The ambiance was fantastic, I have never been there at night. It was like a under water sea cave. Candle lit dinner. SO many choices for all kinds of sushi! Everything we are was delicious. Our server Hana was so lovely & accomdating! Can't wait to return! 5 stars for sure!!

Awesome place to come to with some friends. The atmosphere is very fun and unique, filled with sexual innuendos, ultra violet lights and geeky pop culture references. The food follows closely to this theme. Their huge menu will have you in awe as you flip through the pages. They have some very creative sushi rolls, consisting of great ingredient combos. Always try something new when you come here!
To clarify, I was visiting from ottawa, and this place did not disappoint us at all! Reasonably priced, amazing sushi and what a unique fun environment!! We loved everything we ordered, we loved being in their ambience and the service was great! I would’ve eaten there everyday!!
Very cool sushi place with more of a focus on drinks and a good time my he sushi is average, however this place is very unique and lots of fun.
I would have given Eatery four stars but the service was not good and when the service is not good it takes half the fun of dining out away. But then it is a casual Restaurant and I in particular may be demand good service. For someone else it may be good enough. I do not think it is servers fault. My guess is she was either new or they don't train their servers properly. May be they do not take service seriously. Other than that it has a unique, different, crazy, funny and happy ambience. Loved the food. Strange as it may seem, I will go there again just for the food and more than reasonable prices and hopefully this time it will be a better experience.
This place has some of the scariest.. as weirdest decor. Especially at night when everything is dark and kinda creepy hahah! But the sushi here is very different, it is not a traditional japanese style kind of sushi joint but almost westernized with unique names for all their rolls too. Worth the try if you like unique and kinda funky decor HAHA.
I keep going back for The Fat Elvis, which I crave regularly. If you want a unique place to go for drinks with friends, The Eatery is a great option. It's a little loud if you want to have a nice, relaxing dinner. Love their expansive menu and interesting decor!
The best sushi I've ever had..Funky decoration, great atmosphere and a creative menu has combined just fine. I'm not surprised that boring Vancouver people rated this awesome place very low.

Good food, fun environment, but they have some things to work on.. The place is often packed on weekends, so it gets very loud. I've been the eatery many times, and I've always really enjoyed the food. The last time that I went we were disappointed with the service, and the dishes we were given were actually dirty (chunks of food on them). Because the service wasn't so good that night it took a long time to get clean dishes.
Great Rolls. The thing I love about the Eatery is it's not like any other place. I've been about five times over the last few years and I've always had a good experience. I love their weird and unconventional takes on sushi, so many unique flavour combinations that sound wrong but work so well. I also like the vibe and have always had decent service.
I love everything about this place. Delicious, unique sushi in a funky little restaurant. This place is pretty awesome. I recommend checking it out. It's definitely one of, if not my favorite restaurant. I love coming here when I get the chance. I live in Pitt Meadows and I have to make the journey out to Kitsilano a few times a year just so I can eat at The Eatery. Just being there makes me happy, with all the cool stuff to look at on the walls. Then you add in the tasty food and good drinks and you've got me elated.
The service is casual so don't expect to be served your food on a silver platter. Just enjoy the good food and cool atmosphere.

Funky, Variety, Lacks Consistency. The decor does not lack personality with aliens and octopus hanging about the dimly lit dining area. The menu is vast offering plenty of vegetarian options. Depending on the day or possibly the time of day the food may change. I've been and had fun delish sushi in the day but I've encountered brown avocado and neglected rolling around 10 at night.
I love the hell outta this place. The sushi is delicious, and the atmosphere/ interior design is soooo rad.
Only downside: drinks are meh.

The service is not always great but whenever I do come here, I order fat elvis and lychee mojito! These are by far the best on the menu. They have a large variety of food which is hard to deal with when youre an indecisive eater! Some may think the decor is weird... but I like it!

Go for a good time!. Not for the sushi pro searching for the perfect tuna, but for those of us that love good solid food and fun places to eat them. Let the waitress put your plate together, don't worry about the size of the menu.

Great place!. Be prepared to never eat sushi anywhere else ever again. The unique/funky style of this place and crazy menu will have you hooked. The staff is great. I was at the eatery last week with a girlfriend and I spilt my beer(all one sip left of it) the GM came right over to make sure we were Ok. He returned a few minutes later with a new beer-off tab for me. If that wasnt nice enough my first time I ever went to the eatery the same GM came over and gave my date a 30$ GC for having the best tattoos in the house. Cant give this place enough praise. If you are a newbie I recommend the Captain Cruch Roll (take on california roll) and the "Finding Nemo" roll.
Amazing place. Vancouver is a great city for sushi and the Eatery is the best place for sushi in Vancouver. Ordered two things thinking i was hungry and that I would get enough to fill me on a budget. What I got was two huge portions that were difficult to finish. Worth the money

Waiting again, and happy to do so!. A group of us, while in Vancouver at a convention, decided that this was another must stop! As we did not have reservations, we knew that we could be in for quite a wait. And so it was... Fortunately the fantastic waitresses accommodated with several drinks while waiting in line. As kind as service can be while waiting in line, they went even further to buy the majority for us! WOW!!!
The decor was something right out of a Japanese cartoon! Cool doesn't even begin to describe it, although a little but of creepy would definitely be acceptable... right up my alley!
And then we sit... and browsing the menu I realized that there was alot of culinary imagination here! Mouth watering and belly grumbling, we all put in our orders promptly and were completely satisfied. Every roll we tried was fantastic. My personal favorites were the Andy Warhal and the X-rated!
I think if you plan of coming here, be ready for a fast paced and fun place... and loud! Not a place to bring a date for a cozy evening, but how boring would that be, if you could have come here!! And as for a group, they will make sure you have a blast, and that we did!!

Fun, funky. Creative rolls and some of the best katsu in the city (particularly the salmon katsudon). Mojito mason jars are always a good idea. Always a fun experience.
Great Restaurant, but going down hill?. The first time I went to the Eatery a few years ago, it was an amazing sushi experience. After going back several times, the food and service quality has deteriorated significantly.

Great place to go for a unique sushi experience. HUGE menu and funky decor although it is pretty tightly packed. We waited about 20min for a table but I've heard that is a short wait for this place. Its popularity speaks louder than anything
I have to agree with a previous review that the food was Tasteless, Not fresh and "Soggy". I wasn't sure what they meant until I had my own meal. Apps and rolls came put soooo fast they had to be pre-made or leftover or something. As quick as the tuna tempura came out, it should have been piping-burn-ur-mouth-hot. Instead it was warm and a bit soggy. Even yam fries weren't hot. The rolls were amateur looking. By their appearance, I wasn't sure sure if they all came from the same roll or pieced together? Maybe pre-made, not mto which makes me question the quality of the products. Additionally the dishware was really worn/chipped and cheap looking. Even menus were worn and grimy. Mediocre overall. I kept waiting for the "omg this is SO good" moment but it just wasn't happening. The upside is that it was a cool spot with a young crowd and good music. There were some good, creative and funky concepts, just poorly executed.

Great Vegetarian Options. The atmosphere is really fun and the menu is easy to understand. This place is clean and has amazing and creative fresh food! Not only do they have great versions of your "typical" sushi favourites, but they have plenty of vegetarian options to keep you interested.
Sushi Fun!. Even if you're not a "sushi" person go for the atmosphere, it'll keep you occupied for the course of an evening! A great dinner with friends, loads of veggie options....loads of all options really!
