Our meal was delicious and the service was prompt and courteous despite being a busy Saturday. I had the crispy chicken sandwich and my girlfriend had the fish and chips. The burger was well spiced and had some tasty complementary flavours, and the fish and chips were just as good! I didn't notice seal anywhere on the menu and I couldn't give a shite if they did serve it. If you're on Granville Island give this place a shot!

Amazingly good food! Definitely recommend the Albacore Tuna Tostada ( maybe 3or 4!) & the Goat Cheese fennel risotto to die for!

Came in for brunch and got the perfect seat with great view. The service was good and the food was great and very reasonable. We really loved the food. I had Wagyu Beef Steak and eggs and my hubby got the Salmon Po’ Boy. The meat was very tender and delicious. Perfectly cooked. We really enjoyed eating here and will do again come back for sure

Visiting Vancouver for the first time and this place was great. I was wondering why the ratings were low so I took the time read the reviews and found this all very interesting. Not that I would knowingly have eaten baby seal, but if it was served in the food I ordered it sure was delicious....lol. Short story....great food and friendly service.

Nothing but good experiences every time I've been here from the service to the food. Always a pleasure to dine here. The changing menu is always exciting but also bittersweet when a dish that was loved is not there when I return. Nonetheless, one of the most unique restaurants in Vancouver with lots to offer.

First time eating at the EC was excellent. Staff was friendly, food was great (Halibut cheeks, and Duck Poutine) will defiantly come back again. (Down side, they were so busy the market shop was unmanned for several minuets.)

Nice place for a warm summer lunch with beer. Totally loved the local beer flavour and food. Not a lot of options to choose from, for food but the available menu makes good food-drink combination.
Loved the ambience and service for great too!!

Fraser Valley Specialty Poultry (FSVP) invited me to dinner at Edible Canada to find out what happens when poultry meets wine!. FSVP coordinated this event at Edible Canada with Ripples Winery to share a 4 course meal, designed by Edible Canada’s own Director of Culinary, Tobias Grignon, and wine pairings chosen by Sommelier at Home’s, Ashley West.  Chef Tobias put on a great demo before the meal started, and taught us the best way to make a quick and delicious chicken (250°C for about 20 to 25 minutes in the toaster oven!):

A visit to Granville Island is a must when visiting Vancouver, but where to eat when we get there?

A simple google search of the best food to eat in Granville Island reveal Edible Canada, which is also kids friendly! Double win!!

I didn’t like the look of the kids menu there so we forego that and got a side of grilled salmon and scrambled egg for kiddies. The grilled salmon was probably too salty and charred for the kids but I quite enjoyed it myself.

We ordered their crispy humboldt squid which was super tender and yummy! Even #hangrydumpling who didn’t like squid ate 3 pieces!

West Coast Clam Chowder: sorry San Fran, this clam chowder tastes better than yours! 😛

Our first poutine experience was at Edible Canada too ❤️🥔 it was yummy and it has bison meat in it!!!! 🇨🇦

Overall a very enjoyable meal and one of the best so far in Vancouver.

I popped in here after strolling around Granville Island Markets. Intended to stay for dinner but had to pop out earlier than expected so just ordered the beer flight (CA$8). Very generous servings for the price and beer was refreshing. I only rated it a 4 because I didn’t have any food so can’t comment on the culinary skill but service was efficient and friendly.

A cozy restaurant located on the iconic Granville Island, Edible Canada knows how to exemplify the best in Canadian flavours. Their menu explores some things I hadn't heard of before. Bannock, seal, berries specific to our country- this place has it all. Even indigenous wines! The servers are all lovely. Been here twice for Dine Out Festival and a great experience both times.

Had been to this place recently. Preferred to sit out as i am not used to very strong meat smell (especially sea food). The seating was great. Service was a bit slow BUT could be because of too much rush. I tried their chicken sandwich which was very good and juicy.

I've only eaten here a couple times but I wanted to write a review after reading a few reviews about how inhumane it is that they serve seal meat on their menu. Im vegetarian it kind of drives me insane that people are getting mad about it... You wouldn't think twice able eating a chicken or a cow. Its the same fricken thing. If you don't support it, then don't order it... Anyways, came here for diner as the public market closed and this was the first restaraunt we came across and I was starving. Quickly looked at the menu and saw they had a couple vegetarian options. We were seated quickly on the patio and service was great. Fast, friendly and polite which is all I ask for. I ordered the falafel plate which consisted of falafel, roast veggies, hummus and yogurt. Food was pretty good! Loved that it was a protein packed vegetarian meal which is hard to come across. Usually vegetarian meals at restaraunts are just filled with carbs. I also remember coming here a couple years back and trying their duck poutine back when I was an omnivore and thinking it was the best poutine ever.

