I have lived in BC for 11 years now and my first time going to this restaurant was saturday night!! The food was amazing, the service was impeccable and it is BY FAR the best place I have ever eaten out here!!! I loved that it is a whole dining experience and the taste of the food blew my tastebuds away!! The price was outstanding for what you get!! Will definitely be returning and introducing it to new people!!
Best in Vancouver, and the staff services are also literally the best that we and our friends have experienced in Vancouver ever. Quality food, quality service, fair/ reasonable prices. Whether it’s lunch with friends, a casual date night or a gathering with a large group of friends it’s perfect��

Good ventilation. Unlike other BBQ place, you don't feel too much smoke and smell in the restaurant. Price is very reasonable.
The Horn of the Bull...BBQ restaurant is amazing every-time we have attended. The whole 2 hour experience is highly entertaining with delicious food, compassionate and friendly service, and the price point is ideal for an all-inclusive meal plan. We are eager for our next dinner there.

Every time I have been to Gyu Kaku, I have always overall had a great experience. Tonight the service was exceptionally great. I want to thank our waiter, Shinji, for being very accommodating to our change of plans, despite it being very busy, and for make our experience even more special than normal. I was very happy with the food, wonderful as always. I always feel welcomed and never had a bad experience. This is truly one of my favourite restaurants.

Absolutely my most favorite bbq place! Even looked for the one in the Philippines when we visited there. So fall all 3 locations I've been to all have great food and great service. Will no doubt try out other locations across the globe if i have the chance - just to satisfy my gyu kaku cravings! :)

Hello everyone, here is another restaurant food review and this time my significant other and I decided to visit this restaurant several times these past several months since the Fall of 2019 to recent days on Feb 10, 2020. We dined at this chain restaurant called Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ ( Vancouver – Broadway Location). We only pay a visit on a Monday as this restaurant at all locations have an All Day Monday Happy Hour Menu which is a really great value for just the two of us.

We really love yakiniku so jumped at the chance. There was a problem, though… it seemed like everyone else had the same idea and the reservations were fully booked for all 3 of their locations (unless we wanted to eat dinner at 9pm). So, we waited 3 weeks for our reservation and were really excited to try it!
Gyu-Kaku has been on my radar for quite some time but we’ve only just managed to visit this place in late November. Gyu-Kaku is a chain of Japanese yakiniku houses which specializes in self-grilled meats that the diner cooks at the table. Generally, you see this much more prevalent in Korean cuisine so it’s nice to try this Japanese version.
$2! $3! $4! For delicious meat for weekdays lunch time! You'd think they give you crappy food for that price, but it's amazingly delicious. So, aside from barbecue meet, we order some sides or fried chicken and dumplings!. Their lunch hour is pretty long! So, yummy food for many hours!. Finally the meat came. Time to cook some meat!

Love the selection of meat especially the quality! The filet mignon and New York steak! They are very tender and juicy!
Their set menu we ordered today was phenomenal. The five courses of meat was outstanding.

• I recommend reservations as this place is always busy & jam packed, you’ll see why
• meal sets are pretty good, its good enough for 2-3 people $50 for the good ones
• the meat marinade is just so good that it’ll make you salivate every time you think about this resto
• comes with small sides like corn & edamame unlike the typical Korean resto wherein they have Kimchi & other side dishes
• for dessert, I chose Lychee ice cream, its light & flavourful
• great service, they top up your tea without you even asking
• they also have points system, if you often, you’ll get free food according to their promo

The most delicious Yakiniku in Richmond. I'm really glad I don't have to go all the way downtown anymore since this one opened. It's just as good and always a good delicious experience.
Gyu-Kaku is an experience. You pay for the meat and you cook it yourself. What a great business model ;) . This salad was SOOOO good. Dinner for 2 combo can be around $80 depending on how fancy you get. The food is excellent though, starting with the appetizer to the meat and ending with ice cream. It's a great meal but it can get pricey for what it is.
Good food with a reasonable price of $14.99 which comes with 3 choices of meat, miso soup and a bowl of rice for a lunch special. And most of all, good service.
The service was superb! The servers and hosts were very helpful, informed, and pleasant. I didn't try the barbecue. I had calamari, gyoza and cheese dumpling. All were a bit too dry. However, the miso soup and cabbage salad were excellent. The green tea ice cream was also delicious - mild and light. I would certainly go back, but I wouldn't order the gyoza and cheese dumplings again.
Great service all the way - seamless, professional, friendly, informative and patient. Timelines of food delivery was perfect. Lunch included tea. We happened to be there during happy hour and got the special prices. Atmosphere was vibrant and lively. Premises were pleasant and well kept.
I ordered the Spicy Tofu Chigae, Shio Cabbage, and ice cream dessert. I asked to keep the spiciness mild and it was perfect for me. The cabbage was very lightly steamed and sprinkled with sesame oil - just delicious. It was easy to share all items with everyone else at the table.
I loved the experience and would go there again for a good meal.

