Review La Casa Gelato - Vancouver

Minh Nguyen
This is grand! The pink building cannot be missed from afar and the selection of ice cream is hard to not be impressed. The ice cream was great: fresh, slightly chewy and not too sweet. What I liked the most was the cone: it is aromatic and so flavorful. There is complimentary parking just opposite the shop.

So many flavours to choose from. There are lots of flavours with same base and different toppings such as 10 chocolate and one with nuts, cookie Dough, chocolate chips etc. lots of sorbet flavours too. Due to covid they are not doing samples so you really need to be sure what you want from all the choices. You need to pay in advance and you will get a token. They do not have take credit card so make sure you have cash or debit.

238 flavours to choose from but found I it was more quantity over quality. You must purchase before you can go and peruse the flavours and are given a token to identify what you’ve paid for. I was looking for dairy-free and found the area of the shop dedicated to this, certainly lots of fruity flavours but I don’t enjoy those as much. I chose a chocolate and raspberry scoop but could not taste any raspberry.

Been in the city for 4 years and not sure how we missed this place. A must try place with lots and lots of options. Its a different experience to go and get your ice cream from this place. The staff is very accommodating and always smiling. Havent seen so many chocolate options at one place.. 😍 They have free parking right opposite the store and a nice little spot right beside it to sit and chill and have your ice cream & take some pics.

Just honestly super cool how many flavors there are here. The theme and colors are also super cute. The flavors are divided up into similarly themed sections so you aren't too overwhelmed by all 238. You pay first and get a cute little poker chip to redeem your order with so you can check out the selection first. Friendly service and lots of selection & variety & tasty gelato to boot!

La Casa Gelato on Venables has been a fixture in the Commercial Drive area. After many years of not stopping by, decided to check this place out again a couple of days ago. Nothing has changed! The decor is still bright, colourful and, basically kitschy, as it ever was. Reminded me of Cafe Calabria around Valentine's, except at Casa Gelato the senses overload is there all year round... This establishment is known for the - sometimes - 200+ flavours of ice cream and sorbetto available, and in the good old times you could ask for samples of each until you found the one you liked. That was then, not any more, although maybe if you ask kindly, you will get ONE sample. The other reason this place is famous for are the weird ice cream flavours (garlic, wasabi, to name a few). On this visit, not the case. Not really there to experiment this time around though, my choice was a coffee flavoured ice cream. Not really impressed with this one in particular, very bland. In any case, if you come to Commercial Drive, check this place out and hopefully you'll be happy with your choice. Service was very friendly, face mask not necessary. Parking just accross their building.

Goodness - 238 flavors!! Need I say more? Oh, the ice cream tastes superb, by the way. Americans - have cash handy, because they only take cash or Canadian debit cards. Good thing my Vancouver aunty was with me. 😉

Due to the pandemic, they had to reduce the number of flavors available and they don't do tasting of the flavors they have available. So for the flavors you're not familiar you sort of have to roll the dice there but there are still a lot of more common flavors available. I think they still taste the same since I was last here 2 years ago, before the pandemic and I think it's just the mystique of so much choices but when it comes to flavor definitely not the best i tasted but I would say it was at least better than good gelato/ice cream.

Stopped by today and even tho it was packed it was totally worth it for my maple bacon ice cream. Soooooo good!!!

A gelato shop that is rare and amazing. With over 200 selections of flavors, ranging from different and unique tastebuds in your mouth - which are bizarre, exotic and typical. This place is a must see for both tourists and locals of Vancouver.

I have been loving this place since I moved to Vancouver 10 years ago. We always bring out of town guests for a visit and make time for a few stops throughout the year. You can taste anything for free, so try the "crazy" flavours. If you don't like them you can always have a dish of something you love afterwards. But you might find that you actually love them. Lemon Ginger Sorbetto is my personal favourite.

Ice cream, ice cream, we all scream for ice cream. Our families favorite summertime stop.

What a treat! Wonderful pistachio ice cream! A must visit to make in Vancouver!

Passion fruit sorbet & strawberry champagne sorbet was very tasty and delicious. The passion fruit reminded me of what I get back home in Peru called Maracuya.

This place boasts tasty, high quality ice cream with so many flavours to choose from as well as friendly, attentive staff.

An Amazing experience everytime!! So many flavours to try. It is really hard to pick but what ever you pick is worth it :)

Wow!! I couldn't believe all the different variety of flavors and different types of Gelatos, as well as Ice Cream and other goodies. This place was amazing!! Hoping to make it back there someday and enjoy some more Gelato.

a must for this summer! 5 star all the way

Omg was so hard to choose the ice cream I wanted!!! Awesome place. Definitely coming back

Ventured all the way to our favourite icecream shop for some treats. Picture here is the "nerdy cotton candy" flavour. I've never tried this one before but it's really good! I'd order it again.