Overall, pretty good experience. I would definitely recommend checking this place out if your on Granville Island.

Onto our third Dine Out this year, Adorables wasn't able to join us unfortunately, but I had the wonderful company of HungryPanda and friends! Edible Canada offered a $30 3-course menu with optional $8 amuse bouche and $18 BC wine pairing. Since we couldn't be seated right away at the time I had booked, we took a seat outside with warmers and blankets to look at the menu and possibly order some drinks.

The food was AMAZING. We had the seal loin and the fish and chips and they were both outstanding. I was really excited to finally get an opportunity to try seal and it was delicious. Well done to this restaurant for truly offering a selection of REAL Canadian cuisine. Service was very good, we were very satisfied with the waiting staff, the venue, the toilets, etc... Don't forget you get 10% off at the shop with your restaurant receipt, they have delicious Indian candy.

Dineout 2017: more so a $40 menu with all the add ons, but really enjoyed the seal pappardelle, bison tartare, and lamb heart.
Bison Tartare (pic): really fresh start to the meal, as a tartare should be, with Japanese mustard and super buttery, non gamey bison meat.
Lamb Heart: this was very lightly seared, almost rare which I loved as it made it very tender instead of chewy as hearts can be. This was heavier in flavour with the adobo but great if you like lamb flavour.
Rabbit orrechiette: highlights were the porcini and mushrooms and the few pieces of Rabbit I got. Didn't love the heavy brussels sprout flavour or the super chewy pasta.
Seal pappardelle: of the few bites I had, loved the great guanciale sauce and the way the fat soaks up the flavour. The meat itself is reminiscent of liver - breaks easily and very iron-y. Didn't get to try the pasta but partner said it was chewy though he liked it.
Sticky Toffee Pudding (pic): quite good, not too sweet, went really nicely with the maple custard.
Pot du Creme: reading reviews we ate the sour cassis before diving into the chocolate, which was divine. Very deep chocolate flavour and smooth ganache texture, definitely not too sweet.

Last week, I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview of the Dine Out Vancouver 2017 menu at Edible Canada. I have never been to this restaurant before but have heard good things from friends so I was super excited! This year, their dinner menu is priced at $30 which is quite reasonable considering their offering of eclectic ingredients like seal, rabbit, and lamb heart. I for one am all about trying new things so I instantly took a liking to their menu when I saw all these cool ingredients.

I was invited to do a walking tour of Granville Island and visit some of the participating restaurants in Dine Out Vancouver 2017. This was one of the four stops we made on the tour. Seated on their long communal table, among a small of group of we shared the dinner menu that they have prepared for Dine Out. Edible Canada prides itself on serving locally sourced ingredients only in Canadian cuisine. It doesn’t get anymore Canadian withe rabbit and seal on their menu!

Edible Canada is participating again in Dine Out Vancouver from January 20 to February 5, 2017. They are offering guests with their 3 course meal on Granville Island for Canadian Cuisine for $30. Reservations should be made in advance. I came here for a sneak peek of the full Dine Out menu to show potential guests what the menu would look and taste like. You’ll notice on their menus, there are a few menu items that you need to add extra money to the meal.

Edible Canada is a great restaurant in Granville Island. I love the wooden tables which gives a homely feeling. The restaurant is a large open area with a semi-private room in the style of a garage- with a garage door to complete the look! The kitchen is long, bar-style. I came here today for dinner.

The lady who served us was outgoing and sociable, typical Canadian hospitality! The restaurant is spacey and comfortable, with vibrant hues around the restaurant, with a slight old-style decoration.  Their food is 'new Canadian cuisine' and that is basically international dishes with a Canadian twist. All ingredients are local and fresh.

First came the drinks. My ginger ale was all natural and not too sweet- more guilt-free than Canada Dry. The ale's ginger even was fresh! The apple spiced iced tea was a little on the bland side, with the exception of warm cinnamon and cardamom hints.

