My family and I had dinner tonight at patron and I must say it was absolutely amazing! Our food was so tasty with flavours that made us feel in México, our server Katia was really attentive with such a warmth personality! They even treated us to some churros on the house! Amazing super recommended place if you’re in the mood for tasty Mexican food!
The best Mexican Restaurant in Vancouver! Authentic Mexican food. All the staff is amazing! From the owner till the dish washer! Great ambiance, clean, great music, food and drinks are the best!
OMG!! Definitely the best mexican food I've ever had! Tell your friends and come down and check this place out! Great food and wonderful service as well. We'll be back often. :)
So good I had to eat there TWICE in one day! 😍 The veggie stew enchiladas were awesome and the classic margarita with top shelf tequila was delicious.
Even though we had 4 different servers while we were there, the food was excellent, we were seated incredibly fast even though it was packed. I would absolutely go again... and order many tacos lol
Just discovered this little Mexican restaurant today and I am so sad I didn't dosciver it sooner :(
Sooo good and authentic and the staff was very friendly. Will definitely come back and I highly recommend it.
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
+4
This is a noisy, fun restaurant with sports on multiple screens, an impressive bar and a patio. I am guessing that things jump around here in the evenings! The Caribbean Vibes Taco, which was their offering for the Vanfoodster Taco Challenge, seems to be Chef Andres Lopez' creation and is only available Monday to Friday from 12 to 5 when he is there to prepare it for you! It starts with a plantain tortilla, which is amazing. No flour or anything other than plantain and it has very good texture and flavour. Little crispy bits of deep fried tilapia and chicharon are the next features with cilantro aioli, mango and habanero chutney. This all works very well and left me with that silly grin that I sometimes get! I also had a Steak Torte. This plate did not look overly Mexican but it was a very good sandwich! I tried to get a picture of the inside of it but sometimes a description is better! A soft inside, slightly crunchy outside bun with a generous amount of cubed meat cooked with Mexican style spices, avocado and a ridiculous layer a melted cheese which I wouldn't be surprised to learn is cooked right n the flat top tuile style. Excellent! I'm not sure how waffle fries fit in at a cantina but they were also quite good. This is certainly not the least expensive Mexican food around but you are paying for a high level of service and comfort and atmosphere as well as good food.
I came to this restaurant with my friend Monica and her six year old daughter who's a very particular eater. Monica was concerned that her daughter would refuse to eat and we were surprised at the outcome! Monica and I had a large Mexican salad and while I never eat raw vegetables, the cool, crisp and fresh texture of the lettuce made my mouth water and made me yearning for more. The tomatoes were sweet and tangy and refreshed my mouth for the next course. We all had chicken and beef tacos. The service was prompt and our waitress had the utmost courtesy and really wanted us to feel satisfied. The taco itself was soft and warm and made our mouths water. The chicken and beef was tangy on our tongues and seasoned to completion. Monica's daughter finished her taco before we even finished half of ours. The dressing was delightful and enhanced the deliciousness of the taco and we were thinking about ordering a second dish! However, we decided that we will come back next week and enjoy the spectacular Mexican hospitality and savour the tastes that we enjoyed today. This was the best Mexican food we've ever had in Canada!
Great food! The guacamole and Pico di Gallo were amazing! The only glitch was that they got my order wrong, but they were quick to correct it. So good!
Patron Tacos & Cantina in the Stadium District serves traditional Mexican fare in a lively, casual environment. I had come to know about Patron Tacos by way of their participation in Vancouver Foodster events. On their menu are traditional Mexican dishes like enchiladas, huaraches, quesadillas and more. The bar features a range of Tequilas, cocktails and speciality margaritas. Here are some thoughts on my visits to Patron Tacos this year.
This was the third time that I visited Patron Tacos & Cantina. So far everything I tasted here was delicious. The margaritas are kickass here. Although simple and unpretentious, the food here is well prepared with big flavours and a touch of refinement, such as their tacos, sopecitos, and quesadillas. I also find the ambiance vibrant and energetic, and the servers super friendly. This is a good spot for a TGIF evening or a sports night.
Our fourth stop on this year’s Vancouver taco crawl moved us away from Cambie Street and towards the heart of downtown. It was the only restaurant that I have heard of before coming on this crawl. The “taco crawl” is an event vetted by “Vancouver Foodster”, a well known food lover and enthusiast, food podcast host, and organizer of other similar events. His goal is time around was to expand the eating horizons of those who might not think to visit a few of his favourite places, without such an invitation. You pay a flat rate, and with it earn eight tacos to come, and a map to get you there. You travel around the city, trying tacos from those restaurants participating, five in total. I was lucky enough to be the plus one of the charismatic “Picky Diner”, one of this year’s judges.
I liked the vibe of this place. Staff were all spanish speaking, the music was good, it definitely felt like a modern mexican restaurant! The food was pretty decent (pastor tacos were a bit on the hard side, sopitas were really tasty) but I unfortunately it did not come with as decent of a price tag. The menu has some interesting items but for the most part it's your generic Noth American menu. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their margaritas. Again, though, very little ingredients for a high price tag.