Because of Covid, they limit number of people inside and not all flavours and no taste testing for a while. We went just after dinner and line up wasn't as busy that time.

La Casa Gelato is popular because of how many flavours they have (over 200!)... But I find their gelato to be average. It is a novelty to see all of the creative flavours, but a lot of them aren't that tasty and just weird. It's fun to go at least once, maybe to bring someone from out of town, and take a photo with the pink wall, but other than that, there are higher quality gelato places in Vancouver.

How much ice cream is too much? Well, you really can never have too much ice cream. Came to La Casa Gelato for some ice cream to cool down in the hot summer. A little pink stand alone shop with over 200 flavors! And I counted...there really were over 200 flavors n the shop. . Other then ice cream, they have some sweet treats to offer as well.

This place has been a staple in my family and itself has become an acclaimed Vancouver tourist destination and it’s clear to see why. This parlour serves sorbet and gelato but serves over 210+ flavours at a time. You get a variety of flavours for all kinds of pallets. There’s traditional flavours such as chocolate, vanilla and strawberry, but there’s also balsamic vinegar, wasabi and sour cream. Because of this, you can easily feel overwhelmed and under pressure when choosing a singular flavour but a huge plus is that they allow you to taste as many flavours as you like before making your final selection in either 1, 2, or 3 scoops in a cup or a cone.

It is all about quantity over quality here. The place is chaotic, with most people sampling tens of gelato before deciding on one, it can be hard to get the servers attention if you need to ask questions.

Overall, it is a fun place to come and explore all the crazy flavors.
Lex
Basic ice cream & gelato nothing amazing about the textures or style! Although great wide variety! Almost a tourist attraction for Vancouver! Recommend the gingerbread!

La casa gelato open it's only shop here in Vancouver. The building is so eye catching coz the painted all pink outside. When i came in, i surprised by how many ice cream and sorbet flavors their offer. According to information, it provide like more than 230 flavors. Some of the flavors are nice and some of them are weird. Some of the weird flavors are kimchi, vegemite, roasted garlic, licorice and many more. The servers also very helpful, they will help you to choose the one you like by giving you the tester you wish. Customer need to purchase the size of ice cream, cashier will give customer the coin according to the size and then give the coin to server and tell them what you want. After tasting many flavors, i decided to enjoy lemon creme de menthe which very sour but refreshing with choco and mint chips inside, and chocolate raspberry and tiramisu. This shop not provide seating area inside the shop, but outdoor across the road aside of the provided parking lot just for customers. Definetely place to visit when you in Vancouver.

This icecream shop has been in Vancouver for a long time. They sell 238 flavours in store with crispy waffle cones that they make in house. Cups are also available. I personally prefer waffle cones as I can eat and enjoy them. Cups will be thrown away eventually, but the prices of a cup and a waffle cone cost the same. Why not get the waffle cones?

First, you go into the shop, line up, pay for your orders, get a token from the cashier, browse on each freezer to look and try samples of the iceecream and then pick your favourite icecream. Finally, you can enjoy it.

The interior design here has been remained the same for so long but the theme totally matches the icecream shop. There were lots of flavours that you can't think of. You can try as much flavours as you like until you figure out which one you really want to eat. Sometimes I find that it is hard to choose what I like due to many options. Agreed?! :)

This is one of the best places to eat icecream in Vancouver. Local people or tourists can definitely come here and they would say "Wow! They have many flavours!"

There is street parking as well as a parking lot that is on the opposite side of the icecream shop. It is always good to come here with friends or family.
218 flavours of gelato has made many that flock to this store a tough time choosing what flavor or flavors to get! It literally took me a good 30 minutes just wandering and trying as many normal or bizarre flavours I can to decide. When I say bizarre I literally mean turning savoury items into gelato.

One of the oldest gelaterias in Vancouver (if not the oldest) is La Casa Gelato having been in business since 1982. This family-owned and operated gelateria is famous for their immense selection of flavours. To date, they have created 588 flavours with 238 on site at all times at their Venebales location. La Casa Gelato is a place where you get a gelato fix at most times of the day as they are open 365 days a year, 7 days a week from 11 am – 11 pm.

It's OK, the plentiful flavours allows kids to roam free and make decisions. But the quality does not meet what Vancouver can offer when it comes to premium gelato. I think less is more in certain contexts.
NeverSayWhen
More kinds of gelato, sorbetto, and frozen yogurt than than you could ever imagine. Some amazing and creative flavours (aged balsamic vinegar, vegemite, strawberry and basil). Free taste samples and reasonable prices.

