There was a big line up for the Cactus Club so we slid over to Tap & Barrel, found out we could have a drink at the bar and wait for 15 minutes and then ... then we were given the most spectacular seats right next to the water. I mean: sure, the calamari was fine, and I REALLY like the interesting BC white wine that I tried, and my pal didn't comment on his Thai Curry (which he would have if it was bad) and I thought that Truffle Macaroni and Cheese was fine: not too rich, but rich, tasty and al dente. But who cares with a view and table like this: it was awesome. And can I say this? The waiters, not just one or two, but nearly all of them, were ridiculously good-looking. We didn't harass them. But yes, good looking. Just saying.
And this post wraps up the 2019 Dineout Vancouver Festival for me. Originally Grayson and I were just going to go to Mulligan’s but we decided to go to the Tap & Barrel one as well because their menu sounded pretty tasty too. Originally we were both going to each order a Dineout menu set but we realized that we would just be ordering the same items so we opted to order one set and an entree off their dinner menu instead.
Big shout out to Tap and Barrel Coal Harbour. Staff were super attentive. One of the servers who was on his first day and trying a bit too hard spilled a minute amount of one of our dishes as he was serving. Not a big deal at all he obviously informed the head waitress (or manager, my apologies if that's a completely wrong title) who came to check on us to make sure we were still okay. Then they brought complimentary cheesecake, even though we hadn't complained. Honestly, there was nothing to complain about. Food was good too, and the setting is awesome. Nice to have a really good service experience once in a while. Cheers and thank you!
Really nice place to have a late or soon bite, surrounded by a really nice area with parks.
The Spicy tuna hamburger was really good, really fair prices due to the food we ordered. Recommend!
This was my first visit to the Olympic village. It was a fun experience! We enjoyed the patio. They have setup across from their restaurant as it was a beautiful day when we were there. The food was good, service was good and we had an awesome time!
After the 3 hour photo meet & greet we (group of 15) all headed in for some warming and healthy nutrition i decided on the mascarpone cheesecake mousse and must say it's freaking out of this world delicious OMG❣️YUM❣️ everyone around our table enjoyed their meals i'll give this location a 8.5 out of 10 the service was all smiles
Quite simply, you can't beat this location. With the ocean breeze, over looking Stanley Park across the bay, sea planes taking off & cruise ships passing by...com'on! And that's not all the stunning convention centre & 2010 Olympic cauldron set the stage. Okay, so food, delicious! Wonderful staff & kitchen can accommodate for dietary restrictions or allergies. They literally tripled checked & made recommendations. Absolutely, without a doubt try the PB&J Burger! Wowza! Great interior and one of a kind patio space, give it a try folks!! CordovaPie
So... We brought our dogs with us to Vancouver... And if you're a dog owner then you know that it's extremely hard to eat out with your furry friends. This place was most welcoming and your dogs can be tethered to a post right next to you on the patio. The servers immediately brought out a doggy bowl with water without us even asking. The calamari was tasty and I had the pacific cod & chips. They were also quite good. Service was quick and fast and my drink never went empty. This place is so friendly and lively. I will definitely visit this place again!
I came here lastnight with friends, it was quite a wait since everyone wanted to be seated on the patio. We were initially seated at a communal table in the shade, and asked if we could move to a table in the sun. I ordered an ice tea and a red sangria. The red sangria was delicious! For my entrée I went for the pb&j burger. I've always wanted to try it. The bun was nice and the burger itself taste pretty good. I liked the combo of the salty and sweet. I would order the burger again. My friends ordered the pepperoni pizza, which had come out 10 mins after my entrée. The pizza was really good. The pepperoni was nice. And the crust wasnt bad either. Overall service and food was good.
Stopped by on a random sunny day to sit on the patio and chill. Great location with amazing views! I LOVE their Red Sangria (I'd be in trouble if they had a pitcher option available). We had Tater Tots to snack on, which hit the spot.
We decided to have one nice meal out during out Vancouver getaway. We ended up at two different food courts for two meals and another meal at our cousin's house. We wanted one sit down meal with cocktails but we had to cross our fingers that our boys behaved. Before leaving for our trip I found Tap & Barrel online and liked what I saw on the menu. It ended up being really kid friendly with highchairs, a kid's menu, and crayons. The weather was warm and sunny and the line for the patio was really long. But there was no wait inside and we were seated right away. Our boys did okay except for when they started throwing grapes at me, but you know. Since it was so nice out I wanted something light and fruity to sip on. I ended up getting a White Sangria and my husband had a beer. We started with some Poutine, a Canadian specialty. It consists of fries covered in gravy and cheese curds. My boys loved the Poutine and it was fun watching them try something new and have a foodie moment on vacation. Then we ordered several appetizers to share-a soft baked pretzel, a meat and cheese plate with fruit and bread, and a Margherita Pizza. We really liked everything but we were stuffed so we decided to go walk it off at Stanley Park.