We visited Gyu-Kaku for a friend's birthday party, and we decided to buy one dinner set and a couple one offs, since it was Happy Hour. To list off everything we were eventually presented: Everything in the Kabuki set, two orders of Beef Tongue and an order of Lamb Sirloin. Surprisingly, the most anticipated meats for me (Filet Mignon and Spicy Pork) were just average. The Lamb Sirloin, Hanger Steak and Beef Tongue, however, were extremely tender and well prepared for us. Since you're cooking your own food, you get control of what temperature your meats are at, but you could tell by the color and smell that all of the raw meat was fresh. The deserts were good too. Maple Syrup ice cream, Taiyaki and S'mores are always nice as an after meal treat. My advice: Go on a Monday.
We had a big group, so it helped to ordered the large combination with happy hour special. The salad, karage, hot pot rice, hot pot yakiudon were very good. The various types of meat were well marinated and were excellent when grilled.
Always go to happy hour. Definitely worth it. Garlic prawns, duck breast, basil chicken, beef bimbimbap, tuna tataki, and chicken kaarage are my favourite. Download the app to receive points too!
Had the happy hour set. It was very filling for 4 girls even if it's set for 2 people. There's a variety of meat that are well marinated and a good portion of vegetables. It's really worth it to go at happy hour!
TL;DR Japanese bbq that hits the spot. Order the Mega mug each time!
Decent japanese bbq place! Ordering their set menus are definitely the way to go. Service is alright, mostly what you get from chain restaurants. The quality of the meat can get questionable at times (don't think their filet mignon was made for Japanese grill style) but overall it will hit the spot.

I am always on time. As George Michael would say, “I have an unfailing internal clock” (if you don’t get that reference then parts of this post are going to confuse you). Unfortunately, I have a few friends that are always late. And not by just a few minutes (they’d be terrible at the woodblock). Lapin en Cocotte is one of these people, and she gets a lot of flak for it from her friends. Having said that, she’s been working on getting better. Unfortunately, despite the fact that her time management skills are improving, her organizational skills seem to have flown out the window. Why do I say this? Because the past three times we were supposed to meet up for dinner, she apologetically messaged me the day of to say that she forgot she had a chiropractor appointment that night! Yeah, I know. It sounds like she just doesn’t want to see me. But I’m way too fun and modest for that to be the reason!
Gyu-Kaku is definitely one of my repeat places to visit. I love BBQ and this place is definitely one to visit if you do too. The meat quality is excellent and so is most of the dishes as well. The one thing I wasn't too keen on was the volcano roll, the frying sometimes ends up too long making the rice crunchy. This place gets busy since the happy hour is almost all the time so reserve to get a spot.
went here on a weekend night, the place is packed, but the food is as usual, pretty good, but the price per portion wise hmmm still alittle bit more expensive, but nevertheless, this time since I was with a smaller crowd, i was able to try some new items :D, harumon and can't remember what's the other one, it's definitely something that's fatter than usual meat. taste really awesome as well,
definitely the server was attentive the food was great, but the price, is the only downfall for me, as i've a student budget, but other than that, everything as in the narinated meat is all good.
It was 2pm and we wanted all you can eat Korean BBQ. Most places close from 3-5pm for dinner prep. Our search for so open place eventually yielded “Gyu-Kaku”. They weren’t Korean BBQ and they weren’t all you can eat, but they had a really good Japanese BBQ and a great happy hour menu, which ended up being just as good and just as cost efficient. But I will get more into that later.
When I’m in the mood for some Asian barbeque in Vancouver, I head to Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. There you engage yourself in a Japanese Yakiniku dining experience where you grill bite-size meat and vegetables over a flaming charcoal grill. I follow Gyu-Kaku on social media and I was excited to see their new promo this week.
Service is friendly, and food comes quickly. Only concern is we had to wait for our waters to be refilled as they did not notice for a while. But other than that, it was great.
LOVE their happy hour Monday's and super happy hours between 2-5PM & 9-close. My favorite happy hour in Vancouver and the food is super tasty as well!!
I love this place! It's good place for friends to hangout. You get to cook your own food. They always have tons special promotions. The pork belly is very tasty! All the rice dishes are delicious!!! Costumer service is not bad as well.
I love this place. It's fun, social and super tasty. I had the lunch special and was amazed how much food came out for two people. It's not a quick lunch since you cook your own meat, however enjoyed the experience and would go back again. Worth a try for sure!
Excellent service ! I usually come here for their happy hour menu, but would also make casual dinner visits as well. In my opinion, I would say that the stone bowl rice items tend to downsize during the happy hour periods, but nonetheless, the quality of the food is great ! Still remains to be one of my yakiniku go to places.