We came here for some gelato one night, and it had us coming back for more. On this trip, we tried the lychee, coconut red rice, and passionfruit chocolate flavours. All the flavours were good, nothing to complain about but the ultimate stand out was the coconut red rice. It was so delicious. We have literally called La Casa several times, made trips there just to get another taste of this amazing flavour. However, we have had no luck. When we catch word that they finally have that flavour again, we will definitely be racing down there and buying a litre of it!

This place is always busy, especially on hot days and nights. But the staff here are nice and willing to let you try whatever flavour you like. As for pricing, it is on the higher spectrum from gelato but you're paying for the popularity and exotic flavours.

Oh, the memories! My mom said that my face would always light up and I'd be the happiest little girl in the world every time she would tell me that we were going here. I remember coming here all the time, it was just so magical to see all those flavours and it still is! When you walk through the front door, you get a whiff of the place and you're already in love. I also think that the workers are very patient with the busy crowds which can be a lot to handle. I always love trying new flavours every time I'm there. It was so exciting for me to come back this week after so many years! If anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!
Kn.vncvr
Their gelato is really good! I've had the avocado and lychee and it was delicious. The have so many flavours to choose from. The interior design is really unique, too. It's a little pricey but it's pretty worth it. I would definitely recommend it.

A gelato shop in Vancouver with 218 flavors? Sign me up for Las Casa Gelato! I must admit, sometimes having too many choices can be a bad thing but I did it and chose two scoops eventually. They even let you sample as many flavors as you want. It was an ice cream wonderland and there were at least six people lined up behind the counters, ready to scoop your gelato when you finally selected a flavor. The store is huge and the long pink counters are on three sides of the room. When you enter the store, there's a large selection of Italian desserts to choose from and ice cream cakes in another display. There are really unique gelato flavors like Pig in a Blanket and Marzipan. I think I even saw a taco flavor. I ended up getting a scoop of Chocolate Raspberry Truffle and a scoop of Sicilian Cannoli in a cup. It was a little rich for right before lunch so luckily we were all sharing. Once again, our boys took over and tried taking spoonful after spoonful. Hmm...I wonder where they get their sweet tooth from?

If you can't find something to love about this place, there is truly no hope for you. Everything from the location that's been there forever, to the tacky decor to the million and one flavours, this is every ice cream nut's wet dream. They have a great combination of new and inventive flavours and old classics.

I absolutely loved this place and will be back.
Anna Nguyen
Quantity over quality. Overpriced. Fun to look at all the flavours, but as someone who is so indecisive, I have a hard time knowing which flavours to choose from. The staff discourages sampling too many.
Somchai Vorrajack
I wish we had a place like this in winnipeg. SO many flavours to choose from and you can taste them all. There was a bunch of odd combinations but it worked, I tried the green apple and wasabi which didn't taste too bad it was pretty refreshing. Also tried the tequila sunrise which tasted just like the drink and I tried the chantrelle mushroom gelato which surprisingly tasted a bit like peanut butter. They also had some asian flavored gelato like jackfruit, redbean, green tea, durian and more. But I went for the toblerone gelato it was pretty darn good! If you get a chance, go for it many many MANY flavors to choose from!
Cecilia
Lots of flavours, but Im not the adventurous type. I had the taster for the kimchi, sawabee, ect flavours, but I would never get a scoop of any of them. The place is probably great for kids, and more adventurous people, but for a gal like me who usually gets green tea or some sort of sorbet, not a place I would drive back to.
Eatmunchlove
Mother deer and lil’ bun picked up a waffle cone from La Casa Gelato the other day and I ended up being able to steal a spoonful or three of it from her before she devoured the whole thing. If you’ve never been to La Casa Gelato before, you’ve been missing out! They have over 200 flavors of ice cold, creamy deliciousness and I swear it takes me over an hour to choose a flavor to get every time I’m there!
NOMSS
La Casa Gelato International Ice Cream Vancouver started some 28 years ago and is perhaps one of the oldest ice cream parlors with hundreds of flavors. The pink house filled with waffles and ice cream immediately puts your brain into overdrive and you end up ordering vanilla. Choose from wilder flavors such as garlic, red bean, durian, pesto and your classics such as vanilla, raspberries and chocolate.
Vinita Trieu
I really like this place! I always take visitors from out of town here because I've never seen a gelato store with 218 flavors! They switch up the flavors once in a while and have special flavors for special events but generally most of the flavors stay the same. Still a neat little shop to visit though :)
Katie E
Really this place sucks. A million flavours, yes, but each one is nasty and chemical tasting. Go here for the novelty of tasting I guess, but if you want quality, there's a dozen better places to go.
Ian's Blog
The best part of the place was the samples. I managed to sample the above flavors and a few others before deciding on what I actually wanted on my double scooped cone. The prices were probably the highest I'd ever seen ($6.50 for my double) but I got exactly what I wanted and it tasted great. They even gave my 12 month old a free baby cone. If your ever in the greater Vancouver area, I highly recommend you take your family into La Casa Gelato!

