Been wanting to try this Ramen place out for a while. Karaage Ramen is new to the city. I was surprised there was only a short lineup. We tried the classic, the karaage, the curry ramen. All very nice. But consider the normal 15 plus people line-up, I would not come to downtown just for this bowl of ramen.

There is always a long line outside so we had to check this place out. We got the atomic spicy ramen with chashu and the same with karage. First and foremost the atomic spicy is not really spicy, so if you like spicy go for atomic for sure because just spicy might disappoint you. Other than that the soup is great it , love the thickness of the soup. The noodles are thicker than other places but it goes well with the soup. Egg is good. The chashu is thicker than many places making it tougher than other places, I prefer my chashu to be thinner. The karage was really really good. It was well marinated and perfectly cooked and tender, you could tell the flavor of the marinate in the chicken separately even after dipping it in the soup. Over all good bowl of ramen.
Edit: We went here again and got the medium dense soup base. Upon consideration, we would probably prefer the dense one.

This place probably have the biggest line to get in at 12:00 pm, but that shouldn´t scare you this place have a fast service, as soon as you get in they will guide you to your table, always smiling and giving you the best they have.

The place is a little small so that is something you should think about it but it is really good.

The Crispy Chicken Ramen is so good, it´s a great combination with the crispy chicken and the spicy of the soup.

Great place to go if you´re cold and want to have a relax meal.

This place gets quite busy around lunch time. Great location is key, but that’s not it - the ramen is also delicious. The crispy chicken combined with spicy ramen was flavourful. The broth is yummy combined with their thick noddle which was very filling. A must try for ramen lovers!

I always see a lineup for this place, but thankfully when I decided to try it there was no wait.
I got the Tsukemen and it was very delicious! Broth was really good. The Chashu was alright (I've had better), but it was still pretty good !
The portion is pretty big also in my opinion (:

Pretty delicious tonkotsu chicken broth! I love the fried garlic in top, it really seasons the bowl well. 😋 The fried chicken is great, not too heavily battered or fried. The noodles were the least impressive part of the meal - a little too al dente and maybe too much of it in the bowl.

The presentation of their food is very appetizing. However the broth was a bit on the saltier side. I ordered a side of gyoza and I thought it was better than the ramen. I would come back but the place is quite small and when I went, we had to wait outside in a line for at least 30 min.

Seems like there must always be a line up here but we never have to wait too long. I had the regular size, mildly spicy kararage ramen and my partner had the mildly spicy chashu ramen both with rich broth. We were both happy and full and felt no need to order the larger size or Bakamori.  Noodles were nicely firm and the broth was just warming and tasty. The karage does not stay crispy in the soup. How could it?  Still the chicken coating soaks up a bit of the rich broth and is very pleasant. We also tried their gyoza which are apparently made in house and they were nicely browned and tasty although the filling could have used a little more punch. Don't sit near the door on a windy day! Friendly folks and efficient service.

By far the richest and most flavourful broth in the city. We always end up ordering their classic karaage chicken ramen and are never disapointed.

Having been a couple times I've learned a couple of things: Namely, best time to go to avoid the line is 11ish on the weekends or just get Take Out anytime and skip the line all together. To avoid getting disappointed from your bowl of bean sprouts with a side of noodles order the Tsukemen, the fried chicken or the gyozas.

Gojiro focuses on jiro-style ramen, which is ramen that features a mountain of toppings. I also really liked the interior design, it was very simplistic, clean, and modern with some Godzilla-themed decor here and there.

4.5/5  When they gave us a paper bib I knew we were in for a treat.Vancouver is known for it's vibrant food scene, including likely one of the best Japanese food selection out of Japan. This was no exception. The first JIRO style ramen in Canada. Jiro means that the portion size is MASSIVE. Piles and piles of food is what they are about. Usually caters to hungry uni students. Let's begin.

One of benefits of being a food blogger is everyone coming to you with their favourite places to eat. This one was recommended by a coworker. She raved about their large portions and being more than full from a small bowl of noodles. Her glowing review had me checking “Gojiro” out for myself. And after some drinking, ramen on this cold night was the perfect way to sober up and warm up.

