Review De Dutch - Vancouver

Excellent customer service. Each person we interacted with was very friendly and helpful. We had a few questions about the menu and appreciated the assistance. The food was fresh and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We highly recommend this for a breakfast restaurant and will be back again.

Fabulous location. You're definitely paying for the gorgeous view. The breakfast bowl was hearty and well presented, but too much potato as filler. Adding some veggies/greens to the bowl would have made it better. Service was good. Restaurant was quiet when we arrived after 11a.m. on a weekday; therefore no problem with social distancing in the restaurant. Pricy for what you get, but again, the beautiful location is what you're paying for.

Stumbled upon this place while wandering around. Really cool menu. Lots of neat things I've never heard of. The food was excellent. I had some wild pacific salmon in my breakfast because hey when in Vancouver why not? The food was amazing thank you so much. The staff was a little hard to get their attention. Maybe they are a little short staffed.

So good! Wish we could have stayed all day and tried everything on the menu. Amazing pancake options, good sized portions, and awesome staff. Plus a great location in Coal Harbour - love that view!

Everything was great. Service was superb. Loved my Meat Lover Pannekoek. My wife loved the Dutch Benedict - DeBakon & Avocado. Excellent stuff. If there were any minor shortfall... It would be the portion was slightly bigger than we usually eat and also a little saltier than our usual taste. Both is not the fault of the establishment, it is just a minor preferential difference. Overall PERFECT!

awesome place for breakfast with dutch flavours. We left stuffed and happy after eating here. Service also was excellent! Items tried: - Mediterranean omelette: Delicious with the right amount for breakfast. - Savory pancake with onion and green peppers. Tasted a bit like the indian uttapam but had amazing taste. Highly recommend this dish - Strawberry milkshake: To say it was delicious would be an understatement. One of the best milkshakes I have ever very had. Overall a great place for breakfast in the downtown vancouver area.

I don’t think this place needs an introduction as it’s the go to brunch place if you are in Canada Place. It’s a busy place and there is always a line if you go between 10am - 12pm. Maybe booking in advance would be a better plan as we were unable to get a table outside which is the best view to have while you eat. They have a great menu and you will never run out of options on choosing something. I chose to eat the dutch pancake as that is their signature dish. It comes with sweet or savoury options. I had a sweet one. They also have great drinks menu. You can order hot and cold drinks. The food is great and they give good portions! The staff is nice though I feel they could better manage the people if they gave a better idea of how much one has to wait. We were told 40 minutes and ended up waiting for more than an hour. I still give them five rating as the food was worth the wait and the service was really nice.

Not sure why this restaurant isn't rated higher. We had a good experience. We were seated quickly. Every item we ordered - classic pancake, ham benedict, french toast - was delicious. The pancake was especially yummy.

DELICIOUS. Honestly, one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. Got a salmon egg Benedict that was honestly out of this world. Also, service was great. The only thing was the food was a tad bit hastily made, and it could be tasted. But still, so good I recommend.

Probably the disappointment of our trip to Vancouver. First off, we were there at 10AM for breakfast and the food was pretty good and on par with our experience with the Edmonton location. That said, the service was very poor.

To be specific, we were sat quickly by the host and ordered coffee and breakfast. It took quite a while for the coffee to come and then it was near impossible to get a refill.

Once our meals came out and our coffee was long since gone, we asked the server for some more coffee. She said no problem and promptly went and served many other tables right from us asking her (funny now, but not when you want another cup).

At the same time, there was a host/busser going around with coffee, but he quickly did the perimeter and of the restaurant with really filling anyone's cup.

At the end of our meal with our dirty dishes in front of us our server asked if we were done. We said yes and asked for our bill. She left our table with the dishes on them to go find our bill/machine.

Overall, just seemed like a significant lack of training/common sense (throughout our meal our server kept walking around the restaurant, but not doing anything or speaking to anyone, when they easily could have helped others, almost like they were trying to look busy...or she could have brought us coffee..lol)

This restaurant has a lovely location directly on the harbour. It was a pleasure sitting on the patio with my dogs tethered directly outside the patio glass wall from me. There was enough space between the patio wall and the cyclist path for the two of them.
I tried the Pannekoek for the first time and found it quite pleasing even though I'm not even a huge breakfast person fan. It is huge so I recommend sharing it. I ordered a side of debacon but I didn't find anything too special with it.
They also serve beer on the patio which is great on a hot day!
Worth a quick stop for a bite to eat or a refreshing break!

Looking for an early breakfast by the waterfront, our solution for a nice sit down was “De Dutch”. And having been to a few of their other chain locations, this was most notably the nicest one I have been too. The restaurant certainly dressed itself up for the area and the view before it. A view you were able to and forced to take in, as you walked to the restaurant. It was view of the water, the mountains, the city in front of it, and seaplanes taking off from and landing on the water. All this visible from the patio and through the all glass windows of the restaurant’s exterior. You could hear the latter and even appreciate the sounds and sights of a helicopter as they flew over head. This feature made this restaurant pretty unique.

July 21, 2019: (3/5) The egg in the egg benedict was overdone so it didn't have the flowy yolk. No stood-outs but still a decent meal. The service was superb - we had limited time and the waiter was very prompt in telling the kitchen to get our orders in and handling the payment process.

Apr 15, 2016: (4/5) Great inexpensive breakfast choice if you're staying in one of the waterfront hotels and don't want to pay $35 for a buffet breakfast. The portions are large and great quality. I tried a pannekoek, its a thin pancake with a bowl of savory filling. The toast and fruit bowl are very average, but the egg benedicts were great.