So many flavors!!!!!. The things I would do to be left alone in this shop for an extended period of time...
Jakeandthefatman
It's a decent enough product.. It's hard for me to review this place because while I do like the ice cream and the overall experience is pleasant I find it to be overpriced. I mean ice cream aside they wanted three dollars for a small bottle of water . You can sample various flavors here. Some of them are extremely odd. The texture of the ice cream is nice and we've had the gelato here before as well. I just to think the price is worth the product. It's good . The place is quite busy and you prepay to get service. They give you a poker chip to place your order. This is a place I generally only visit when someone else wants to go. If you've never gone its pretty novel. Not a got to place for me . I mean Twenty bucks for a,couple double cones and a drink. No thanks.

This Place Rocks. Where can you get a symphony orchestra of flavours dancing in your mouth like they are swinging to the music? Simple, try La Casa Gelato in Vancouver with several hundred different flavours that will tingle your tastbuds and fill your tummy with delicious gelato ice cream. Some flavours might challenge you but there's lots of small sampling to guide you before your purchase. Like everything in costly Vancouver or Canada, they are overpriced with their fees but in the end as a treat, who can pass it by when you're in the area. Treat yourself to a good thing and drop by this place and check it out, it surpasses the competitors by a country mile with quantities of exotic flavours.
DineVancity
My goal in life is to try every single flavour at the place. I love the mood there, everytime I go everyone is friendly! I could basically be full from just samples but the diversity of flavours is really amazing, you could get any taste of the world!
John Cheng
ICE CREAM HEAVEN!!!. If you're in the neighborhood, if you're in vancouver, if you're an ice cream lover, this is the place for you. Every possible flavor u can think of, they have it. Great place for a wild and wacky night as well. (make a friend try the wasabi flavor and tell them it's avocado or something :p)
Pinkfatboy
How can you not find a flavour to like!

Pistachio is awesome. The blue cotton candy is a parents nightmare, stains everything.
Sara Vickruck
Quantity does not equal quality. Sure the selection is large, but it's a marginal product. Over rated. I won't go back again, I can check out a restaurant like Famoso on commercial drive and have great gelato.

MuchAdoAboutFooding.com. Way back in March 2011 when I first heard about it, I wanted to go to Vancouver just so I could get a taste of this international gelato place. Little did I know I would make my way there in under two years. It actually was one of the few places that I really, really wanted to visit in Vancouver and its immensity of gelato didn't disappoint! There were many people on staff to help with tasting because of the hundreds of flavors available. I saw the normal stuff but also some weird things like wasabi and balsamic vinegar. I tasted ones like fig, dragonfruit, and spicy mango. One of my friends decided to snag Vegemite, a strange but oddly tasty choice. The other went for uncommon but safe - one pandan scoop and one toasted vanilla almond scoop. I, on the other hand, had a battle with my brain and tongue when I chose the wild berry jalapeno. The problem was the solution here. The ridiculously hot jalapeno made me want to eat more cold stuff which was the gelato itself. A tongue on fire that is also numb from the coldness of the food and the weather is a tongue confused. I lasted through but not before I wondered why the heck someone would even make that flavor. What a tangy and tantalizing but torturous treat...
John Smith
Great place. Service is so good. tons of crazy flavours.cherimoya is my fave.

Awesome Selection of Gelato!. Actually my first time here and they weren't kidding that they had a LOT of choices for Gelato.

I got the Red Bean & Coconut Waffle Cone, the gelato tasted as I've expected and the waffle cone was nice and crunchy.