I was so disappointed with the salmon burger I got last night that I decided to try again today. This one was really good. Very moist and tender. I wasn't the biggest fan of the bun though. It reminded me of triple O's. I do like triple O's buns a lot, don't get me wrong, but this was not what I was going for in my burger today. It was still very good nontheless. I got it with a Caesar salad. I was not happy with it because there were no croutons. It was basically lettuce and Parmasan with, in my opinion, not enough dressing. I also got a double Caesar to wash it all down with, and it was great.
I've only been for bar food but I love their beer flights, wine flights and pulled pork poutine! Hits the spot-especially when consumed together =)Overall, a great atmosphere that has a "night out" vibe but isn't too loud or busy and is great for catching up with friends.
• busy, fun, lively & great environment. awesome for any occasions especially birthdays and watching sports games
• tip: reserve your table as it gets really busy here anytime, and I mean anytime especially if there's events happening in downtown
• good food selection. I was going to order the PB&J burger for $15.95 but they didn't have this today. T&B also offers brunch menu which is great and if you want a lighter meal
• our meals came in fast within 15 minutes but our friends had to wait for almost an hour for her Strawberry french toast. This isn't fun after running half marathon, she was hangry ;P On the brighter side, T&B took care of the bill for her and apologized for the long wait, a nice gesture
• servers are good, refills our water on the dot. she is busy but did a great job
• noticed some salads and fries sitting on the counter for good 15 minutes - wasn't impressive
Not a great place but not terrible. The view of the Harbor and Stanley Park obviously helps, specially with outdoor tables. I thought the food was slightly over priced but it's the City which makes sense. Overall impressed with the beer menu, favorite one by far was the Stanley Park SunSetter Summer Ale, very refreshing. Service was mediocre but the place was also beyond packed so can't say much about that.
Great selection of BC beers in a relaxed atmosphere. The patio is in a prime spot near the water, with perfect views of the North Shore on a clear day. The veggie sandwich is pretty good but a little greasy. The pizzas are delicious too. Friendly and quick service too.
Flight or Fight? I flight to the nearest patio with one of the best views in Vancouver!I was ready to try some beers this day and why not go for five different types. Ordering one of their seasonal flights had hints of pineapple, grapefruit, and a few others I'm not too sure of. By the time I am writing this post, they have already changed their seasonal flight on the website. #sorrrrrrrrryyyFor $10.50, you receive a variety of beers and a slip of paper letting you know which number corresponds to which title. I am almost certain that the bartender mixed up the order or I have the worst taste buds alive (Why am I a food blogger?!)....continue reading

Great service, awesome BC beer selection and great food. The best is (was) the PBandJ Burger. Unfortunately with the new menu they have stopped making it. It was amazing. Arguably one of the best balconies in the city. The view is phenomenal.
Really, really, really, really upset that their delicious PB & J Burger isn’t on the menu anymore. Is there a way to bring it back?! Petition, anyone? It sounds like the strangest concoction ever but it actually works! Excuse me while I cry over the fact that I can’t get my hands on this delicious burger ever again.
Now onto the food that are still on the menu ..
Pork Belly & Soft Egg Pizza - $15.95
pulled bacon, caramelized onions, smoked mozza, grated parm
I had no doubts about this. What could go wrong with pork belly? And egg? This proves you can put anything on pizza and it will taste amazing. The sweetness of the caramelized onions perfectly complements the saltiness of the pork belly and pulled bacon and the soft egg made everything so creamy. Pepperoni and Hawaiian are so basic.
Famous Fried Pickles - $5.95
Sour cream dill dip
For $6, this only gets you 5 sticks. Pro tip: order a burger - it comes with a full sized fried pickle. That technically means you get $6 for 6, right? $1 each? No more fighting over who gets the 5th pickle. You’re welcome. This is pretty standard, can’t mess up fried pickles.
