Review Nuba - Vancouver

Jay Mehta
Decent place. We had a dine-in for a family of four. We didn't make any reservations but were able to find a table quickly. The ambiance and the interiors are impressive. The staff was good and professional. We started off with a Lemonade and a Ginger Beer, followed by a Falafel plate, Najib's Special Plate, and the Feast (two courses). It was more than enough for four people. The taste was fine. There's street parking around which may or may not be available. The location is good, otherwise.

First time trying the Davie street one, we have been to Nubas on Hastings like twice, few years back. We didn't have a reservation and luckily we got the one open table they had at the moment. Small place, our orders are taken promptly. Their fresh juice is a must try, and if you think you will go for the small glass, you definitely will regret later. Go for the large glass, it is worth it. We tried the green power and the carrot orange, oh my god; the flavor and so fresh. The fried cabbage is a must try. Ordered the beef sirloin plate and chata prawns. It was gone in the next few minutes. From the earlier visits, their food will not disappoint you. Also if you get a few moments read about the owner and their team, they started in 2003 and have achieved quite a lot. Definitely fresh, local and very hospitable staff. We will be back!!!

We made reservations to dine at Nuba because it’s usually pretty busy and has limited space. The inside of the restaurant is very nicely designed, especially the booth. All the meat on the menu is halal including the bison, which I never tried before so I of course ordered it. It was good and tasted very similar to regular beef. We tried the Chicken Shish Tawook and Bison Shawarma dishes and they were enough for two people to share. All the staff we interacted with were polite and friendly. As mentioned, the restaurant is busy so they do have a time limit of 90 minutes which was more than enough time for us.

Went to Nuba in the morning. Had a wonderful brunch. The food was so tasty and the service great. The carrot and green juice were wonderful refreshing. A place you will eat lots of good meals.

I virtually swung by on a first time Uber lunch as I regularly grub at this Lebanese joint which makes super yummy vegan options. I got the Fattoush Salad, which was seasoned to perfection and boasted an array of wholesome flavorful veggies with max full flavor. The dish was great, although not the biggest and best value for money comparing to other salad options in the city which have more bulk plus additional proteins. The Najib's Special (Crispy Cauliflower), I can vouch for is dope and crazy addictive. Upon reflection, I personally wouldn't order it again for takeout specific as instead of crispy it curdles into a bit of an oil fest and loses that awesome texture. Nonetheless, I don't see this as a down side to anything on the chefs behalf there. That being said, love the business and the Vegan menu options, a delicious lunch and experience all round! A great vegan and Veggie middle Eastern dining feast! Support local businesses!

I went here today as a late vegan lunch around 3pm. I love the decor and you will get free water and they clean the table after every customer. Washrooms are clean as well. I am giving them 5 stars even though I had to wait for a bit but to be honest I don't mind. I just felt a bit sorry because there was only one server for the full place. He was very good though had everything under control. Food: I ordered the lunch plate (good deal!) for 18.95 you get extra lettuce leaves /(Pita), Hummus (the best I have ever eaten! super creamy and delicious!!!), salad, pickled cabbage, tahini, potatoes (loved them super crispy and hot!) and the cauliflower - if you order the Najib's Special (vegan!!!) like I did. This one to be honest could have been hotter - it was warm when it arrived. I also added extra Baba Ganoush (4$) which was a generous and big portion. The pomegranate sirup was a good contrast on top. The Baba Ganoush could have been a bit better seasoned (maybe more garlic?) would not order again but I am glad I tried it. This place is good and I will return. Patio outside available as well. A drink happy hour with cheaper cocktails would be great as well as Falafel without cilantro... Would love to try them here but they are with cilantro Thanks for this lovely meal - I was starving and so happy to left totally satisfied

