This place was featured on Guy Fieri's Diners,Drive-in and Dives and he's featured on the menu board outside what could go wrong,i asked what size was the Sichuan Hot & Sour Soup waitress reply was medium and i also ordered the Spicy Gingered Beef, when i soup arrived WTF!!! it was for a family of 4 and the beef dish was huge so i dug deep and fought and fought but at the very end i couldn't finish the meal. The soup was very fantastic but not too spicy and the beef dish i would highly recommend this location, please bring your appetite.
If you are yearning for some greasy chinese this is the place! Hit this place for a late lunch last week and ordered their house hits, didn’t disappoint. Would return.
Best Chinese I've had in over 10years. Very fresh tasting. Prompt delivery. The spicy pork and garlic was delicious. Complex flavours for each dish.
By accident, my boyfriend and I found Peaceful Restaurant on Seymour St, nearby Granville Skytrain station. The ambiance is large and nice. The servers were friendly and took order fast. We've ordered Sichuan Beef Soup Noodles and Seafood Stir-fried noodles. Both of them were large portions with cheaper prices. They were so tasty and fresh. Especially, Sichuan Beef Soup Noodles was awesome. Lots of beef in the soup. We enjoyed our lunch at Peaceful Restaurant.
I called and ordered takeout for lunch. A server picked up the phone and took my order quickly. He said the food would be ready in about 10mins. It was quick enough! Comparing to a Japanese restaurant in the same neighbourhood, they asked me to wait for 20 mins.
I ordered a bowl of beef noodles in soup. It was only $10.45 including tax. The price was reasonable. The portion was quite big. The beef was tendered and veggies were included as well. The noodles were the thick and chewy ones. I liked them. I would love to order other dishes and try something new next time.
I had been to this restaurant for dinner with friends in the past. I tried other types of noodles and xiao long bao. Everything tasted great. The restaurant had many people who dined in or ordered takeout.
This restaurant had been renovated the interior before. Now it is more comfortable. It was not high end, upscale or modern. But at least the interior design is more up-to-date.
Im not a big fan of this restaurant unlike other many people. They are definitely cleaner than other nearby Chinese restaurants. However staffs seem like they do not care if you are going to order food or asking for another bill to pay. It is their lack of energy that made me puzzled. Food was good and but not too
Came here at around 6 on a weekday and it wasn't busy at all. We were seated right away.
Ordered the stewed lamb soup noodle, beef roll, and the hot chili wontons. For the noodle soup, you can choose from hand pulled or blade sheared. We got the hand pulled. When this soup came, from the broth it looked like it wouldn't be very flavourful, but it actually was. I really liked this dish. There was plenty of noodles and the lamb was tender. I've had the beef roll a few times already and it was tasty as always. Crispy outside and tasty beef on the inside. One thing is that I always have a hard time eating it because the roll is quite large. The chili wontons were not too spicy and I liked how it came with some spinach.
Overall, yummy food at affordable prices. It's debit or cash only so make sure to have some cash on you. Definitely worth trying.
Peaceful Restaurant is a Northern Chinese cuisine near Broadway City Hall Skytrain Station. They have 5 locations total (this says a lot about their food!) The one we went to is their original location, also the highest rated location on Zomato 🙂 I was super excited to try because of their highly raved award-winning beef rolls and hand-dragged noodles.
•I love their soups, all of them! Spicy or regular its happy in my belly!
• great & ample serving of appies to share
• the noodles, totally different story, it is freshly made and you can tell on every bite that you have, its soft & chewy. Not gluten free friendly, sorry
• Cumin beef noodle is one of my fave, nicely seasoned... I always go for this
Their soup dumplings is something I get all the time I am here. Once I wasn't feeling well so I got their noodle soup and it was just perfect. (also good for a hang over) They hand pull their noodles and it tastes so fresh. Service is always good when I go. All around perfect place.
Have really good handcrafted noodles. My favorite has to be the dan dan noodles. Beef roll is also very good though the green onion was too big in size. The house rice is delicious. Their portion is very filling.
My fave Chinese restaurant !! I like spicy Dan dan noodles are awesome!! The dim sum is Soo good can't get enough of the pork and chive dumplings. They actually pop with flavour with every bite. The beef roll is legit and I can't wait to keep trying different things at this sweet spot.. I make the drive from Richmond at least twice a month and it's worth it every time!!