Then the food came. The fries were crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside, sprinkled with just enough sea salt- that's my perfect fry, and this batch of fries delivered. The main course I ordered was the octopus orecchiette. The orecchiette was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was not overly heavy. The rapini added an umami flavor and the chiles added a nice little heat kick to the pasta dish. Once some fiery seeds are removed, the pasta has a delicious heat. The octopus was soft and chewy, and nearly creamy. I found the Italian sausage did not particularly work well with the octopus- to me, meat and seafood does not go on the same pasta dish.

The portions are really big so if you don't feel like a big dish bring along a lucky person to share whatever dish you order. Because of the large portions, I couldn't fit in dessert- but next time I come to Edible Canada, I will definitely try their desserts and maybe brunch or lunch. The food is rather expensive ($27 for pasta) but pricey food is typical of restaurants around tourist attractions.

Edible is located in granville island, making it a great little date location. I came here for dine out vancouver as its menu was pretty unique, it consisted of a lot of unique flavours and wild meats. I chose the dish with the most gamy meats, mostly bison, heart, elk, etc. The whole experience was great, it was a wonderful way to dry new items and I learned that heart isn't as frightening as it may seem. The dessert and appetizers were probably my favourite though, we had a lemon based dessert and it was possibly the lightest and perfect 'melt in your mouth' consistency I've ever had. On top of all this, the service was phenomenal and our waiter helped us choose and provided great detail of each dish. I would definitely come back!

It was my first time at Edible Canada and they had just launched their Spring 2016 menu. We started with the Yukon Arctic Char Gravlax and the Atlantic Scallop Crudo. The citrus notes from the lemon crema on the Gravlax balanced the brininess of the fish roe. The Crudo was garnished with crispy onions, julienne apples, and Thai curry, which collectively complemented the tender scallops. For my main, I had the Seafood Salad with grilled avocado. The smoked sturgeon was excellent - tender and not over-salted. As opposed to raw greens, the vegetables were grilled and slightly charred. The oozing yolk of the soft-boiled egg and the spiced sunflower seeds added a lot of texture and flavour. I was quite impressed with how much I enjoyed this salad. My dining companion had the Cod Fish & Chips which, unfortunately, she didn't enjoy. The batter was hard and chewy, which was surprising as I'd expect better fish & chips from a restaurant on Granville Island.

Service was good but slow considering that there were only a few tables filled. Overall, it was a good experience and I'll definitely return to try their raved-about brunch options.

Went for dine out and enjoyed myself. I didn't order the cheese croquette but I had a bite and died. It's something I highly recommend to get, but other than that the salmon I ordered wasn't that special. I also recommend the yoghurt pot dessert, it's something that will definitely make you smile. I also enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant, it really is a magical place to spend time with friends or with that special someone ;)

Overall, I found Edible Canada’s Dine Out menu very intriguing. The choice of ingredients is quite unique and it stands out from most other participating restaurants. That being said, there’s some hit and miss in the execution of the dishes. While we did enjoy the dinner, it didn’t “wow” Bryan and Kathryn on their first visit to the restaurant.

Love the concept and ingredients behind the menu at Edible, but my first experience definitely wasn't a memorable one.

With out mind set on a light brunch, my friend and I came across Edible after strolling through Granville Island. It was a weekday afternoon so the place wasn't too busy, but you could tell that the place was understaffed. We were seated near the glass divider, but turns out it was pretty much a blind spot as a pillar with block us from the view of the expo.

We decided on the Hazelmere Hash and Quebec Duck Poutine. A big no-no as we were looking to eat a lighter meal, but forgot that both dishes were very starchy and rich in flavour. The hash was definitely the winner out of the two as we were big fans of the veggies and wild boar bacon that was roasted with the crispy potatoes. As for the poutine, the duck confit and gravy just didn't have as big of a wow-factor. Instead, it tasted slightly bland and not as thick as traditional gravy. I did love the two sunny-side eggs that came on top of the poutine. I'm definitely a sucker for runny yolk!

I would probably come back sometime to give their dinner menu a shot!

Easily one of the best known dishes at Edible Canada, the duck poutine arrived in a cast iron skillet. The fries themselves were perfect and I really enjoyed letting those egg yolks run all over them. That said, I wished there was more gravy and more cheese. The cheese curds could have certainly been more curd-like too; they were too melty.

It's official! I had the greatest salad of my life at this restaurant. The Kale salad with Salmon was sheer perfection. Perfectly dressed, simple yet packed with flavour (various pickles veggies and toasted wild rice added incredible texture). The salmon was cooked as if it was an entrée on it's own. The service was attentive, friendly, but not over bearing. Food came at perfect speed and the atmosphere in this restaurant is great. Only mild downside is its noisy a bit, but very impressed. My guest had the Angus burger which he was raving about as well. I'll be back for that!