This was my first time at this Lebanese joint in Yaletown, Vancouver. I've never had Lebanese food like this. I'm not going to judge based on a first time lunch experience, but I am going to tell you how my lunch was. I had the Lamb Hushwie Pita Wrap. It was GROUND Lamb meat and very dry and I couldn't taste the lamb at all. If you're going to serve GROUND lamb in a wrap...you should put in the description. If they had I would not have ordered it. It really should've been little chunks of lamb and significantly under-seasoned. It looked and tasted like a very awkward sloppy-joe type with stale pita Lebanese food wanna-be. The side Falafel: dry and tasteless. The hummus underneath was ok. The chicken Pita Wrap was slightly better than the Lamb but the bread was stale and flakey. I mean truly when you think of Lebanese food...you think of bold flavours, daring parings and creative presentation and there was none of that. I've had better from food trucks. The location is great. The restaurant atmosphere is bright and clean. The prices are on the higher end ...it's too bad the food doesn't match those criteria. Oh, and they charge for hot water.....$1.25! Disappointing.

Enjoyed my lunch very much. Nice staff. Great location. Found easy parking nearby and the Turkish Coffee ending the end of the meal was superb 👌

Fantastic food at Nuba. There are many locations but I seem to come back to Davie street the most often. Vegetarian options are wonderful. Everything is fresh and beautifully presented.

Nice environment. The chicken we ordered for the kids was really nice. Hubby ordered beef plate which was very good too. I was having a higher expectation on my lamb plate, but it was a bit too dry for me.

The dining room at Nuba yaletown is quite small, so be sure to go early if you don't want to wait.

Nuba's 4 locations have consistently been amongst the most talked about restaurants in Vancouver. To be honest I'm not so sure why theres so much hype built around it. Their drink list was pretty disappointing and the food, although flavorful was underwhelming. My friend and I ordered the le grand feast which came out as a series of dishes, all of which couldn't quite fit on our tiny table. We enjoyed the flavour of everything however, the lamb and chicken were extremely over cooked and dry. Luckily they were served with lots of sauce and hummus to make up for it. Service was casual, almost too relaxed in my opinion.

gets a 1 because it is very NOISY, playing heavy bass laden electronic Muzak. Have to yell to talk. Food was average ok, but it was a drag to be there. My local shawarma take out is more pleasant. Please support quiet restaurants.
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
In my enthusiasm to try a lot of things off a restaurant menu, I typically; a) order too much and take a lot of food home (no problem) or b) order too much and eat too much (not a fan of this unless I can take a nap), so I love it when there is a sampler on a restaurant's menu. My partner and I ordered "La Feast" at Nuba one Saturday afternoon and were able to delight in a good number of Nuba's appetizers and specialties. As a bonus, La Feast is a vegetarian offering (there is a carnivorous option). The first plate came and we enjoyed Hummus, Baba Ghanooj, pickled cabbage and Tabbouleh (taken by itself this is called "Le Petit Feast" on the menu and is a worthy way to start any meal), with whole wheat pita. For any who are not huge fans of eggplant, Baba Ghanooj can be a revelation and this was a fine version. It was smokey and rich and perfect for scooping with the pita. The next platter came with many more items to try. My partner loved the crispy cauliflower with its lovely tart zing. The lentils and rice (Mjadra) were also very nice with smokey middle eastern seasoning. The falafel while being nicely spiced and crispy were a little dry. We dealt with that by eating it with another eggplant concoction (I was not able to identify it but it was excellent) but falafel needs some kind of sauce for sure. Accompanying this were a sample of olives, an excellent Feta and a green salad. We had coffee (cold day) which came in lovely big cups and reminded me of having 'un bol de cafe' in Montreal many years ago. I have not been to other locations of Nuba but this one is light and airy and comfortable. Your neighbors are a little close but I like to see what other people are eating. Service was friendly and efficient although we were promised more pita which never arrived (really?...I have to mention that?). Nice little downtown place for lunch where you can eat healthy (vegetarian) if you chose.