One of my favorite questions to ask someone on a first date is what food they would choose if they could only eat one food for the rest of their lives. The rule is that it has to be a food, but it can encompass multiple dishes. For example, a common answer is pizza, since you can get everything from regular to butter chicken to Pizza Treatza (thanks, Dairy Queen!). Another is sandwiches, since you could argue that those include anything between two pieces of bread. But I always choose noodles. Pasta, ramen, soba, udon, vermicelli….the options are endless, and cover a wide variety of cuisines. I literally don’t know what I would do if there was a world wide noodle shortage. Life probably wouldn’t be worth living.
I've been here probably 5 times in the last 2 months.
Pros
-Everything on their menu tastes good
-There's a wide selection of items, from noodles to vegetarian options to dim sum
-It's not overly expensive and the portion sizes are pretty big
Cons
-Service is slow and I had to ask 4 times for a glass of water before I was given one
-The food is a bit greasier than I'd prefer
My recommended dishes are:
-Peaceful House Noodles
-Szechuan Beef Soup Noodles
-Pan Fried Pork Buns
-Beef Roll
-Dan Dan Noodles
-Shanghai Soup Dumplings (Xiao Long Bao)
I heard alot of good experiences from friends and families, even strangers about peaceful restaurant. I've even heard it was on the food network channel as well. I thought I'd give it a try finally.
Upon entering we are greeted very quickly, and even though it was busy and full they acknowledged how long the wait will be. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long. Tables and chairs very clean and menus are impressive.
They do in house noodles, a northern chinese style. I love how these northern type chinese places have a see thru window so you can watch them make so many types of noodles. It's not as easy as it looks, it's alot of labor. On the menu my girlfriend and I ordered the cold appy to start, the chicken and clear noodle. Wow... That was very nice. Light, refreshing, not heavy, not salty. Then we ordered the Dan Dan noodles with spicy peanut sauce, your choice of thin or thick noodles. I prefer the thin but we chose the thick because my girlfriend likes the thick noodle. It's very rich I suggest sharing. It's delicious. Remember guys the sauce is underneath. Roll your noodles around and man... It looks amazing! Then we ordered the spicy and tangy dumplings, also made in-house. Whoa jelly nelly! It's got kick! The dumplings are juicy, the texture of the dumpling skin is lovely. The broth tangy and spicy. My first experience and its real nice. It also cleared up my allergies LOL!
Service is prompt on that night. Food delicious. Atmosphere very comforting. Would I come back again? YES! I saw the beef roll and I wanted to order that award winning dish, unfortunately I was too full... Above all prices very very reasonable. I would recommend this place for noodles no doubt. I can't wait to try the beef roll cause the booth next to us ordered it, and I heard a nice crunch from the lady who was eating it.
I absolutely love all the food that I've tried at Peaceful Restaurant. I'm always on the hunt for blade-sheared noodles because it's one of my favourites and theirs definitely does not disappoint. If you're into spice, definitely get one of their chili dishes because it has the perfect balance of kick and flavour. My biggest struggle is deciding whether to try new things here or to get the ones I enjoyed from the previous visit!
It seems that I didn't have much Chinese food while I was in Vancouver. So, I didn't to have some Shanghai food before I leave. Went to Peaceful Restaurant down on Broadway for some Shanghai food! Lots of yummy looking things to choose from!. I love menus with pictures!. I think this was the Dan Dan Noodle. Yummy!
When this place first opened it blew me away. I had the Sichuan soup noodles which is basically pressure cooked beef in a Chinese Master stock with spinach and chilis. I also had the beef rolls which were solid as well. I knew from how busy it was it was the hole in the wall you always wanted and you could see noodles constantly being made behind glass.
Since the DDD episode and expansion it's been a bit inconsistent but if you stick with some of the standby's you can't go wrong.
The Xin-Jia Chicken stew is still delicious as is the mu-shu. THe Sweet Soy glazed chicken is hit and miss but when it's a hit it's addictive. Any of the stir-fried noodles (hand-dragged (the blade-sheared tend to feel watery) are hard to beat, as is the Chinese Forest vegetables.