So after indulging in some donuts from Lee's the other day, my dad and I walked around Granville Island in search for more food hehe. That's right.  The search for food never ends ;).   Well to be specific...we wanted ice cream, since it was practically 30 degrees outside (okay not really, but it sure felt like it!) My handy dandy yelp app directed us towards Edible Canada at the Market - which stocks Earnest!! Edible Canada is actually a restaurant, but they have a little window on the outside of their storefront that operates like a food truck!! We actually waited pretty long for our icecream (around 8 mins) but I guess it's because they were busy!

Cool place. Stumbled upon it recently and happy we did! Despite the rather odd name for a restaurant, this place is a really pleasant place to eat. Lots of windows that were all open while I was there on a sunny day which created a fantastic atmosphere. Design is modern with lots of glass, wood, and white combined. Food tastes pretty good. Only downside was that I found a hair in my pancakes. The craziest thing about Edible Canada is the washroom. Its not separated by men's and women's.. It's all one, which makes things a little awkward standing at the sinks but honestly it's kind of a cool experience. I'll be going back to this restaurant for sure and I'd recommend it (especially on a sunny day)

This place is AWESOME. I'm going to keep it short and sweet. We walked in, 30 minutes to eat before a play. Sat at the bar, Neil started the instant catering, Zach took care of us, Hayley completed the job. Let me be more specific: Neil and Zach made sure we ordered what wouldn't keep us from our appt. we got excellent food recommendations and the speed that the food came out was ludicrous ... Literally within 10 minutes of sitting down we had all our drinks and food on the table! Zach the bartender kept us satiated, and had excellent recommendations. We enjoyed our dinner so much we came after the play for dessert... Even though it was "closed" by a short time, our serving staff allowed us to sit and offered us 3 things from the dessert menu and a last call from the bar! Thanks to these 3 folks, we had a random chance amazing night and I highly recommend rhis bar. Another impressive feature is the fact that this place serves all local food and drink, supporting proudly the Canadian economy and local produce! I highly recommend the Schwarzenegger sized (local) mussels appy, and the baileys" whiskey shooter as a finishing touch with dessert. Devon Devine kept us entertained at the fine della notte and offered us to sample experimental dessert version of their delicious butter tart! Mmmm. PS- the Brut is a great replacement for prosecco drinkers/champagne ... I'm definitely coming back.

Dineout 2015. I went here on a double date and was a bit nervous after reading about all the bad reviews before arrival. I had read good things previously on another website. It seems edible has listened to their customers because we had a great experience. Servers were on spot and food came out quickly. The cream of mushroom was okay on the bland side. The prawn salad was delicious and had a good mix of flavours. The yak stew with the bone marrow butter was melt in the mouth goodness. We enjoyed the bison steak, it was cooked just right and very tender! The least favourite was the Arctic char, the flavours were good but the texture of the beans was a bit off putting. For dessert we very much preferred the apple tart over the bread pudding. Be sure to check out their convenience store, full of local goods (earnest ice cream, beta5, mink, and much more)!

Delicious, reasonable food. I tried Edible Canada at the Market on a wonderful Sunday morning, which was actually Mothers Day! It was busy! but service was great, food came efficiently! I had the crab cake benny with a Kale salad instead of the seasonal greens... LOVED the Kale Salad and the crab cakes were amazing! Crab Cakes came with a delicious perfectly cookies poached egg and hollandaise sauce (take not there was no bread, but that didn't matter it was still so AMAZING) My mom had the wild mushroom benny with hash browns instead of the salad, she loved it as well. Tried hers the hash browns were so yummy as well as the wild mushroom eggs benny! I thought the prices were VERY reasonable and loved the atmosphere will for sure be back!

Not that special. We came here with a few friends for dineout at 7pm and we were sitting for 15 minutes before our waitress introduced herself and offered to get us some water. Ok I get that it's a busy time so things get missed... not too upset about that.

I had the venison carpaccio for an extra $4, the steelhead and the bacon ice cream sundae for an extra $2. Out of the bunch the carpaccio was the best. Steelhead came with a bed of kale and potatoes with bacon bits and this dish was very salty. The sundae tasted interesting at first but as the cream melted it started not mixing so well together.