Came here with a friend for lunch. My first impression was it was pretty nice and modern decor. It wasn't a very big restaurant but it was busy though. I ordered the Chicken Tawook with Hummus. Luckily I did say yes when the waitress asked me if I want the hot sauce. The hot sauce was spicy and tasted so good. Well enough with my obsession for hot sauce for now but make sure you ask for hot sauce on the side. My dish tasted pretty good but I didn't like the rice. I thought the rice was lack of flavour. The chicken was tasty and they also gave you roasted potatoes, side salad and pickled cabbage I think. It was a big dish for me during lunch but my friend thought the portion was decent. They also gave us pita bread. He also liked his dish. Overall I like the food there and the customer service was friendly. The food came out within 5 minutes so it was really quick during the afternoon. Each dish is around $15. I definitely will come back here to try other dishes.

I decided to order the Chicken Tawook Plate ($15), which is a gluten-free plate with grilled chicken breast cooked in a garlic sauce, and my friends ordered Najib's Special Plate ($13), which is a vegetarian and gluten-free plate with crispy cauliflower tossed in lemon and sea salt, and Chicken Tawook Pita ($10), which is the same grilled chicken breast as in my meal, but rolled in pita bread with organic greens, tomato, and homemade pickle. The Chicken Tawook Plate and Najib's Special Plate are served with hummus, salad, pickled cabbage, olives, pita, and your choice of organic brown rice or roasted potatoes (I asked for half and half to try both!), as well as tahini and hot sauce on the side.

All three plates were amazing! The seasoning of the chicken was delicious and the cauliflower was so crispy and flavourful. Being Turkish myself, I make hummus at home and hadn't found a restaurant in Vancouver that made it right - until now. The hummus was almost as good as how my mum taught me. The only part of the dish I didn't like was the brown rice, but next time I will order just the roasted potatoes in its place, as opposed to half and half.

For the beautiful atmosphere, generous portions, friendly service, and flavours, I would highly recommend Nuba for lunch!

For a more detailed review, visit my food blog at dinevancouverbc.wordpress.com or Instagram @dinevancouver :)

Shame on Nuba for not having an accessible entrance!! People with wheelchairs, walkers, strollers etc cannot get into this restaurant. This is unacceptable and discriminatory. Nuba, it's 2016, smarten up!

It's like fast food, but not fast food. The food here is so fresh, tasty and pretty. Chicken Tawook was over cooked, howeber really well seasoned and tasted great in the green chutney. The hummus is soo freaking good here. Also low the pickles and olives that come with this dish. Definitely recommend trying the date finger dough desert with dates. Very yummy!

The hummus, the cauliflower, the lamb!!! Everything was amazing! Portions were deceiving.. thought we wouldn't be as full as we were when we left. The Yaletown location is super small but they'll be moving into a larger space soon.

Do yourself a favor and order your meal as a plate to get the most out of your Nuba experience. Ask for EXTRA PITA (no charge) - everything on their menu tastes better wrapped and pita. My cauliflower wasn't crispy which is the only reason I'm not giving them a 5/5. Everything else was excellent.

I'm so glad Me and my friends tried this place out, The food did not disappoint! I had the najib special with a side of chicken tawook skewer, my friends got a lamb dish and fruits et feta salad. The crispy cauliflower, I find was a little soggy but it was flavorful with hints of lemon in it, the chicken is very nice and well seasoned. although I didn't get to taste the lamb( as I don't eat lamb), I can tell that my friend liked it as she finished her plate clean. I've never been a salad eater when I dine out but boy is that fruit and feta salad out of this world! Sweet from the dried fruits and salty from the feta.. it's a wonderful combination. I would go back to this place again and again and again...

Had been here twice once for lunch and once for dinner, I would say the taste of the food here are decent. i would say the things that I order maybe it's not my preference in terms of the texture of some of the food, there's one item that i can't remember what it's but inside is too grainy too me, i personally don't really like food that have grainy texture. :( although it was deepfried, the outside is solid but the inside is definitely grainy, and the taste of the food is towards the milder taste i'll say. i'm not really a big fan of mild taste for these guys, but it was definitely not bad for taste and the overall food i'll say.

