength (this means the whiskies are served at the proof or alcohol content directly as they come out of the cask – typically in the 60% range, and much higher than commercial bottles of non-cask strength whisky that typically run in the mid-40s in terms of alcohol by volume. Some at-home training is recommended before tasting cask strength whiskies, especially if you aren’t well acquainted with scotch whisky. Luckily a

You'll find Fet's on 'the drive' with a patio perfect for relaxing on a nice afternoon. There's a remarkable offering of whiskey as well, so if this weren't a work limited lunch, I could have parked myself for longer than it took to take down my target.
We had enjoyed burgers at Fets’ before, and thought this was a good place to get some grub.

We love The Drive. Not only is it a couple skytrain stops away, but it is its ecclectic, cultural, and primitive vibe that makes it a go-to place on weekends and sunny days. We first came by Fets one year when we went to the Drives' annual "Parade of Lost