My friend had the butternut squash ravioli and she said after finishing the dish it left a weird aftertaste and caused her to feel like there was a lot of salt in her dish as well.

It was ok but I'm glad I didn't come for the regular menu.

Go local. Dine out Vancouver can sometimes bring the best or the worst out in a restaurant and as far as my experience with edible canada, it was the best! I had no idea that we had a restaurant so close to home that offered such a large variety of local products. I felt extremely proud knowing that my money was going straight back into my own community. They have a great map hanging above the kitchen with all the different local supplies they carry their foods from around the lower mainland and on top of that we were unable to stump our server with any of the questions we had regarding to local products and the roles they play on the menu. I ordered the Duck Rillette and my wife had the Venison Carpaccio and both were spectacular. The flavours were complimented nicely with a bottle of the Blue Mountain Pinot Noir they carry which came highly recommended and did not let us down. For our mains I had the Fillet Mignon and my wife had the Steelhead and again we were taken back by the amount of flavour and gorgeous presentation. The Fillet Mignon was an additional $20 which was a steal, it was cooked perfectly and the bone marrow butter has raised my standards for my next steak dinner out. The Steelhead was cooked Medium and accompanied by a warm salad of kale, potato, carrot and bacon. The food portions were great and the deserts were all very interesting. We had the Bacon Sundae and Chilli Chocolate Pudding, I would go back for either. All in all our experience was wonderful food wise and the staff developed such a warm and interesting atmosphere that it wasn't just going for dinner, it was having a dinning experience. Hats off to the kitchen and staff and a special thanks to our server Charlie as well as Jess and Josh for making the night so educational and exciting.

Loved it!! Especially since sometimes dine out is a rough time to check out a new restaurant. We went on a Thursday had great service, perfect BC wine recommendation and a wonderful meal. I had the venison carpaccio, the trout and the Chilli pudding. Chilli pudding was an interesting take on my memory of Jello- pudding and I liked it a lot. They even brought us a little splash of Port at the end of our meal. I would go again and recommend it as a great casual spot for dinner.

It's too bad more restaurants can't be like this one!. I consider myself a foodie. I spent many years working in the industry. I'm well travelled. I have a garden. My first time at Edible Canada was by chance. I finished buying groceries at the market and noticed the old woodwork shop across the street was gone. There were lovely gardens and a cool patio where there once was wood chips and sawdust. Now, I'm one for local food. The while farm to table thing is important to me both philosophically and ethically. These guys pull it off to a tee. I had the mushroom fricasse which the owner if the restaurant had foraged himself! My partner is gluten intolerant which makes it hard for us to dine normally. Until we came here! There are so many GF options it blew her mind! The layout of the room is hip yet unpretentious. The staff are cool, worldly and knowledgable yet provide an upscale service. Kudos to you Edible Canada! You have found a devotee in me. I will be back again and again and again... You get the idea!

Lovely Atmosphere, OK Food. We sat outside for lunch on a warm sunny day. A leafy tree sat in the middle of the outdoors dining area, and there was live music from a local entertainer a few steps away from the restaurant. Service from our waitress was good and attentive. We had the mushroom benny eggs and the duck poutine. I really wish the fries could be crispier, but they got extremely soggy and limp under all the gravy and cheese. The salad that came with the benny eggs were plain boring, but at least the rest of the dish was delicious. There's a shop at the back of the restaurant where you could browse around after your meal. The washroom stalls were unisex which was strange. Although we had a pleasant visit, I wish they had a bigger selection for the food, and I'm not sure if I will return anytime soon.

Sous-vide does the trick. The steak is great mainly thanks to their use of the sous-vide cocking method. They allow BYOWine and although the $30 corkage is outrageous it is still better than selecting from the list if you bring a good bottle. The service was great and all of the food delicious.

For all the hype the offerings in this interesting restaurant are of the fairly predictable fish'n'chips variety. But very, very well done.

Delicious family-style lunch. Our staff held a retreat on Granville Is and were lucky enough to enjoy a culinary treat at Edible Canada for lunch one day. Chef Greg served up a wonderful family style lunch that somehow catered to vegetarians, vegans, gluten free folks, and non-restrictive diets all at once. Highlights included gluten free toasts topped with wild mushrooms, wilted greens and crusted poached eggs and a vegan, no bake cocoa tort adorned with toasted hazelnuts - out of this world. Thanks Edible Canada for the memorable experience.