I will not recommend the place, just because it's not my prefered type of cuisine and the style of cooking and taste is not my preference. but definitely an okay restaurant.

2nd try, the lamb shank is quite good. but other than that it's just okay, i'll say.

I came here today to meet up with a friend visiting in town. She's vegan so Nuba popped in my mind, as I remembered the variety of vegan options on the menu on my previous trip at the Mount Pleasant location. I didn't do much research beforehand but entering I noticed how much tinier the place was! Although it was noon, there were some empty seats.

I ordered the Baba Ghanoosh. Nuba offers mezze (appetizers), lunch plates and wraps. Last time, I shared a lunch plate with a friend and it definitely filled us up, so this time, I went for a mezze for myself. This came on a plate with some pickled cabbage a literally two leaves of lettuce. The dip was plentiful, and the waitress told us to let her know if we wanted extra pitas. It was my first time trying baba ghanoosh, and even though it is eggplant based, it tasted more lemony to me, almost overly lemony.. It was still delicious and very appetizing though! (3.5/5)

Food: 3.5/5
Service: 3.5/5
Value: 4/5
Ambiance: 4/5

Nuba’s a tiny place and fills up fast but somehow still manages to feel friendly and cozy even with the polished concrete floors and bare walls. And come summertime I’ll be more than happy to pick up a wrap to go and eat in the nearby park.

Wow, I don't think I've ever gotten so full off of a fully vegetarian meal LOL. Usually I'm still hungry after and end up eating a second meal hours later! ;) Nuba's lunch combos are a great deal, you can get any one of their dishes in a plate, as an appy, or in a wrap! The person beside me ordered a wrap and that thing was HUGE!! I am so getting that next time!! I went with a plate for more of a variety! Their cauliflower is one of Nuba's signature dishes, they're fried, and dusted with an delectable blend of salt and lemon

Not just for vegans. Nuba is one of those places that have a good amount of options for vegans or vegetarians to try out, but it is not exclusively catered to them. This Lebanese place offers great falafels (garden falafel in case you are indecisive) and smoothies.

Healthiest Food I Ate in Vancouver!. Nuba is the best! Small clean restaurant, helpful staff, and most of all delicious food. With something for everyone this menu is bound to please. The lunch platters are plentiful and are as pretty as a picture served. I had the falafel plate with rice and my husband the majadra special with potatoes. Orange juice was fresh and tasted like the fruit had just been picked! There was so much food I really had to take my time and savour every bite. Our younger companions opted for wraps, the lamb and the garden falafel which for wrap sandwiches were large and filling. We also enjoyed Turkish coffee for the first time. As a visitor to Vancouver it was a wonderful respite from all the slightly "fancier" restaurants that abound downtown. Good food is cooked and served here.
All the pictures I have seen posted for this restaurant are accurate and the food is that tasty! I will definitely recommend this restaurant.

Very polite, professional and quick service. The food was delicious. The staff is very allergy conscious... I went for dinner yesterday and I'm going for lunch today. I was impressed.

Def worth the trip. Lamb kafta was perfect and the cauliflower app was outstanding. Healthy, beautiful and delicious food. Friendly, helpful staff. Great options for gluten free wife as well.

Meh. Not that flash.. I was disappointed after my recent trip here for a late lunch. I had been looking forward to trying it after hearing great reviews from people. My falafel was tasting ok until I started coming across the browning greens that they had included. The falafel also tasted pretty old. On the up side I did taste some of my friends le petit feast and the hummus and baba ganooj were tasty. I think i would try it again but at one of the other locations. The space was tiny and and not particularly comfortable. Mainly set up as a to-go establishment rather than sit down. Also the guy who took my order was rather vague. When he brought the food and we asked if he would mind taking the falafel back and cut it in half we had to wait a ridiculously long time. It as not busy and you can see into the kitchen where he was just casually chatting on the phone. How hard is it to cut a falafel!