As a sidenote, they make the waffle cones right in the store plus you can sample the Gelato before you make a selection if you'd like.
604Foodie
Mi casa es su casa. La casa gelato has a ton of gelato flavors for u to select from. from the tame to ones that make u raise an eyebrow...anyone up for asparagus or curry gelato? not into the location but they serve ok gelato. so i'll say i "like" it for its wide variety of flavors.
Loveyumfood
Peace Out Diet. Have you ever tried to get in shape and then moved 4 blocks away from a gelato store? I did that. Now I have to exercise all the time so I don't get fat and my boyfriend leaves me for someone who has self control when it comes to ice cream. Anyways... the place has so many flavours, it's stupid busy all the time (good sign) and they let you try as many as you want. You don't even need to buy anything! Just come in and try everything. Just don't try the balsamic vinegar.
Saeryn Correll
Variety and lots of it.. You really go here to poke around and see what they have on a given day. If you've got friends visiting, this is one of the places to take them just so that you can watch them browse for thirty minutes before picking vanilla.
As for the quality, it's okay but not stellar. If I want really good gelato, I'll go somewhere else. But if I want to try a lot of different flavours, this is the place to go.
MaowMaow Hungry
Great atmosphere. The store is big, staff are nice. The ice cream is average but I just can't stop myself from keep going back.
EV Dave
Great place for Gelato. More flavour choices than anyone, and it is always good. Can be a little busy though, so you have to make sure you get served at your turn or someone will get in front of you.
Matthewroncaruso
Over rated. Much better gelato can be found at Dolce Amore on Commercial Drive. Although there is a nice outdoor area across the street to sit and eat your ice cream.

Novelty has worn off. When I moved to Vancouver about 10 years ago now, La Casa Gelato had 188 flavours and they let you pick two flavours for a single cone and they really loaded up that cone (well, depending on who served you).

My last three visits over as many months have been disappointing. Tiny portions, only one flavour for a single, and man, it costs about as much for that tiny single as it does for a tub of my favourite gourmet supermarket ice cream. I bought a pint container and the server didn't even bother to tap (much less pack) the gelato in OR fill the tub to the top. I ended up with about 2/3 a pint. Why so stingy? If I'm paying $10 for a pint, give me $10 worth of gelato.

A fun place to take visitors to, I suppose (if your visitors love exhorbitant prices, huge crowds, understaffing and somewhat bland gelato). It's like the Disney of gelato parlours. I hate Disney. This place is definitely riding on hype.
Elizabeth Bailey
Seem to be one of the only people in vancouver.... ...who doesn't go nuts for La Casa. The variety is great, but I wonder how on earth they are able to come up with it so quickly and it such great amounts. If you're looking for novelty, this place is great. I do love the garden outside to be fair. The service is terrible. If it's really busy, prepare to feel like a bother. I stopped by Bella Gelato on cordova st yesterday and there they have fresh organic ingredients all made on site, old school style. La casa is the complete opposite of this. Yeuck.
Bukko Boomeranger
Flavour explosion!. How can anyone dislike this place? (As a number of reviewers seem to.) OK, its frozen treats are not quite as rich as some (but not ALL) of the gelatos I've had in Italy, and the flavours aren't as intense as Berthillon in Paris (best ice cream I've ever had.)

But daaaaay-yum! Ice cream is supposed to be fun, and what's more fun than a place where you can walk in and spend an hour perusing the choices?!? Everything I've had tastes good. When we have visitors up from the U.S., we bring them to La Casa G to cap their "The Drive" experience.

Lastly, any place that does durian gelato gets a point in my book. Only other place I've seen it is in a spot on Lygon Street in Melbourne, Australia, and even they didn't offer it every day. Durian gelato tastes like natural gas smells, and I will never eat it again after that one time on a dare in Oz, but props to La Casa G. for being bold enough to offer it.
Duncan Ritchie
Gelato is not the best I've ever had but the variety is amazing! You will never find such a large selection anywhere.
EatLover
The worst gelato in vancouver.... On my black listed already...
Lilsweetie
Too profit-driven. This place used to be good. 10 years ago (or more) when they really cared about their product and talking to their customers. Now it's way too profit-driven. The quality's gone down and the service is rushed and impersonal. The flavors used to be a lot stronger and genuine and delicious. Now they're a little blah and the only thing to really write home about is the selection. My only question is, how old are some of those really odd flavored ice creams that probably nobody buys...
Foodie
Celebrate Summer Anytime. The music is pumping, the kids are laughing, the flavors are unique and delicious. Go when it rains, go when it shines; La Casa Gelato makes you happy no matter the day or flavor.
Juan Castillo
Fame comes with a price. The place is internationaly known, tour buses even have it in their route. It is worth the money because it is a bit more expensive than other Gelato places. One time I even tried garlic ice cream.
Famished Foodies
Ice cream not gelato?. We went there on a whim on a cool summer evening. It was packed, but there was little wait for paying or ordering. We could see the waffle cones being hand-made behind the counter. That boded well for the cones, and they did not disappoint. The ice cream was good, but not rich and dense like real gelato. We would go back to try some other flavours and some of the wide selection of sorbettos.
Dan
La Casa Gelato is always busy and with 218 flavours of ice cream to choose from, it's not hard to see why. I love this place for the simple reason that they make their own ice cream and they do a great job of it. I love to sample the many unique flavours, but in the end, I always return to my two personal favourites: the Granny smith apple sorbetto and the balsamic vinegar. They're to die for!
Purdey
So many choice so little time. Some of the flavours are questionable, but overall their gelato is good.
Gotta Eat
Sooo many choices.... I enjoyed the ice cream here. There were a lot of flavors and some of them were just plain weird. Of the ones I tried, I really did enjoy them
Cocoabee
I never expected to find ice cream in flavors like "curry", "wasabi" and even "seaweed" or for it to actually taste like the real thing in ice cream form. La Casa Gelato has some of the weirdest flavors you can think of, and guarantees that there will always be at least 218 flavors in store at any time. Once you pay for your order ($5 for 1 scoop, $7 for two scoops) they give you a little pink token that looks like gambling chip and you can go around and taste as many of the strange and traditional varieties they have. Although they don't you a limit on samples, the store has 3 sections of ice cream and only 1 staff per section. I went on a weekday night when you wouldn't expect it to be busy, but there were at least 9 other groups of customers already in the store and a few more that popped in while we were looking around. The staff is always busy, either with helping another customer with samples, or at the cash register selling tokens, so it's a bit difficult to get many samples bec