It's alright, didn't live up to all the expectations. Noodles were a bit too thick for my liking and if you get the fried chicken whatever ramen, the chicken will get soggy really quick. they added too much garlic to my broth, gave me the runs afterwards. 3.5/5 i guess

○ok service
○first come first serve
○portion very small and on the pricey side
○parking is a hassle (then again it's downtown so that's kind of expected)
○tasty soup but more on the saltier side
○limited item
○if I had go choose 1 dish : spicy teriyaki chasu mini don (summer menu - not spicy at all tho )
○would I go back? Maybe

We came here for a late dinner. It was around 9pm, but there was still lineup outside the ramen restaurant. That was crazy!

Lots of people inside the restaurant. The turnover was quite fast. It was not a super long wait; otherwise we would have left already.

All the servers are Japanese girls. They worked very hard and always maintained their great attitudes and smiles on their faces. Great service in another word! :)

Many customers ordered ramen with karaage (fried chicken) or fried chicken by itself as snacks. Their fried chicken tasted excellent with crispy texture outside and tendered inside. My boyfriend ordered tsukemen with friend chicken. I ordered a basic ramen with fried chicken with rich soup. The ramen was very thick like spaghetti! It was quite firm that I was okay with the texture but some people might not like the thickness and firmness. When I was eating the ramen, they tasted delicious. However, I was extremely thirsty drinking lots of water after I got home. That means their soup base or food had a lot of MSG!! If you are not used to MSG or you are allergic to MSG, don't eat their ramen or have their soup base or you may want to try their light soup base.

Many customers ordered bigger bowls of ramen with fried chicken and lots of bean sprouts. I personally eat bean sprouts but I wouldn't want to pay extra to eat so much bean sprouts. The bean sprouts just makes the presentation of the dish look bigger and more exaggerating. I personally would like to evaluate more on the quality, smell and taste of the food itself.

Overall, my eating experience was average as the food was good but waiting in line after 9pm was not a pleasant thing to do at late night plus I was very thirsty after dinner.

So my camera broke. My faithful little Sony A5000...poor little guy. He's being operated on right now, having his guts gutted out. He'll return home in a few weeks. Pray for his speedy recovery.   So I've been lugging around his older brother, specimen #D5300. Hefty ol' thing.   Now that it's summer I've been reading quite a bit. I just finished Animal Farm, and started reading Aldous Huxley's A Brave New World. Whenever I read something compelling I like to take on the characteristics of that particular author. So I've pretty much been spewing allegorical nonsense for the past few days (for my own amusement.)

I've been wanting to try Ramen Gojiro since they opened (I was waiting for the hype to die down, I hate crowds.) I've read some great and not-so-great reviews online, but decided that I wanted to see for myself...taste is subjective, after all!

Intrigued by the concept of jiro-style ramen, I decided to make the trek downtown to see what all the fuss was about. The promised fried chicken sealed the deal.

The ramen was a sight to behold. A massive, deep ended bowl piled high with bean sprouts...adorned with a brooch of fried chicken. I hungrily devoured my chicken kaarage and ordered a second plate.

The girl who served me was unbelievably nice! A girl plopped down next to me just as I was about to begin my meal and she was wearing a really strong perfume. I started sneezing (I'm allergic to perfume) so I asked the waitress if I could change seats...and she happily obliged!!

Holy portions! I tried the spicy ramen (I asked for the 2/3 spiciness) but it wasn't spicy at all. They give you the option to enlarge your ramen too ..good thing I didn't because I couldn't even finish mine! The meat was cold in the hot soup but I just pushed it underneath. I asked for the lighter soup and it wasn't too salty but still tasty. The noodles were thicker and more aldente making it more chewier. A must try on a rainy day!!