Just ordered the mjadra to go only to be extremely disappointed when I got home to eat it. Salad was old and soggy, avacado was littered with black marks through it. Have had decent experiences previously but this time I was let down.

Nuba is fresh natural and absolutely delicious. The best place to eat for health conscious people. Great vibe and service, highly recommended!

A great little meal for an inexpensive price. This is only my second visit to Nuba since moving to Vancouver two years ago but I now regret not going more frequently. I can only speak for the Nuba in Yaletown as it is the only location that I have visited but I have heard very good things about the others as well and I am happy that there is now a new one opened in my neck of the woods over in Kits.
I must admit that I am not an expert in Lebanese or Afghan cuisine so it is possible that the food here is not quite authentic (as has been pointed out by many reviewers). But authentic or not, this is very tasty food. I had the Mjadra plate, which includes green lentils over rice, hummus, pita, olives and a salad. The lentils are elevated to the next level with crunchy onions and a few pieces of sliced avocado for some texture variation. I thought this was quite a steal for under $11 and it filled me up just nicely.
The service was very friendly and the server behind the cash seemed to know the dishes well. I got my meal to takeout (such a beautiful day, I wanted go eat in the nice park across the street!) and I had my meal within 5 minutes of ordering.
They have a great selection of both meat and veggie dishes. Looking forward to my next visit so that I can try another!

You'll only enjoy it if you know nothing about Arabic food. Gross and disappointing

Amazing food. Fast friendly service. Will go here every time I'm in Vancouver!!

Garden falelfal had fresh ingredient and cooked fresh. chicken tawook was also very well grilled. enjoyed both dishes!

Nuba Nonsense. Eating there was such a disappointment, after the high ratings I was expecting something so different and so much better. Walking into Nuba the "hole in the wall" enviornment throws you off, it mislead me to think this was the typical hole in the wall, low prices and generous portions. I ordered the "petit feast" for $15 expecting to be stuffed and have leftovers to take home. My petit feast was a measley portion of hummus and baba ganooj, I was still hungry once I finished it. The hummus was poor quality slightly sour with too much lemon, the baba ganooj was fine, but not great and once again there was so little of either dip it was hard to get a good taste. The best part of the "feast" was a garnish sized portion of cabbage (the "pickle" I guess) it just seemed so ridiculous that they would skimp on something so cheap as cabbage! Finally, the worst part was the pita bread which tasted like it came from superstore's day old bakery section, stale, dry, and chewy.
My boyfriend ordered the Lamb Kafta for $12, it too was a very small portion, the Lamb tasted dry and flavorless and had been made into pathetic little meatballs. We were both so let down, and leaving the restaurant we somehow felt like we had been cheated :(

July 26. Went here for lunch today. Had great service delicious food and they very quickly replaced my entire meal after accidentally serving me something that had gluten in it (basically they had just put pita with the food and my fellow celiacs out there will appreciate how unfortunate it is to have to turn down food that has been in contact with an obvious source of gluten!)

All in all it was a very positive experience. Their food is amazing and the staff is sweet
AguaDeSiesta
Not that great. This place really wasn't that good. The green lentil dish was decent, but didn't really have much flavor. The chicken dish was fine but nothing special. The falafel, however, was pretty bad. The frying oil must not have been hot enough because they had no crisp and the inside had the texture of bread. Decent value, but I would not recommend the food.
Jay
Id like to say the service was Terrible, I ordered food Recently and the told me it would be ready at 5.50, I arrive to pick up my food at 5.45, and tried on many occasions to get the attention of the girl behind the counter and they just looked at me like I was invisible! Eventually I just sat and waited thinking they might actually ask me who I am and what I was waiting for since I was in the waiting chair, but still no one bothered to ask if I was ok! I waited to 6.10 pm and got up and left with out my food! If they can't learn customer service or just some polite manners then this is what happen, another customer finished ! Never to dine again, it's a shame, Arabic food my my favorite back home we'd eat out regularly!
Tammyrafter
Not for me. I tried Nuba with my husband this past weekend based on how many great reviews there were on here.
First off, there was no heat in the restaurant and it almost felt as though they were pumping cold air into the place. We were all freezing and eating with our coats on.
But I can totally ignore that for good Lebanese food...
Didn't happen.
I will admit that the food is very fresh and the portions were decent but that's where it ended.