Check out the video on youtube @macyeats! Mangosteen Ice cream I try a different flavour everytime I come here. This place is a cute little date location, or a place for an afternoon treat. The giant pink building is hard to miss. There's also plenty of free parking in their parking lot across the street. This place is famous for their selection of 218 different flavours.

Gelato in winter time?! It might sounds crazy but who doesn’t love this sweet treat :) I know for sure that I do! Sample taste here we come! The first thing I noticed on the shop was these. Almost 30 years on the market. That is amazing. By the way all the staff here were very nice and polite. Heaven! To be exact there were 218 Gelato flavors that you can try. I was really spazzing like a kid while checking all of it. I just couldn’t decide what to eat. Everything seems to be so yummy. You can actually ask for free taste so you have an idea how it taste like. Weirdest flavor I tried was the kimchi. Taste the same like the real one :P The Beer flavored Gelato. Cheers! The famous waffles cones galore :) All made fresh in-house. Too bad I ordered my Gelato on the cup :( I was busy choosing the flavors that I forgot all about the cones. Maybe next time. Oh Hello there Manila :) I had a big smile on my face when I saw this. The reason why they have paintings of different kinds of countries

Even though summer ends in less than a month, La Casa Gelato is definitely a place to visit and soak up sun while staying cool with some of the best Gelato Vancouver has to offer! Reminder: stack up on napkins!!! It gets a little messy.
FoodAdventureTime
I must emphasize the sheer number of options to choose from. You name it, they got it. There are flavours from all around the world. For example, La Casa Gelato has an Asian section devoted to flavours common to Asian taste buds such as various mango mixes, aloe, black sesame, durian, lychee, longan, etc.
Danika
Definitely the place to go if you want unlimited variety and exotic flavours. Decent service and prices. A cute little terrace across the street to enjoy your treats. Great family fun on any sunny day.

la casa gelato , everyone remembers its pink walls and prominent location on venables. there are over 200 flavours inside and is almost always crowded. the best part is trying the different flavours and being the boring kid i am, i tried the not so strange flavours but YOU KNOW WHAT, thats who i am :D pineapple ($5): good fruit flavour 4/5 ferrero rocher ($5): delicious hazelnutty chocolate flavours with swirls of thicker paste of hazelnut and chocolate. its so good… 4.5/5 flavours tried: tiramisu cheesecake: couldnt taste the tiramisu, only cheesecake chunks strawberry cheesecake : artificial tasting vanilla cookie: like cookies and cream cappa mocha: tastes like coffee Hazelnut Frangelico with Chocolate Shavings: strong flavour, but not hazelnut creme brûlée: tastes like caramel overall: everyone has to come at least once, its iconic. although not the best ice cream ever and $5 a cone, you get at least half a scoop - 1 scoop in the different flavours you try!
Two Pigs In A Pod
I must have tried about 10 flavours before deciding which two flavours I was going to choose. I only remember the names of three because they have the easiest names and most memorable flavour profiles: Curry, Seaweed, and Kimchi. Three words: interesting but disgusting. You might ask why I decided to risk my taste buds

