Literally some of the best food i've eaten. The service was great, staff was super friendly and the serving sizes were huge. 10/10 would recommend p.s there were a ton of options for vegetarians
We had dinner with friends outside patio , food was so delicious, can’t wait to order from them again
My wife and I went in yesterday and tried the seven course tasting menu. First off, the staff were very accommodating and removed several chairs from a table to let me just sit on my scooter for the meal. Attentive service, excellent food, excellent pricing, can't ask for much else!

The food had amazing depth of flavor and a large variety to choose from. Service was excellent. Can't wait to go back and try something different.
The staff are helpful and friendly 💛 The food delishious. We go back fir the pineapple rice and now for curry chicken and ribs! I am a big fan of the chilli green beans now as well!
What a fabulous restaurant. Food was great and the staff was so helpful in helping us decide. I will definitely be going back!!!
Love this location, food consistently delicious. They make me feel welcome whether I'm dining with others or alone.
fantastic service, our waitress was on her game, and the food was amazing
Amazing dinner. We had Jessica as our server and she was friendly, offered great dinner suggestions, and was professional. Our meals were incredible! We will be back again before we leave Vancouver!
Omg it was soooo good. I had the beef randang and we shared the nasi goreng and some appetizers it was outstanding. Months later I still remember how good.the food was
We loved everything we tried, especially the Hokkien Mee.
Finding ourselves in the West End, which is a rare occasion, we had intended on visiting a particular restaurant on Robson Street but, after seeing the long lineup queuing outside, we headed over to nearby Banana Leaf instead. Banana Leaf is a popular Malaysian eatery with a number of outlets around town. We started out our Sunday morning feast with a Virgin Lychee Mojito ($5) and Curry Spiced Oysters ($12). I’ve had this slushy drink before in the past but felt like the one served here was a bit lacking in flavour. The deep-fried oysters, however, were on point with a delicately light coating.
We ordered the roti, chicken satay, mee goreng, salmon and hainanese chicken. Good experience over-all. The kids with us liked the food. Service was also good.
There were 2 locations of this local chain within walking distance of our hotel and we chose this one. We sat on the patio and, after reviewing the menu, decided to order the 9-course tasting menu. Our first course was mango kerabu, an interesting looking, though particularly flavorfull, salad of shredded carrots, green mangos, chili's and shallots in lime juice/fish sauce dressing. Next came roti canai, satay chicken and cumin mussels. We had several dishes on this trip that included mussels, but this one was voted #1.
Shortly after the appetizers, our four entrees arrived: rendang beef curry, sambal green beans, caramelized ginger sablefish and gulai tiger prawns and scallops. Our shared dessert was pisang goreng (deep fried banana) with ice cream. Every dish was very good with the only exceptions being the rendang beef curry (tough) and rice (dry). Pacing throughout the meal was very good as was the service
Met up with an old work colleague K whom I haven’t seen in years to catch up. We decided to come to Banana Leaf because their lunch menu looked pretty good. What I ate: Singapore Laksa ($11). This Laksa had rice noodle in dried shrimp coconut soup, chili, lemongrass, garlic and tumeric, searved with bean sprouts, tofu, cilantro, egg, chicken, fish cake, squid and shrimp.
I always walk by this restaurant and finally had a chance to try it. We started out with some Roti and a tofu appetizer which tasted amazing (highly recommend). The main dishes consisted of pineapple fried rice and Kung pao chicken. I was impressed with our server who gaged us pretty well and had a friendly chat after. I'm coming based on the tofu dish and the service.

We went to Banana Leaf for dinner because we won a $25 gift card there. There was a nice 9 course dinner prix fix meal for $30/person which had four appetizers, four entries, rice and dessert.
The appetizers
Mango Kerabu - didn't recall there being any mango
Roti Canai - delicious but hard to get wrong
Satay Chicken - very tasty
Cumin Mussels - a good amount of mussels for a sampler
The mains were
Rendang Beef Curry - beef itself was still slightly chewing and tasteless. some more time was probably needed for cooking
Sambal Green Beans -
Caramelized Ginger Sablefish - very delicious but its a sweet dish
Gulai Tiger Prawns and Scallops - creamy and savour. two scallops and four jumbo prawns.