The lentil soup was ok but our plates were lacking.
It just didn't taste authentic to us AT ALL. It was as though it was put together with basic ingredients you or I could buy at the supermarket. No talent necessary.
Also, I love my Lebanese chicken shaved off one of those large rotisseries. I'm not a fan of large, round pieces of char-broiled chicken that come off a grill...they tasted so burnt that I was actually pulling the chicken out of the sandwich and just eating the pita with veggies.
No garlic sauce, no garlic potatoes, no pickled turnips...
No going back.

Consistently terrific. Fresh, flavorful and reasonably priced.

With a great menu.... I chose the most boring one. Chicken wrap. The meat was a bit tough ( chicken breast, not a huge fan) but overall it was a good one.

The music may be louder and hard rock, but the staff is friendly, the food is excellent and good value. Often crowded and lined up for a reason.

Not as Fancy, Just as Good. The first Nuba restaurant I went to is on Hastings, where the decor and servers are wonderful. This Nuba is cafe-like with plastic tables and benches and a pay-when-ordering cashier arrangement. The menus are different too -- "plates" can be served for dinner here whereas only tapa-like orders are available at the Hastings restaurant. Though both atmospheres are different, the food is equally stellar. To recap: Nuba on Hastings is a fancier, restaurant setup and Nuba on Seymour is a casual cafe. Both serve consistently fantastic food!
Digest
Plenty for the Vegetarian. This Nuba venue is a basic cafe, with just a few tables and no pretensions to glamour, but middle eastern food lends itself to this style of eating really well, and there's enough care been taken with the decor (and with the menu) to give this place the classy vibe that seems to be characteristic of this part of Yaletown. Simple but flavourful vegetarian and vegan options predominate.
Mintymint
Stay Away. At 6PM I entered Nuba (on Seymour) and asked if I could order take-out for a 7:10 pick-up. They said fine, and that it would be ready at 7!. I place my order. I come by at 7, wait 20 minutes on line and then am told that the cook forgot my order. While I was waiting the 20 minutes on line I noticed the cook was handling the falafel patties by hand without any gloves. So maybe I was lucky.

If they don't frustrate you by ignoring your order they may very well kill you by filling it!

Bottom line-stay away.
Ben Senise
I left hungry. I agree with many of the other reviews here, the food was fairly good but the portions very small. i would have to order two plates to be satisfied.
would i go back? probably not
Gotta Eat
Small portion, but good food. I had the beef sirloin plate and my friend had the chicken plate and they were both very very good. I especially liked the roasted potato. THe hummus was a little garlicky for my taste, but it was still very delicious. THe portions were definitely small, but it was enough for me. I'm going to have to come back to try the fried cauliflower.

Tasty,Fast, healthy, cheap meal. This is my dream eatery manifested. Fresh, light, organic Lebanese food prepared on the fly. After a brisk walk past shops, and under scaffolding on a Friday evening, my dining companion and I arrived in the cozy est. 400 sq. ft teak dining space, occupied by hip young souls. The menu is full of organic, healthy options with a coded m for meats, v for vegetarian next to the items, all else is Vegan. I chose the red lentil soup, it was warm, spiced and sweetened with grated carrots. My dining mate chose the Lamb Kofta, served with brown rice, wheat pitas, hummus, a small salad and traditional Lebanese pickled turnips. The meal was tasty and dinner was served for under $20!
Palatte Pleaser
Over-valued. Decent tasting food with two big drawbacks: small portions and over-priced. The platter meal for two = appetizer for one.
The Tongue
Where is the food? Ordered a dinner for two... Looked enough for one. Poor value.