This very popular gelato place sits on the corner of Venables and Glen Dr. covered in pink paint with the three Italian colours of green, white and red on the roof. Amazingly, they now have 518 different flavours, though only 218 are on site at a time. It’s always packed, with a lot of kids. However, I’ve only gone during the summer season, so I wonder how the business is during winter time. The great thing is that you get to try the flavours. It’s one small scoop on a tiny spoon, but it’s enough for you to taste the flavour. You’ll see everything from chocolate, brandy, fruits, wasabi, lychee and so on. This time, I tried: Avocado: it’s very faint. The taste of the avocado doesn’t appear until the ice cream has pretty much melted in your mouth and leaves that ‘avocado’ taste. But it’s subtle. Very interesting. Coconut: nice! It’s got frozen coconut chunks and the ice cream is very creamy and flavourful. I quite like it. Bailey Chocolate Cheesecake: a hint of alcohol. The three flavours mix well together. Ice cream here is a bit on the pricier side. It’s $5 a scoop or $7 for two, and you can have it either in a cup or cone. This is a must go to for the summer season, especially if you love gelato! You’ll never run out of flavours to try…at least for a while…:P Another time I went, it was around 9pm, but it was jam packed again! I tried: Chai Tea which one guy (stranger) said to me that it was really good. I tried it, but wasn’t wow-ed as he put it. To me it didn’t seem like chai flavour. Nerds: wow…so purple!! It tasted really chemically and infused with lots of artificial flavour. It was like tasting really bad kid’s gum. Blah. German Chocolate cake: very rich – if you like chocolate, give this a try!
Domo Is Craving...
When you first go in, you have to purchase your ice cream cone first and they'll hand you a poker chip. That poker chip represents your payment so when you're ready to pick your flavour you just hand the worker your chip and they'll know you already paid.
Constant Cravings
The most interesting flavour I tried was Apple Wasabi. It tasted exactly like green apples and then your tongue is hit with the spiciness from the wasabi and the flavour was strong too! There were just too many flavours to choose from and I would’ve spent even more time sampling if my friend didn’t have to leave soon

La Casa Gelato is literally a true gem in the middle of nowhere. But for anybody who wants something a little different for dessert, than this is certainly the right place to go. I must also note that their ice cream cones are worth trying since they’re all made fresh on spot! I didn’t try one because I’ve never had good experience with ice cream cones. So even though summer is over, do keep in mind the idea of having some gelato here because you’re guaranteed to find something you’ve never tried.

LA CASA GELATO was the perfect place to go! There are more than 500 flavors of ice cream actually and I could literally get a taste of any flavor I wanted; from savory to sweet. Savory as in something like garlic? or curry ? Sweet as in... FERRERO ROCHER! However, if you want a little bit of both... consider apple cheese? It may sound bizarre but trust me... some combinations will really surprise you with how scrumptious they are, like maple bacon gelato. Look at the crowd.... it was like this the whole time I was there. WOW :) Handsome guy scooping gelato at the speed of lightning ;) A single is $4.50 and we both each got a single; pistachio and white chocolate strawberry. There were plenty of nuts
Simon
Price wise, it's a bit pricey... Two scoops -- generous scoops, I must admit -- in a cone will be about $6.50, which is more than you'd pay for a small tub of ice cream at the supermarket, where the flavours are more conservative but the quality is good.
Every Day Is A Food Day
I’ve heard that the place has over 200 flavours of gelato and some pretty exotic ones too, and I’ve been dying to visit the shop. Some weird flavours included wasabi, curry, and garlic. They also had more normal flavours such as vanilla and chocolate.Sorbet is also an option if you don’t want gelato. Your gelato can be scooped in either a waffle cone or cup, which were seen all around the shop. Before purchasing your gelato, you are welcome to try the flavours. There are many employees behind each fridge, and they were extremely friendly and helpful. I didn’t dare try the exotic tasting flavours, such as curr

I loved my sorbet because it was fruity, sweet, and reminiscent of my favourite Hawaiian juice. The fruit flavours were all balanced so none of the flavours overshadowed each other. If you like tropical fruit or you have a guilty pleasure for POG, I would highly suggest this sorbet. The espresso with chocolate flakes was rich and it had a bold espresso flavour. If you are a coffee lover and don’t like gelato that is too sweet, this would be a

La Casa Gelato International started some 28 years ago and is perhaps one of the oldest ice cream parlors with hundreds of flavors. The pink house filled with waffles and ice cream immediately puts your brain into overdrive and you end up ordering vanilla.
Penny And Rusty
Their dinstinctive pink store is easy to spot… just look for the throngs of patrons. The shop itself is rather large – it has to be considering they have 218 (of their 500 ) flavours available at any one time.