Very nice place. Very well attended. The food is very nice, but some dishes are spice hot. Ask before order.
For drinking, I recommend "Chelada". It's beer with lemon, tabasco sauce and salt. For desert try the "churros"
Went with a couple friends before a concert. It was busy but we got seated right away. The server was slow to take our order, but the food was delicious so you forget about the service sometimes when the food is worth waiting for. Great prices too.
Very good! Great portions, awesome Mexican beer selection, had a Modelo Especial. The manager was super accommodating for a large party. Happy customer.
Delicious tacos from a visitor's perspective! Since I was travelling alone(what else is new??) I googled "Taco Tuesday" and this popped up. While they didn't have a separate special for the Tuesday I was here, they do have a 4 for $11 taco special every day on their lunch menu.
Service is a bit on the slower side, but not so much that it's annoying. I ordered the shredded chicken, steak, lengua(tongue) and chorizo. Of course I started out strong with the tongue, so freaking good! It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase "getting some tongue" hahah! Shredded chicken wasn't the best, seemed somewhat wet and not super flavourful, so I added one of the complimentary side sauces they gave me. Another strong contender was the chorizo-not spicy but well seasoned and crumbly...so yummy!! The steak one was ok-meat was tender but again had to add sauces to help it along. So tie between lengua and chorizo!!
Also heard the servers speaking Spanish, so unsure whether the place is also authentic Mexican trained and run?
mexican take out with Sherry Richter -
not too shabby! i may go for a flour tortilla type next time as the corn ones can get a bit soggy if you take too long to start eating... but mushy or not, it is still delish! they make some amazing guacamole and for some strange reason are really obsessed with feta cheese (which im not so crazy about mself) but top er off with a little tex-mex and youve got perfection!
oh and dont forget - churros for dessert 😋
Good food, good service, good times. Came here for lunch and found our table got great value with one of the lunch combos we each had. While I enjoyed the chicken quesadilla I ordered, having the tortilla soup instead of a salads to start meant a distinct lack of vegetables in my meal.
Authentic Mexican. Very good authentic Mexican food in Vancouver. Always busy. Great atmosphere, great food, friendly staff.
I love Tortilla soup, and this is some of the best Tortilla soup I have had outside of Mexico.
Busy and good service. I went last night and the restaurant was full ..but the service and food was good
I love the rebeldes
Definitely I will be back :)
Authentic Mexican in downtown Vancouver!. Best traditional and flavoured margaritas on the rocks! My personal favorites are the cucumber-jalapeno and the raspberry-orange :) Their food is truly delicious and they have some great options for vegetarians like their Tlacoyo dish, which I loved. The location is beautiful, their portions are generous and the service is friendly and efficient. I must visit if you want a great Mexican food experience in the heart of Vancouver.
Love their food, hate their slow service. The place would do so much better if they address that one issue.
Service was "cold", but the food was wonderful, and the atmosphere was exceptional. Chips/salsa are homemade, queso was delicious. Decor was impressive and really gave off a modern Mexican vibe. I would definitely visit again.
Excellent tacos with great flavor especially the beef tongue one and fried fish! Great service too. Highly recommended!
Best Mexican food, Love the owners, treat me like family, great drinks and food and great location did I mention how cool the owner is? Treats me like his Brother from another mother! Love them!
Great Mexican food!. Last Saturday was my first time at Patron and my experience was fairly good. The place was filled with energy, music and laughter –great place to spend Saturday night for two. Although the menu was a bit confusing, the waitress was helpful in explaining.
We order Parilada- just wicked. Everything was brought out quickly, nothing was forgotten. Our waiter -a friendly spanish girl-was attentive without being overbearing. We felt well taken care of.
Everything we tried at this place was authentic and delicious. Red Sangria is highly recommended.
I will be back again and again.
Great tacos!. Came here to eat the other day and was pleasantly surprised. Had the soup of the day whihc was carrot soup and was blown away by how great it was! we got the 3 different tacos as well and all 3 were great! my favourite was the battered prawn. The service was great and the ambieance was fun
Food was good first time, but today guys must have been short staffed. Waited for 10 mins sitting at the bar, was ready to order food, didn't even get offered a drink. Left.
Loved the burrito! Great taste and good size.
Best Mexican Around. I've been to Patrons twice in the past month and actually joined Urbanspoon because I felt so compelled to give them a good review. The food here is excellent. I consider myself a "foodie" and it is better than Salsa and Agave, which is well reviewed. They just opened, so the service isa bit uneven - but there is no issue with the food. The nachos are the best I have ever had. Have them with the beef. These are not greasy cheddar cheese covered ground beef nachos - at Patrons, they use shredded beef shoulder, and the chips are covered in a creamy, sour cream cheese sauce. The tacos are just as good as at La Tacqueria- but better atmosphere. The sangrai is great. Lovely place for a fun night out!