Dessert was Pisang Goreng (fried bananas) with Crushed Peanuts and Ice Cream. I'm not a fan of this since mushy warm banana is never tasty to me and the ice cream was generic out of a tub but what do you expect. I would not get this, not even for the ice cream which felt like Breyers double churned (tasteless and non-substantial in the mouth)
In total the amount of food was quite sizeable and we were quite full after. $30 per person feels quite expensive but i think that's what you get when you need variety. each individual entree is about $15-$20+ dollars. For asian food i think this can be a pricey place to go since the base ingredients aren't that pricy but the tastes will always be good here.
This branch has a Monday to Friday 11:30-3:00PM special on Singaporean laksa. I have it regularly in Sydney Australia where it is quite common and I went with an ex pat Singaporean who gave it an 8 out of 10. It was incredibly tasty and although I requested sambal on the side, it really wasn't necessary. It was comparable to any laksa I've had in Sydney and my Singaporean friend was very content . The special is $6.95 plus taxes.(in Sydney Australia it's in the $8/$10 AUD range). I'm making this a regular visit.
Oh my god. Tried almost everything and lovd it all!
Good Malaysian Restaurant. I ended up here because the ramen place around the corner had 20 ppl lining up....But it was a pretty good move afterwards. I've been to banana leaf on broadway and it was good, didn't know they have one in downtown (and later find out they have two in downtown)
Food wise, Their best dish is the Samba Prawns and their chicken satay, both are my must order dish. There's also a $30 deal where you can sample 9 different dishes, from appezs to entrees to dessert. I would suggest them to use chicken thigh meat for their curry, instead of white meat, as the meat is pretty tough in the curry. Other than that, excellent food overall.
For those who order regular dishes like pineapple fried rice, may be they should order them in Chinese restaurant. Going to Banana leaf is for their malaysian food, not chinese food. :P
Verdict:
Food: 9/10 (very delicious, esp the samba Shrimp and satay. When you tried about 10 different places that have satay, you get to know Banana leaf has the best satay in town)
Service: 9/10 (very attentive service, and able to accommodate substitution)
Price: 7/10 (a bit on the pricier side, but you get very good food)
Overall: 26/30 (just a bit on the pricey side)
Having light dinner with two other friends on Friday at this new banana leaf Robson location. Spacious ground floor dining hall and nice ambient mezzanine. There are serving Singapore chili sole filet on special for $9.95, really good deal. All the dishes we ordered came fast and hot. Excellent food with friendly customers services. Left happily and will definitely be back again.
Was there for the first time yesterday. Awesome food! Super tasty and worth every penny. Also great customer service. Very happy leaving Banana Leaf
The bell on the door announced my arrival and the waiter looked stunned when I stood in front of him. I finally blurted out that I'm here to eat lunch and would like a table for one. He said he was just waking up, even though it was one o'clock.
I had the lunch special, Sup Tulang Noodles, which unfortunately was the only choice on their promotion menu.
The beef strips were gooda as was the broth. A tasty dish but I was looking for something spicy to add to it but the tables do not have condiments.
The tables are jammed together which meant that the server's butt was right next to my dish as she server the next table. Not very appetizing. I was asked twice by different staff how my lunch was and two servers were standing three paces in front of my table eyeing me and others as we ate. My plate was also almost taken away before I finished and I had to make sure it wasn't. Not a first at this or other restaurants.
I love eating at Banana Leaf and this newer location is just minutes walking distance from my home, but I will take the extra steps to dine at the Denman location which had a warmer small restaurant ambience. The Broadway location still seems to have the best tasting Banana Leaf food.
Oh, loose the bell on the door. This isn't a farm.
Outstanding!. I really love this place- even thoguht they always seem to laugh a little when I order "very spicy"... The food is consitenly very good and sometimes great- keeps us coming back for more. The full dinners are a slamming deal- two people could easily get two meals out of em! 5 stars for the very consistent food at very reasonable prices
This place had a lot of customers waiting at the front door when we arrived; we were scared that the long-weekend would bring a ton of reservations for this place, but surprisingly, the very cheery hostess told us it was only a 10-minute wait. They even offered an open seat in their upstairs level, but told me it was a little warmer. She allowed me to head inside and scope out the seat before putting me on their wait list. Overall, we chose to be seated downstairs where there was a breeze that came in the doors to cool us all down. The location is a spacious 2-level restaur
My colleagues, each with a different capacity to consume copious amounts of food, seemed impressed. For the most part, the service was prompt (although a little slow and confused at dinner) and courteous and the decor was simple but classy. Banana leaf is a small Vancouver chain offering a lesson in the diverse and delicious fare of Malaysian, a cuisine often overshadowed by its more popular neighbours. I’m just spreading the word.