Back in 2011, some pals and I had an adventurous lunch date where we visited 4 establishments with highly touted pork sandwiches and dubbed it " A Pork Sandwich Smackdown ." It was amazingly awesome fun way to sample sandwiches we had all heard about, wanted to try, and then compare them. A themed food crawl. MAPLE BACON GELATO!

La Casa Gelato is like the equivalent to Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory for Gelato fiends. It’s brightly coloured, wide open space is literally a candy store for kids. With over 200 flavours on site at all times, you’ll find the typical flavours (chocolate, vanilla) to the more stranger variety (wasabi, durian, peanut butter bacon to name a few). My ultimate favourite ice cream/gelato flavour is Rocky Road. I know a lot of purists hate the addition of ‘junk’ into their ice cream, but not only am I a chocolate lover, I do enjoy the nuts and marshmallows that go into it. I should be more adventurous, but I always seem to gravitate to this flavour here. I also love their Hedgehog and Mango flavours. Brian ordered the Mango Jackfruit, he is quite the opposite of me and prefers lighter, fruity flavours. Thanks for being my hand model, Brian! Needless to say, on a hot summer day, this one scoop doesn’t last very long! One scoop is $5, but that’s all you really need. It’s a great place to ta

There are scores of flavours and the place is packed with people sampling the different flavours. There are some wacky ones indeed. I saw "Basil Pernod" and a smorgasbord of International flavours like Durian, Rambutan, Chocolate Cookie Dough, Pistachio, Cassata and Chocolate Jack Daniels.
The Q Family
You can try out any flavor you like and once you decide you can go to the cashier to purchase a token to get your ice cream.

La Casa Gelato is a tourist destination and is very famous for their 518 flavours and 218 choices on site. They have been in business for a very long time and I have been going there since I was a little kid. It was always a treat when my parents would take me here. They offer some of the most absurd flavours like - Wasabi, Balsamic Vinegar, Chocolate Chili, and gorgonzola cheese. With the 218 flavours to choose from, you might spend a bit of time trying out a few flavours until you finally decide what you really want. Since there is usually a lot of traffic, there are no seats. They have tons of cones in various styles.Their prices of gelato has also increased quite a bit over the years. You need to get a token before you start ordering your gelato or else they will not serve you. M ordered the Chocolate Peanut butter Gelato ($4.50). He decided to have it in a cup because he hates the messiness from the cones. ConsultingGirl ordered the DragonFruit Gelato ($4.50). The flavour is good

too too much : Strathcona: La Casa Gelato was overwhelming. So many people. So many flavours. So many workers. So many so many so many. I didn't like the experience. It was too many of so much. I finally settled on espresso chip. It was an average gelato. Tasty but the cone was terrible. Tasted like plastic. The workers were all fantastic. Greeted me with a smile and were always happy to help. This leads me to my important message to independent shops. Appreciate your customers lest you feel my wrath. Read my review on Swiss Bakery on Yelp . Sorry Raulie , but if a business is unnecessarily rude I will show no on mercy.

Home to such flavours as roasted garlic, cabernet sauvignon, fennel, jasmine, kulfi and blue cheese.. this is an experience not to be missed.

dre in Vancouver: My coworkers and I went to a gelato place where they had over 200 flavours to choose from! There were some weird ones like curry and wasabi. We spent a good 30 minutes here trying a bunch of flavours before deciding what to get. It was funny, because I kept saying I'm going to get a flavour that I can't get from a supermarket, but I ended up getting boring ol' pistachio. I figured, I'd probably never buy it from the supermarket haha. On another day, (the same night as Nuba), Foodology and I went to Bella Gellateria to get dessert. I got a yogurty flavour and she got london fog (which was like Earl Grey). These ones were much more expensive, but still very tasty! They offer homemade waffle cones, chocolate dipped waffle cones, or chocolate dipped waffle cones with sprinkles.
Bonnibella
They house more than 200 flavors each day and they are as wild as Cheshire Cat's imagination. The really best part is trying out too many flavors until the tongue becomes numb and settling on a safe flavor like chocolate.
The Bon Vivant Blog
But how’s the gelato? Well, there’s lots of choice. Really, it’s not the greatest gelato in the world, but they pretty much make up for it by having every flavour you can imagine - and then some. Want some durian ice cream? No - then how about blue cheese

La Casa Gelato’s claim to fame is that they have over 200 flavours (218 in store), which brings the important question… Quality or quantity? I guess I was about to find out. When I arrived, I found out something odd: This place is quite popular, as, despi