Loves it *****. Best Mexican restaurant in yvr! Great atmosphere, amazing food and excellent staff.what more could you ask for? Must try this place out.
The best huaraches I ever had!!! :)
Finally! Good Mexican Restaurant in Van!!!. Today's visit for lunch at Patron was a complete success.
The menu's got some interesting offerings (huaraches!) as well as a few 'safe' and familiar ones (enchiladas, tortas, nachos). You know the food's going to be good when you can watch the cooks making guacamole from scratch next to a tortilla press.
We had two orders of enchiladas today, one with beef and a thick topping of mole, the other with a kicking verde sauce and shredded chicken; both had a good helping of rice and black beans with queso crumbled atop them. Our third order was a sizeable burrito with perfectly cooked, tender pollo. Jarritos sodas complemented the food nicely, and everything arrived in a timely fashion by attentive, thoughful service staff.
The owner, Eduardo, stopped by our table to announce that he wants everyone who visits to come away happy, so he gladly invites comments from his dining guests. We exclaimed happily that we are glad there's finally a Mexican restaurant in Vancouver that strives for quality, authentic fare and reasonably sized/priced portions that isn't a cheap-eats, no-frills taco shack. We'll be back often!
Amazing food, best salsa in town. Really liked the interior design, and great atmosphere.
This is as authentic as it gets up North and worth a visit. Highly recommend sqenching your thirts with a mojito, margarita on the rocks, an Ice Berg and/or shots. Order some fresh salsa with chips (made in house) and sample every taco on the menu. Take full advantage of the freshly squeezed lime and hot sauce assortment. Full menu sounds great! Did I mention their hostesses, servers and bartenders are easy on the eyes? Portion are generouse and flavors authentic. You gotta stop by and give this new spot a try! Thanks Patron, very tasty :)
Walked by today on our way to the Auto Show and the menu sounded delicious. We stopped in for a snack on our way back to the car. They gave us a big plate of chips and salsa as a free starter. We shared the beef enchiladas and they were fantastic; nicely seasoned with a mild spice to them. We will be back to try other menu items.
Delicious, authentic food & great service!. We visited Patron Tacos & Cantina this past weekend. The decor is warm and inviting and service is awesome. The owners are there greeting people and asking how everything is which was a nice touch, and the kitchen manager Antonio also approached our table to find out how everything was, its nice, they really care about what they are doing. I had Tacos poblano which I definitely recommend trying if you are in the mood for a vegetarian dish. The poblano was the right blend of creamy, yummy poblano pepper stew with just the right amount of seasoning and fresh corn flavour. And the homemade tortillas are amazing!!! Its about time Vancouver got a truly unique and authentic Mexican restaurant and Patron is it. The Tortilla soup and arrachera steak were also great. The tortilla soup was fresh, bursting with flavour and reminded me of soup I have had only in some of the best restaurants in Mexico City. I have to admit I am a bit of a snob when it comes to finding true Mexican food and Patron was impressive. But my favourite on the menu was the guacamole, the avocado was ripe and fresh and perfect seasoning of lime and salt. Definitely recommend this little gem in Yaletown, and I will be back to try more of their menu!
Great and welcome addition to the neighborhood! Dropped by Thursday night with friends and was so impressed I returned the next night with another group. Samuel took great care of us Thursday! Only one minor hitch (slow to get our food), but nothing a few weeks of working out the kinks won't solve. On Friday, the owner was very present in the dining room, greeting all the tables and requesting any feedback. She indicated that the menu is only about half the size it will be as they are still in "soft opening" mode. Both days I was with a diverse group of people and we tried several dishes - no one was disappointed and all said they would be back. Love La Rebelde margarita!
Yummy!. Just visited on Sat Mar 24 and while you can tell the staff still have the jitters, it was a tasty meal. I understand this menu is just their short menu for the soft opening so I look forward to the full menu in a few weeks as I shall be back again.
I was craving for nachos and decided to eat here. Good thing it was not busy and easily got a table for us. Actually the restaurant is also a sports bar so expect more
Not named after the tequila, but just as authentically Mexican. Walking in you immediately felt the cantina part of their name. The music was joyous and full of maracas and drums. A beat that kept the tempo and room light hearted. Authentic music, traditional decorations, and classic food. The bar was hung with local jerseys and the televisions adjacent broadcasted the games of home teams. Bar set up included two slush machines for margaritas, three varieties of patron on display, four Mexican and domestic beers on tap, and five flat screens. A row of high chairs were available in front, for those wanting a better view of the games. The open kitchen was towards the back, and out of the need, the brightest spot in the restaurant. The absence of walls allowed a clear view of the two chefs, working behind all their stainless steal equipment. With heads down, they moved feverishly hands moving. Seats were described and offered as high tops or low tables. Each a dark wood and topped with a