Premium Sirloin The Premium Sirloin is my choice BBQ because of its ease of grilling and the juicy marinade. It only takes a minute or less to cook and unlike some of the other meats, doesn’t dirty up your grill or unnecessarily fuel up your fire. Out comes a juicy wedge of beef that goes well with any sauce. Garlic Noodles The Garlic Noodles are a well-seasoned bowl of udon noodles. They come in a sizzling stone bowl and pairs well with pretty much any of the BBQ meats . I found it to be the most interesting of the carby dishes because of its chewy noodles. Tofu Nuggets
Very Good Service, Good Food. I went here during the special Dine Out menu for dinner with three other people. We had a reservation and was immediately seated. The waitress asked if it was our first time and it was indeed, so she took her time to explain the menu and recommendations. She was very nice, polite, and attentive to filling our teas/waters. The waitresses were always ready to change the plate on our BBQ pit. Keep in mind this was during a peak hour. The entire place was packed and we were not neglected at any time.
All the BBQ meat we got was tender, flavourful, and juicy. Definitely the best BBQ I have had in the area. There were no limp pieces or fatty pieces. Each plate we got was full on marinated meat. The alcoholic beverages were good, and the washrooms were very clean. I would definitely return for the food.
Awesome services. Went there for dinner last night. 2 of us had 12 dishes... everything so small...like their tasty bacon wrapped scallops, filet migeon and spicy pork.
Better than DT. I've always craved for this restaurant after the first time I had it in Hawaii and 2nd time in NYC. When the DT location opened I couldn't help be feel that they're not up to par. Food and service were usually mediocre there. Luckily the Broadway location saved the reputation of this restaurant.
It was our first time at Gyu-Kaku, a Japanese meat barbecuing establishment. Gyu-Kaku has many different locations in the US but only two in Canada, both of which are in Vancouver. Sara and I had a Groupon voucher for Guu-Kaku – $17 for $30 Worth of Japanese Barbecue at Gyu-Kaku Broadway . Sadly, the voucher is gone now but when it comes back, we suggest you go during Happy Hour to maximize your savings!
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ on Broadway is their second location in Vancouver. The other location is in Downtown. They offer their Happy Hour special on these days and times: Monday All Day Lunch: Everyday 11:30AM–6PM Dinner: Sun–Thu 9PM–10:30PM Fri & Sat 9:30PM–11:30PM The girls and I came here at 9:30pm on a Friday to indulge in this menu. We made reservations ahead of time to make sure we got seats. They have booths large enough for big groups but not too large. Iced Green Tea ($3) is the one drink I always get here. It’s not sweetened but it’s still good. The drink is also bottomless, so you can keep on getting refills. Mug of Sapporo ($3) is on their “Super Happy Hour” menu. You definitely need beer to go with BBQ meats. Shio Cabbage ($2) is very addictive. It has a distinctive sesame dressing.
Our meal cost around $100 before tax (liquor not included here); it was cheaper than the preset menus, we were quite full, and we got to choose exactly what we want, so I thought it’s might be just as good to order off the menu yourselves. You just have to overlook the fact that you can’t stay there for long. Time yourselves wisely and accordingly.