The place is not bad, but not outstanding either. The broth is rich and delicious, but I don't really like the noodle. I prefer the traditional ramen noodle you find at Santouka. The pork chashu wasn't that good either - It lacks flavour. My friend had the fried chicken one and that was way better. The Gyoza is not crispy enough. I'll probably visit again, but will only order the chicken karaage ramen.

a part of Japanese Ramen tour of Vancouver with a lovely nomnom-er

relatively a new place (on my way to work everyday!)
ended up trying it on a rainy day

busy place around 630pm
real japanese staffs shouting welcome japanese words

probably one of the best japanese style deep fried chicken (on top of ramen or as side)
but the ramen noodle itself left so much more to desire

First time,
Not as good as I thought but not bad...
The soupbase is really good, but the noodles is too thick and hard...and too salty taste like it has been soaked in the soup for quite some time.

The chashu is pretty good!
And they gave u lots of bean sprouts.

The Gyoza is really really good! The skin is super thin. I think i like their gyoza tbe most among all the other ramen places.

I will give a 3.5 becoz their service are really good!

Yummy! I was very sceptical of this spot as I am with most Ramen places I do to. I think it was the very thick style noodles that threw me off. But, I was wrong. This place has very delicious ramen. I actually enjoyed how large the noodles were and there Ajitama was spot on. I actually realized I prefer it not sliced because it stays softer. The brother was rich, but not overbearingly fatty like Jiru. Also for the amount of good in their basic (I couldn't finish it), at $11 it was a steal!

I've had the basic karaage and chashu.  Liked the broth, and the generous serving of bean sprouts on top.  However, would be nice to have more meat (I realize there's the bakamori, but that seems a bit much).

Both times I've visited I got the regular sized bowl with chicken karaage and a rich broth. The karaage is delicious but I wish it came on a side plate because unless you inhale the pieces of chicken the moment you get your noodles, they'll be soggy. The noodles here are different - thicker and much more difficult to slurp. The amount of bean sprouts they pile onto your noodles is insane. The garlic paste garnished on the sprouts is potent but if you mix it in with the broth, it just blends in. Corn is extra $ and you probably don't need it since there are a ton of things going on in the bowl. The broth is piping hot and very flavorful. There are literally chunks of fat that float around on the surface so if you want a low-fat meal option, good luck !

Hello everyone I'm back this time I want to introduce Gojiro Ramen. I guess you all heard the hype how great it is. I couldn't say more better. I personally think this is definitely the place for quantity and volume very rich soup base for ramen. Noodles are perfectly match along with sprouts, although its a too much. Finish with a little bit of garlic on top of sprout, don't just eat the sprout mix first with garlic and gives more refreshing taste to it. Now on to the meat I could say it's a bit some what disappointing on thickness. The chef could've cut a bit more thin to enhance the taste. Given the meat time to soak up on rich soup base?

Everyone's been talking about the new ramen place, so of course we had to try it too. I'm not a big fan of ramen, but I was down to try the cold ramen with dipping sauce since seeing it at another ramen place.

Basic Bakamori with Chicken Karage - IT IS HUGE! That bowl was like a mountain. The chicken karage is so good. Crunchy and lots of meat, not fat. If I wasn't already so full, I would order a side order of it. IMO it had way too much beansprouts. Every bite felt like it was beansprouts. It sorta ruined the enjoyment of ramen.

Tsukemen (cold) with Chashu - I LOVED IT. The dipping sauced contained bunch of pork fat to enhance the flavour. It camed with a side bottle of vinegar if you wished to add it to your dipping sauce. The vinegar made my tastebuds go WOW, but my BF didn't like the vinegar taste as it was too overpowering. The sauce comes really hot, so becareful, but it gets cold fast from the noodles.

I would return for the chicken karage and tsukemen!

Coles Notes: Ramen isn't the greatest but as the name suggest if you want a Godzilla-sized ramen the basic bakamori $13.55, It sure is to fill you up big time. "More meat. More noodles. More toppings. More everything. If you're hungry, we are glad you're reading this." They weren't kidding. please heed the warning.

Ramen Gojiro is specialized in Jiro-style, also known as Gatsuri-style, as the name suggest. The portions are GODZILLA-sized! hence the name, Ramen Gojiro. The Ramen itself isn't too great, the broth was alright, there was way too many bean sprouts, there is no need to pay additional $.75 cents for the extra. I loved the Yuzu Kosho It was damn amazing! The Chicken Karaage was damn good too. My girlfriend said they are going to be selling beer soon, I could see some Karaage and Beer in the future. Rating 5.0 because they delivered on the promise, also everything went well and had a good time.