Give it a try and decide for yourself.
Headed to Peaceful Restaurant for lunch today and was pretty impressed. The place was packed when we arrived but we didn't have to wait more than a few minutes for a table to open up. Ordered the Xiao Long Bao to start (which arrived pretty quickly!). I had never had this before but I really liked the dumplings! I have nothing to compare them to so I don't know if they are of great quality but I'd probably order them again.
My friend had the Won Ton Soup which had the most amazing tasting broth. It was so flavourful, I could have drank it on its own. The wontons were good too but I prefer the shrimp/pork mix wontons as opposed to the all pork ones. I had the Dan Dan Noodles (which again, I've never ordered anywhere before) that had always peaked my interest when I saw it being ordered at Chong Qing. The hand-pulled noodles in this dish were UNREAL. I loved how chewy and tasty the noodles were - they certainly weren't just a vessel to get the sauce in your mouth. The sauce was spicy but not so spicy that you couldn't enjoy it. The peanut sauce was really flavourful and I enjoyed the richness that the minced pork added to the whole dish.
The service was pretty quick and very friendly. It was definitely cheap eats (less than $20 each) but it didn't taste like it. I guess anywhere that Guy Fieri gives his stamp of approval to, is worth checking out!
Peaceful Restaurant was not perfect, but certainly there is enough here to wholeheartedly recommend for traditional Northern Chinese cuisine. Its popularity and notoriety are deserved and while it can be easy to grumble about the long wait times, the food ultimately is worth it!
I love this place. Everyone in the family loves it. My sister and brother in law came in from Seattle and my moms came over from the island and this was the first stop of the day. We went with our favourite classics, the garlic string beans and the thousand chilli chicken, but also tried some new items. We tried the squid, and spicy and sour dumplings. We are now full. Thank you Peaceful! You never let us down!
Finding a warm spot
General Tso’s Chicken did
in American hearts
Overall, our meal at Peaceful was good with the exception of the General Tso’s Chicken. Despite the poor version at Peaceful, I now understand why Americans love the dish. The chicken with the reddish multi-flavoured sauce is a very good combo. I just don’t get the addition of broccoli though.
The more traditional dishes we ordered hit the spot. The Sichaun Mah-Po Tofu, Cumin Lamb Stirred Fried Noodles and Chilli Garlic Eggplant were prepared well and tasty.

This place is small so come early or be stuck waiting for a table outside. Very flavourful dishes, I can't wait to go back to try more! They also swapped noodles for rice noodles as a gluten-free option if that is your fancy.
I can't believe it took me this long to try Peaceful!! I go to Whole Foods (which is right across the street) every other week, so I really should've tried this place out sooner! So after some morning grocery shopping, I arrived bright and early at 11 am and I got a table without having to wait in line!! During my meal a huge crowd had already congregated outside!
Delicious noodles made in house. I highly recommend the ginger beef. Much easier going here with someone who knows how to order. Always super busy so be prepared to wait
Not that impressed..I only favoured their meat rolls just because it was featured on the food network. The place was really dirty when I was there and the rest of the food just tasters really greasy for me.
I'll say it's one of the better restaurant in vancouver in terms of taste, price, and quality. it's a hand pulled noodle shop, as i've an affinity for noodles, this place is definitely one of my favorite place. the noodle as you can expect is great, it's hand made literally, and hand pulled as you can see from the windows that the cooks are preparing the noodle, it's just very entertaining, and the noodle are very great as well. the taste, oh wow the stir fried one have a good punch of flavors in them, love it. and for the noodle soups, mild but flavourful enough as well. Overall their cooking in my every outing have never dissapointed me.
would totally recommend this place for noodles :DD
This is my first time at Peaceful, even though i grew up in Vancouver! Thankfully i got a table before the big lineup started. We ordered beef rolls, dan-dan noodles and szichuan green beans. I loved everything. They are famous for the beef rolls, which is thinly sliced beef rolled in a green onion flatbread or pancake with hoisin sauce in the rolls. Just a slight bit of sweetness and the pancakes were doughy yet crispy. The green beans were cooked perfectly with crispness and had some ground pork. The dan-dan noodles are also a specialty-they make the noodles in house. I like that the noodles aren't all perfectly shaped, so you know they aren't machine made. The sauce was peanut-y and salty and delicious. Our meal was $30 and more than enough for two people. Definitely a memorable meal for me.