Great food, great value. Only eaten here once but it was fantastic. Babaganoush pita wrap, hauntingly smoky aubergine, perfect zing from the lemon. Nice salad mix in with it all. A whole meal, tasty and healthy and filling for about $6. Friendly service by people obviously interested in their food, was asked specifically what i thought of the food. And cool music to boot in a nice dining room. Thumbs right up.

Yummy. I love Nuba. The food is so tasty and the selection is great. Lots of vegetarian options, and the takeout comes in environmentally friendly containers.

To sum it up: “over-priced, over-rated, over-cooked and over-salted” Is it THAT bad? Well no.. But all my points are still valid.
CreamyBlue
The chicken was well marinated and with a bit of charcoal grille flavour. As for the texture itself, certainly very tender and every bite was flavourful. There were tons of veggies in there and the pita was thin and soft. It felt like eating a donair w

Nuba Yaletown is located on Seymour and Davie Street. If you are a fan of the Nuba chain of restaurants, this location is equally as good. Since Flo moved in across the street, we wanted to search for some dinner close by. When turning on the Urbanspoon App, we discovered this was literally half a block away. They sell amazing Lebanese cuisine and fresh juices. The interior is very different from the other Nuba’s. It’s smaller and structured more for take out orders. There are a few tables, but can get quite busy during peak hours. Najib’s Special ($11.25) is crispy cauliflower tossed with lemon and sea salt, served with tahini. It also has hummus, salad, pickled cabbage, olives, pita and your choice of organic brown rice or roasted potatoes. I usually choose the organic brown rice. This item was very delicious as usual and is one of the most popular items. It’s vegetarian and gluten free. Beef Brochette ($13) has a local grass-fed beef skewer and served with tahini sauce. arbiter of health :Yaletown: I've heard Nuba come out of everyone's mouth here in Vancouver at one point or another. It's Lebanese and apart from the fact the cuisine is generally healthier, Nuba takes it to another level: Fresh, organic and local (when possible) Many vegan options Halal, non-medicated and hormone-free meats The hummus was really good, although I preferred the baba ghanooj : Le Petit Feast$16 The chicken was very flavourful: Chicken Tawook with Hummus$12.50 The end result? Great, fresh tasting food but don't come here hungry - well at least if you're me. Friday night the sister and I ventured out with insatiable appetites. We left happy with our dishes, but were far from satisfied. It's also on the pricier end - I'm used to plentiful and value sized portions when it comes to Middle Eastern...I've been told to let go of that now that I'm in Vancouver. I've been told to let go of a lot of things. I suppose it's time I spring clean my appetite encyclopedia to make r

Cafe Nuba is a small little restaurant on Seymour. At this Nuba, you place your order at the cashier and then go find a seat. There isn’t ver much seating at all, and I think they do a lot more take out than eating in. Honestly, I prefer the cooler Nuba restaurant on W Hastings. Seems like this is more fast food. I remembered a few dishes that I had last time that I really wanted again, and since it was my friends first time there, I figured I’d order stuff I knew was good. We ordered the Najib’s Special, Chicken Tawook, and the Lamb Kibbeh plate. I’ve been eating a lot of falafel’s recently, so I also ordered the Garden Falafel. The Najib’s Special was just as good. Highly spiced cauliflower packed with flavour and a bit crisp, and quite tender. This is really good, and my friend’s favourite dish of the bunch. It’s a nice appetizer to start with. The Falafel was really crisp, almost close to be burned. However, once you get past the really crisp breading, the chick pea a

One of the places I often go for takeout in the Yaletown area is Nuba Cafe . While there is another Nuba Restaurant in the downtown area on West Hastings, I have never been to the original larger location. Last night, I decided to go back there again beca