Last week, my friends and I met up downtown for a late night dinner at Ramen Gojiro, a new ramen shop that opened up on Dunsmuir Street close to Granville Station. What sets Ramen Gojiro apart from the other ramen places around Vancouver is their broth. Traditional ramen jiro consists of a tonkotsu broth with shoyu giving it an almost thin pork gravy-like consistency served with thick noodles. At Ramen Gojiro, the broth is pork and chicken based ramen so there’s a slight tweak from the traditional ramen jiro. Nevertheless, you can still expect your bowl of ramen here to be fatty and rich.

Most of the stuff you'll read on here about Gojiro is true. Big portions, lots of garlic, lots of beansprouts, thick, springy noodles..but is that a bad thing??Gojiro certainly uses a different formula than the other ramen shops in town. But that doesn't make it bad. The portions ARE indeed massive and I found myself full after one Spicy Karaage Ramen. There IS a lot of garlic, but I love garlic, and it made the broth pretty addicting. There IS lots of beansprouts, but vegetables are great, and it didn't ruin the dish. The noodles were thick and springy too! But they make them in house and they were honestly pretty good quality. Is it the best Ramen in town? Definitely not. But it just opened and I think it's worth a shot to see for yourself.

Came here during lunch hour at about 12:10and got sat (for two) in about 20 minutes. Lots of hype as there is not much ramen in the downtown core. Options include chicken Karrage ramen, chashu ramen - small or large - and spice level. I found the noodles to be thicker, broth to be bit heavier ...but nonetheless overall decent place. Would come back here for lunches.

Ramen Gojiro is a newly opened ramen shop located on Dunsmuir within walking distance of Pacific Centre mall. I first knew about this when I saw the huge bowls of towering ramen on Instagram, and decided I have to check it out with Queen B during our lunch hour. Since we worked close by, it was a quick and easy lunch stop!

The Spicy Chasu Pork ("spicy/medium" amount of spice) is an amazing dish. From the amount of fat on the pork, to the chili, broth, and ball of barely-diced garlic; it's all amazing.Sprouts and noodles galore, and huge portion sizes even going the regular.Would recommend going the "Atomic Breath" level of spice if you like heat at all; "Spicy" heat was present in the medium but would be on the level of a mild in any other restaurant.Very good broth, but not as rich & thick as I was expecting from Jiro.Gyoza was gyoza, good but would not get them next time; the ramen is all I need from this amazing place. Only had to wait 10 minutes for a table, and shared with another couple. Tiny place with good energy.

Sister restaurant to Ramen Butcher by the Menya Kouji group, which is in my top 2 alongside Santouka. Jiro-style noodles were thick and chewy and perfect with the rich, fatty, garlicky broth. Hours later, I can't stop thinking about the broth. And to top it with juicy, crispy chicken Karaage is genius. Japanese fried chicken is on another level - garlic, ginger, soy marinade with a crispy corn starch coating. We ordered the original and shared an order of Karaage and couldn't finish our bowls. They have Bakamori (monster size / "stupid large") options for those with big appetites, along with spicy and sliced pork options. I can't wait to go back.

Ramen lovers, get ready for some more noodle slurping!  Vancouver’s newest addition to the ramen scene, Ramen Gojiro, is now open.  Located at 501 Dunsmuir in Downtown Vancouver, Ramen Gojiro start serving customers just yesterday and will continue their soft opening until Tuesday.  Ramen Gojiro is owned by The Menya Kouji Group, who owns over 150 restaurants in Japan as well as Ramen Butcher in Chinatown.  As a ramen lover, I was excited to try out Ramen Gojiro and I headed there for lunch today.

Ramen Gojiro is Vancouver's newest ramen addition which is managed under the same company's as Ramen Butcher in Chinatown (Menya Kouji Group)- which is quite obvious after noticing the design similarities between the two shops. However, unlike Ramen Butcher, Ramen Gojiro occupies a much smaller space and allows for a more cozy environment that most traditional ramen shops like to have.