An overly full Nero Waffle Bar next door drove us to De Dutch one fine Saturday morning. At 9.45 AM, it was pretty empty, but within 20 minutes, it was suddenly transformed - people waiting at the door, servers running around and long-ish waits.

We were a group of 8, and we'd thankfully come in when there was still space to fit all of us comfortably. I ordered a sausage breakfast platter (no photo) to share with a friend, although I should have stuck to pannekoek I guess, because the sausage was 6 slices of some kind of meat and the rest was pretty basic. Didn't look anything like sausage, so disappointing. My friends who ordered the pancakes got huge tempting plates full of deliciousness (Their pancakes are as big as a medium-sized pizza)!

Place and service is overall good, and is priced decently as well. The interiors look very playful and colorful, with cool overhead lamps and clocks showing Vancouver and Amsterdam time (cute)! If you're in a rush, it may not be a great choice; they only had 2 servers to serve the big area, and they were SO busy! But for lazy weekend brunches - excellent!

Great breakfast for a chain. Pulled pork, bratwurst, and bacon all on a pancake? What can be better! Fun environment, grabbing a table on the harbor over looking Stanley Park was a great experience. Good change of pace compared to the daily Jersey pork roll I'm used to eating for breakfast.

Yummy. I really like this chain. The hash is pretty good although I'm never really disappointed there. Love their sweet menu items too ! 🍓🍓🍓

De Dutch at the Vancouver Convention Centre offers breakfast and lunch food with magnificent views of the harbour. You might even see the seaplanes landing. Every time I visit, the dining experience is quiet and almost serene. It is a place for comfort eats while enjoying the beautiful scenery. I have dined there on several occasions and this post reflects my experiences from those visits. I dined at De Dutch during the winter, but I could see that the patio would be great during sunny and warm days. The inside dining space is clean and bright; it has a mainly orange color scheme with yellow and brown accents. De Dutch Pannekoeken The De Dutch pannekoek (or simply *pancake*) is the signature menu item. With a circumference of 37” and a diameter of 12,” it is essentially one extremely large crepe. Offered in both sweet and savoury varieties, the pannekoek recipe is *top secret* since De Dutch first opened in 1975. In general, I find that the food quality at De Dutch is good. It is in line with what you would expect from a franchise restaurant chain. However, I feel that the the crepes can be a bit greasy and dense at times. One savoury pannekoek I tried was the Abby Perogie. It has hash browns, with debakon and onion inside, then topped with cheddar and sour cream. Are you a meat lover The meat lovers pannekoek has debakon, ham, sausage, turkey bacon and edam, with tomato garnish. For something sweet, there is the peach melba and whip cream. I found that the mixed fresh fruit and whip cream is a conservative and delicious choice. During the fall, I also tried their pumpkin spice latte. It was standard in my opinion. My husband ordered the dutch omelettes during two visits. They are served with toast, hashbrowns and with a bowl of salad or fruit. The meat lovers has debakon, ham, sausage, turkey bacon and cheese. The smoked wild BC salmon dutch omelette was standard as well. A holiday offering that I indulged in was the peach cobbler French toast topped

...De Dutch Pannekoek House at the downtown Convention Centre in Vancouver BC Canada for some delicious sweet and savory Dutch pancakes. Delicious!

Really great spot for breakfast! Although it was a bit pricy, service was fast, the food was great and the view was amazing! I had the eggs benny and it was just delicious! Will definitely go again.

Surprisingly good. I will admit my own prejudice towards De Dutch having never been there until recently. Found myself at Canada place craving breakfast but with only De Dutch around. Always considered it close to a Denny's but the layout and menu suggests otherwise. Had the Canuck special(I believe) which was eggs, french toast and Canadian bacon. It was fantastic and the service was good. The coffee in my opinion needs to go as I found it cheaply bitter.

Will go again.

It's Good. The De Dutch franchise is good but it sells itself short because it closes too early in the afternoon. Perhaps there is a good reason for it but people eat waffles and pancakes anytime. It is a different ambience but the food is good and well worth it but costly.

Large plates of food. Little pricey. Plate names are different but the food is not. Worth going to experience. El Paso TX

Great food and great view. We are on holiday to Vancouver, and thought we'd try out De Dutch as it had great views. The breakfast menu is varied. On my first visit I had scrambled eggs with cheese. The service was quick and the waitresses were smiling and chatty. The eggs were great and came with potatoes, I had the fruit instead of the salad. The fruit was fresh and very tasty. We came back the next day, and I tried the Power Breakfast, which consisted of Bananas, granola and yogurt with a sprinkle of dried cranberries, with a side of sourdough toast. Couldn't fault it!
It may be a little more than you would expect to pay, but I guess you are paying for the location!

De Dutch was De-sgusting. Not only did it take 3 different servers to get some cream for our coffees but the food was mediocre at best. No view of the water makes bad food taste good. Don't waste your time or money on this restaurant's substandard food or service.

Below average. Slow service and less than average food.

...really good hash mix, but I think the pannekoek was better on its own w the maple syrup...

A few weeks ago, I was invited to the Grand Opening of De Dutch at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The evening promised to be lots of fun, with lots of appies, a fireboat demonstration and desserts too. As you can see from above, the evening was full of entertainment, celebrations and lots of food! There were a few speeches from local VIPs, but they kept them short, fun and festive. Once the speeches were done, we went back inside to check out the food samples being passed around. This was the beverage that was served to us for the toast, but unfortunately, I never got the proper name of it. It was creamy, and reminded me of egg nog, but I'm sure it's something more complex than that. If you know what this might be, please leave me a comment below! But before we got to sampling the food, the Fireboats put on a great show for us. The view from De Dutch is amazing and their patio is perfect for a great brunch. Mentally making a note to self to bring friends visiting Vancouver f