I love peaceful. A great place for quick and delicious Chinese noodles. I recommend the blade sheared kind, but it's a personal preference so try hand dragged as well. The potato or beef rolls are a must try as they are a unique dish featuring a crunchy pastry. A good place to go with a group of friends so you can share and try a bunch of different dishes.
After going to Chinese restaurants that were just ok (not bad but not impressive either) and restaurants that were good but have been cutting their standards, it was soooo nice to go to Peaceful where you could actually taste the freshness and the quality of the food. It's a tiny place so the chance of a lineup is high. We arrived, 4 of us, and with a little table arranging we were able to be seated quite quickly. Hostess was excellent! Our waitress seemed a little uninterested and uncommunicative but since our kids both work in restaurants they took it as a challenge to kill her with kindness. Eye contact, smiles, plenty of thank yous and soon she was smiling and very helpful - result! The hand dragged noodles were so tasty. The spicy squid was exactly that and the beef rolls were everything they were said to be. The only disappointment was the cats ear soup. Just too bland. But all in all, a great meal and we'd love to come back.
Total Noodle Dominance.. Yes the service is blah. So what, I like a little indifference with my noodles it gives an authenticity to the whole experience and sets you up to enjoy the main event. NOODLES. Don’t come in here for all the other menu items! You can get that stuff anywhere. It is the noodles in broth that you should be ordering. $7.95 for a bowl as big as your head with tasty chunks of mysterious eastern beefy meat complete with hunks of well stewed fat still intact. It will give your hungry tummy inner peace and you taste buds what they deserve. You cannot eat better for cheaper. Go hand dragged all the way!
Every Day Is A Food Day

We started with the Peaceful Beef Rolls , which is beef marinated in five spice and rolled in a crispy green onion flat bread and filled with sweet hoisin sauce. These were some of the best I’ve had! The flat bread was super crispy and there was just the right amount of beef and hoisin sauce. Super crispy, but not overly oily. Next, we tried the Mu-Shu Stir-fried Noodles . For noodles, you can choose either knife-sliced or hand pulled. We went for knife-sliced, and they were super chewy, but I loved it. The noodles were served with pork, cabbage, woodear mushroom and egg. The noodles are definitely the star of the restaurant. Must try! Northern Pork Dumplings Lastly, we had the Northern Pork Dumplings , which were filled with pork, chives, cabbage, and green onions. They came boiled with 10 pieces. The dough is rather thick, but I actually really liked it as they were very chewy. Very filling though. Overall, I would definitely recommend Peaceful Restaurant. They have great noodles and the prices are reasonable. Service is average, but you manage to get their attention. Pros: – Hand-made noodles are delicious – Must try Peaceful Beef Roll Cons: – Seating is a bit cramped Price Range:
Amazing food - love it here! Peaceful beef rolls and dan dan noodles are soooo good.
Good eats !. Went there for lunch with friend, had to wait 10 mins for a table but well worth it.
We ordered the chicken dumplings and each had our own beef noodles soup - it was fresh and tasty
would highly recommend it !
My favourite tasty chinese spot! the fresh noodles here are the best so chewy and delicious!
Like this place. This place was great with the food I was satisfied. but a bit pricey,
Worth the wait!. Love love love this place! Great comfort food and delish noodles. Beef rolls were amazingly crispy on the outside, not too greasy or salty. Beef noodle soup was huge, amazing flavour!
I eat here ALL THE TIME. And I only ever get the same thing. The Xi'an cold steamed noodles, blade-sheared. There is probably some sort of drug in them because I crave them all the time. But I'm perfectly OK with that because they taste soooooo good.
Addictive beef roll and dim sum. Noodles are awesome. Food could do with being hotter though.
The food is delicious! The only inconvenient that I see is that they don't accept credit cards other than that everything is good
Wonderful and tasty!. We saw the TV show, and decided to visit whilst in Vancouver... tried the Beef Rolls, Potato Rolls, Noodles and dumplings, all were amazing. Will definitely be back!