It's finally starting to feel like summer!! (If you ignore the wind haha!) Warm weather only means one thing in Vancouver...patio timeee!! If we had patio weather all year long, everyone would be in such a better mood!! A joke I use to tell a lot in high school: "I'm like a calculator, I'm powered by the sun" Get it?! (You're not funny Selina) ;) Tap & Barrel has one of the best patio views in the downtown core! It's beside Canada Place, right by the water and the view is stunning , especially with good weather!! The entire patio was packed!! (you can tell from the picture!) There was still a ton of people inside though haha. This was actually my mom's first time eating outside LOL!! Asians (asian moms in particular) aren't really keen on eating outdoors because they're afraid of tanning (they all want white skin!!) She's the type of person who wears a hat/uses an umbrella (at the same time!!) even when it's cloudy outside LOL. Yea, she's that paranoid about getting dark. That's asian beauty standards for ya ;) She didn't want to sit outside, but she finally agreed to sit in at table with some shade!! :D Our amazing view!! I Craft Beer Mac & Cheese Smoked Mozarella, Spicy Bread Crumb Gratin 3.5/5 stars My mom had the mac & cheese with craft beer, and she really enjoyed it! Definitely super indulgent haha! It wasn't as salty as we were expecting it to be, the flavours were actually on the mild side. You could definitely taste the craft beer, with a hint of smokiness from the mozarella. The gratin added texture and a extra layer of substance to the dish. The entire thing was very heavy on the cheese and really creamy! The mac was cooked al dente and pleasantly chewy! Louis Lake Steelhead Salmon $21.95 Applewood Spice Rub, Red Nugget Potatoes 4/5 stars For $21, this better be good LOL!! And thankfully, it was!! :D I picked this because it was on their "favourites" list haha. The salmon was medium sized, but it was incredibly flavourful from the season
Actually Really Good. Don't be fooled by the spectacular view, the food here is actually really good. Pork belly pizza, fried pickles etc etc
How can you argue with that?
Also, they have a great beer selection. One of the best around.
Brunch-Tastic. I am not a big fan of Eggs...I haven't had poached eggs in awhile. I apparently felt adventurous on a Sunday Morning. I ordered the T&B Eggs Benny...wow...yea...wow. It was so good. The avocado was the definite highlight. The eggs were done perfectly and the hollandaise was very good, all the ingredients together was very good. To round off my brunch I had a Beermosa...yes a Mimosa flavored beer. Just like a mimosa it was citrusy and went quite well with my meal. I recommend both the Beermosa with the T&B Eggs Benny...it's a fancy beer lover's breakfast ;).
Huge portions, great patio space. Came here for lunch with a few friends as always there is a lineup for the patio space so we decided to sit inside. Looking at the entrees of those around us, they were quite big! I wanted a light lunch and opted for the salmon taco with pico de gailo and guacamole on top. It was delish and filled me right up!
What a fab view. Just stay to the pub type food. We had breakfast here. Both egg bennies were cold and not toasted. Then we noticed none of the brunch things were toasted. So my niece had bread bacon and fried eggs. But we keep coming back!
Great service, awesome location, good drinks (cutest mimosa I've ever had), and good food with some really interesting menu items! Would definitely go back; the only downfall was their hollindaise sauce wasn't the best, only ok.
Great casual spot. Had a group in the private room and we had a very good time. Food was casual but very good and wine selection was very good (BC) and good prices as well. Attentive service as well, would definitely return.
Deep fried pickles are a must! Finally found great fried pickles that weren't soggy or over battered! I had the dinner special, which was the Beer-b-cue pork ribs that normally came with house made chips but I substituted with scallion mash. The mash was AH-mazing, really flavourful and creamy, one of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had. The ribs were great! Will definitely come back just for the deep fried pickles alone.
Great view of the float planes in action. Try the Fat Tug beer. I usually don't go for the citrus beer thing, but this was great! Full bodied, with a almost impossible to define citrus after taste. Spoiler.....it's grapefruit. Wings were middle of the road. Service was great! Look for the beautiful light bulb sculpture. Enjoy. I will be back!
Enjoyed a late supper here with awesome view and rain held off while we sat outside. We shared mushroom and arugula pizza with truffle oil and a Cobb salad. The combo really worked. I'd prefer the chicken NOT be Cajun ...flavour didn't really fit well. Friendly service. I'd come back.
As far as the eye can see.. Well Dave and I decided to try the latest installment of this establisment. Could this be a sort of beer Mecca?.....quite possibly! We decided to sit at the bar to have a good look at the beers on tap. Nice Beer selection with well informed staff behind the bar. I started with the 3 selection 7oz samplers. The stouts were very nice. Dave2 had the Angry Scott as he tends to be that way. We both ordered the salmon on mashed, I know I know, a tad gay. Anyway, the salmon was good, the mash was good but a bit cold. I couldn't eat my kale but Dave lapped his up. The lighting is painful halogens at the bar..Not very well designed. It was very difficult to get nice feeling about the decor with the kitchen staff starring at our backs. It seems that every place we go these days is filled with noisy 20 something's shouting at each other just to be heard.
Over all nice experience with great beer. Beer taps for as far as the eye can see!
Tap and Barrel is a little nook in the wall of the convention centre; with flatscreen tvs, exposed wood displayed throughout, and a bookcase at the back for good measure. The overall feel is laid back and unhurried, you can come for drinks or stay for food, just a good spot for a conversation. And damn what a view from the patio.
I had a great time at tap and barrel because the service was good, the atmosphere was great, and the pickles were awesome. I would definitely return on another sunny evening with friends!
At Tap and Barrel, it’s a simple brunch for a simple gal. And this simple gal would brunch (and booze) again.