My tongue is burning (but I LIKE that). I've been wanting to try Peaceful Restaurant for a while now because I'm looking to expand my knowledge of Szechuan cuisine. And as much as it pains the anti trend-follower in me, the Guy Fieri connection made me inclined toward Peaceful instead of other Szechuan joints. Bonus points that it's close enough to the hospital where I work that I can pop over quickly for take-away on my meal break.
The name "cumin lamb bun" appealed to me because I like the zing of cumin, whether it's in Mexican, Middle Eastern, Indian or Chinese food. Peaceful was out of lamb ones when I called in my order on a Saturday night, but the beef variety had a good amount of coarsely shredded strips on a toothsome sesame-studded oval roll. A few sauteed green pepper strips and mildly spicy red-pepper seasoning rounded out the taste profile. I'd take this over Subway or Quizno's any day.
"Dan-Dan Noodles" also has a catchy name, and I've wanted to see what they're about. Yes, I'm displaying ignorance of a Chinese cuisine standard, but that's why I'm trying to beef up my edible education, eh? The thick noodles -- would that be Shanghai style? -- had the rubbery al dente mouth feel that seems to be de rigeur. How do you say "al dente" in Mandarin, anyway? The peanutty gravy to pour over them seems to get as much heat from MSG as it does from the Szechaun spices in it. Nice crunch of peanuts and specks of pork in each bite. I know I'm going to be drinking litres of water during the midnight shift I'm working due to the MSG. If I get to feeling too dry, I'll just go to the emergency room and have them stick an IV needle in my arm to pump me full of 5% dextrose solution -- hold the 0.9% normal saline.
Had the Dan Dan noodles and ginger beef . If you haven't been you gotta go !! Great food and friendly sevice.
Loves it. Come here every week. I really like how they make their noodles fresh, and their steam buns and beef rolls are to die for... Soo good! The service is ok, but it's what's expected for a Chinese restaurant, fast paced but efficient. I like how they don't do appetizers then a main etc it just all comes out when it's ready, diving us right into the culture and we get our food fresh instead of it waiting under heat lamps. :)
Better than average chiness food on broadway. I have been to the place for a few times. I always ordered the peaceful beef roll. It tastes great! Pretty good service. But i think it is the size for each dish is too small for this price. For this price, i can have some bigger portion of more indigenous Chinese food in richmond or burnaby.
Excellent, good for vegetarians. My favorite dishes include dan dan mien, sichuan cucumbers, ma po dofu, potato rolls, and sichuan a-choi. Vegetarians are treated well, here. Many dishes can be modified on request. The MSG can be a bit heavy, so ask for less or to skip it.
I am happy for the young brother and sister who run the place and their success. But selfishly, I preferred going to Peaceful when it was "unknown", long before it received the DD&D TV and other media coverage! So busy, now!
Amazing. Beef Rolls, Mushu Noodles, Soup Dumplings, Thousand Chili Chicken, etc...I'm drooling just writing these words. Epic chinese food, takeout is incredible if you don't want to wait in line. I have nothing bad to say about Peaceful.
Cozy restaurant, very busy. Good service overall. Xi long bao tasty, also ordered lamb noodle soup, skimpy on the lamb. Need to go back and try other dishes that looked good all around me.
Not bad, but could be better.... Today was my second time going, and truthfully, the food was consistently good. I have to say that they have one of the better Xiao Long Baos in Vancouver. But the Shanghai Noodles (stir-fried) was saltier than I'd like. Although the food is great, the only down side is how tiny the place is. We went as a party of 5, and we were so lucky to be able to get a table. If we were 5 minutes later, there'd be no space. And even then, the size of our table was more for 4. Luckily, we weren't ordering a ton of food, since I went with people who were having a light and early dinner before a flight. Overall, things were not bad. Service was fair; not fantastic. Would I return? Sure.
Fantastic!! New Vancouver chinese stop for us. Great noodles... And I don't usually touch noodles.
Good Asian Food. Came right when it opened to avoid the eventual lineups so got seated promptly and ordered the Beef Rolls, Xiao Long Bao and Dan Dan Noodles.
All tasted great, the noodles were quite spicy to my surprise but it's okay cause it was kind of cold out.
Service was alright as there wasn't a lot of customers around yet.
Food is very yummy and authentic ,and waiters were very friendly and nice !!
